- After Mistaking My Stepsister’s First Love
- Chapter 22 - How About We Tentatively Set It at Three Times a Week?
The morning sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, landing right on Ye Wenjin’s face. Coincidentally, two small birds had flown in from somewhere and were chirping incessantly.
Between the birdsong and the harsh light, Ye Wenjin’s eyelashes fluttered slightly as she groggily opened her eyes.
For a few seconds, she was completely disoriented.
Not just because her brain hadn’t fully booted up yet, but also because of the room’s decor that greeted her.
First impression: So many decorations and they felt vaguely familiar.
Second impression: What an unfamiliar room.
The ceiling was crowded with balloons, ribbons tied to them cascading naturally downward, and the unmistakable double-happiness stickers.
Ye Wenjin’s eyes slowly widened, though her expression remained blank. Before she could even process it properly, memories from last night came flooding back.
Yes, last night, she had only had two glasses of red wine just over 10% alcohol and yet she had gotten drunk!
She hadn’t blacked out and could clearly recall countless scenes from the previous night. And precisely because of that, a familiar heat rushed to her face.
Her mind flashed back to the childish antics she had pulled when her sister had taken her upstairs, even needing to be coaxed several times!
That alone would have been embarrassing enough, but then came the memories of their intimate entanglement last night, leaving Ye Wenjin both flustered and shocked.
Faintly, she could still hear Jian Mo’s soft moans.
All of it uncontrollably surged through her mind, replaying on loop.
Ahhhh, drinking really was such a mistake!
Ye Wenjin squeezed her eyes shut, unwilling to face it.
“Good morning, Xiao Jin.”
The slightly hoarse voice instantly snapped Ye Wenjin back to reality. Her eyes flew open, immediately meeting Jian Mo’s gentle, smiling gaze.
Only then did Ye Wenjin realize just how intimate their position was.
She had been holding Jian Mo tightly in her arms, their limbs tangled together so closely they might as well have been inseparable.
Her mind blanked for a moment before Ye Wenjin, her face burning, released Jian Mo. “Sister, I’m sorry, did I squeeze you too hard?”
Jian Mo naturally extricated herself from her embrace. As she sat up, a few strands of her long hair slipped free, lightly brushing Ye Wenjin’s face and leaving a faint tickling sensation though she resisted the urge to react.
“Not at all. I slept very well, better than I have in a while. How about you, Xiao Jin?”
Ye Wenjin quickly nodded. “I slept really well too!”
Jian Mo smiled. “It seems last night’s guidance was very effective.” You’re amazing, Xiao Jin.At the mention of the guidance, Ye Wenjin suddenly remembered how everything had started the night before.
It was because of the guidance.
Silently, Ye Wenjin pulled the blanket up to cover half her face, too embarrassed to face Jian Mo.
Noticing this, Jian Mo spoke slowly. “After the guidance, I did feel much better.” But as for you, Xiao Jin, do you find it troublesome to help me with it?”
Ye Wenjin threw off the blanket and sat up abruptly. “Of course not! I’m happy to help you, Sister!”
Jian Mo gave a soft smile. “Then I’ll have to trouble you. The doctor said it needs to be done regularly. How about we tentatively set it at three times a week?”
Ye Wenjin, her face flushed, nodded. “Whatever you say, Sister.”
Three times a week, which meant.
Her face turned even redder.
Jian Mo seemed oblivious to why she was blushing again as she got up and draped a robe over herself. “Get up, it’s time for breakfast.”
Upon hearing this, Ye Wenjin immediately rolled out of bed. Glancing at the clothes on the floor, she felt a pang of embarrassment.
Fortunately, Jian Mo promptly handed her a robe. Without a second thought about it being her sister’s, Ye Wenjin quickly put it on.
“I’ll go back to my room to wash up then. See you later, sis!”
Before the words even settled, she had already slipped out the door.
Jian Mo watched her hurried retreat with a hint of helplessness.
Once back in her room, Ye Wenjin’s first act was to carefully remove and set aside the clothes she was wearing. She then rushed into the bathroom for a quick shower before finally changing into her own clothes, finally allowing herself to relax.
After tidying up, her gaze fell on the pajamas Jian Mo had lent her.
After a moment’s hesitation, Ye Wenjin picked them up. She had intended to wash them before returning them, but…
The moment she lifted them, a faint, cool fragrance wafted over her. She paused, her fingers trembling slightly.
Of course, the pajamas carried Jian Mo’s scent that was only natural.
Though she repeated this to herself over and over, Ye Wenjin couldn’t help but swallow hard as she stared at the pajamas in her hands. Slowly, she brought them closer and took a delicate sniff.
It was unmistakably Jian Mo’s cool, soothing fragrance.
Her cheeks flushed, and with a guilty conscience, she hurriedly took the clothes to the bathroom to wash them.
After hanging them up to dry, Ye Wenjin swiftly made her way downstairs to the dining room.
“What took you so long?”
