After Mistaking My Sister’s Friend for a Scumbag Alpha - Chapter 10
She forced a couple of awkward chuckles. “I see.”
“Yes,” the Alpha replied with a faint, gentle smile. “But I’ve given it some thought. Since we are living together now, our daily contact should be sufficient. There is no need to force anything beyond that.”
Recovery was a gradual process. What they had now was enough, and they could increase their intimacy slowly as her condition required.
Upon hearing this, the tension in Wanyi’s facial muscles finally relaxed. “In that case, should I move in sooner?”
“There is no rush. You can move whenever you have the time.”
“Let’s do it now then,” Wanyi suggested.
Since the two locations were close and she didn’t plan on bringing everything and intending to stay at her own place occasionally, the move was handled quickly. By noon, the task was finished. After grabbing a bite to eat with Shangguan Shi, Wanyi headed back to school. She had drama rehearsals scheduled for both the afternoon and evening.

That night at rehearsals.
“Have you heard?”
Wanyi was resting and looking over her script after a round of practice when she overheard the people beside her talking.
“Heard what?”
“Word is that for our New Year’s performance, President Shangguan herself is coming to watch.”
“Who’s President Shangguan?” a voice asked, sounding skeptical.
“The President of the Luocheng Chamber of Commerce! She’s only thirty, incredibly successful, and stunningly beautiful!”
“Is she really that good-looking?”
“Absolutely! There are photos of her online. Let me find one for you.”
Liu Wen walked over just then with two cups of water. Seeing the commotion, she leaned in to take a look before handing a cup to Wanyi. “Wanwan, President Shangguan is truly gorgeous. She’s so sharp. A perfect mix of handsome and beautiful. Every time I see her photo, it’s a total shock to the system.”
Wanyi took a sip of water and thought to herself, Of course she looks good. She was the author’s darling, the ancestral favorite; everything about her was designed to be perfect.
At the thought of that brainless author, a cold sneer flickered across Wanyi’s lips. If she could ever break through the fourth wall, she would definitely have a long talk with that writer.
Liu Wen missed the expression but heard the scoff. She asked innocently, “Have you not seen the President’s photos yet? Let me show you. Her looks aren’t just hype; she’s the real deal.”
“No need. I know what she looks like. I actually went to her house for her eighteenth birthday party.”
Wanyi spoke quietly so only the two of them could hear. Liu Wen laughed. “That makes sense. Your family is incredibly wealthy too.”
After a pause, Liu Wen lowered her voice even further. “Wanwan, since your last name is Jiang, do you know the second Miss Jiang? I heard President Shangguan and the second Miss Jiang just got married.”
Liu Wen had visited Wanyi’s home, but she hadn’t met the rest of the family at the time. She knew Wanyi was rich, but she didn’t realize Wanyi was the “second Miss Jiang.”
“I know her. They did indeed get married.”
“Oh no!” Liu Wen looked devastated. “Does that mean my favorite ship has sunk?”
It’s better this way, Wanyi thought. A scumbag Alpha doesn’t deserve a happy ending. Knowing Liu Wen had been a fan of that “ship” for a long time and remained blissfully unaware of Shangguan Shi’s true nature. Wanyi didn’t say it out loud. Instead, she offered some comfort. “It’s okay. You have plenty of other ships.”
“True,” Liu Wen chirped, her mood rebounding instantly. “Luckily, I ship enough couples that if one collapses, I still have a whole pile left. Hehe.”
A moment later, the senior student called the actors back to continue. The play Zhong Yun had written was a comedy focused on a mutual crush at school, filled with ridiculous misunderstandings and witty dialogue. It relied heavily on timing and physical performance, so they usually spent a long time reviewing each session. Now that they knew Shangguan Shi would be attending, they polished every movement with even greater care.
Wanyi might have disliked Shangguan Shi, but the performance belonged to the club, and her primary goal was to perform for the rest of the school. She took the rehearsals and discussions seriously, not finishing until ten o’clock.
The temperature had dropped by the time she left the venue. Wanyi wrapped her coat tightly around her, but the chill still bit through. Liu Wen took the campus shuttle back to the dorms, leaving Wanyi to walk alone.
She had only gone a few paces when a car pulled up in front of her. The rear door opened to reveal Shangguan Shi sitting inside.
“Sister Shi.” Wanyi climbed in immediately, feeling a genuine sense of pleasant surprise; mostly because of the cold. It hadn’t been chilly when she left at noon, but the temperature had plummeted over the last few hours.
Shangguan Shi handed her a cup of hot milk tea and took her hand. “Are you cold?”
Isn’t it obvious?
Wanyi offered a sweet smile. “I don’t feel cold at all now that I see you. Thank you, Sister Shi.”
She held the warm tea and naturally slipped her hand out of the Alpha’s grasp to take a sip. Seeing the cozy little expression on her face, a hint of a smile appeared in Shangguan Shi’s eyes.
They returned home in a comfortable silence. It wasn’t until Wanyi had taken a hot shower that Shangguan Shi spoke again. “Wanwan.”
“Hmm?”
“The doctor mentioned… it would be best if we shared a bed.”
Wanyi froze. “R-really?”
Seeing the girl stammer, and remembering how long she had supposedly harbored a secret crush, Shangguan Shi assumed she was just shy and nervous. She spoke gently. “Wanwan, even though we are sharing a bed, the doctor also said I cannot handle too much stimulation right now. I won’t be able to do anything else. I’m sorry if that makes you feel neglected.”
Neglected? Not at all! It’s great that you’re ‘broken.’ It would be even better if you could finish your sentences in one go next time.
Wanyi bit her lip and shook her head. “I don’t feel neglected. I’m just happy to be able to help you, Sister Shi.”
Shangguan Shi felt a surge of emotion. She gazed at the Omega’s red lips for a few seconds before shifting her eyes to her flushed cheeks. It would have been perfectly normal for a married couple to kiss, but before she could make a move, Wanyi suddenly retreated a few steps.
“It’s getting late. Let’s get some sleep!” Wanyi turned around quickly. That was terrifying. Her eyes looked like she wanted to eat me alive.
They entered the bedroom one after the other. Fearing the Alpha might try something “inappropriate” again, Wanyi climbed into bed immediately and pulled the covers up. She let out a yawn. “I’m so sleepy. Goodnight.”
She closed her eyes, but her mind was actually on the tracking information for her pinhole cameras. If all went well, they would arrive tomorrow. She would install them secretly so that if the scumbag ever tried anything malicious, she would have all the evidence she needed.
She hadn’t originally wanted to bug the Alpha’s bedroom. She had zero interest in what the woman did in private but since they were forced to share a bed now, she had no choice. She had to protect herself.
Unaware of what her companion was plotting, Shangguan Shi sensed that the Omega’s pheromones were calm and assumed she had truly fallen asleep. She moved quietly to get another blanket and turned off the lights.

After picking up her package and studying how to set them up at her small apartment, Wanyi tucked the devices into a different bag and headed back to the Alpha’s house.
Shangguan Shi was at the office today, which made it the perfect time to act. The Alpha had already mentioned there were cameras in the living room and study and had shared the access with her, so Wanyi didn’t bother with those areas.
She finished installing cameras in her own bedroom and the other rooms. Finally, she stood at the door to the Alpha’s bedroom, hesitating.
