- After Swapping Souls with the Aloof Fake Young Master, I Sent the Whole Family Flying
- Chapter 1 - "We're not done yet!"
At the gates of Hangda Affiliated Middle School, students were bustling back and forth, hauling luggage between cars and the dormitories.
The “Happy New Semester” banner at the school entrance swayed gently in the breeze. Amidst the crowd’s clamor, the sound of urgent footsteps approached. Cheng Kai, like a gust of wind, shouted to the students who were still leisurely moving their belongings: “Hurry up and pack! Old Song is leading the Discipline Committee on a room inspection!!”
He spun around nimbly, leaving the students’ flustered cries behind him. Then, taking the stairs two at a time, Cheng Kai burst into a dormitory room located at the corner of the first floor. He slammed the door shut with a click and leaned against it, panting heavily. Even then, he couldn’t help but complain to Pei Jinghang about his recent ordeal:
“Bro, let me tell you, I just went to the radio station to chat with a gorgeous Omega, and then Old Song and the Discipline Committee stormed in. The school’s been cracking down on Alpha-Omega dating so hard lately, terrified of another incident where an Omega gets pregnant and has to drop out… Hey, Pei Jinghang, are you even listening to me?”
Pei Jinghang, who was hunched over the desk tinkering with a model airplane, was engrossed in studying a particular part. He maintained his usual “in one ear, out the other” attitude toward Cheng Kai’s words. “What you’re saying isn’t fit for polite company. I’d rather not listen.”
“…Aren’t you moving out of the dorm today? Why aren’t you packing yet? Can’t you stop messing with Legos for one day? Anyone who doesn’t know you would think you’re a kid.” Despite his words, Cheng Kai still leaned curiously behind Pei Jinghang to see what kind of plane he was building.
As the last part clicked into place, Pei Jinghang let out a heavy sigh of relief. The young Alpha rolled up his school uniform sleeves to his elbows, revealing his firm, well-proportioned forearms. His eyes gleamed as he admired the masterpiece he had spent the entire summer vacation completing. Only then did he turn to Cheng Kai and ask, “Who did you say was coming?”
Seeing him deliberately ignoring him, Cheng Kai had no intention of indulging Pei Jinghang. He propped his chin on his hands, leaning against the side table, and said with a smirk, “Your most beloved Head of the Discipline Committee, Jiang Yi, is here with Old Song for a room inspection. If you don’t hurry up and pack, the dorm supervisor won’t be able to protect you anymore. Happy now?”
As the words fell, the light in Pei Jinghang’s eyes faded at a visible speed. He immediately broke out in a cold sweat, so intense it felt like goosebumps were falling off him in clumps. He shoved his chair aside, sprang to his feet, and began stuffing the messy clothes beside him into his suitcase.
Cheng Kai couldn’t help but snicker at the comical sight. He started packing his own things alongside Pei Jinghang and asked curiously,
“You can even fool Old Song sometimes. Why are you so helpless against Jiang Yi? Just because he’s the fake young master who took your place? At the end of the day, Jiang Yi is still an Omega. So many rich young masters at school are infatuated with him. After you’re recognized by your family, just let Jiang Yi arrange a marriage with another wealthy family in the Imperial Capital. Is it really worth getting this scared?”
“That’s exactly the problem. Jiang Yi is just as stubborn as I am. It won’t be that easy to marry him off.” Pei Jinghang lowered his head, his movements slowing down. “Last time, I secretly followed my adoptive mother back to the Jiang Family…”
Pei Jinghang narrowed his eyes, sinking into a memory he wished he could erase.
Two months ago, Pei Jinghang finally met this noble young master—a boy his own age, yet a level above him in both social standing and breeding.
Taking advantage of his biological parents’ absence, Pei Jinghang, who rarely drank, had gotten drunk and thoroughly humiliated his abusive adoptive mother, Pei Xiuying. He had smashed almost everything in the house, sending the servants fleeing in terror. As he sat on the floor, gasping for breath, the sound of a door opening echoed from upstairs. Pei Jinghang looked up, his sweat-drenched brow furrowing, to see Jiang Yi descending the stairs with his hands casually in his pockets.
In stark contrast to the chaotic scene, Jiang Yi looked like a piece of flawless, exquisite white porcelain. Pei Jinghang glared at the fake young master who had usurped his place, his eyes wide with fury. “This is my house,” he snarled. “I can smash whatever I want. All the filth that doesn’t belong here should get out, including you.”
“I’m not competing with you,” Jiang Yi replied calmly, not rushing toward Pei Jinghang. Instead, he turned to the kitchen to pour a glass of plain boiled water. “Don’t call the police. The police can’t handle what happened back then.”
