After Marrying the Evil God - Chapter 26
“That’s true; the ghosts were probably just hidden too well,” Qian Wei nodded. He had just taken a drag of his cigarette when he felt the ground vibrate, followed by a thunderous roar.
“Holy crap, what’s going on?” Qian Wei was so startled he dropped his cigarette.
“Something happened!”
“Something happened!”
The two exchanged a look and spoke in unison.
“Hurry, go check it out.” Qian Wei rushed forward. “Where are the keys? Open the gate, quick!”
“Didn’t you bring the keys?”
“No, wasn’t that your responsibility?”
The two looked at each other awkwardly. After a moment, Qian Wei wiped his face. “Let’s climb the wall.”
When the two scaled the wall and flipped into the Yuan family’s backyard, they were dumbfounded. What used to be a house was now a pile of rubble. Where a building should have stood, there was now only broken walls and debris covering the ground.
The walls had collapsed, shattered bricks and wood were scattered everywhere, and the roof had completely caved in. The air was thick with the scent of dust, making them cough uncontrollably.
“We’re doomed. How did a D-rank mission end with casualties?” Qian Wei looked ready to cry.
“Let’s start digging.”
Just as they were about to start, a flash of golden light erupted, and two figures emerged from the ruins.
“Cough, cough, cough… Why is this talisman so powerful?” Shen Hanwu, dragging a half-dead Yuan Mu like a stray dog, coughed repeatedly from the dust.
“I didn’t expect it either, cough, cough.” Xie Chouzhuang knew the talisman was potent, but he hadn’t imagined it would be strong enough to level the entire Yuan house.
“Um, we don’t have to pay for this, right?” Shen Hanwu asked in a low voice, looking at the two stunned observers.
“No, no need,” Qian Wei waved his hands frantically.
“That’s good, that’s good.” Shen Hanwu breathed a sigh of relief. “Oh, by the way, the mission is complete. Six ghosts plus one Ghost Cultivator.”
“A Ghost Cultivator?” Qian Wei finally noticed Yuan Mu lying on the ground. “What happened? There was no mention of this in the initial investigation.”
Xie Chouzhuang handed over the ruined banner. “This was found in the basement, along with an altar. The banner and altar were draining spiritual energy. To save our lives, I blew up the altar. I didn’t think it would make such a big mess.”
“An altar? The Immortal Sect!” Qian Wei glanced at the banner, his expression becoming solemn. “The assessment is over. The results will be announced shortly.”
Xie Chouzhuang and Shen Hanwu climbed back out of the Yuan family courtyard.
“Was that ‘Immortal Sect’ some kind of cult?” Xie Chouzhuang asked curiously.
A look of disgust crossed Shen Hanwu’s face. “The Immortal Sect is currently the largest cult organization. Their leader has already reached the strength of a Level 9 Occultist. The people who choose to join them are all lunatics. Those guys spend all day racking their brains trying to achieve immortality, stopping at nothing to get it. Their hands are stained with the blood of innocents—they are truly wicked beyond measure!
A few years ago, the Occultist Association gathered forces from all sides to launch a massive crackdown on the Immortal Sect. We thought they had been crushed and disappeared after that battle. I didn’t expect them to resurface now.”
“But a major issue like this isn’t something low-level Occultists like us can get involved in. You’d need to be at least Level 6 or higher, otherwise you’re just throwing your life away.”
Xie Chouzhuang replied, “At least the assessment is over. Our scores should be pretty good.”
“Hey man, you’re not bad. Want to collaborate if we get the chance in the future?”
“We’ll see how things go.”
“Sure, let’s exchange contact info.”
After adding Shen Hanwu as a friend, Xie Chouzhuang began his walk back. It was already midnight. Just as he was about to call for a ride, a car pulled up right in front of him.
“Get in.” Sitting in the driver’s seat was none other than Ji Sixian.
“Why are you here?” Xie Chouzhuang got into the car, feeling a bit happy.
“The assessment went so late; I was worried, so I came over.” Ji Sixian handed him a small cake he had bought on the way. “Eat something to tide you over.”
After working for so long, Xie Chouzhuang did feel quite hungry. He didn’t stand on ceremony and took the cake.
“Delicious!” After taking a bite, Xie Chouzhuang’s eyes lit up. The cake wasn’t too sweet, the sponge was dense, and it melted in his mouth. He finished one in just a few bites.
“You have no idea, I was almost sucked dry just now.”
Ji Sixian’s expression turned cold. “What happened?”
“An altar that drains spiritual energy. If it wasn’t for that talisman paper you gave me, I wouldn’t have known what to do.”
“I’ll draw a few more for you when we get back. Things haven’t been peaceful lately.”
“Thank you, Gege.” Xie Chouzhuang leaned over and gave Ji Sixian a quick kiss.
The frown on Ji Sixian’s brow smoothed out, but his tone remained serious. “Your strength is still insufficient. After we get back, I’ll give you some extra tutoring.”
“Sure!” Xie Chouzhuang instinctively thought it was regular tutoring and agreed with a smile.
Xie Chouzhuang hadn’t even reacted yet when he was pressed against the back of the door upon returning to the apartment.
Immediately after, an aggressive kiss descended. A powerful aura enveloped Xie Chouzhuang, pinning him firmly in place. He was unable to move and could only tilt his head back to passively endure the onslaught.
Ji Sixian seemed to let out a small chuckle, teasing the tip of his tongue over and over again. His offensive in Xie Chouzhuang’s mouth was frightening; that irresistible momentum seemed as if he wanted to swallow him whole right then and there.
“Mmm… wasn’t it… tutoring?” Xie Chouzhuang gasped for air, turning his head to dodge the next kiss.
Ji Sixian stroked his bright red lips. “Tutoring—isn’t this tutoring? Your spiritual energy is too low; Dual Cultivation with me is just right.”
“Mmm, I haven’t showered yet.” Xie Chouzhuang’s hands trembled as he pushed against the hands that were roaming everywhere, practically scrambling into the bathroom.
Xie Chouzhuang absentmindedly cast his gaze toward the mirror, but that casual glance made him freeze instantly. The face reflected in the mirror had eyes shrouded in a watery mist, with the rims slightly flushed as if he had just finished crying. Those two pink lips were now swollen, looking as if they had been cruelly ravished, gleaming with an inviting luster.
With that face, coupled with his slightly messy hair and partially open collar, he was the very picture of someone waiting to be plucked. No matter which angle you looked from, he radiated an indescribable eroticism.
Xie Chouzhuang silently covered his flaming face with both hands. He reached out to turn on the showerhead, and a stream of warm water instantly sprayed out.
In the next second, a tall figure silently appeared behind him like a ghost, wrapping powerful arms tightly around him.
“Together.” A deep, magnetic voice sounded in Xie Chouzhuang’s ear, carrying a tone that brooked no refusal.
“Don’t, mmm…” In a panic, Xie Chouzhuang turned his head to refuse, but before he could finish his sentence, his lips were accurately blocked by the other man. For a moment, the only sounds left were the gurgling of the water and the increasingly rapid breaths of the two intertwined figures.
“Washing together saves water.” Ji Sixian caught Xie Chouzhuang’s struggling hands and, with a gentle exert of force, pinned them behind his back.
