- Chapter 14 - Honeymoon. Sharing a Bed with Daddy!
Li Chu’s eyes widened, his first reaction being to refuse.
Compared to being in the same room as Shao Tingyue, he felt that even that person named Alex would be better. Usually, just sitting next to him was stressful enough, let alone sharing a room.
Wait, it wouldn’t just be one bed, right?
Li Chu’s little face couldn’t help but fall, and he weakly protested, “Second Uncle, I don’t really have the best sleeping habits. I might affect the quality of your sleep.”
“Besides, I also snore, grind my teeth, and talk in my sleep.”
“Is that so? Then you should even more so not affect others,” Shao Tingyue countered indifferently.
Li Chu immediately conceded, “That is also true, haha.”
Zhong Yili looked at Shao Tingyue with some surprise. He knew his friend’s personality better than anyone. He was a man with a mild case of mysophobia, aloof, arrogant to the bone, and someone who never liked physical contact with others, let alone sharing a room and sleeping in the same bed.
What was going on today?
“It’s fine. You two uncle and nephew can sleep in one room. Besides, the bed in the suite is a custom King size. Chu Zai could roll around on it and still have plenty of room to spare.”
Li Chu’s internal reaction was a silent protest. Roll where? Roll onto Shao Tingyue? That would be truly daring.
Seeing that the room allocation was finally settled, the butler quietly breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly ordered people to deliver the luggage to the respective rooms.
Li Chu and Shao Tingyue had two suitcases of the same style but different colors. At first glance, they actually looked a bit like a couple’s set.
On top of that, the yacht suite was decorated with aromatherapy and rose petals that created quite the atmosphere. Li Chu glanced at them as he passed by, and a strange sensation surged in his heart.
He had been single since birth in both his lifetimes and had only seen such scenes on television.
It felt like he and Shao Tingyue were on their honeymoon.
Li Chu was startled by his own thoughts. He lifted his eyelids to meet Shao Tingyue’s dark eyes, and it felt as if something had exploded in his mind. He hurriedly shifted his gaze away.
Damn it, what kind of nonsense is this?
The yacht officially set sail, heading for a private sea area several hundred kilometers away from Hong Kong.
On the deck, the sea breeze was gentle, and the aroma of food wafted in the air.
Li Chu hadn’t eaten much that morning before heading out, and by now, his stomach was already a little hungry. As soon as he smelled the food, he immediately tossed those strange thoughts aside.
The chef on board had been specially hired from a five-star hotel and was of a very high standard.
The grilled lobster and scallops were fresh, tender, and juicy, with a bouncy texture. Just looking at them made one’s appetite soar. Li Chu tasted several pieces and narrowed his eyes in satisfaction.
As expected, only what you eat into your stomach is truly yours.
Shao Tingyue was chatting with Zhong Yili on the other side of the deck. The sea breeze tousled his hair a bit, making his features look even sexier, like a star in a classic Hong Kong film.
Li Chu stuffed lobster meat into his mouth, looking at the azure sea, then at the man not far away, and suddenly recalled another matter.
Logically speaking, Shao Tingyue was thirty years old this year. People like Zhong Yili had already entered into marriage, so why had he never seen any women appear by his side?
Not just seen, even the gossip newspapers he had been reading lately didn’t have any rumors about the Shipping Magnate’s scandal.
Usually, he just went between home and the company, rarely socialized, and was an absolute old-fashioned stick-in-the-mud.
Could he like men?
Wake up! This is Hong Kong in the eighties. Although the economy was already highly developed, the outlook on gay men was likely not as open-minded as in the future.
Li Chu took another secret peek at him. Gay men seem to like wearing white socks. He isn’t wearing any.
Instead, he was wearing a pair of red-soled handmade leather shoes that somehow looked a bit flamboyant.
Just as he was lost in thought, someone handed him a skewer of freshly grilled lobster, the tail shell already peeled. “Is it Chu Zai? Try it, it’s fresh off the grill.”