Seeing that Jiang Yi showed no hostility, Pei Jinghang assumed the water was for him. Instead, a wave of icy liquid poured over his head, sending him leaping to his feet in a rage. “Fuck! Fuck! Jiang Yi, you’re deliberately trying to piss me off, aren’t you?!”
Pei Jinghang’s consciousness was clouded by alcohol. He instinctively pinned Jiang Yi beneath him, his bloodshot eyes fixed on Jiang Yi’s habitually calm and handsome face.
“Just trying to sober you up,” Jiang Yi said. “I don’t care whose house this is. If you didn’t buy it, you shouldn’t be smashing it.”
Because Jiang Yi was an Omega, Pei Jinghang’s fist—which had been about to smash that infuriatingly smug face—veered off course, slamming into the carpet beside Jiang Yi’s head. The impact made a sickening crunch. Jiang Yi merely blinked in momentary alarm before raising a hand to pat Pei Jinghang’s cheek in a perfunctory gesture of comfort.
“We can keep fighting until we’re both crippled if you like,” Jiang Yi said. “But you should consider whose side our parents will take. If you don’t want to be sent to the police station as a delinquent, I suggest you get the hell off me.”
“…You’d better be the one to leave the Jiang Family in the end,” Pei Jinghang spat at Jiang Yi before storming out of the room. “Or this isn’t over between us.”
The Jiang parents were typical pushovers, so kind they bordered on brainless. Jiang Yi knew Pei Jinghang wouldn’t want to leave a bad impression on his biological parents, so he used a mix of coaxing and deception to send Pei Jinghang and all the servants away that day. After paying a generous hush-money sum, Jiang Yi finally managed to fool the rest of the relatives.
Since Jiang Yi had seen him at his most vulnerable, Pei Jinghang couldn’t say much now. After school started, he did his best to avoid Jiang Yi. Fortunately, Jiang Yi had skipped a grade and was now a senior; otherwise, given how often Pei Jinghang had to stand at the podium and read self-criticisms, they would have run into each other every single day.
“Jiang Yi is just like you, he settles scores on the spot,” Cheng Kai said, trying to suppress a smile. He suddenly thought of a difference between Pei Jinghang and Jiang Yi and quickly straightened his expression. “It’s just that you’re a bull in a china shop, while he’s more smooth and plays the innocent. In that sense, you two actually complement each other.”
“Screw you. Just marry him off already. You just said there are so many rich heirs waiting for him. Whoever wants to marry Jiang Yi, I’ll personally carry him over in an eight-person sedan chair! I don’t want to have anything to do with him for the rest of my life.” Pei Jinghang continued packing his things when a sudden, urgent knocking sounded at the door.
Cheng Kai thought, We’re screwed. Their double room was the first one on the left in the boys’ dormitory, and Old Song and the Discipline Committee would definitely check theirs first. Cheng Kai shot up from his chair and shot Pei Jinghang a look, urging him to pack up quickly. But Director Song didn’t even give them a chance to hide the evidence. He burst in with the Discipline Committee members in tow.
The moment Song Desheng opened the door, he was met with the sight of Cheng Kai and Pei Jinghang frantically stuffing things into their suitcases.
As the Grade Director, Song Desheng found it difficult to reprimand Pei Jinghang in front of so many people. He could only silently pinch his throbbing trigeminal nerve and feign a gentle tone. “Pei Jinghang, don’t tell me you still haven’t submitted your move-out paperwork at this hour.”
Tomorrow was the first day of school for all students and faculty. To avoid missing class, today was technically the last day Pei Jinghang could apply to leave campus.
Originally, Pei Jinghang had planned to skip class tomorrow and then smooth things over with the dorm supervisor to finish his “move.” But doing it secretly on his own was one thing; getting caught by the Grade Director was entirely another.
Clearly, Song Desheng had read Pei Jinghang’s mind like a book. He pursed his lips and gave the back of Pei Jinghang’s head a sharp, yet not too hard, smack just as the latter was about to put on a cheeky grin. “Don’t you dare think about skipping class again!” he warned. “I’ll be waiting for you at the school gate tomorrow. Jiang Yi, make a note of it for me, strictly monitor the morning commute tomorrow.”
“I’ll take the other students to check the other dorms. Jiang Yi, you’ll handle the hygiene inspections here. Everyone else, split up and take one floor each. Now, move out!” With that, Song Desheng led the other Discipline Committee members upstairs, leaving Jiang Yi alone on the first floor.
Until now, Pei Jinghang hadn’t dared to even glance directly at Jiang Yi, who had been standing behind Song Desheng. But now that Director Song had personally called his name, Jiang Yi had no choice but to step forward and start working.
This time, Pei Jinghang caught a glimpse of the Head of the Discipline Committee a young man with a well-proportioned build and strikingly handsome features.
