- Chapter 5 - He Can Hear His Disciple's Inner Thoughts
Thinking of the figure in the large black robe from his dream, Lin Sui looked toward the source of the sound, still shaken. He saw Xiao Qingyan, whose face was even paler than before, kneeling upright ten paces away from his bed.
The area where Xiao Qingyan knelt had already formed a pool of blood. Seeing this, Lin Sui’s face turned pale, and his head began to swim. A strong surge of nausea threatened to break through his throat, but he forcibly suppressed it, causing tears to well up in his eyes.
Xiao Qingyan watched the red-eyed Lin Sui with a cold gaze, sneering inwardly.
“Hypocritical and affected. There is no one else here; what are you putting on an act for?”
Lin Sui’s movement of wiping his tears paused. He thought he had just heard someone speaking. That was not right. He listened again.
“Ding-ling-ling! Does Master Host miss me? I am your exclusive system, 888. You can call me Dafu. Once an exclusive system is bound, it cannot be changed. Of course, if you insist on changing, the only way is for the host to kick the bucket!”
Oh, it was this dog of a system!
Lin Sui decisively chose to lie back down. He leaned back, closed his eyes, and tried to force himself to sleep.
“Do not sleep! Host, completing the mission earns you a billion!”
Lin Sui was unimpressed. He thought to himself that he did not need it. His family was wealthy, owning twenty companies and a hundred hotel chains; he did not care for a billion.
The system replied, “Oh boy, I have bound a rich second-generation heir. I am out of luck.”
The system secretly rubbed its hands, winked, and spoke in a high-pitched, cutesy voice. “Dear Master Host, does your family need any more employees? I can do it! Not for 99.99 million, but for just 9.99 million, you can buy me!”
Lin Sui turned over, feeling utterly disgusted. “No, thank you. My family does not need an artificial idiot.”
“I am not an artificial idiot! I am more intelligent than an artificial idiot!”
“Oh.”
Lin Sui was not interested. He turned back and continued trying to sleep.
The system became serious. It held a fist to its mouth and coughed, its eyebrows knitting together.
“Is Master Host really happy staying in this world? If you do not clear the levels and defeat the monsters, you will not be able to go back. Your family’s companies and hotels will all be gone.”
Lin Sui sat up abruptly, as if startled from death. “That is unfair! I never agreed to this!”
“Oh, our business involves forced buying and selling. We do not care whether you agree or not!”
The system produced a handkerchief out of nowhere, gave it a flick, and covered its mouth. It looked like the personification of a crooked merchant.
“No thanks. That is the villain. I am not doing it.”
While unconscious, he had received all the plot details regarding the people around the original owner. He had previously thought the kneeling youth was cute and well-behaved, but who knew he would become a major villain in the future? Moreover, he was a perverted villain who would gouge out the original owner’s heart and force him to swallow it!
He was not a fool. If he were not careful, he would walk straight down the original owner’s old path.
The system grinned wickedly, and two chains as thick as wrists appeared in its hands.
“Well, Master Host, here is a silver chain and a gold chain. Which one do you choose?”
It was not hard to imagine what those chains were for.
Lin Sui forced a strained smile. “Fine. Tell me, how do I redeem the villain?”
He did not think the word redemption carried much positive meaning. To put it nicely, it was redemption; to put it bluntly, it was moral kidnapping.
“Just let the villain steal the male lead’s scenes!”
The system was very satisfied with Lin Sui’s pragmatism and continued to instruct him.
“How you redeem him and what identity you use is up to you! As long as the villain steals the male lead’s role and completely erases the character of the male lead, everything will be fine!”
After the system went offline, Lin Sui tossed and turned, unable to sleep. As soon as he sat up, he saw the pool of blood and the blood-stained villain again, so he chose to collapse back onto the bed.
He cursed under his breath, remembering he fainted at the sight of blood.
Redeeming the villain had failed at the very first step: fainting at the sight of blood. If he could not go back, so be it. At least he had money here too.
Xiao Qingyan watched Lin Sui sit up and lie down repeatedly, unsure of what he was planning.
“Master.”
He was unwilling to let such a good opportunity pass. As long as his Master approached him voluntarily, he could release the black energy he had just hidden. One killing blow would be enough. If the Sect Leader tried to kill him then, he could simply say his Master had succumbed to demonic possession and died from the backlash of demonic energy.
But why had he not come over yet?