It was Alex, his smile bright and straightforward.
“Thanks.” Li Chu took it distractedly and bit into a large chunk without even looking.
However, the next second, Li Chu let out a cry of pain. His eye sockets turned red instantly. Why is it so hot?
Alex’s expression changed, and he was at a loss. “Sorry, I forgot to warn you just now.”
In his panic, he reached out, wanting to touch Li Chu’s cheek, but another pair of hands was faster.
Shao Tingyue had appeared by his side at some point. He pinched Li Chu’s jaw with a bit of force, forcing him to tilt his head and open his mouth. “Spit it out.”
The young people nearby who had been chatting stopped and looked over. Zhong Yili signaled the waiter to hurry and fetch ice and mouthwash.
Li Chu, his eyes blurry with tears, obediently spat out the piece of shrimp meat. His tongue had been scalded.
Shao Tingyue frowned, examining it closely in the light. His fingers tightened on the boy’s cheek, his voice deepening. “You can get burned even just by eating? What were you thinking about just now?”
Li Chu kept his mouth open, blinking his peach blossom eyes innocently.
Thinking about what? Thinking about whether you are gay!
The waiter quickly brought ice cubes and mouthwash. Shao Tingyue unscrewed the cap, let Li Chu take a sip, and then spit it out. He then put two ice cubes into a plastic freezer bag and gently pressed it against the spot on the tip of Li Chu’s tongue to cool it down.
Only after this whole procedure was finished did Li Chu feel that it wasn’t as painful, though his jaw was a bit sore from keeping his mouth open.
Shao Tingyue maintained the same posture. After about a few minutes of applying the ice, Li Chu gradually felt that something was not quite right.
At this moment, the surroundings were eerily quiet. Everyone was watching them.
The Shipping Magnate Shao Tingyue, who was always so noble and aloof, and who was accustomed to keeping a distance from people, was actually unscrewing the bottle cap himself to let the boy rinse his mouth, and then meticulously applying an ice pack to his tongue.
A few young boys exchanged glances. When they looked at Li Chu again, the initial flippancy was gone.
Even the Shipping Magnate was serving him personally. Who would dare to believe it if word got out?
“I am truly sorry!” Alex’s face flushed red, and he apologized again in a fluster. “I didn’t expect it to be so hot. I should have let it cool down a bit before giving it to you.”
Li Chu still had the ice pack pressed to his tongue. He gave a muffled “Mm,” shook his head, and tried to speak clearly. “It is okay. It was my own fault for being distracted.”
Shao Tingyue then released his grip on the boy’s jaw and shoved the ice pack into Li Chu’s own hand. “Keep pressing it yourself. Do not take it off until it does not hurt anymore.”
Li Chu nodded and looked regretfully at the delicious food on the grill. He hadn’t eaten enough yet.
Shao Tingyue saw through his little plan and frowned. “These things are easy to cause internal heat, you are not allowed to eat any more.” With that, he ordered the chef to boil some light porridge.
It wasn’t just plain white porridge. The chef boiled a small bowl of soft, fragrant, and glutinous rice porridge in a small stewing pot, adding dried scallops, fresh shrimp, and snail slices. A bit of ginger thread was added to remove the fishy smell, and finally, a few pinches of celery were sprinkled on top.
When Li Chu smelled the aroma, his little face lit up. It was as if there were stars in his eyes.
Shao Tingyue let the porridge cool to a warm temperature before serving it to him. “Eat.”
Zhong Yili leaned against the bar, taking everything in. He looked at his friend’s profile, then at Li Chu, who had wet corners of his eyes, and a thoughtful look flickered in his own eyes.
Something isn’t quite right with my good brother.
The yacht was fully equipped with entertainment facilities. In the afternoon, the group went to the K-room on the lower deck to sing. Alex enthusiastically invited Li Chu to join and introduced him to the other young people.
