- Chapter 12 - The Villain is Bullying Shizun
“Lin Sui.”
Lin Sui was not afraid of Xiao Qingyan’s suspicion, so he stated his real name directly. Upon hearing the words, Xiao Qingyan curled his lips, repeatedly mulling the name “Lin Sui” over in his mind.
“Lin Sui?” He let out a mocking chuckle, walked over, and snatched away the ribbon covering Lin Sui’s eyes.
When he saw a pair of pitch-black pupils, he froze for a moment. However, he quickly reasoned that changing eye color was a simple task for his Shizun.
“Mm,” Lin Sui responded indifferently.
The hand resting on his knee tightened its grip. He was gambling; he was gambling that Xiao Qingyan would let go of his suspicions.
“Your name is very similar to my Shizun’s. Moreover, my Shizun is also blind.” Xiao Qingyan’s fingers brushed over Lin Sui’s eyelids.
This was all too coincidental, forcing him to suspect that the youth before him was indeed his master. The youth’s name was only one character different from his Shizun’s, and both were blind.
“And who is your Shizun?” Lin Sui asked, feigning ignorance.
Xiao Qingyan, however, was unwilling to speak further. He secretly activated the demonic energy he had planted within his Shizun’s body. His gaze refused to miss a single expression on the youth’s face.
Sure enough, the youth pressed his hand to his lips and coughed lowly.
Xiao Qingyan’s hands, hanging at his sides, clenched into tight fists. Even as his nails dug into his palms, he felt no pain.
Did Shizun still refuse to let him go after everything?
He had suspected before that Zhu Jiayu was his Shizun in disguise, as Zhu Jiayu’s appearance had been far too convenient. But the youth in front of him seemed even more likely. Was his Shizun so perfunctory that he would even use such a similar name to dismiss him?
Thinking of this, Xiao Qingyan intensified the demonic energy with even more ruthlessness.
Lin Sui coughed for a while before straightening his back. With a pale face, he said weakly, “My apologies. I have been frail since childhood.”
When the expected agony of demonic corrosion did not occur, Xiao Qingyan’s pupils dilated. He tried once more to trigger the demonic energy inside his Shizun, yet the youth before him showed no reaction other than the previous coughing fit.
“Senior Brother, you,” Zhu Jiayu started. In the time it took him to pour tea, he returned to see Xiao Qingyan clutching the new Junior Brother’s eye ribbon, staring at him with a murderous intensity.
He rushed over to protect the newcomer. “Senior Brother, why did you take off his blindfold?”
Xiao Qingyan brushed aside Zhu Jiayu, who was trying to tie the ribbon back on. He pressed both hands against Lin Sui’s chest, attempting to sense any fluctuation of demonic energy within the youth.
However, the youth’s body was completely clean. Forget demonic energy; there was not even a trace of spiritual power to be found.
Zhu Jiayu’s eyelid twitched, and he moved to intervene.
Xiao Qingyan was faster. With both hands, he ripped open Lin Sui’s moon-white silk robe. Smooth, snow-white skin was exposed, and as he pulled further, one could faintly see the soft, pink peaks of his chest.
The thin chest heaved violently due to tension and fear. Finally, the youth pushed Xiao Qingyan away, covering his mouth and coughing until his face turned ghostly pale.
How could there be nothing!
Xiao Qingyan tried to search further down, but Zhu Jiayu stepped in and immediately blocked his path.
“Xiao, Senior Brother Xiao! What are you doing?!” He stared with wide eyes, shielding Lin Sui behind him.
Xiao Qingyan watched as Lin Sui hunched over from coughing, the veins on his fair neck bulging. He coughed for nearly fifteen minutes. Only then did Lin Sui stop. A layer of tears shimmered in his starry eyes, and his tone was apologetic.
“I am sorry. I, I am not used to such close contact with people.”
A flicker of awkwardness crossed Lin Sui’s eyes, but he quickly forced a smile. “I, I will get used to it slowly in the future.”
