After Marrying the Disabled Demon Lord as a Substitute, I Ran Away with His Child - Chapter 61
Chapter 61
The high-ranking members of the Xuan Cloud Sect dared not associate this man’s identity with their own Leader. In fact, many were profoundly taken aback. “Left Protector, are you truly certain he is the Leader? He doesn’t look like him at all.”
Yan Jiaojiao, also feeling uncertain, gave an awkward smile. “I’m not entirely sure either.”
Blood Demon said, “Then let us find the Demon Son first.”
The obvious avoidance from these two caused the rest of the sect to doubt the man’s identity. Had the Protectors’ reactions been less conspicuous, the others wouldn’t have overthought it.
At that moment, the man seemed to sense something. He turned his head toward them, and the world suddenly fell silent; even the wind ceased to blow. That familiar, crushing pressure made Yan Jiaojiao take a step back. “No way… no way… he definitely isn’t the Leader!”
Blood Demon gave a cold sneer, thinking: Shut up already. From the way he looked at you when you spoke, that is absolutely the Leader.
In an instant, Xuan Mo teleported before them. Though his expression remained wooden, his eyes were full of menace. “What are you doing here? If you dare ruin this Venerable One’s ‘good business,’ you shall suffer the consequences!”
Yan Jiaojiao instinctively looked at the farmland behind Xuan Mo. By ‘good business,’ does he mean… farming?
Xuan Mo grabbed Yan Jiaojiao by the throat. “This Venerable One sees that you are the one most likely to ruin my affairs.”
Yan Jiaojiao stammered hurriedly, “How could I ruin the Venerable One’s business? I am your most loyal believer! I only ever think of your best interests! Have mercy, Venerable One, have mercy!”
Only then did Xuan Mo release her. His gaze swept across the assembled disciples as he barked, “Scram, all of you! Nothing good ever happens when I see your faces.”
The sect members prepared to disperse. Yan Jiaojiao had already turned to leave, but she couldn’t suppress her curiosity. She turned back to Xuan Mo. “Venerable One, we came here because we felt the aura of the Demon Son. Have you provided the Xuan Cloud Sect with an heir?”
Xuan Mo gave a cold snort, yet a pride he couldn’t hide flickered between his brows.
Yan Jiaojiao, fueled by gossip, pressed on. “Then… is the one who gave birth to the Demon Son the Madam?”
Xuan Mo’s brow twitched. “Are my personal affairs for you to pry into?” As they prepared to flee, he added, “If not Zuo Siqiu, then who else? Does the Xuan Cloud Sect have a second Madam?”
The disciples now didn’t want to leave. Yan Jiaojiao looked at Xuan Mo’s unfamiliar disguise and asked, “Since the child is here and you have found the Madam, why not bring her and the Young Master back to the sect? Our spiritual energy is far more abundant than here. Those plots of land on the back mountain are perfect for farming. Isn’t that better than hiding here in secret?”
After a pause, she voiced her suspicion: “Is it because you haven’t told the Madam your true identity yet, and the child hasn’t recognized his father?”
Xuan Mo’s knuckles cracked audibly. “Yan Jiaojiao, I think you are seeking death today.”
Yan Jiaojiao certainly wasn’t. She turned to run, but her eyes landed on someone in the distance, and her face filled with embarrassment. “Ma… Madam.”
Xuan Mo froze visibly. He turned and saw Zuo Siqiu’s silhouette.
Zuo Siqiu’s mind wasn’t moving as fast as theirs. At first, she didn’t react, merely feeling worried upon seeing Yan Jiaojiao. She hadn’t expected the Xuan Cloud Sect to find them so soon; she couldn’t go back, she couldn’t take her child to that dangerous place.
Then, A-Hei’s figure entered her vision. Her heart leaped, why was A-Hei involved with the sect? He was just a mortal; would those people kill him? The thought flashed by, followed by a creeping doubt.
Wait. If the sect had found this place, why weren’t they seizing her? Why were they talking to A-Hei? How could a mortal stop them? It was impossible. The only person who could stop the Xuan Cloud Sect was Xuan Mo.
But A-Hei wasn’t Xuan Mo… A-Hei isn’t Xuan Mo?
A terrifying realization suddenly drowned her. Why was she suddenly suspecting A-Hei was Xuan Mo? She began to back away slowly; she had to get back to the room, warn everyone, and leave immediately. If A-Hei was Xuan Mo and the disciples were here, she was definitely going back.
Her attempt to flee immediately angered Xuan Mo. He knew his identity had been exposed. He cast a “gaze of the dead” at his disciples, then flew toward her. As he drew near, his disguise dissolved until he landed in front of her. He grabbed her arm, his appearance fully restored to that of the Great Devil.
Zuo Siqiu was both furious and terrified. Furious that he had lied, and terrified that after fleeing, his “punishment” would be severe, perhaps even cost her and the child their lives. Her mind raced with escape plans, but her expression was ruthlessly exposed by Xuan Mo.
“Are you trying to run again? Do you truly believe you can get away? And with my child? As the father, I do not permit you to take her.”
Zuo Siqiu felt her brain short-circuiting. She couldn’t process the information. Especially the part where he said he was the father.
“How could the child be yours?” she gasped in shock. “What we did back then was fake! It was all an act for other people!”
Xuan Mo sneered. “If the child isn’t mine, whose is it? Or have you done something shameful behind my back?” He suddenly remembered Zhu Jiechou’s words. “I don’t believe you have some unspeakable relationship with Zhu Jiechou.”
“I have nothing to do with him!” she cried. “But I have nothing to do with you either! Are you telling me we don’t need to do anything, that just sleeping in the same bed produces a child?”
Xuan Mo gritted his teeth. “Have you forgotten what you did while climbing on top of me in the night?”
Zuo Siqiu was about to deny it when those “absurd dreams” flashed through her mind. No way… were those dreams real? Her confusion deepened. If they were real, how could she, who had “used” a paralyzed person, feel so refreshed the next day without any bodily pain?
Wait, this was a cultivation world. With spirit pills, you could be lively the next morning even after seven times in a night.
Zuo Siqiu’s expression completely collapsed. “Why didn’t you tell me?” The realization that she had spent numerous nights “taking advantage” of a paralyzed Xuan Mo made her world crumble. Her heart hammered, flushing her face deep red and bringing tears to her eyes. She instinctively crouched down, burying her head in her arms and knees, unable to face him.
Xuan Mo leaned down to pull her up, but discovered for the first time how much strength this woman had when she refused to let go. He ended up crouching beside her, looking at her hidden head. “I will give you fifteen minutes. After that, pack your things and come back to the Xuan Cloud Sect.”
Zuo Siqiu made a sobbing sound, her exposed ears turning bright crimson. Xuan Mo, seeing her red ears, felt an itch in his hand and reached out to touch one. His fingers were cold, and the sudden chill made her sensitive ear-shell tingle with a sharp sting.
She shivered. “Don’t touch me! Let me be quiet!”
Xuan Mo withdrew his hand. Fifteen minutes passed, but she didn’t look up. She felt she had no face left to show, especially to the man she had “bullied.”
Suddenly, a baby’s cry rang out. Zuo Siqiu instinctively looked up, her gaze crashing into Xuan Mo’s dark, bottomless eyes. She immediately looked away, wanting to run into the house to hold the child and avoid him but Xuan Mo was faster. He stood up and headed toward the cottage before she could.
