- After Mistaking My Stepsister’s First Love
- Chapter 20 - You Just Need to Regularly Provide Mutual Relief
Because of Jian Mo’s sudden statement, the office fell into silence for a moment.
Jian Mo remained completely unruffled, calmly watching the principal as she politely waited for a response.
In truth, she could have simply called the police outright without sparing anyone’s feelings. After all, when it came down to it, reporting illegal activity merely made her a concerned citizen.
Just then, the office door was knocked on again. The principal abruptly averted her gaze and hurried to open it, inwardly heaving a sigh of relief.
For some reason, the presence of this elder sister of Student Ye felt inexplicably formidable. Being in front of her inexplicably made one feel guilty.
The principal’s face stiffened slightly, but fortunately, the knock on the door had come to her rescue. Whoever was on the other side, anyone who could break this oppressive atmosphere was a godsend!
However, the moment the door opened, the principal froze because standing outside was none other than the belatedly arriving teacher from the neighboring school.
“You must be Principal Li, right? Ah, I truly apologize. Our student has caused you trouble. Rest assured, I will deal with her severely once we return!”
The moment the visitor spoke, everyone sensed something off.
While the words claimed the student had caused trouble, the underlying meaning was clearly about protecting her. Moreover, the tone was distinctly uncomfortable to listen to.
Principal Li had initially been troubled by Jian Mo’s threat to call the police. But now, not only had the neighboring school’s representative arrived late, their very first words carried an implicit intention to shield the student.
Principal Li’s brows furrowed, and her anger flared up again.
“How should I address you, teacher?”
“My surname is Zhou.”
“Ah, Teacher Zhou. Here’s the situation: your student came to our school with the intent to kidnap one of our students.
When the kidnapping failed, she then disregarded the law by using pheromones to attack others in a public setting.
Now, the victim’s family is also present. I believe this matter cannot simply be resolved with your promise of ‘dealing with her severely.'”
Teacher Zhou’s expression shifted slightly. “Kidnapping? Impossible! Principal Li, even if my student made a mistake, surely you can’t just slap a kidnapping charge on her?”
Principal Li feigned innocence. “Oh? Teacher Zhou thinks I’m mistaken? But the surveillance footage proves it not to mention there are eyewitnesses. Would you like to verify each one, Teacher Zhou?”
Teacher Zhou’s chest tightened. Frowning, she swept her gaze over the people in the office, pausing when she caught sight of Ye Wenjin’s figure. She immediately sensed trouble.
As a counselor, her relationship with students wasn’t particularly close, but she remembered Yin Feifei well largely because she had received many benefits from her.
Because of this, Teacher Zhou had done some digging. She knew Yin Feifei came from the Yin family and had a disfavored stepsister. By chance, she had even seen this stepsister before.
Thus, she was aware of Ye Wenjin’s existence and had heard about the hostile relationship between the two. This made her somewhat inclined to believe Principal Li’s claim of kidnapping.
Teacher Zhou suddenly felt the money she’d accepted burning in her hands. But no matter what, she absolutely could not acknowledge the kidnapping allegation.
Principal Li had no patience to argue further and simply said, “Since Teacher Zhou doesn’t believe me, please notify this student’s parents to come in.”
Teacher Zhou had been thinking the same thing and stepped out anxiously to make the call.
Upon learning that Yin Yu might also be coming, Ye Wenjin immediately grew nervous. But before her emotions could spiral, her hand was grasped by Jian Mo. “Don’t worry.”
Feeling the warmth from the hand holding hers, Ye Wenjin instantly felt much more at ease. Jian Mo’s presence was like a shot of adrenaline even her simplest words brought Ye Wenjin immense comfort.
Unexpectedly, however, the person who arrived wasn’t Yin Yu, but Ye Shuyao.
The moment she saw her appear, Ye Wenjin felt a touch of absurdity, yet her heart remained calm.
Even if Ye Shuyao had come under the pretense of being Yin Feifei’s guardian, she still felt nothing.
Without expectations, there could be no disappointment. Now, nothing Ye Shuyao did could affect her anymore.
The moment Jian Mo saw Ye Shuyao, her gaze turned icy. Without waiting for the other to speak, she stood up. “Seems there’s nothing to discuss. I’ll handle this by reporting it to the police. If there’s anything to say, you can say it at the station.”
