- Chapter 36 - The Disciple Goes Crazy, Demanding His Junior Brother's Affection
Feng Feibai’s face was covered in blood and dirt, his lips were dry and cracked, and his eyes anxiously stared at Xiao Qingyan and Lin Sui.
“Senior Brother Feng, we came to save you!” Lin Sui said firmly.
“Junior Brother Lin, you two cannot defeat him. Do not listen to his words! Leave quickly!” Feng Feibai’s tone was even more resolute. He summoned a weak trace of spiritual power from his palm, intending to send the two away. Because he forced his spiritual power to activate, the ghostly aura around his body grew thicker and more intense.
The weak spiritual power in his palm flickered out, and blood trickled from the corner of his lips. Sensing the scent, a strand of the ghostly aura split off and moved to his lips to feed on it.
“Insolent fools who do not know the depth of heaven and earth!”
He Busheng shot a meaningful glance at the subordinates behind him. The latter activated the mechanism for the water dungeon, and the two men suspended in midair were slowly lowered into the water.
Screams from both Feng Feibai and Zhu Jiayu echoed simultaneously, and the ghostly aura within the water became even more dense.
“Senior Brother Zhu!” Lin Sui’s pupils contracted, and his breathing grew rapid out of pure fear.
Xiao Qingyan pointed his sword at He Busheng. “What on earth is your purpose? We are disciples of the Sanqing Sect! If you kill us, you will not live long either!”
He Busheng laughed out loud, looking at Xiao Qingyan as if he were looking at a clown. “Did you not understand what I just said? Since it was your Master who lured you over here, then your deaths are certain, and the Sanqing Sect will never find out.”
Xiao Qingyan gripped his sword with even more force. His knuckles protruded, and the veins on the back of his hand were clearly visible.
“You are talking nonsense! My Master entered secluded cultivation ten days ago. How could he possibly make a deal with you?” Xiao Qingyan tried his absolute best to maintain his composure. His Master would absolutely never hand him over to someone else. His Master was such a selfish person, so how could he possibly share him with another?
He Busheng shrugged. “Believe it or not. Either way, none of you can dream of leaving this place alive. I truly did not expect to reap such a massive harvest today.”
He walked forward with slow steps, his black robe dragging across the floor as the billowing ghostly aura tumbled behind him.
Xiao Qingyan shielded Lin Sui behind his back, holding his sword horizontally in front of him. “Are you not only after me? Release them!”
“Senior Brother Xiao.” Lin Sui had not expected the antagonist to say this, and his heart instantly leaped into his throat.
“If you had willingly chosen to stay behind from the very beginning, I certainly would have agreed to let them go.”
He Busheng lightly tapped his finger in the air. Xiao Qingyan instantly felt as though a massive mountain were pressing down upon his back, causing both of his legs to tremble violently.
He raised his head, his eyes glaring fiercely at He Busheng. “Release my junior brother and senior brothers. I will stay behind. You can kill me or hack me to pieces as you please!”
“Senior Brother Xiao! You cannot do that!” Lin Sui wanted to step forward and pull Xiao Qingyan behind him, but his wrist was tightly gripped by Xiao Qingyan.
“Junior Brother Lin!” After Xiao Qingyan spoke, he coughed up a mouthful of blood. The weight on his back grew heavier and heavier until he could no longer support himself and collapsed to his knees on the ground.
Unprepared for the sudden impact, Lin Sui felt a dull, agonizing pain flare through his own kneecaps. The veins on his forehead bulged, and his lips turned white from clenching them too hard, causing tiny beads of blood to seep through.
Damn it! He seriously suspected that the antagonist’s total lack of pain perception meant that all of the pain had been completely transferred onto his own body.
The pain in his kneecaps made it feel as though the bones inside were shattered. His natal sword materialized in his hand. Within the gloomy water dungeon, the silvery white light made Lin Sui’s entire figure look even more striking.
The white bird flew out from the blade with soft cries, spreading its wings to reach Lin Sui’s face. It held his face, pecked him gently on the cheek, and looked at him with tearful eyes.
[Oh no, Master! Why did you shrink back into your child form again?]
After giving him a tearful peck, the white bird flew into the space between Lin Sui’s eyebrows. A chilling aura immediately burst forth from those ice-cold eyes.