Xiao Qingyan’s gaze remained fixed on Lin Sui, his suspicions fading slightly. If it were a disguise, Shizun would never use such a similar name. Furthermore, when he activated the demonic energy, this person only coughed after he drew close.
It was not Shizun.
Shizun was likely struggling to survive right now. The demonic energy he had placed in his master’s body would ravage those indifferent eyes every night, even without his manual activation.
Those eyes of his master would never see again in this lifetime.
Lin Sui was incredibly relieved that he had brought pain-suppressing pills with him. While Xiao Qingyan was testing him, he had feigned coughing to swallow several of them. Fortunately, since he had changed bodies, his soul was not heavily tainted by the demonic energy.
“Senior Brother Xiao?” Lin Sui pulled his torn collar together, his face still pale. His gaze was dim, and his black pupils remained motionless.
“Senior Brother Zhu?” Panic appeared in Lin Sui’s eyes. He reached out into the air, grasping for something, looking like a tragic soul who had been abandoned. His robes were not properly tied, and as he reached out, they slipped open again.
Hearing the commotion, Zhu Jiayu turned to support him. Just as his fingers were about to touch Lin Sui’s, Xiao Qingyan moved faster and grabbed the youth’s hand.
Lin Sui’s heart tightened. He felt a reflex of fear toward Xiao Qingyan and tried to pull his hand away. But the more he struggled, the tighter Xiao Qingyan held him. The broad palm squeezed his finger joints until they throbbed with pain.
“Senior Brother Xiao,” Lin Sui’s voice was soft and weak, carrying a suppressed sob. “You are hurting me.”
Seeing Lin Sui’s pale face, the lotus mark on his forehead looking wilted and his lips devoid of blood, Zhu Jiayu felt a surge of pity. Seeing the beauty being treated so roughly, he plucked up the courage to step forward and pry Xiao Qingyan’s hand away.
Xiao Qingyan stared at Lin Sui for a long time. Just as Zhu Jiayu was about to touch him, he released Lin Sui’s hand.
His Shizun would never show such an expression!
Once Xiao Qingyan let go, Zhu Jiayu moved to fix Lin Sui’s disheveled collar. This time, his own wrist was caught. He looked up to see Xiao Qingyan’s darkened face.
“I will do it.”
Lin Sui felt a sudden chill on his chest as cold fingertips brushed against him, causing a slight itch. Fearing that Xiao Qingyan might try another trick, he scrambled to grab the hand moving across his chest. But because he could not see, he missed several times, his hands grasping at empty air.
“Senior Brother Xiao, I, I can do it myself.”
Xiao Qingyan had never dressed anyone before. His own clothes were of the simplest style, unlike the complex layers this youth wore. He failed to fasten the buttons several times.
Eventually, a hint of anger flared within him. To make matters worse, the youth would not stay still, waving his hands around in the air.
Xiao Qingyan threatened in a low voice, “Don’t move! If you keep moving, I will strip you bare!”
Lin Sui dared not move. He knew this dog, Xiao Qingyan, was entirely capable of following through on such a threat!
Zhu Jiayu did not notice the subtle tension between the two. He only saw Xiao Qingyan acting as a responsible Senior Brother, helping a blind Junior Brother with his clothes, even if he was the one who tore them in the first place.
Seeing that Xiao Qingyan had finished, he quickly said, “Senior Brother Xiao, Junior Brother Lin, let us go to the cafeteria! It is getting late; if we go any later, there might be nothing left to eat.”
Lin Sui did not know what time it was. His original body had long since reached the stage of Bigu, so he did not feel hunger after a day without food. However, Xiao Qingyan was only at the Foundation Building stage, and Zhu Jiayu had only joined three months ago.
Neither had reached Bigu. Humans are made of iron, but food is the fuel; skip a meal, and you will feel the hunger.
“Then let us go,” Lin Sui said, standing up and grabbing his wooden cane.
“Junior Brother Lin! Let me help you!” Zhu Jiayu rushed over, but before he could even touch a sleeve, Lin Sui’s body swayed and fell directly into Xiao Qingyan’s arms.