Xiao Qingyan frowned irritably. The distance was too great, and he could not guarantee a killing blow. Moreover, there was a barrier set up by a high-level cultivator around the bed. He only had enough certainty if he lured Lin Sui right in front of him.
He only realized it was demonic energy the moment it entered his body. Strangely, the energy did not resist him; instead, it affectionately nurtured the spiritual energy running wild inside him.
“Master, I am in so much pain!”
With red eyes, Xiao Qingyan moved his knees forward. He had barely moved when golden spiritual energy transformed into a blade, cutting a thin line of blood across his neck as a warning.
Hearing Xiao Qingyan call him, Lin Sui hesitated before sitting up again. He stepped onto the floor barefoot and walked toward Xiao Qingyan.
Surprise flashed in Xiao Qingyan’s eyes. Had Senior Uncle Mo not said that Master was temporarily blind because he had forcibly circulated his spiritual energy?
He let out a very faint, cold laugh in his mind. “Master is truly going to any lengths to pretend to be blind just to gain sympathy.”
Lin Sui was shocked. Were those the villain’s inner thoughts? He realized he was supposed to be blind. If the villain thought he was pretending, he would pretend to the very end.
Lin Sui raised his hand to feel the air in front of him, his tone full of doubt. “Yan’er?”
The cold sneer froze on Xiao Qingyan’s face. He watched in disbelief as the frail man bent halfway, his left hand groping forward. A pair of icy eyes stared blankly ahead, with tears still lingering in the corners.
His pale complexion made the cinnabar mark on his brow look even more enchanting. His slender fingers had prominent joints, and his porcelain-white fingertips showed a hint of pink. He was only a finger’s width away from poking Xiao Qingyan in the eye.
Xiao Qingyan was not afraid at all. He waited calmly for Lin Sui’s next move.
Lin Sui did not even dare to breathe heavily. The thick scent of blood made him feel faint. Fortunately, he was pretending to be blind, so he could stare straight ahead; otherwise, he would definitely collapse.
But why was the villain not afraid? As a person who could see, how could he not dodge a finger that was about to poke his eye? He did not believe it. With that thought, he pushed his hand further forward.
The villain remained motionless.
Lin Sui bit his lip and closed his eyes tightly, his long eyelashes trembling. Since that was the case, he would just have to poke the villain blind!
His finger touched the villain’s thick eyelashes, and he felt a ticklish sensation on his fingertip.
“Yan’er?”
As he spoke, he continued to push his finger forward while complaining in his heart. This villain’s eyelashes were so long, just like a girl’s. Why did he need such long eyelashes?
Then, his finger touched something warm, and Lin Sui shuddered. Had he really committed such an atrocious act?
“Master, I am here.”
Xiao Qingyan was now convinced that Lin Sui could not see. He grabbed Lin Sui’s wrist and pulled downward, causing the man to stumble a step forward.
“Yan’er, you, the Sect Leader did not make things difficult for you, did he?”
Lin Sui put on an expression of helplessness. “It is because I cannot protect you. I have no choice but to let you stay in the Outer Sect for a while. Once I come out of seclusion, I will bring you home.”
Xiao Qingyan thought, “What a performance. Showing such fake concern just to give me false hope? Is it so you can continue to torture me once my wounds are healed?”
Lin Sui was momentarily stunned by Xiao Qingyan’s inner thoughts. Just how many terrible things had the original owner done to make the villain so distrustful? But since he had already started the act, he had to see it through.
He reached out and felt around in the air a few times before placing his hand on top of Xiao Qingyan’s head, stroking his hair.
“You will have to suffer for a few days, Yan’er. When I leave seclusion, I will immediately bring you home.”
Xiao Qingyan thought, “There is no need to wait. There will be no good outcome waiting for me. It is better to control the demonic energy and kill this person now. Then I can turn around and claim that Master fell into a demonic state himself. After all, dead men tell no tales.”
Lin Sui’s hand, which was stroking Xiao Qingyan’s hair, suddenly grew heavy, pulling out a few strands of black hair. He quickly dropped them to the ground. He pulled his hand back from Xiao Qingyan’s grasp and retreated.
But he was one step too late.
The moment the demonic energy emerged from Xiao Qingyan’s fingertips, it shot straight into the center of Lin Sui’s brow. The cinnabar mark was stained dark green by the demonic energy, but after a moment, it returned to normal.
