After Mistaking My Sister’s Friend for a Scumbag Alpha - Chapter 6
At ten minutes to three in the afternoon, the scumbag Alpha called to say she had arrived downstairs.
Jiang Wanyi took a moment to mentally review the plot of the book one last time. Gritting her teeth, she grabbed her identification documents and headed down. On the drive to the Civil Affairs Bureau, she sat in rare silence, her fingers tightly interlaced.
“Wanwan, you are still very young. If you don’t want to get married so early, I can understand,” Shangguan Shi said softly as they arrived at their destination.
Wanyi shook her head immediately. “No, I want to get married now.”
The company could not wait, and she certainly could not let her sister fall into this abyss. If she was the one married, she could at least be prepared. If the scumbag Alpha dared to commit even half a crime, she would report her instantly and send her straight to a prison cell.
I must learn to use the power of the law; the law will protect me, Wanyi told herself. She stepped out of the car first to demonstrate her resolve.
Shangguan Shi let out a small sigh before following her.
Perhaps because they had arrived so early, there wasn’t a single other couple at the bureau. The staff worked efficiently, and within minutes, two brand-new marriage certificates bearing their names were handed over to them.
Wanyi was looking at the certificate, preparing to speak, when she felt an arm wrap around her waist.
Scumbag Alpha! she thought. Acting like a gentleman before the wedding, but starting with the hands-on approach the second we’re legal!
Seeing the Omega press her lips thin, her bright eyes flashing with disbelief and a mix of emotions that looked like both anger and shyness, Shangguan Shi felt her mood lift significantly for some reason. Even though she sensed Wanyi’s resistance, she did not let go. Instead, she kept her arm around her legal partner as they walked out of the bureau.
Wanyi did not fight her, only pushing her away once it was time to get back into the car.
Once they were both seated, Wanyi cleared her throat. “Now that we’re married, I have a few things to say. I’m still a student, and I don’t want my fans or colleagues to know about my family’s wealth, so I don’t want a wedding ceremony.”
It was enough just to let the news of the alliance leak out. In the original story, the Alpha and her sister hadn’t held a wedding either because there was no affection between them, yet it had still saved the company.
“Alright, we’ll do as you wish,” Shangguan Shi replied.
“Besides that, I have other conditions,” Wanyi continued. “I’ve never been comfortable sleeping in the same bed as someone else, so we must have separate bedrooms.”
Hearing this, Shangguan Shi recalled an incident from her senior year of high school. She and Jiang Qianyi had been on a video call discussing a complex physics problem. They had different approaches and the debate had reached a fever pitch when there was a knock on Qianyi’s door.
A childish voice had come through the speaker: “Sister, it’s me.”
“The door is unlocked, come in.”
The door pushed open to reveal a little girl in cartoon cat pajamas, her face flushed as she clutched a pillow to her chest. She walked in, looking quite pitiful. “Sister, I had a nightmare. I’m scared to sleep alone. Can I sleep with you?”
Only when she reached the desk did she notice the video call. She turned even redder with embarrassment and managed a greeting: “Good evening, Sister Shangguan.”
“Good evening,” Shangguan Shi had replied. Her mind was still on the physics problem, so she had quickly scribbled down a few formulas to ensure she wouldn’t lose the argument with Qianyi.
Qianyi, equally preoccupied, comforted her sister before tilting the camera so it only captured the desktop, allowing her sister to climb into the bed behind her. They continued their work for another ten minutes until Qianyi suddenly said, “I have to go. My sister is asleep. Let’s talk at school tomorrow.”
The memory ended there. At the time, she hadn’t thought much of it, and even now, she felt no untoward intentions toward the memory of a seven-year-old. However, seeing Wanyi’s current expression overlap with that memory softened her heart.
Wanyi was ten years younger than her; a three-year gap is already a generation, so perhaps a young person’s idea of affection was different, or perhaps she had other concerns. Regardless, they were now partners. As the elder of the two, it was only right to be patient with her young wife. Furthermore, while she was certain she had feelings for Wanyi and that this marriage had potential, she had viewed the girl as a distant younger sister for years. Changing that perspective would take time. If they were to share a bed immediately, allowing someone to invade her entire private domain, she might find it uncomfortable herself.
“I’ll listen to you,” the Alpha said, a smile touching her clear eyes. her voice was elegant and soft, carrying a hint of indulgence.
Wanyi felt a momentary pang of guilt, but she quickly shook it off. This “gentle and polite” Alpha was a mask; her heart was pitch black. She was a villain who would cheat and then remorselessly steal her wife’s corneas. One didn’t need a conscience when dealing with villains; even the police used stings and traps to catch criminals.
Straightening her back, Wanyi avoided the Alpha’s gaze. “As long as you agree, Sister Shi. I don’t have any other requests for now. You can tell me yours.”
“I have no requirements.” Shangguan Shi paused. “Wanwan, what kind of house do you like?”
Wanyi had already considered this. “I think the place where you live now is fine. I can just move in there. No need to buy a new one.”
If they bought a new place, the money would likely come from both families, which would make the accounting difficult during the divorce. If she moved into the Alpha’s current home, she could just pay rent at market value when they split—simple.
For Shangguan Shi, her current home was large enough and close to the arts university, so if Wanyi was willing to move in, it saved her a lot of trouble. They agreed on the living arrangements and decided Wanyi would add furniture gradually after moving in this weekend.

That evening, they ate dinner together at the Jiang residence.
Upon learning that the two had suddenly registered their marriage, the Jiang family’s approval of Shangguan Shi dropped from a perfect ten to a nine. If they hadn’t known the family so well, they would have suspected their youngest daughter was being swindled. However, they kept these thoughts to themselves and maintained a harmonious atmosphere, even setting a date for the parents to meet officially.
The meal was lively, though Wanyi remained the most quiet of the group. Afterward, Shangguan Shi did not overstay her welcome. As she rose to leave, Wanyi walked her to the door.
Once they were out of the parents’ sight, Shangguan Shi spoke up. “Wanwan, we are partners now. If you have any problems, you can tell me.”
They had sat next to each other during dinner, and she could sense that Wanyi wasn’t happy. Although the girl had been smiling, she had eaten less than half of what she usually did. Having been with her all afternoon without eating anything, it was impossible for her not to be hungry.
Wanyi blinked and instinctively shook her head. “I don’t have any problems. I’m just so happy to be married to you, Sister Shi.”
Shangguan Shi looked at the girl and suddenly raised a hand.
Wanyi took a step back, not wanting to be touched. She forced a smile. “Sister Shi, I’ll stop here. I’ll see you this weekend. Bye!”
The goal of the marriage alliance had been achieved, and she no longer needed to play the devoted admirer. Her next step was to keep her distance until the Alpha lost interest, all while hunting for the evidence she needed to put the woman behind bars.