For an Omega, Jiang Yi stood nearly 180 centimeters tall, a rarity. Even Cheng Kai, an Alpha known for his popularity and extensive network, admitted that the number of people who liked Jiang Yi could circle the school’s running track.
The Head of the Discipline Committee was truly stunning. It was such a waste of a good face.
He was just so punchable.
“…The dormitory is cluttered. That’s a two-point deduction for hygiene,” Jiang Yi said as he recorded it on the clipboard. “Also, no one is allowed to leave the school gates this afternoon without a leave of absence. If you want to move your things out, apply for leave tomorrow. No skipping class, and no leaving school without completing the checkout procedures.”
“Senior, don’t be like this,” Cheng Kai interjected, trying to salvage his image. “Look, Pei Jinghang is moving out any minute. If you deduct points now, it’ll just be me left in the dorm. That’s not fair. Give us a break, okay?”
Jiang Yi merely glanced at him and replied with professional indifference, “Pei Jinghang isn’t moving out today. The mess is his, and his mess is the dormitory’s mess. The points will be deducted. No exceptions.”
Confronted with such cold, flawless logic, Cheng Kai pursed his lips and gave Pei Jinghang a thumbs-up.
Jiang Yi’s personality really is unbearable. Brother, I finally understand you.
Pei Jinghang didn’t bother arguing with Cheng Kai, but his dissatisfaction with Jiang Yi was palpable. He stood up, snatched the clipboard Jiang Yi was writing on, and crossed out the two-point deduction with a pen. He then shoved the clipboard back at Jiang Yi. “I’m completing the checkout procedures tonight. Don’t deduct these points from the dormitory.”
Jiang Yi was already standing close to the wall. The moment Pei Jinghang handed him the board, he deliberately unleashed his Alpha pheromones to overpower Jiang Yi. Jiang Yi hadn’t expected this move. The deep-seated fear of Alphas made him instinctively recoil slightly a movement so subtle it was almost imperceptible.
Yet Pei Jinghang’s keen senses caught the faint, fleeting scent of sea salt pheromones. His predatory instinct flared, and he stepped forward several more times, eager to get a closer look at Jiang Yi’s flustered expression.
Thud!
Pei Jinghang slammed his arm against the wall, only then realizing he had pinned Jiang Yi against it. The scene was a perfect mirror of what had happened at the Jiang Family’s estate. Pei Jinghang’s mind went blank with panic, but Jiang Yi remained remarkably composed.
Cheng Kai, sitting nearby, noticed Pei Jinghang’s strange behavior. After all, there was a clear distinction between Alphas and Omegas. He quickly rushed over and grabbed Pei Jinghang’s shoulder, trying to snap him out of it.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yi held the board horizontally between himself and Pei Jinghang, signaling for a safe distance. He then lightly tapped Pei Jinghang’s cheek with the pen in his hand and said sharply, “Wait until the paperwork is processed tomorrow before you move out.”
Pei Jinghang was seething with anger, but out of politeness, he still let Jiang Yi deduct points from him before calmly walking away.
Once Jiang Yi was gone, Pei Jinghang began plotting his own little scheme.
After all, he thought, no one guards the school’s back gate at night. I can just climb over the low wall in the corner.
Once he’d made a decision, he acted on it, that was Pei Jinghang’s usual style. As night fell, he had Cheng Kai in the dormitory cover for him. Then, expertly navigating the blind spots of the teaching buildings, he made his way to the low wall on the back street, pulling his suitcase behind him.
Though called a “low wall,” it was actually about two and a half meters high. Trying to vault over it with a suitcase would be nearly impossible.
Whether it was the overcast sky or the threat of rain, Pei Jinghang found it hard to make out the wall’s uneven surface. If he were to slip and fall, the risk wouldn’t be worth it. Instead, he found a gap beneath the railing and slowly pushed his luggage through to the deserted street on the other side. That way, he could simply grab it after climbing over, avoiding the danger of trying to carry the suitcase with him.
Pei Jinghang’s eyesight was exceptionally good, even at night. He scanned the surroundings for any slight movement before finally identifying a safe landing spot.
He stepped onto the nearby earthen mound and leaped.
Boom.
A blinding flash of white lightning streaked across the sky. In the dim glow of the streetlamp, Pei Jinghang’s lithe figure blurred past. He glanced down and saw a boy looking at his phone beneath the light.
Gravity pulled them closer. The phone’s screen illuminated a distinct profile that told Pei Jinghang without a doubt: it was Jiang Yi.
His heart hammered faster.
As a gentle night breeze tickled him, Jiang Yi looked up to see Pei Jinghang’s piercing eyes and his rapidly approaching face.
Thud.
Everything finally plunged into darkness.