He Busheng’s eyelids twitched. He still felt a lingering fear toward Lin Sui. However, the smile on his face did not fade. “You are just a piece of trash who has barely completed the Qi Condensation stage. Do you really think you can defeat me and lead your senior brothers out of here?”
Zhu Jiayu had already been tortured to the point where his vision was fading to black. Suddenly hearing someone call his junior brother a piece of trash, he began to struggle violently again. While thrashing around, he roared angrily, “You monster! You are not allowed to speak about my junior brother like that! I will fight you to the death! Ah!”
He screamed fiercely as the chains holding him were released to their maximum length, plunging his entire body completely under the water.
“Senior Brother Zhu!” Lin Sui turned around and rushed toward Zhu Jiayu’s location.
Xiao Qingyan’s heart slowly grew cold. His neck was tightly wrapped by He Busheng’s ghostly aura, forcing him to turn his head and watch Lin Sui.
“My, my, look at that. You care so deeply about your junior brother, yet your junior brother only cares about his Senior Brother Zhu. What do you even amount to in his eyes?”
Xiao Qingyan watched his junior brother use that completely silver-white sword to frantically hack away at the chains covered in ghostly aura. Quite a bit of the ghostly aura had already wrapped itself around his junior brother’s arms.
“Let go of me! Otherwise, beware, because I will kill you!” Red lines climbed into Xiao Qingyan’s eyes, and his blood-colored pupils looked as though they wanted to destroy everything in the surrounding environment.
He Busheng bent down, placed his hand over the right side of Xiao Qingyan’s chest, and said softly, “Why do you care so much about your junior brother? You are not in his eyes at all. Perhaps he even wants you to die! Otherwise, knowing full well that there would be danger here, why did he insist on coming?”
[Master, Master, keep going! Let us use more strength on this chain, pull harder! I am a divine beast! I can slice anything to pieces!]
Lin Sui wanted nothing more than to use more strength, but the piercing pain in both of his knees made it difficult for him to even stand, let alone exert more power.
Although the ghostly aura on his arms could not enter his body, the disgusting sensation still made his heart shudder with dread.
With a loud crack, he finally managed to saw through one of the chains, and he immediately moved to saw the other one.
“Senior Brother Zhu, hold on! I will pull you up right away!”
Zhu Jiayu’s mouth was completely filled with water, and his stomach had swallowed a massive amount of it. His eyes were rolling back, and he spoke with gurgling sounds beneath the water.
“Junior Brother Lin, you do not care about me. Leave quickly! If you leave, I will be fine.”
Before he could even finish his words, the strength binding his wrists vanished. With a splash, his body fell forward.
Even more water poured into his mouth and nose.
Lin Sui put away his natal sword and leaped into the water. He slapped a teleportation talisman onto Zhu Jiayu’s arm. “Senior Brother Zhu, return to the sect first to bring reinforcements!”
As soon as he finished speaking, he ignited the teleportation talisman. Only then did he belatedly feel a bone-chilling cold gnawing at his kneecaps. Forcing himself to endure the intense discomfort, he swam to the surface of the water. His natal sword flew directly to the side of the already unconscious Feng Feibai.
Lin Sui climbed out of the water completely drenched, only to lock eyes with Xiao Qingyan’s distorted and furious face.
He Busheng had lost an arm and was currently pinned to the wall by Xiao Qingyan’s sword. The remaining subordinates had been turned into a pile of mangled remains on the floor.
Lin Sui had only looked away from the protagonist for a brief moment. How did this protagonist manage to successfully execute a counter-kill?
“Junior Brother,” Xiao Qingyan lifted him directly out of the water, his fingers trailing along Lin Sui’s neck.
Xiao Qingyan’s eyes were completely bloodthirsty, and a frantic possessiveness swirled within the depths of his pupils. He used his fingers to pinch Lin Sui’s sharp, slender chin.
“Why do you refuse to look at me? I am standing right next to you, so why did you go out of your way to save Senior Brother Zhu? Do you like him? Do you care about him?”
Xiao Qingyan stared at Lin Sui with an incredibly sinister gaze, wishing he could embed the person in front of him directly into his own flesh and blood. He slammed his lips over the mouth that was about to open and explain itself.
He did not want to hear his junior brother make any excuses whatsoever!