Her words left everyone stunned.
Director Li, who had initially wanted to preserve some face, now no longer cared. After all, it wasn’t their school’s student whoever was responsible could deal with it.
Teacher Zhou grew anxious and turned to look at Ye Shuyao, only to find that this so-called guardian of Yin Feifei was staring intently at Ye Wenjin.
Looking closer, the two even bore some resemblance…
Teacher Zhou froze, suddenly realizing something, and felt utterly exasperated.
What kind of mess was this?!
Jian Mo paid no mind to what anyone else thought. Holding Ye Wenjin’s hand, she said to Director Li, “Xiao Jin’s hormones are unstable, and she’s just been threatened. I’d like to request a day’s leave for her to get a medical checkup. What do you think, Director?”
Without hesitation, Director Li nodded. “I’ll inform her advisor. Ye Wenjin should indeed get a thorough checkup her health comes first.”
Satisfied, Jian Mo nodded and led Ye Wenjin away.
As they passed Ye Shuyao, Ye Wenjin thought she saw her lips tremble slightly, as if she wanted to say something. But Jian Mo kept pulling her forward without stopping.
Ye Wenjin didn’t resist at all, obediently letting herself be led away, never once looking back.
Watching their figures gradually disappear, Ye Shuyao’s heart suddenly clenched. Her lips parted slightly, but no words came out.
Sensing the drama but unable to witness it now that the main players had left, Rong Yunjuan regretfully took Rong Yunshu and departed as well.
Only Ye Shuyao remained standing there in a daze, facing the impending arrival of the police and the soon-to-wake Yin Feifei.
Suddenly gifted an unexpected day off, Ye Wenjin was completely taken by surprise.
She had only finished her morning classes before taking leave again in the afternoon. Lately, her absences had become rather frequent, but at least this time there was a valid reason, so it shouldn’t cause too much trouble.
However, the afternoon was reserved for dance practice, and Ye Wenjin hesitated, she really didn’t want to miss it.
Jian Mo noticed her reluctance and said gently, “Xiao Jin, the leave isn’t just an excuse. You really do need a full checkup right now.”
Ye Wenjin was taken aback. “But… I feel fine.”
Jian Mo smiled and countered, “Feelings aren’t enough, we’ll let the doctor decide. Come on, let’s go to the hospital.”
And so, the two returned to the hospital. By coincidence, the results of their previous premarital checkup had all come in, eliminating the need for repeat tests.
Yet, as she looked over the results, Ye Wenjin fell silent several of her indicators were below standard.
The pheromones were even more intense. Due to her late differentiation and the stimulation she had undergone, she would experience a prolonged period of agitation that required suppressants to control.
However…
“Are the two of you planning to get married? That’s perfect, Ms. Ye and Ms. Jian have an exceptionally high pheromone compatibility. Having Ms. Jian help regulate you would be far more effective than suppressants.”
After addressing Ye Wenjin, the doctor turned to Jian Mo. “Ms. Jian, based on your last physical examination, your condition isn’t ideal either. Have your pheromones been fluctuating again recently?”
Jian Mo hesitated for a moment, about to deny it, when she heard Ye Wenjin speak up anxiously, “Yes, Doctor. My sister’s pheromones were unstable again last night. Is there a problem?”
With a resigned sigh, Jian Mo nodded in confirmation.
The doctor wore a knowing expression, pondering for a moment before saying, “Perhaps neither of you needs suppressants. The symptoms of pheromone agitation and pheromone instability share similarities. You two can simply regulate each other regularly. Come back for a follow-up in a while to reassess the situation.”
Ye Wenjin: “!!”
Jian Mo smiled faintly.
“Don’t avoid treatment out of fear of the diagnosis.”
The doctor spoke earnestly to the two of them.
Because of those words, the heat in Ye Wenjin’s cheeks never subsided. Even after leaving the hospital, her face remained slightly flushed.
Jian Mo was in a good mood. After checking the time, she made a decision.
By the time Ye Wenjin finally snapped out of her daze, they were already on their way back.
“Sister? You’re not busy anymore?”
Jian Mo smiled softly. “There’s no rush. There’s something more important to do now.”
Ye Wenjin blinked in confusion. “Something more important?”
Jian Mo hummed in agreement. “No time like the present. Let’s go get our marriage certificate today.”
Ye Wenjin: “!!!”
