Chapter 50.2: In The Amusement Park, Zhu Yunqi’s Fairy Tale Ended.
As she spoke, it felt as if there was a hard stone stuck in her throat, making her feel like every word she said was bleeding.
She then pressed on, “The contract is over. Without Wen Yue’s involvement, can we not be friends?”
Before Shi Li could answer, Tang Yingchi came out with the two little ones, one in each hand. Shi Li, with lightning speed, took back the card she had handed to Zhu Yunqi, acted as if nothing had happened, and smiled as she pinched the little girl’s cheek.
Lan Yang was also walking toward them with drinks.
It was still early, so Tang Yingchi suggested that they all go for a “farewell dinner” after they were done playing.
The reason was solid. “Lan Yang and Zhu Yunqi are going back to the Black Star Belt to fix mechs in three days. We don’t know when they’ll be back next time. We’re their few friends in Z3291, so of course we have to have a proper farewell dinner. Lan Yang is treating.”
Lan Yang immediately refused. “I’m not treating!”
Tang Yingchi glared at her. “I treated last time. It’s your turn.”
Lan Yang raised her hands in surrender. “Okay, okay, I’ll treat.”
Zhu Yunqi looked at Shi Li, and a light of hope shone in her eyes.
Shi Li hardened her heart. “I can’t. I’ve already made plans to have dinner with Wen Yue.”
“Oh, come on. You and Wen Yue are both in Stardew. You can eat dinner any day. Just ditch her.” Tang Yingchi reached out to pull Shi Li’s hand.
“No, Yingchi, I really can’t today.”
Shi Li looked very conflicted.
Zhu Yunqi couldn’t bear to see her struggle. She said on her own accord, “I’m taking the twins home to eat. My sister’s family is all here, which is rare, so I’m not going either.”
If Shi Li couldn’t eat with her at the same table, she would rather Shi Li have a good meal by Wen Yue’s side. She hadn’t seen her in a few days, and Shi Li had gotten even thinner. It made her feel terrible.
Tang Yingchi was very disappointed. “Ah, so it’s just Lan Yang and me eating together.”
Lan Yang pretended to be angry. “Is it that much of a grievance to eat with me? I’m pretty too. Look at how much the older twin likes me.”
Tang Yingchi impatiently pushed her. “Get out of here! I’ve been your tour guide for this whole time. I’m so exhausted, I’m about to die.”
Her tone was a little harsh, but her eyes were smiling.
The dinner party was a failure. They continued to play with the twins for a while. The two little ones tired quickly. At around 5 p.m., the older twin was so tired that she fell asleep in Lan Yang’s arms, and the younger twin was yawning while hugging Shi Li’s leg.
Zhu Yunqi picked both of them up. Luckily, she was strong, so it was not a problem to hold two at once.
“I’m taking them home now.”
The remaining three waved goodbye. “Bye-bye! Take the twins out to play again next time.”
Before she turned around, Zhu Yunqi’s gaze lingered on Shi Li for a few more seconds, as if she wanted to say something else, but in the end, she just slightly moved her lips and left in silence.
The Alpha’s tall and straight back moved through the crowd. For the first time, she seemed a little lonely and defeated.
The older twin was completely captivated by Lan Yang’s hair and was sound asleep on Zhu Yunqi’s shoulder. The younger twin was not asleep. She struggled to keep her tired eyes open, counting in her head how many times her aunt had smiled today. It seemed like she had smiled many times, and each time was when she looked at that Omega auntie.
The younger twin wrapped her arms around Zhu Yunqi’s neck, rubbed her soft little face against her neck, and said in a milky voice, “Auntie, I like that auntie, too.”
“Why do you like her?”
“That auntie is so soft and smells so good. Her hair is curly like Mom’s, and her voice is so nice, like she’s lulling a child to sleep.” The younger twin came to a serious conclusion. “That auntie reminds me of Mom.”
The younger twin looked up and suddenly noticed that her aunt’s eyes were red.
“Auntie, are you crying? Let me wipe it for you.”
Her little hand smeared across Zhu Yunqi’s face.
