- After Returning from a Faked Death, My Crazed, Rebellious Disciple Forced His Love Upon Me
- Chapter 2 - He Must Want to Use You as a Cultivation Vessel
The sect Ji Chen belonged to was named the Wuji Sect. It was the preeminent sect in the Immortal Realm, situated atop Changle Peak, which sat at the very center of the realm.
At the foot of the mountain were several bustling towns. The largest of these was Linxian Town, where Ji Chen frequently went to buy wine. Unfortunately, his money was only enough for drinking. If it were not for his lack of funds, he would have loved to visit the brothels to see the beautiful girls. After all, he was twenty-five years old and still a virgin from birth, a premium-grade bachelor. He liked beautiful women, but beautiful women did not like him.
In his previous life, he was the Sword Ancestor. If it had not been for the plot constraints preventing him from going out of character, he would have married ten wives long ago. Raising three male disciples was nowhere near as delightful as marrying ten beautiful girls. In this life, although he had a poor background, he figured if he saved enough money to leave the sect and return to secular life, he might actually manage to marry someone.
Clinging to this beautiful vision, Ji Chen held his wine bowl and let out a chuckle.
“Have you heard?” “Heard what?”
While he was laughing happily, Ji Chen’s attention was caught by the whispering behind him.
“That matter. Yesterday, the Blue Moon Gate, one of the six major immortal sects, was attacked by demonic cultivators. The casualties were heavy.” “And then?” “Naturally, the Blue Moon Gate sought help from the Wuji Sect on Changle Peak. However, if the Wuji Sect, the world’s top immortal sect, takes action, a long and drawn-out war between Immortals and Demons will be unavoidable.”
“Why are they fighting again? We finally had twenty years of peace. If they start a war, will it not be us innocent civilians who suffer?” “Exactly! I only hope the Sect Leader of the Wuji Sect considers it carefully and has a good talk with the Demon Realm. Please, let there be no more fighting!” “Right, right! That Sect Leader is said to be the only true successor of the Sword Ancestor and holds the title of ‘Sword Immortal.’ Since he is called an Immortal, he should at least care whether we live or die.”
“You cannot really blame the Sect Leader. If you are going to blame someone, blame the Demon Venerable for indulging his demonic subordinates and letting them provoke trouble.” “Sigh. We cannot blame anyone. We can only blame ourselves for being too weak. We are just fish on the chopping block, left to the mercy of these powerful figures.”
Ji Chen had thought it was some juicy gossip, but it turned out to be this common and tedious topic. The struggle between Immortals and Demons had existed since ancient times. While the previous conflicts had nothing to do with him, the ones in the last five hundred years certainly did. After all, he was the one who raised two disciples who spent every waking moment fighting each other.
The Sect Leader of the Wuji Sect was his Eldest Disciple. The Demon Venerable of the Demon Realm was, naturally, his Third Disciple. These two had been fighting since the moment they entered his tutelage and were still at it now. Moreover, knowing their temperaments, he was certain they would never sit down for a peaceful chat.
However, the “slap in the face” came remarkably fast.
As soon as Ji Chen returned to the sect and entered his room, the Managing Elder tossed a letter at him. Ji Chen initially thought it was a love letter. He wondered if the Managing Elder, at his advanced age, actually had such preferences.
To his shock, when he opened it, he was dumbfounded. The letter clearly stated: The Immortal Sects have accepted a peace treaty with the Demon Realm. The condition for the treaty was to select a sword cultivator to be sent to Nine-Slay City in the Demon Realm for a political marriage with the Demon Venerable.
The person chosen for that marriage was none other than Ji Chen. It was a decision made by a vote involving all disciples and elders of the sect, and it had passed unanimously. Furthermore, the most ironic part was that he was not even allowed to participate in the vote.
Ji Chen froze for a few seconds. Once he snapped out of it, he pointedly asked the Managing Elder, “Excuse me, what exactly does ‘political marriage’ mean?”
“Becoming a Dao companion. You are in luck; you get to become the Dao companion of the Demon Venerable.”
It was unclear if that was meant to be comforting. Ji Chen felt like crying, but no tears came. “He has never even met me. He surely does not like me, right?”
“Certainly not.” The Managing Elder finally told the truth. “He must want to use you as a cultivation vessel. So, it does not matter who he marries, as long as they can assist his cultivation. If you accidentally die, he can just find a replacement.”
Ji Chen knew it.
Besides, this “Third” was the person he least wanted to see again. It was obvious. Why would a perfectly fine disciple of the Sword Ancestor choose the path of demonic cultivation unless he had lost his mind? The only possibility was that he had been driven to it by relentless abuse and was forced into becoming a demon.
Ji Chen was the one who had forced him.
Ji Chen refused to give up. “But I do not have a spiritual root. What is the point of him using me as a vessel for cultivation?”
The Managing Elder shot him a glance, looking impatient. “Regardless, he only specified he wanted a sword cultivator. He did not say the sword cultivator had to have a spiritual root.”
The subtext was clear: the sect was delivering the goods, and whether they worked or not was no longer their concern. Ji Chen was speechless, yet he had no way to argue.
To prevent Ji Chen from escaping, the Managing Elder placed a restriction on him. With the restriction active, he could not even leave the sect grounds. All he could do was wait for tomorrow, when he would be tied up and delivered to Nine-Slay City in the Demon Realm.