At the sound of Jian Mo’s voice, Ye Wenjin flinched slightly, avoiding eye contact as she replied, “Ah, I took a shower. Sorry for being late.”
Jian Mo studied her with a probing gaze, sensing she wasn’t being entirely truthful, but chose not to press further.
“Have a seat.”
Ye Wenjin nodded and quickly sat down, only to freeze when she saw the spread of breakfast dishes before her.
Nearly half of them were tonics fortifying qi, nourishing the blood, and replenishing the body.
When she turned her head, Butler Wu was watching her with a warm, encouraging smile, silently urging her to eat more.
Ye Wenjin’s scalp prickled, feeling as though steam might rise from her head at any moment.
To her horror, Butler Wu, mistaking her stunned silence for shyness, proceeded to serve her a portion of every tonic on the table.
“Young Miss Wenjin, you’re quite slender it’s best to nourish yourself properly. Don’t worry, these are just nutritional supplements; they won’t cause weight gain.”
“Miss Momo mentioned you’re a dance student, so you must be mindful of your figure. I’ve carefully selected these ingredients and calculated their caloric content, they won’t exceed your limits.”
Forgetting her embarrassment for a moment, Ye Wenjin blinked in surprise. “Butler Wu, you know about these things too?”
Butler Wu smiled modestly. “I obtained an advanced nutritionist certification in my younger days. It’s nothing noteworthy.”
Ye Wenjin: “!”
So Butler Wu was a jack-of-all-trades.
She stared blankly at the array of tonics before her. Though the portions were small and the bowls delicate, the fact remained there were nearly ten servings in front of her.
Would eating all of this really be okay?
Hesitant, she instinctively looked to Jian Mo for help.
Jian Mo couldn’t suppress a slight smile. “Don’t worry, Butler Wu is very professional.”
After a brief pause, she added thoughtfully, “From now on, Butler Wu will be in charge of your meals. Health is the foundation being too thin can lead to malnutrition. Even if you need to maintain your figure, you shouldn’t overdo it.”
Ye Wenjin: “!!”
She quickly waved her hand, “No, there’s no need. That would be too much trouble for Butler Wu.”
Jian Mo smiled without saying a word.
Butler Wu, however, insisted, “Miss Wenjin, there’s no need to decline. This is my duty.”
Ye Wenjin hesitated for a long moment before nodding hesitantly, “Then I’ll trouble you, Butler Wu. If it’s too much, you really don’t have to. I can eat at school.”
Butler Wu replied with a warm smile, “Of course, it’s no trouble at all. If not for Miss Wenjin’s strict standards for her figure, gaining a little weight would actually make you look even lovelier.”
Ye Wenjin’s eyes flickered slightly. It had been a long time since she had felt this kind of affectionate care from an elder.
Back in the dorm, she occasionally heard Chu Yunsheng casually complain that every time she went home, her grandmothers would shower her with food, and by the end of the holiday, she was bound to gain five or six pounds.
Ye Wenjin envied that.
After all, only elders who truly love you would think you’ve lost weight and haven’t been eating well every time they see you.
Even if you haven’t lost weight and have even rounded out a bit, in their eyes, you’d still seem too thin and underfed.
To them, being able to eat is a blessing.
This is probably what they mean when they say, “There’s a kind of hunger called ‘your elders think you’re hungry.’”
And now, she felt this same warmth from Butler Wu. Ye Wenjin blinked and sincerely thanked her.
Butler Wu smiled. “If Miss Wenjin doesn’t mind, you can call me Aunt Wu, just like Miss Momo does.”
Ye Wenjin froze for a moment, then instinctively glanced at Jian Mo.
Jian Mo was drinking milk. Just as Ye Wenjin looked over, she set the glass down and elegantly dabbed the corners of her mouth.
“Xiao Jin, are you looking at me like that because you don’t want to use the same term of address as I do?”
Her voice was soft, without a hint of reproach, yet Ye Wenjin immediately felt as if she had done something wrong. She quickly shook her head. “Of course not!”
Then she turned to Butler Wu and obediently said, “Aunt Wu.”
Butler Wu’s smile widened. “I remember Miss Wenjin took a day off. You can return to school after lunch.”
Ye Wenjin thought for a moment and replied honestly, “I’d actually like to go back earlier. I’m worried about falling too far behind in my studies.”
Butler Wu sighed. “Miss Wenjin is so diligent. Though hard work is good, you must also remember to rest properly.”
Ye Wenjin nodded obediently. “I know, Aunt Wu.”
By the time breakfast was over, it was nearly 8:30.
Ye Wenjin had drunk plenty of nourishing soup, along with nutritious porridge and various supplements. She felt that even opening her mouth to speak would release the scent of tonics.
After finishing all that, she couldn’t help but wonder if she might be overdoing it, what if she ended up over-nourished?
With that thought, she resigned herself to the situation.
After all, it was hard to refuse Aunt Wu’s kindness. She decided she’d deal with the consequences if she really did overdo it.
