After Marrying the Disabled Demon Lord as a Substitute, I Ran Away with His Child - Chapter 59
Chapter 59
The moment Long Xiaotian’s father saw Zuo Siqiu, he immediately recognized her signature offensive pills. The formulas and refining insights for these pills were even available in the Black Shop.
Normally, evading these pills was simple: one only needed to dodge with extreme speed the moment they were tossed. The problem, however, was that he was currently bound by the Spider-Silk Pills, leaving him with absolutely nowhere to run.
What followed was a relentless barrage of Freezing Pills and Exploding Pig Pills thrown by over three hundred souls. The extreme cold and violent blasts battered his physical body, but the force of the explosions simultaneously shattered the sticky threads binding him.
He circulated his spiritual energy to the limit to withstand the onslaught. Once the barrage finally ceased, he regained his freedom. He was covered in blood, with many parts of his body bruised purple from frostbite, but he knew he still had one last burst of strength left for a final stand.
Long Xiaotian lunged at him again, his spear thrusting aggressively. The father dodged several times before engaging his son in a direct clash. The son was no match for him alone, but against his son backed by three hundred souls, the odds shifted.
Zuo Siqiu used every ounce of her strength to command the hundred-plus soul puppets to attack the Long Family Head. In the end, they triumphed. While he could defeat his son, he could not withstand the collective might of three hundred souls. Ultimately, he was forced to flee in a panic.
Having exhausted a massive amount of spiritual energy, Zuo Siqiu’s body went limp. She nearly collapsed, but fortunately, A-Hei was there to catch her.
Long Xiaotian was also covered in wounds, but he knew he couldn’t stop to heal. He had to seize this moment to return to the Long Family; this was his best opportunity to claim the position of Family Head.
Knowing he had to leave, Zuo Siqiu waved weakly. “Go on, then. No need for a formal goodbye.” She just wanted the protagonist gone before more people arrived and brought further danger.
Once he left, Zuo Siqiu leaned completely into A-Hei’s arms. “I want to sleep.”
A-Hei lifted her up, cradling her against his chest as he carried her back toward the small cottage.
…
Long Xiaotian originally intended to hunt down his father to ensure he couldn’t block the succession. However, both were heavily injured, and the father managed to vanish.
Long Xiaotian rushed to the Long Family estate and summoned everyone, presenting the Clear Heart Pills he had refined. He exposed the atrocities committed by the clan in recent years. Those involved turned ashen, while those kept in the dark were horrified.
“Young Master, are you lying to us? How could the Long Family do such things?” some protested. Others, however, saw their long-held suspicions confirmed. There were many who hadn’t yet been consumed by the madness of seeking shortcuts to ascension.
Many of his peers, who had grown up with him, stood by him. They were the first to take the pills. The effects were immediate; they reported a sense of clarity and a return to their “beginner’s heart.” Some even flew back to their caves immediately, claiming they had reached a state of enlightenment.
Even the elders who had committed wrongs stepped forward to try the pills, hoping they might break their bottlenecks. However, the pills had no effect on those with purely selfish intent. Eventually, after most of the clan had taken the pills, Long Xiaotian announced his intent to replace his father. Despite his lower cultivation, the fear of the old regime led the majority to support him. After some internal strife, Long Xiaotian officially became the Head of the Long Family.
…
Meanwhile, the former Long Head did not return home. He was busy healing and searching for Zhu Jiechou. He couldn’t get the puppets, so he needed Zuo Siqiu. If he could catch her and refine a Tribulation Pill, he wouldn’t have to fear his soul dissipating during his upcoming ascension.
He discovered that Zhu Jiechou was still locked in the Xuan Cloud Sect’s demon prison. This was the sect’s weakest moment, as the disciples were all out searching for their Leader and his wife. No one expected anyone to rescue a “nobody” like Zhu Jiechou.
The Long Head spent half a month carefully infiltrating the prison and successfully broke out both Zhu Jiechou and Bi Zhian. He took them to a hidden secret realm to recover.
When Zhu Jiechou finally woke, a horrific, raspy laugh escaped his throat. “I thought I’d never leave that place. Heaven has given me another chance. This time, I will not fail.”
The Long Head frowned. “What do you mean? What have you been doing?”
Zhu Jiechou’s eyes were filled with malice. He had been “deluded” by Zuo Siqiu’s pills into doing idiotic things. Now that he was clear-headed, he wanted to skin her alive, extract her soul, and make her watch her own body melt in a furnace. “As for Third Junior Sister and Xuan Mo,” he muttered, “leave them to that man in the Myriad Corpse Tide of the Demon Realm.”
…
Zuo Siqiu slept for three full days. Upon waking, she felt much better. She consumed several Qi-replenishing pills and meditated until her energy was half-restored.
However, just as she felt her strength returning, a sharp, sinking pain hit her lower abdomen. It was a sensation she remembered from before her transmigration, the dull ache of a period. But as a cultivator, she hadn’t had a period in ages.
There was only one other possibility: she was going into labor.
Though the pain wasn’t unbearable yet, a wave of panic washed over her. She cried out for her sister. Zuo Mudong rushed in. “What’s wrong?”
“I think… I think I’m about to give birth!” Zuo Siqiu looked like she was on the verge of tears.
A-Hei, who was outside, burst into the room with a look of intense tension. Mudong immediately pushed him back out. “What are you doing here? Siqiu isn’t having your baby! Stay outside and guard the door!”
Mudong worried aloud, “I hope this birth doesn’t trigger some anomaly that draws the Demon Cult here.”
Zuo Siqiu’s panic spiked. “Please don’t let that Great Devil Xuan Mo find us! I still don’t know whose child this is. If he shows up and realizes it’s not his if I’ve accidentally given him a giant ‘green hat’ he’ll be so furious he’ll kill me and the baby on the spot!”
Xuan Mo, who had been about to confess his identity, silently swallowed his words once again.
