After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret - Chapter 25
Yan Sisi noticed that from the moment they got in the car, Chi Ye had been glued to her phone. Even earlier, while they were grocery shopping, she had been completely distracted, never once taking her eyes off that useless device.
Because of that, Yan Sisi had to take care of all the shopping by herself. She carried large bags in both hands until her arms ached, and Chi Ye never once offered to help. If Bai Bai hadn’t been busy with work that morning and unable to come along, Yan Sisi wouldn’t have had to suffer like this.
She secretly hoped the audience would witness all of this and see for themselves what the popular guest Chi Ye was really like. Lazy, bossy, and completely inconsiderate.
Meanwhile, the seemingly unnoticed Yan Sisi was hardworking, responsible, and full of quiet beauty and grace.
Of course, that was just wishful thinking.
She knew none of it would be shown to the public.
Yan Sisi let out a quiet sigh. For a moment, she deeply resented rich people like Chi Ye. Then she rubbed her sore forearms to ease the ache.
When she saw that Chi Ye was still ignoring her completely, she finally couldn’t help leaning over to peek at her phone screen.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
Chi Ye didn’t answer. Instead, she turned her phone around so the back faced Yan Sisi, then went right back to liking comments under the topic thread about the “Reserved Couple.”
When she came across posts that deeply resonated with her, she even sent rewards.
Seeing how cold Chi Ye was being, Yan Sisi raised her voice on purpose.
“I heard from the crew that someone had a sensitivity episode last night.”
Chi Ye immediately looked up. This was something she had specifically told the director to keep private. Her gaze turned sharp as she stared at Yan Sisi and asked, “Who said that?”
Feeling the chill in her eyes, Yan Sisi realized Chi Ye was taking it seriously. She quickly explained, not wanting to get the crew in trouble.
“I saw it myself last night. I went downstairs to get some water and saw you borrowing suppressants from the director.”
“You looked completely fine, like nothing was wrong. So I figured you were borrowing it for someone else.” She glanced sideways at Chi Ye, then leaned in a little, covering her mouth with her hand as she whispered playfully.
“So? What happened last night?”
Chi Ye relaxed slightly after hearing the explanation. But she gave a cold response to the final question.
“None of your business.”
Yan Sisi pretended to be shocked. “Don’t tell me nothing happened?” she teased.
“Did you at least kiss her?”
Chi Ye’s face remained as cold as ever, showing no other emotion. Yan Sisi frowned slightly, clearly disappointed.
“No way. The great, unstoppable President Chi couldn’t even get a kiss out of her wife under those circumstances?”
That hit a nerve. Chi Ye’s expression darkened.
“If it were me,” Yan Sisi said proudly, “I would have done everything that should and shouldn’t be done.”
“President Chi, want me to teach you?”
“Give me three days, and your wife will fall for you completely and never want to leave again.”
“But I’ll have to charge tuition. Don’t worry, I’ll give you a discount.”
Still going on and on, Yan Sisi tried to sell herself like a coach. But Chi Ye had had enough of her noise and rejected her flatly.
“No need.”
Her attention returned to her phone screen, which was still displaying the live broadcast of the show.
The camera had switched to the living room. Chi Ye noticed immediately that Qiao Man had gone upstairs, carrying something in her hands.
A bad feeling rose in Chi Ye’s chest. But the camera didn’t follow her upstairs, so she had no idea where Qiao Man ended up.
It wasn’t just Chi Ye who was watching. Chu Jin, feeling bored, had also opened the livestream.
Today was the day Chi Ye and Yan Sisi were in charge of cooking. They had gone grocery shopping together. For some reason, the thought of the two of them having time alone left Chu Jin feeling a little uneasy.
She wondered what they might be doing. Had Chi Ye wrapped an arm around Yan Sisi’s waist when they got in the car?
The more she thought about it, the more irritated she felt. She tried to distract herself and stared blankly at the screen. Unfortunately, there was no livestream of the grocery trip, so she had no idea what ingredients they bought or what dishes they planned to cook.
Then again, with their level of cooking, she doubted they could make anything impressive anyway.
Chu Jin couldn’t help but think of that sandwich again. Just the memory of it made her want to gag.
At that moment, someone knocked on the door.
Chi Ye wasn’t back yet. And she wouldn’t knock.
Feeling curious, Chu Jin opened the door.
The person outside smiled brightly as she greeted her.
“Good morning, big sister.”
Qiao Man had changed into a pink dress that made her fair skin look even more radiant. Her hair and makeup were just as perfect as yesterday. She had even put on perfume.
“I heard you’re not feeling well,” Qiao Man said with concern, her eyebrows gently furrowed. “Are you alright?”
This must have been something Chi Ye told the crew. Chu Jin decided to play along and let out a small cough.
“Just a bit of a cold. I’m feeling much better now.”
“That’s good,” Qiao Man nodded. Then she lifted the bag in her hand.
“I brought some cold medicine. I wasn’t sure what kind you needed, so I brought all the ones I had.”
The bag was full of various medications. It seemed she had put real effort into this.
Chu Jin felt a bit guilty. After all, she wasn’t actually sick. If she accepted Qiao Man’s kind gesture, it would feel dishonest.
She waved her hand politely. “It’s alright. I already have medicine, and I’m mostly better now.”
“What kind of medicine did you take?” Qiao Man asked, then quickly explained.
“There are different kinds of colds. Some are from wind chill and others from internal heat. The symptoms are different, and so are the treatments.”
“If you take the wrong medicine, it can make things worse.”
