Some time later.
Leo finished his conversation with Friedrich and left the Emperor’s office.
Dex, who had been waiting outside the door, followed behind Leo.
“What’s that?”
“This?”
Leo shrugged when Dex showed interest in the envelope, handing it over.
“A gift.”
“A gift?”
“He even takes care of things like this, in case I get bored. It’s almost too much.”
“What are you talking about?”
Dex frowned, quickly scanning the documents after opening the envelope, his eyes widening.
“A delegation?”
“Yeah. A gift, right?”
“It’s a gift.”
He couldn’t deny it.
Considering the grand scheme Leo and Dex were preparing, trade was a necessary component.
Dex glanced over the contents once more, his eyes gleaming as he put the documents back in the envelope.
“I’ll take care of the preparations for this.”
“You will?”
“Yeah. I’ll confirm the schedule, prepare everything, and report back to you. You just worry about how to win over the delegation. Got it?”
“What’s this? Something’s fishy. Why are you so motivated?”
“Of course. This is important. I’m overflowing with motivation, overflowing.”
Leo narrowed his eyes at Dex’s playful remark.
He suspected Dex might have another scheme in mind.
Then, agreeing that it was an important matter, he shrugged and started walking.
Behind Leo’s back, Dex quickly racked his brain, thinking.
‘This is it!’
That day, as dusk settled, several people gathered secretly in the drawing room of Moonlight Manor, including Dex, Ian and Andre, the sub-commanders of the Gray Knights who knew about the broken ancient artifact, and Jade, the head of Moonlight Manor.
“We must take advantage of this opportunity,” Dex said, beginning to share his plan after gathering them.
“I’ve learned that a princess from the Drain Kingdom is included in this delegation. We’ll use this as justification to include the Princess Consort. And we’ll have them depart a day before the delegation arrives.”
Jade raised his hand.
“What do you need me to do?”
“Send informants to Flanber Port to do some preliminary work. Make sure there’s only one room left when Leo and the Princess Consort look for accommodations.”
“Understood. In other words, you want me to force them into the same room, no matter what.”
“You truly live up to your title as the head of Moonlight Manor.”
The two, who were unusually in sync today, exchanged determined glances.
“What do you need us to do?”
The meeting continued with questions from sub-commanders Ian and Andre, and their secret plan gradually became more concrete.
It was called ‘No Vacancy!’ Operation.
At the same time, a secret meeting was also taking place in Empress Tatiana’s chambers.
“It’s been a while, Logan.”
“Yes, Your Majesty. Have you been well?”
Tatiana gazed at Logan’s face, which she hadn’t seen in years.
The passage of time couldn’t be completely erased, but he still looked neat and composed.
“Have you been well?”
Tatiana’s voice trembled slightly.
Being face to face with Logan, whom she had once considered a brother, made her feel like she had returned to those younger days.
Logan’s painted smile as he looked at her was also the same as in those younger days.
“I believe I have been well. Because a day like today has come.”
“You really haven’t changed.”
She felt a strange bitterness and lowered her gaze.
She really didn’t want to call him.
She wanted Logan to be happy.
To live an ordinary life like ordinary people.
Logan’s soft voice reached Tatiana’s ears.
“Is that so?”
Logan raised the corners of his lips and added with conviction.
“My world has not changed.”
Ever since sixteen-year-old Tatiana gifted Logan, who was living as a slave gladiator, a new life, his life had been solely focused on Tatiana.
She was beautiful, kind, and, above all, sincerely cared for Logan, who was two years younger.
The sword he had wielded to avoid death became refined to protect her. He mastered perfect manners to become her knight.
Even knowing that Tatiana only thought of him as a younger brother, he did not abandon his love for her.
The same was true even after she became Empress and entered the palace alone.
He followed her from afar, with his eyes, and did not lose the sharpness to become her sword.
Tatiana felt sorry for him, but that was enough for Logan.
A world he couldn’t dare to covet.
Because that was Tatiana.
“Give your orders comfortably, Your Majesty,” Logan requested in a firm voice.
“Just tell me what you want to achieve. I’ll worry about the method.”
“The Crown Prince Competition will be held.”
“I have heard.”
“I want Edward to win, Logan.”
“Everything.”
Logan swore, placing his hand over his heart.
“It will be done according to Your Majesty’s will.”
The next day.
Dex burst into Leo’s office with a flustered expression.
“This is a disaster! The date is wrong! It’s an emergency!”
“What are you talking about? The date is wrong?”
“The delegation! They’re arriving today, not tomorrow!”
“What?”
As Leo stood up in dismay, Dex began pushing him out, saying there was no time for this.
“You need to leave first. Take the Princess Consort with you. We can’t just leave the delegation standing on the road.”
“Hey, what are you talking about? What am I supposed to do going like this?”
“What do you mean, what are you supposed to do? You have to go greet them. Hurry, hurry, the Princess Consort will be out soon. Butler! Get this guy’s coat!”
“No, how did you make such a mistake? How can you mistake the date, that doesn’t make sense?”
“Let’s argue about it when we get back, okay? I’m the one who messed up.”
“Okay, I get it, but stop pushing me. I need to prepare.”
“We need to hurry. We’ll be late if we keep this up.”
“Geez. I get it.”
Leo, seemingly dumbfounded, quickly finished preparing.
As he walked to the entrance, listening to Dex’s explanation, he saw Isla, who looked like she had been hastily prepared, checking her own preparations.
“Isla.”
“Ah, you’re here? Fortunately, I had prepared in advance, so I packed most of the important things. Still, it’s a bit unsettling to move so suddenly.”
“What’s there to be unsettled about? Let’s just get going.”
“Yes.”
Leo took Isla’s hand as she boarded the carriage, helping her up, then turned to Dex.
“What? Aren’t you coming?”
“Go on ahead. I’ll put together a follow-up team and catch up.”
Leo narrowed his eyes at the situation, which felt strangely unnatural, and was about to say something.
“Your Highness?”
At Isla’s call, which seemed to imply, ‘Aren’t you going?’, Leo changed his mind and got into the carriage.
As soon as the door closed, Dex said through the window, as if he had been waiting for it.
“I’ve told the coachman the destination, and Jade’s informant will be waiting when you arrive. Don’t worry too much. Everything’s prepared.”
“Prepared?”
Leo frowned.
What preparations could he have made, sending people so hastily?
He felt something was strange, but he didn’t have enough time to confirm anything.
Meanwhile, Isla, with a determined look, reassured Dex.
“I’ll go ahead, Chief Aide.”
“Yes, Princess Consort. I’m counting on you.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll go quickly and greet the delegation well.”
“I trust you, Princess Consort. Please take care until the follow-up team arrives.”
The carriage departed with Dex and the servants seeing them off.
Leo took in Isla, who seemed to be carrying some great mission on her shoulders.
She was blinking her round eyes, seemingly thinking about doing well without making any mistakes.
Her inner thoughts were so transparent.
Leo, who was involuntarily raising the corners of his lips, had to turn his head to the window.
At the same time, he realized one more thing.
This was the first time she had gone out to a place other than the palace or the shopping district since she came to his townhouse.