Zhu Yunqi sniffled. She didn’t know what was going on. For a moment, her eyes felt incredibly sore, and a thin mist involuntarily welled up in them.
It was so bad that she almost couldn’t see the road clearly.
It was probably because she couldn’t say a proper goodbye to Shi Li and had confirmed that there would be no second chance to say goodbye.
Zhu Yunqi blinked hard, suppressing that annoying mist.
“Auntie’s fine. Something got in my eye. Auntie will take you home to find your mom and dad.”
…
As soon as Zhu Yunqi left, Tang Yingchi pulled Shi Li aside for an “interrogation.” Lan Yang wanted to join in but was mercilessly rejected by Tang Yingchi, so she could only chew on her straw boredly from a distance.
“Did you and Zhu Yunqi have a fight?”
Shi Li shook her head. “No.”
Tang Yingchi didn’t believe her. “Something is definitely going on with you two. You two feel very strange today.”
It seemed like they both wanted to get closer to each other, but they were also avoiding each other.
Like two caterpillars who were having a tantrum.
Tang Yingchi naturally assumed that they had a fight. She and Shi Li had also had a few small fights before. Every time they made up, they were in this awkward state. The two caterpillars would slowly move closer, and tentatively poke each other’s bodies with their antennae, and then they would make up.
Shi Li and Zhu Yunqi’s caterpillar antennae were both retracted today.
“We really didn’t fight. What would we even fight about? Besides, Zhu Yunqi isn’t the type to argue. I’m just a little tired.” Shi Li explained.
Tang Yingchi stared at her eyes and said with certainty, “Something’s off with you. You’re definitely hiding something from me.”
Shi Li had no choice but to say, “I had a fight with Wen Yue.”
Tang Yingchi: “…”
“With Wen Yue, huh. Well, you can just fight with her. I’m too lazy to get involved in your business anymore.”
No wonder Zhu Yunqi was also weird today. The couple she was shipping had a fight. As a fan, she was also feeling sad.
“But are you really not going to have a proper farewell dinner with Zhu Yunqi? Lan Yang told me that they don’t know when their next vacation will be. The Upper Star Domain and the Black Star Belt are so far apart. It’s so hard to see each other. Don’t let Wen Yue affect your friendship with Zhu Yunqi.”
“I…”
Shi Li mumbled, hesitating for a long time, not knowing what to say. Tang Yingchi saw her absent-minded state and knew that she wasn’t listening to anything she was saying. “Ah, forget it. Just do whatever makes you happy.”
Shi Li: “I’m going to go find Wen Yue first.”
Tang Yingchi waved her hand. “Go on, go on.”
Shi Li said hello to Lan Yang and then walked toward the exit.
She walked slowly, with her head slightly lowered. Just from her back, you could tell that she was heavy with thoughts.
Lan Yang came up to Tang Yingchi and looked at Shi Li’s back. She said with certainty, “They definitely had a conflict with Captain Zhu. I’m not sure about Shi Li, but I know Captain Zhu very well. Her heart was broken just now.”
Tang Yingchi recalled Zhu Yunqi’s behavior at the amusement park. It was weird, but was it “heartbreak” level of sadness?
“How was she that sad?”
Lan Yang was very confident. “She likes Shi Li, but unfortunately, Shi Li has a partner. And now they’re about to be separated. Of course she’s sad. Since the day I met her, her face has been almost completely expressionless. If she shows even a little bit of emotion, it means her world has already been turned upside down. Captain Zhu is the type of person who feels a hundred percent but only shows one-tenth of a percent. Look at how she just said goodbye to us coldly. She might be secretly crying as soon as she turns around.”
Tang Yingchi looked at the confident Lan Yang. So there was a complete idiot who was out of the loop.
She shook her head helplessly. “I think you’re the one who doesn’t understand anything.”
Lan Yang jumped. “What part of what I said is wrong?”
