After Mistaking My Stepsister’s First Love - Chapter 52
Ye Wenjin froze, a blush instantly spreading across her cheeks as her gaze became flustered.
“I…”
Jian Mo watched her leisurely, her tone teasing. “Hmm, you?”
Ye Wenjin: “…”
She felt even more embarrassed.
Had her stare really been that creepy just now?
It took Ye Wenjin a while to snap out of her daze, only to meet Jian Mo’s smiling eyes.
Oh, so she was just teasing her.
Clearing her throat, Ye Wenjin finally found her voice again and muttered softly, “It’s just… because you’re really pretty.”
Though her voice was quiet, Jian Mo still heard it. Sensing the sincerity in her words, the corners of her lips curled up slightly, her mood instantly lifting.
“Is that so,”
Ye Wenjin rubbed her nose, but this time, she didn’t look away. Instead, she stared straight at her, her gaze clear and bright.
Jian Mo paused for a moment before reaching out and slowly covering Ye Wenjin’s eyes with her hand.
Confused but obedient, Ye Wenjin didn’t resist, letting her block her vision completely missing the flicker of desire that flashed through Jian Mo’s eyes.
Jian Mo chuckled softly. Ye Wenjin probably didn’t even realize it herself, but there was an untamed allure about her, one that stirred impulses the longer one looked. Now wasn’t the right time, though, so she could only cover those eyes.
But Ye Wenjin clearly had no idea what was going on. Still, since it was Jian Mo covering her eyes, she didn’t struggle, staying perfectly still under her touch.
After a long while, Jian Mo’s voice finally came again. “Sleep a little longer. We still have an hour before we arrive.”
Ye Wenjin wanted to say she wasn’t sleepy anymore, but under the soothing tone of Jian Mo’s voice and the darkness enveloping her, drowsiness gradually crept back in.
Her eyelids grew heavy, and in the end, she couldn’t fight off the sleepiness, slipping back into unconsciousness.
Only when she noticed Ye Wenjin’s breathing had evened out into a steady rhythm did Jian Mo finally lower her hand. She quietly watched her sleeping face for a long moment before slowly closing her own eyes.
When Ye Wenjin next opened her eyes, she hazily heard the airplane announcement. It took her two listens to process—they were about to land.
The previously silent cabin was now filled with faint murmurs of activity. It seemed everyone else was awake too.
After landing, Ye Wenjin was met with an overwhelmingly bright sun outside. The moment she stepped out, the heat made her squint.
They had arrived at noon, and the scorching sun was enough to make anyone dizzy. The heat instantly sapped her energy.
Luckily, they quickly found the car that had come to pick them up, letting them breathe a sigh of relief.
Even through the car window, though, Ye Wenjin felt like she could see waves of heat rising outside.
Sure enough, when they got out of the car, an even fiercer wave of heat hit her, leaving her momentarily dazed.
This was her first time experiencing such extreme weather, and for a second, she questioned her life choices.
“Oh my god, it’s so hot…”
Seeing her stunned expression, Jian Mo couldn’t help but laugh. “Coastal areas do tend to be hotter, so make sure to protect yourself from the sun.”
Ye Wenjin nodded, her brain still sluggish from the heat. But when she glanced at Jian Mo out of the corner of her eye, she noticed that the other woman seemed completely unfazed, calm from start to finish.
What an impressive skill!
Ye Wenjin’s eyes sparkled.
“Xiao Jin? Why are you looking at me? Let’s head inside first.”
Ye Wenjin quickly snapped out of her daze and hurried away from the direct sunlight to avoid the heat.
Before their arrival, Butler Wu had already arranged everything. Instead of staying at a hotel, they settled into a beachfront villa.
The villa had been cleaned by the staff in advance, and their luggage was even carried inside the moment they stepped out of the car.
Once inside, everyone felt like they had come back to life.
The sun was scorching at this time of day, making it easy to get heatstroke if they went out. So, they unanimously agreed to rest after lunch and head out later in the afternoon.
Since it was their first day, only one activity was planned diving.
During lunch, casual conversation revealed that among the group, Jian Mo was the only one who actually knew how to dive.
Ye Wenjin looked at Rong Yunshu in surprise. She had assumed the other woman could dive too, though Rong had never mentioned it, she had just taken it for granted.
Rong Yunshu shrugged. “Unfortunately, I never had the chance to learn. When I was little, my mom and the others went a few times, but they never liked taking us along. Later, I never thought to learn on my own, so here we are.”
Rong Yunjuan looked indifferent. “I’ve gone a few times with instructors, but diving on my own? No way. I’d be too scared.”
Rong Yunshu smiled helplessly.
So, Ye Wenjin turned her gaze to Chu Yunsheng.
Chu Yunsheng scratched her head. “I’ve tried diving before, but I never got certified. I wouldn’t dare go alone. Still, it’s pretty fun, just gotta push through the nerves.”
First-time divers usually need some time to adjust, especially those who can’t swim, as they naturally fear the ocean.
Zhou Wuhua ate quietly, but her ears perked up, clearly, she was interested too.
Ye Wenjin was also intrigued. Anything she hadn’t experienced before held a strong appeal for her, let alone something as exciting as diving.
But no matter how eager she was, when Jian Mo announced after lunch that it was time to rest upstairs, she obediently followed.
After waking up from her nap, Ye Wenjin felt her previously sluggish energy instantly restored. Seeing that it was already 2:30 PM, it was about time to leave.
But just as she got dressed and was about to head out, Jian Mo grabbed her. “Where are you going?”
Ye Wenjin blinked in confusion. “Aren’t we going diving?”
