After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret - Chapter 36
When Chu Jin woke up the next morning, Chi Ye was still nestled in her arms.
Memories of the previous night surfaced in her mind, and her heartbeat was still a little unsteady. The lingering tenderness in the dark felt like a hazy dream, surreal and intoxicating.
But looking at the sleeping face in her arms now, she could be sure that everything from last night was real.
Thinking of it made her both shy and slightly regretful. Chu Jin gently tried to pull her arm out, but just then, her phone beside the pillow buzzed with a notification.
She glanced at it. It was a message confirming her living allowance had arrived.
Four million.
Double the amount from last month.
Chu Jin instantly felt alert and refreshed, a sense of indescribable joy spreading through her body. She looked at the sleeping face in her arms and couldn’t help but hold Chi Ye a little tighter.
So what if they just slept in the same bed?
For that kind of money, she was willing to sleep next to President Chi every single night.
At that moment, Chi Ye slowly opened her eyes, still carrying a sleepy, dreamy look.
Their eyes met. Even though Chu Jin usually stayed composed, she still felt a little flustered. Instinctively, she tried to pull her arm back from under Chi Ye’s neck, but Chi Ye instead snuggled even closer, like a lazy kitten.
She looked up at Chu Jin with eyes full of warmth and affection.
“Good morning, my love.”
Even though they had not gone all the way the night before, the morning still carried a trace of intimacy.
Chu Jin felt a bit awkward but then remembered the four million. Her eyes curved with a smile as she cleared her throat and responded gently.
“Good morning.”
Still, she didn’t dare linger in bed. She quickly got up to wash. Once the two had finished freshening up, it was time to resume the live broadcast.
At nine on the dot, the camera went live.
Chi Ye, now downstairs, had already returned to her usual cold demeanor. There was no sign of the softness she had shown with Chu Jin. She was once again the aloof and composed President Chi.
She stuck to her morning routine and headed into the kitchen to prepare two cups of hand-ground coffee.
It was then that Yan Sisi approached her quietly.
Keeping her voice low and away from the cameras, she asked, “Are you in heat lately?”
She was always one to speak bluntly.
Chi Ye didn’t want to answer directly. She lifted her eyes to glance at her. “Why?”
“I am,” Yan Sisi said with a bright expression, clearly brimming with happiness.
Before Chi Ye could figure out what she was getting at, Yan Sisi couldn’t hold back and revealed the answer herself.
“Bai Bai marked me.”
Her voice was filled with excitement.
“It happened last night.”
So that was the real reason she came over so early. She was here to show off.
Chi Ye had even less interest in talking now.
Seeing the depth in her gaze, Yan Sisi looked a bit surprised.
“I taught you so much, and you still haven’t gotten anywhere?”
“None of your business.”
Chi Ye didn’t want to elaborate. She had already given it her all. But Chu Jin had the self-control of a monk. What could she do?
Who would have thought that someone as successful as Chi Ye in her career would hit such a wall when it came to romance. Yan Sisi crossed her arms and teased with a smirk.
“Don’t tell me you’re just not good at this, President Chi.”
She was promptly rewarded with a cold glare from Chi Ye.
Just then, the coffee was ready. Yan Sisi knew neither cup was for her, but she made one last effort.
“Give me a cup and I’ll tell you the ultimate trick.”
Chi Ye completely ignored her, picked up both cups, and turned to leave. As she walked away, she tossed out a single sentence.
“I can handle it myself.”
Everything she had done last night was already more than enough. Chu Jin had clearly been close to breaking. Now she just had to wait for the heat cycle to pass. Then she would try again, when Chu Jin would have no more excuses to resist.
Of course, in the meantime, she still had every reason to keep flirting.
Chi Ye walked over with the coffee and handed one cup to Chu Jin.
She kept her expression cool, but when Chu Jin took the cup, Chi Ye deliberately brushed her hand.
The movement was smooth and looked natural, but Chu Jin could tell it was intentional.
She thanked her, but Chi Ye only responded with a calm “Mm.”