“Do you know that your Captain Zhu is the head shipper of Li Bao and Wen Yue?” Tang Yingchi cruelly revealed the truth to Lan Yang. “Li Bao and Wen Yue had a fight. The main characters aren’t giving out candy anymore. They’re giving out knives. Zhu Yunqi is sad about that. And when she goes back to the Black Star Belt, she won’t be able to ship them in person anymore. Of course she’s sad.”
Lan Yang was caught off guard and was fed a bunch of information that was beyond her comprehension. “What kind of nonsense are you talking about?”
“Li Bao told me herself. It’s the real deal.”
Lan Yang looked in the direction where Zhu Yunqi and Shi Li had disappeared, only seeing a bunch of strangers’ backs. She turned her gaze back to Tang Yingchi and saw that Tang Yingchi had a serious face and didn’t look like she was joking at all. Finally, she stammered, “The Federation has developed to a point I don’t understand anymore. It’s impossible. Captain Zhu doesn’t like Shi Li? Something’s not right. There must be something wrong with this…”
Tang Yingchi patted her on the butt. “Okay, okay. Don’t think about it anymore. Let’s play for a little longer before we go eat.”
After she got to know Lan Yang better, she would occasionally want to pat her butt.
An Alpha’s butt was perky and firm. Plus, Lan Yang worked out regularly to stay in shape, so it felt especially good to pat. Tang Yingchi’s own and Shi Li’s butts felt soft and not as firm.
The first time she saw Lan Yang, Tang Yingchi was so mesmerized by her sexy body that her nose bled. Lan Yang would often tease her about this later. But besides the first time they met, every time Tang Yingchi was around, Lan Yang would obediently wear clothes that showed less skin, even though Lan Yang herself didn’t like that style of dressing.
Lan Yang grabbed Tang Yingchi’s restless hand.
“You can’t just touch an Alpha’s butt, you know? I’ve noticed you’re a pervert lately. You got a nosebleed the first time you saw me, and now you’re patting my butt every day. Are you addicted?”
Lan Yang was strong. Tang Yingchi’s hand was caught by her and she couldn’t pull it out, so she just let her keep holding it.
Tang Yingchi was in the wrong but she was also in the right. “What, do I have to pay to pat your butt?”
Patting it every day… she was a little addicted.
Lan Yang’s butt was the best-feeling butt she had ever touched.
“When I go back to the Black Star Belt, you won’t be able to touch it anymore. Let’s see what you’ll do then. The withdrawal symptoms will be hard to bear, you know.” Lan Yang scoffed.
Tang Yingchi suddenly couldn’t smile anymore.
Lan Yang had a sharp tongue and was a bit of a tease. She would talk in a childish way that only kids would say, all while having a beautiful and alluring face. Without her realizing it, she had gotten used to Lan Yang’s presence.
She lifted her chin. “There are so many good butts in the Federation. If I touch a few more, I’m sure I’ll find one that’s better than yours.”
“Once you’ve seen the ocean, you’ll find the rivers are just streams. Once you’ve touched my butt, you won’t feel anything when you touch others. If you can’t stop thinking about me, you can video call me anytime.” Lan Yang said with conviction.
“I won’t think about you.” Tang Yingchi said. Then she added the second half with less confidence, “Or your butt.”
Lan Yang laughed. “Then what if I miss you and call you? Will you answer?”
Tang Yingchi was very arrogant. “It depends on my mood.”
Lan Yang: “Then I’ll try to call you every day. I’m bound to catch you in a good mood sometime.”
Tang Yingchi: “Are you saying that your subtext is ‘I’ll think about you every day’?”
Lan Yang: “Congratulations, smart and adorable Ms. Tang Yingchi. You got it right.”
Tang Yingchi shrieked. “I’m not your girlfriend. Why would you think about me every day? That’s terrifying!”
Lan Yang: “Who says only a girlfriend can think about you? Good friends can, too.”
Tang Yingchi shook her head repeatedly. “No, no. You are too scary, woman. I need to stay far away from you.”
She shook off Lan Yang’s hand and ran off with her milk tea in the sunset.
Watching her back, Lan Yang was lost in thought for a moment.
She quickly chased after her.
“If you want to get far away from me, then I’ll chase after you and get a little closer to you.”