Jian Mo sighed and pointed at the sunscreen. “Apply sunscreen first. Aren’t you afraid of getting sunburned?”
Ye Wenjin smacked her forehead. “Oh, I forgot about that. Alright, sis, let me help you with yours first.”
Jian Mo smoothly took off her outerwear and lay down.
Ye Wenjin had spoken casually, but when it came time to actually do it, she suddenly felt a little nervous. Holding the sunscreen, she hesitated, unable to bring herself to start.
After a long pause without any movement, Jian Mo finally asked, “What’s wrong?”
Ye Wenjin froze, her eyes darting around before she quickly replied, “Nothing.”
Then, taking a deep breath, she pressed her palm against Jian Mo’s skin, focusing intently as she spread the sunscreen evenly, making sure not to miss a single spot.
Despite the air-conditioned room being at a comfortable temperature, fine beads of sweat formed on Ye Wenjin’s forehead.
Only after finishing did she turn away and exhale in relief.
Jian Mo glanced at her, then leisurely put her clothes back on. “Your turn, Xiao Jin.”
Ye Wenjin didn’t react at first, but by the time she realized what Jian Mo meant, she found that her own clothes had somehow been removed, and she was already lying down.
Her back slightly tense, Ye Wenjin started feeling nervous all over again.
Because she couldn’t see, the sensation of the hand moving across her back felt even more intense, making her increasingly nervous as she struggled to keep her thoughts from wandering.
Yet such a state couldn’t escape Jian Mo’s notice. Every reaction from Ye Wenjin was captured by her, and the moment she noticed, she deliberately slowed her movements while applying sunscreen, even raising an eyebrow in amusement.
Ye Wenjin, unaware of Jian Mo’s little game, found the experience even more unbearable. All her attention was focused on the hands smoothing sunscreen over her skin, desperately resisting the strange sensations coursing through her body.
But in the end, she couldn’t suppress a slight tremble.
The corners of Jian Mo’s lips curled up further, her mood growing even more delighted.
By the time her back was finally covered, Ye Wenjin couldn’t take it anymore. Flushing red, she quickly stood up and stammered, “I-I’ll do the rest myself.”
Squeezing out some sunscreen, she hastily began applying it, as if afraid Jian Mo might snatch the bottle away.
Jian Mo arched a brow and nodded, waiting but her gaze never left her.
Under that stare, Ye Wenjin only worked faster.
The moment she finished, she let out a quiet sigh of relief and hurriedly pulled Jian Mo downstairs.
The villa had three floors: the first and second each had three bedrooms, while the third had two. Conveniently, everyone could have their own private space on separate floors.
Ye Wenjin and Jian Mo were staying on the third floor. By the time they descended, the other four had already gathered.
Once everyone was present, they piled into the car and set off for the diving spot.
Only after the car had been moving for a while did the restless heat in Ye Wenjin’s chest finally begin to fade. Wide-eyed, she took in the scenery outside the window, occasionally letting out small exclamations of awe.
The architectural style here was unique, and with few locals around, the view was stunning aside from the slight discomfort of the heat.
The group chattered excitedly the whole way, their energy clearly restored by the afternoon nap.
Before long, the car came to a stop. Ye Wenjin followed the others out, gazing at the tranquil sea in the distance. Unconsciously, she murmured, “It’s so beautiful, the way the light dances on the water.”
The others turned at her words, suddenly inspired to take photos.
So before reaching the diving spot, they spent a good ten minutes snapping pictures.
Ye Wenjin volunteered to be the photographer, capturing plenty of solo shots for everyone. Just as she finished taking Chu Yunsheng’s turn and was about to review the photos, her phone was snatched away.
“Alright, your turn now, Wenjin,” Chu Yunsheng said, pushing her toward the photo spot before she could react.
Facing the camera alone, Ye Wenjin froze.
There was always a faint sense of embarrassment when she had to pose solo, leaving her momentarily flustered.
Seeing her hesitation, Chu Yunsheng called out, “Wenjin, strike a pose!”
In her eyes, Ye Wenjin was used to being photographed on stage, this should’ve been second nature. She hadn’t expected her to be awkward at all.
Nearby, Rong Yunshu, about to say something, was abruptly yanked by her sister. “What are you standing around for? Hurry up and take mine, make sure I look at least six feet tall!”
Rong Yunshu: “…”
Honestly, sometimes she truly didn’t understand Rong Yunjuan, even if she was her older sister.
Originally planning to quickly snap a shot and check on Ye Wenjin, by the time she turned back, she found Jian Mo had somehow slipped into the frame. The two were smiling at each other, the scene effortlessly picturesque.
The person in charge of taking photos, Chu Yunsheng, was so excited that her fingers kept pressing the shutter button incessantly.
Rong Yunshu paused, then smiled helplessly, suppressing the urge to go over.
Even though she told herself in her heart that she should let go, there were still subconscious actions from time to time. Rong Yunshu knew she could only adjust slowly.
Perhaps this trip together would be a good thing after all, the more she saw, the more she would eventually get used to it.
Meanwhile, Ye Wenjin had initially felt a bit awkward, but after Jian Mo approached, her attention was completely diverted. A smile unconsciously appeared on her face, and she momentarily forgot she was in the middle of a photoshoot.
Jian Mo reached up to smooth her stray strands of hair. “Your hair’s messy.”
Ye Wenjin stayed obediently still, letting Jian Mo tidy her up, completely unaware that Chu Yunsheng beside them was practically pressing the shutter at lightning speed.
The two of them just looked so perfect together in the frame, every shot was a masterpiece!
Chu Yunsheng didn’t say a word, just kept clicking away.
Ah, this is the good stuff.