“I…” Chu Jin hadn’t expected her to know so much. She rarely got sick and couldn’t name any medicines off the top of her head. She admitted defeat.
“I don’t really know what kind of cold I have.”
Qiao Man smiled and gently shook the bag.
“That’s why I brought medicine for both types. You can look at the symptoms and choose what fits.”
“Alright.” Chu Jin had no more reason to refuse, so she accepted the bag. “Thank you.”
“Did Chi Ye make breakfast for you?” Qiao Man asked, not showing any signs of leaving. She glanced into the room. “Let me help you take the dishes downstairs.”
Seeing how attentive she was, Chu Jin was a little surprised and let her in.
That morning, Chu Jin had messaged the production team first thing, asking if there were any fresh bed sheets. They sent someone right away and told her that Chi Ye had already arranged it earlier. They were just waiting for Chu Jin to wake up before replacing them.
After tidying up, Chu Jin had removed the cover from the camera. She didn’t want the audience to see the red wine stains on the sheets and imagine something inappropriate.
Because of this, Qiao Man didn’t notice anything out of place.
She walked over to the table, picked up the breakfast tray and coffee cup without being asked.
“Thank you,” Chu Jin said sincerely.
“It’s alright, sister,” Qiao Man said with a gentle smile. She glanced down at the clean, empty plate and asked softly, “Was the sandwich she made any good?”
Chu Jin really couldn’t bring herself to lie and say it tasted good. After thinking for a moment, she gave a neutral answer.
“It was okay.”
Not particularly tasty, but still edible.
Qiao Man picked up on the subtle meaning behind her words. A hint of amusement appeared in her eyes.
“I’ll make one for you tomorrow too. You can try it and see which one tastes better.”
Chu Jin almost cried out, “Please don’t.”
That would be a complete disaster. No matter whose sandwich she said was better, it would offend someone.
“That’s not necessary,” Chu Jin said quickly. “Tomorrow I’ll just eat whatever the production team provides.”
“Store-bought food is never as healthy as homemade. It’s really no trouble, sister,” Qiao Man replied with a warm smile. “You know I’d love to do it.”
Seeing how persistent she was, Chu Jin decided to be direct.
“Actually, I don’t like sandwiches.”
She looked at Qiao Man and added, “So please don’t make one.”
This time, it worked. Qiao Man fell silent.
But then her gaze shifted past Chu Jin, looking toward the doorway.
Chu Jin felt a chill run down her spine.
No way. Not again.
The same thing had happened before when she was talking to He Zhu at the villa.
Qiao Man narrowed her eyes and greeted the person at the door casually.
“Good morning.”
Then she turned back to Chu Jin and said softly, “I’ll be going now, sister.”
She left right after that.
Chu Jin gave herself a moment to collect her thoughts, forced a smile, and turned around.
“You’re back.”
Chi Ye was standing there with a paper bag in her hand.
She gave a short reply. “Yes.”
What surprised Chu Jin was that Chi Ye didn’t look the least bit angry.
Even so, Chu Jin still felt the need to explain.
“President Chi, it’s not what it looked like just now.”
“It’s fine,” Chi Ye replied calmly as she placed the paper bag on the table.
After a pause, she asked in a casual tone, “What kind of food do you like?”
Chu Jin blinked.
What was this about? Not only was she not mad, but she was even asking what Chu Jin liked to eat?
“As long as it’s made by you, I’ll like it,” Chu Jin said with a playful smile. Then she quickly added, “Not that I expect you to cook again tomorrow.”
She meant what she said.
She really couldn’t handle another of Chi Ye’s sandwiches. It was already a miracle she survived the first one.
But Chi Ye’s expression softened slightly. She glanced at Chu Jin with a bit of pride and lifted her chin.
“Since you like it, I’ll make one for you again tomorrow.”
Then she added, “Because you’re sick.”
Chu Jin smiled awkwardly, struggling inside.
What a mess. She had no one to blame but herself.
That was what she got for not watching her words.
Chi Ye opened the paper bag slightly.
Before coming upstairs, she had already told the director not to show any live footage from the bedroom for the next thirty minutes. Still, just in case, she only glanced inside the bag without taking anything out.
“It’s here,” she said, giving Chu Jin a quick look.
Chu Jin understood. This must be the suppressant Chi Ye had mentioned last night.
She looked inside the bag and asked, “Do you want to keep some for yourself?”
There seemed to be quite a few doses. Surely not all of them were meant for her.
“I don’t need it,” Chi Ye replied casually.
Chu Jin looked at her with some concern.
“Didn’t you say yours is coming up in a few days?”
Chi Ye suddenly realized what she had said.
“It’s fine. You take them first. I’ll have He Zhu bring more when I need them.”
“Alright,” Chu Jin replied, this time smiling sincerely.
Chi Ye always acted cold on the outside, but sometimes, she did things that were incredibly thoughtful. Even after what happened last night, she didn’t hold a grudge. She had taken care of everything without complaint.
Chu Jin felt a warmth rise in her chest. She looked at Chi Ye and said sincerely, “Thank you.”
Chi Ye glanced at her. Her eyes flickered slightly, then quickly returned to calm. She said nothing and placed the paper bag on the table.
Her eyes drifted toward the medicine bag Qiao Man had brought earlier.
She seemed to be thinking about something.
Just as Chu Jin was wondering if she should change the subject, Chi Ye raised her hand, pinched the medicine bag between her fingers with clear distaste, and casually tossed it into the trash can beside the table.
Her movements were smooth and effortless, as if she had just thrown away something completely worthless.