She didn’t even spare her a glance.
So cold and distant.
Chu Jin couldn’t help but sigh to herself. President Chi’s acting skills were impressive. It really was a shame she wasn’t an actress.
After a simple breakfast, the production team announced that the final guest of the show would be arriving today. Most of the contestants had already paired up successfully. Only Zhou Meng and Wen Zhixue still held onto a sliver of hope.
Chu Jin wasn’t interested at all. She quietly calculated the time left. Just five more days until the show ended. She wondered if this new guest could really stir things up like others had in the past and create some last-minute drama for the program.
As Chu Jin was lost in thought, she noticed that Qiao Man had unknowingly taken a seat beside her. In her hands was a small brown curly-haired teddy bear.
“Sis, this is for you.”
Chu Jin had no resistance to plush toys. Her eyes lit up instantly and she accepted the bear without hesitation.
“Thank you.”
She recognized the bear as a limited edition from a specialty plush brand. She had tried to get one before, but it sold out too quickly. It had always been a small regret for her.
“Did you get this just for me?” Chu Jin gently patted the bear, careful not to squish it.
“Yes. I thought you might like it, so I pulled a few strings to get one,” Qiao Man replied with a smile.
Holding the bear lifted Chu Jin’s mood. The camera had already turned away from them, and the two continued chatting casually.
“Sis, do you know who the last guest is?” Qiao Man suddenly asked.
“No idea,” Chu Jin replied, shaking her head.
There was no way she would know something like that.
“I heard it’s the daughter of the CEO of Wan Group,” Qiao Man whispered. “That’s what everyone online is saying. She’s really high profile.”
“And from what I heard, she came here for someone.”
Qiao Man spoke with a sense of secrecy, her tone mysterious.
But Chu Jin already had a clear idea.
The Wan Group was one of the top corporations in Linhe, rivaling the Chi family in influence and power. With that kind of background, ordinary people would never even get the chance to meet someone from the Wan family, let alone become involved in a romantic relationship.
So if she had come here for someone, it was almost certainly for Chi Ye.
Although Chi Ye was one of the investors in the show, she did not control all aspects of the production. Most of it was still carried out according to the director’s decisions. She could only influence small matters here and there.
For example, during the initial room assignments, she did ask the director to adjust the drawing order to make sure she could share a room with Chu Jin.
But when it came to which guests were invited, she had no control at all.
Just like Qiao Man, who had made her interest in Chu Jin clear from the beginning. And now, this daughter of the Wan Group seemed to be the same.
Not long after Chu Jin finished speaking with Qiao Man, the show’s van pulled up in front of the villa.
Through the glass window, they saw a graceful woman stepping out.
Out of courtesy, everyone stood up to welcome the final guest. It wasn’t until the woman walked through the villa entrance that they got a full view of her appearance.
Her hair was styled into soft waves, one side tucked behind her ear, revealing a round pearl earring. She wore a black V-neck blouse and a white polka-dot skirt, along with black heels. In her hand, she carried a Hermès handbag. Only after entering the room did she take off her sunglasses.
There was a hint of mature elegance about her, but her dark eyes were nothing like Chi Ye’s cool and quiet gaze. Instead, they were cold and still, like those of a wild creature lurking in silence.
On the surface, she wore a faint, polite smile.
“Hello everyone, my name is Wan Qing.”
One by one, the others introduced themselves and shook hands with her.
Her eyes were sharp and unreadable, like a hidden blade concealed in the night. Though she seemed calm, something about her felt dangerous.
Her gaze moved quietly across each person’s face, finally stopping on Chu Jin. She studied her for a moment before moving on, her expression unchanged. Her eyes then landed on Chi Ye, who had remained behind the group and had not stepped forward to greet her.
Their eyes met across the distance. Even though they were far apart, the moment their gazes locked, it felt like cold steel clashing in silence. The tension between them sparked sharply, cutting through the air.
Wan Qing was the first to react. She curled her lips slightly.
“Chi Ye, it has been a long time.”
