After Marrying the Disabled Demon Lord as a Substitute, I Ran Away with His Child - Chapter 58
Chapter 58
The Long Family of the Cultivation World.
The junior disciples who had accompanied Long Xiaotian to the mortal realm returned to the clan and immediately reported to the Family Head.
The Head of the Long Family was thunderstruck. “The person who snatched the soul puppets escaped? And Xiaotian didn’t let you pursue them?”
“The Young Master said he didn’t need us,” they replied, heads bowed.
The Long Family Head slammed the table in a fury. “Useless! If he said he didn’t need you, you just didn’t go? If he keeps those puppets for himself, refines them, and returns to attack the Long Family, could any of you stop him?”
The disciples thought to themselves, How is that possible? He’s the Young Master. But they stayed silent, seeing the mixture of rage and genuine fear on the Head’s face. The Head of the Long Family truly believed it; he knew he shouldn’t have trusted a son who had already defied him for his sister’s sake.
The thought of his son monopolizing all of Bi Mu’s refined puppets filled him with jealousy and resentment. He would not allow it. Those puppets and the resources they represented had to be his personal property.
He dismissed the disciples and hurried to the ancestral hall. Seeing Long Xiaotian’s soul lamp burning with a vigorous, thriving flame, he realized his son’s cultivation was improving rapidly. Has he already begun absorbing the souls?
The soul lamps of the Long Family had a secondary function: tracking. Originally designed to rescue disciples in danger, the Head now used it as a hunting tool. Once he locked onto Xiaotian’s coordinates, he vanished in a streak of light.
When he arrived, he found a small, serene cottage surrounded by lush spirit fields buzzing with activity. Hundreds of soul cultivators and puppets were working the land. His eyes turned red with greed. They haven’t left yet. There’s still time. These will all be mine!
The sudden joy of seeing his prize within reach made him lose his composure. He descended into the center of the fields, his greed naked and undisguised.
Immediately, Long Xiaotian, Zuo Siqiu, and Zuo Mudong flew out to intercept him, surrounding him in a triangular formation. A-Hei quickly ran to Siqiu’s side, partially shielding her with his body.
The Long Family Head retracted his smile and looked at his son with cold reproach. “Why didn’t you complete the task I gave you? You intended to swallow these puppets yourself, didn’t you?”
Long Xiaotian stepped forward, his brow furrowed. “Father, I didn’t expect you to come personally. I thought you would wait at home for my news.”
“Your news? Do you think I’m a fool? I know you want these for yourself,” the father spat. “Xiaotian, do you really think you have the strength to suppress them? I warn you, do not overreach, or you will be consumed by the backlash. Step aside. I will take these people. You stay here and deal with them.”
His gaze shifted to the two women. At first, he didn’t care, but as he looked closer, his greed surged again. “It’s you! Zuo Siqiu, the Wife of the Xuan Cloud Sect Leader!”
He laughed, a harsh, grating sound. “Truly, luck is on my side today. I’ve looked for you for so long, and here you are. You’re coming back with me and the puppets.”
Zuo Siqiu looked at him with ice in her eyes. “Go back for what? To be a medicinal primer for your pills? Not a chance. And these puppets don’t belong to your son; they are mine. You won’t take a single one.”
The Head laughed at her audacity. “A Golden Core brat, and with Xuan Mo nowhere to be found? You think you can stop me? If you’re obedient, I might let you live a few more days. Since your Second Senior Brother is missing, no one would use you for alchemy immediately anyway.”
Long Xiaotian’s body trembled. Hearing his father confirm the “medicinal primer” rumors with his own ears shattered the last of his filial illusions. He saw Siqiu reach for her pills and the souls take a combat stance.
“Little Junior Sister!” Long Xiaotian called out, his voice full of internal struggle. “Give him one more chance. I want him to try the Clear Heart Pill.”
Zuo Siqiu thought the man was rotten to the core and beyond saving, but seeing Xiaotian’s desperation, she nodded. “Be quick, Brother. If he strikes first while we’re waiting, we’re in trouble.”
“What tricks are you playing now?” the Long Head sneered. “More of your exploding pills, Zuo Siqiu?”
Long Xiaotian addressed his father. “Father, I have refined a Clear Heart Pill. Will you take it?”
Zuo Siqiu rolled her eyes. Long Xiaotian was great most of the time, but he was infuriatingly indecisive at critical moments. “He’s not going to take it! Is he an idiot? He’s a paranoid old man who came here alone; why would he eat something his enemy gives him?”
She meant it as a jab, but it acted as a perfect taunt. If he were facing a powerhouse like a Xuan Cloud Sect Elder, the Long Head would be cautious. But facing a Nascent Soul son and a Golden Core girl? He was arrogant. He believed Zuo Mudong was still a broken furnace and that Siqiu couldn’t possibly control three hundred souls.
“Do you really think I need to be on high alert against the likes of you?” he sneered.
“Then eat the pill!” Siqiu challenged.
He wasn’t a total fool. “I won’t fall for your trap.”
Zuo Siqiu’s patience snapped. She performed a hand seal and barked a command to the soul puppets: “FORCE FEED HIM! Make sure he swallows that pill!”
Nearly a hundred puppets swarmed him. They felt no pain, no fear, and no emotion. As the Long Head fought them off, Long Xiaotian watched for an opening. The pill was knocked away several times, eventually flying toward A-Hei.
No one paid attention to the “mortal.” The Long Head didn’t even respect Siqiu, let alone a scarred wanderer. He never saw it coming. He didn’t even realize how the pill entered his mouth. By the time he reacted, he had already swallowed it.
A frost-like clarity washed through him. He braced for an explosion or paralysis, but nothing happened. Instead, his mind became terrifyingly sharp.
Long Xiaotian watched with hope. “Father?”
The father’s eyes cleared, but his next words chilled Xiaotian to the bone. “I thought this was a legendary treasure. It turns out it does nothing but clear my head. It seems your ‘tricks’ are over. Now, hand over the puppets, and I might overlook your rebellion.”
His arrogance was gone, replaced by a cold, calculated clarity. He knew exactly what he wanted and moved to strike his son first. If the son fell, the women were nothing.
Zuo Siqiu sighed, turning to A-Hei. “He’s been burned by his dad so many times, yet he still has fantasies? Scum really can’t be trusted.”
A-Hei rasped, “I don’t know why he bothers. But yes, scum is scum.”
Siqiu watched Long Xiaotian being pushed back, her head throbbing. “This Long Head is so annoying. I just got my body healthy again, and now he wants to fight? My spiritual energy is for the baby, not for him.”
A-Hei looked at her, his hand twitching. He was a second away from dropping his act to protect her and the child. But as he opened his mouth, Siqiu reached into her pouch and pulled out thousands of pills.
“I am going to make them pay me back for every single one of these!” she grumbled, looking pained. “I saved these up to get rich, and now I have to use them in a brawl.”
She threw the pills to the souls. “The ones who fight the hardest get their bodies reconstructed first!”
This was more effective than any carrot on a stick. The souls including the bound puppets surged with newfound ferocity.
Three hundred souls formed a massive array. As Long Xiaotian was knocked back by a heavy punch, all the souls threw Spider-Silk Pills.
The sheer volume of silk was enough to bind a dragon. These were expensive, made with materials charged to Xuan Mo’s account. Even the Long Head, in his “clear-headed” state, was caught off guard. The silk clung to him, rendering his spiritual energy useless. His limbs were bound, and he couldn’t even take flight.
Then came the second wave: a literal cloud of Exploding Pig Pills and Freezing Pills.