Once breakfast was over, Ye Wenjin began thinking about how to get to school. Before she could come up with a plan, Jian Mo spoke up. “Aunt Wu, please take Xiao Jin to school later.”
Butler Wu nodded warmly. “Of course.”
Ye Wenjin opened her mouth to refuse, but when she met Jian Mo’s gaze, she swallowed her words. “Okay, Sister.”
Only then did Jian Mo nod in satisfaction. She then picked up her things, clearly preparing to leave.
Ye Wenjin hurried after her. “Sister, are you heading out now?”
Jian Mo nodded. “Yes, to the company.”
Ye Wenjin very dutifully walked her to the door. “Goodbye, sister.”
Jian Mo paused, her lips curving slightly as she looked at her. “Come here, Xiao Jin.”
Puzzled, Ye Wenjin stepped closer, only to feel a light kiss brush against her lips.
It was a fleeting touch, over before she could even react.
Jian Mo ruffled her hair. “Good girl, Xiao Jin.”
Even after the car carrying Jian Mo had long disappeared from sight, Ye Wenjin remained rooted to the spot, dazed.
When the butler, Wu, came out from the dining room, she found Ye Wenjin standing there in a daze, her ears tinged red. Understanding dawned on her, and she smiled knowingly, slipping away quietly without disturbing her.
It took quite a while before Ye Wenjin finally snapped out of it. She patted her flushed cheeks and glanced around, exhaling in relief when she saw no one nearby.
Since sister had already left for work, she might as well get ready for school too.
With that thought, Ye Wenjin went back to her room to grab the textbooks she hadn’t had time to put away yesterday. After making sure she hadn’t forgotten anything, she went to find Butler Wu and told her she was ready to leave.
Butler Wu looked surprised. “So early?”
Ye Wenjin smiled shyly. “Sister’s gone to work, and I don’t have anything else to do. I might as well go to class.”
Butler Wu gave her a teasing look but quickly composed herself when she noticed Ye Wenjin’s cheeks turning pink again.
Young people are too easily flustered, she mused, grabbing the keys and heading to the garage to bring the car around.
When they arrived at the school gates, Ye Wenjin bid farewell to Butler Wu and was about to get out of the car.
“Wait, Miss Wenjin, let’s exchange contact information first.”
Ye Wenjin was puzzled but nodded. “Alright.”
After swapping numbers, Ye Wenjin stepped out of the car.
Butler Wu leaned out the window. “Then I’ll head back now, Miss Wenjin. I’ll contact you at noon.”
Ye Wenjin blinked. “Huh?”
But Butler Wu had already driven off.
For a moment, Ye Wenjin stood there bewildered, then suddenly remembered what Jian Mo had said during breakfast.
Could it be, Butler Wu was planning to bring her lunch at noon?!
Ye Wenjin froze for a second before sighing and walking toward the school.
She just hoped there wouldn’t be too many supplements.
With that silent prayer, she continued on her way.
She wasn’t too late and managed to make it just in time for the next class.
As soon as she entered the classroom, Rong Yunshu waved her over, and Ye Wenjin quickly took a seat beside her.
“Whew! Yunshu, you didn’t take the day off?”
Rong Yunshu shook her head, looking resigned. “No, my pheromones are stable, so there was no reason to skip. What about you? Did you get checked?”
Ye Wenjin nodded. “I did, but it’ll take some time before everything settles down.”
Rong Yunshu hummed in acknowledgment. “That’s good.”
She hesitated, as if wanting to ask something but unsure how to phrase it. In the end, she kept quiet.
“By the way, since you took yesterday off for health reasons, you might not know, that woman woke up just as the police arrived and made a huge scene. They had to forcibly restrain her and take her away. She’s probably still at the station now.”
Hearing about Yin Feifei suddenly felt like recalling a distant memory, even though it had only been a night. More important matters had occupied Ye Wenjin’s thoughts, and she hadn’t spared Yin Feifei a second thought.
After a moment of consideration, she said, “She won’t stay at the station for long. Yin Yu will definitely find a way to get her out.”
Rong Yunshu frowned. “Yin Yu?”
Ye Wenjin lowered her voice. “That woman’s mother.”
Rong Yunshu’s brow furrowed deeper. “What if she comes after you again once she’s out?”
Ye Wenjin thought for a moment, “Let her look. After all, I can’t restrict her movements.”
Rong Yunshu looked at her with a complicated expression, sighed, and said, “Wenjin, you still need to learn to be more assertive. That woman seems mentally unstable like she’s capable of anything. It’s better to be cautious.”
Ye Wenjin considered it and realized he was right. Yin Feifei was exactly like that.
“I understand. From now on, I won’t stay in the dorm on weekends or during my free time.”
If she stayed at her sister’s place, Yin Feifei definitely wouldn’t be able to find her. And besides…
Her sister had mentioned three counseling sessions a week. She would do her best!
Rong Yunshu was taken aback.
Not staying in the dorm? Then where would she stay?
At that woman’s house from yesterday?
His eyes darkened.