Boys of this age, because of their privileged family backgrounds, were somewhat arrogant and vain, but they weren’t essentially bad. Li Chu spent the afternoon playing with them and gradually became familiar with them.
When he was tired of singing karaoke, someone suggested playing cards. Li Chu had lost continuously the last time he played at the banquet, and after he got drunk and fell into the pool, he was lectured by Shao Tingyue.
This time, he was particularly cautious and politely declined. If he got drunk again, it would be the sea he fell into, not a pool. He still remembered vividly how cold and dark the seawater was that time he fell in.
Alex didn’t have an interest in that either, so he stayed with Li Chu in the K-room to chat. Learning that he was about to enroll at the University of Hong Kong, he looked surprised. “In our circle, we usually send our younger generation abroad to study. I am going to the UK in three months, too. Mr. Shao did not consider sending you abroad?”
Li Chu shook his head. He didn’t know what Shao Tingyue thought, but the Matriarch felt at ease only when she saw him every day. For this sea voyage, she had even thrown the holy cups before Mazu several times. It was only after she got permission that she did not stop him.
Alex then recalled something and said, “That is true. I heard the Matriarch has been in the hospital several times this year, and the situation is not very optimistic. Since you just came back, she must be very reluctant to let you go abroad.”
Hearing this, Li Chu tilted his head and frowned. “Not very optimistic?”
He knew the Matriarch had just undergone heart surgery, and he thought she was already fine, that she just needed to pay attention to her recuperation every day. So, even outsiders knew her health condition was not good.
Shao Tingyue had never mentioned this to him.
Seeing his expression, Alex realized he might have spoken too much and hurriedly changed the subject. “But HKU is also very good! My cousin is studying architecture there.”
Li Chu was clearly still worried, his face hanging with sorrow.
Alex sighed and comforted him. “The Matriarch is already seventy this year, so it is normal for elderly people to have many illnesses. With the Shao family’s financial resources, medical resources are absolutely top-notch. Even if there is anything, it can be cured.”
Li Chu thought about it, and it was true. Shao Tingyue’s handling style was obviously that of someone who had everything under control, unflappable. It made people feel that no matter what happened, seeing him would make one feel at ease.
Dinner was Western-style. Li Chu’s tongue was still a bit painful, so he ate a few bites and returned to his room.
Only after entering the room did he have the opportunity to take a good look at the master suite.
The space was extremely spacious. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows was the ink-blue vast sea and the starry sky, as if the entire sea area were private property.
An incredibly large bed was positioned in the center. The dark gray velvet bedding had a high-end texture, and the end of the bed was sprinkled with a layer of fresh rose petals. There were also two bathrobes of different sizes.
A pair of uniquely shaped aromatherapy candles were lit on the bedside table. The fragrance was rich, and the candlelight flickered.
Were these arranged by the yacht butler?
Focusing on a sense of ceremony was a good thing, but it was very strange when it fell upon him and Shao Tingyue.
Taking advantage of the fact that Shao Tingyue hadn’t returned yet, Li Chu hurriedly swept all the petals down and blew out the two aromatherapy candles.
After doing all this, he finally felt that it wasn’t so awkward anymore. But when he turned back, he saw the translucent frosted glass of the bathroom, vaguely revealing the bathtub and mirror inside.
Li Chu felt his vision go black, and as he braced himself with his elbows, he accidentally knocked over the box on the cabinet.
A bunch of boxes fell out with a clatter. He squatted down, picked them up to look at them, and his face froze.
He recognized the English on top: Condoms! And why was this pattern so perverted? What was with these raised little bumps?
Was it a morning star mace?
The room door was suddenly pushed open. Li Chu shook all over, and in a flurry, he tried to pick everything up.
Shao Tingyue stood at the door, looking down at him from above. His black eyes fell upon the extra-large condom in his hand. “What are you doing?”
