After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret - Chapter 20
The night breeze blew gently, and Chu Jin felt the dizziness rise in her head. Her cheeks were as pink as peach blossoms, and her eyes began to lose focus, misty and dreamy. A faint red colored the corners of her eyes, making her gaze shine like a pool of romantic spring water.
Chu Jin lowered her eyes and looked at Chi Ye.
In her heart, Chi Ye looked even more beautiful under the moonlight.
The soft light made her features appear gentler than they did during the day. It was as if a thin veil of mist surrounded her, adding warmth and tenderness to her usual calm and quiet expression.
The gummy candy lightly pressed against Chi Ye’s lips made the scene feel even more tempting and sweet.
Chu Jin found herself staring at her lips.
A sudden urge to kiss her rose inside her chest.
Chi Ye noticed the change in her expression and frowned slightly.
“You are drunk.”
Chu Jin ignored her warning. Taking the opportunity, she pushed the gummy candy into Chi Ye’s mouth. After succeeding, she gave a small, pleased smile.
She bit down on her side of the candy and whispered softly, “Let’s start.”
Watching her movements, Chi Ye swallowed hard before replying with a quiet sound of agreement.
To make things easier, Chu Jin tilted her head slightly to the right. Her long eyelashes cast soft shadows over her eyes, hiding her thoughts. Her narrowed gaze was full of teasing charm and bold desire.
But her dizziness made her feel unstable, so she lifted her arms and rested them on Chi Ye’s shoulders for support.
The moment she touched her, Chi Ye’s body tensed.
But Chu Jin, now fully under the influence of the wine, felt no fear. She even let her fingers brush lightly across Chi Ye’s skin through the fabric.
Even though the touch was through her shirt, Chi Ye’s skin was sensitive enough to tingle, the feeling spreading from her shoulders to every part of her body.
Chi Ye felt a strange heat rising. It seemed she had underestimated Chu Jin’s boldness.
At that moment, the camera caught a scene that was incredibly intimate.
The two stood under the warm light. Chu Jin’s head was slightly tilted, and as they each bit further into the gummy candy, their faces grew closer and closer. It looked just like a couple about to kiss.
The live chat exploded with excitement.
[Ahhhhhhh]
[This restraint is everything. I love this ship so much.]
[CP fans are living the dream tonight.]
[Tears of envy are falling from my mouth. This is way too sweet.]
[No regrets following this pairing. This is real sugar.]
[Kiss already. Just kiss.]
Chi Ye had always believed she could stay calm no matter the situation. Even when her company once faced a major crisis, she had not even blinked.
But now, as Chu Jin inched closer, her heart began to race.
Maybe it was the faint scent of wine in Chu Jin’s breath. Maybe it was the way her eyes glowed with an overwhelming charm that the camera could not capture.
Chu Jin’s eyes were already beautiful. But now, hazy with drunkenness, they revealed her true desire without holding anything back.
Chi Ye was the first to look away.
Chu Jin noticed the change. Her eyes, which had been lowered, lifted to meet Chi Ye’s.
She bit on the gummy candy and spoke in a low, slightly husky voice.
“What’s wrong?”
It was not her imagination. In that brief moment, Chu Jin clearly saw nervousness on Chi Ye’s face.
She was nervous.
But why?
With a hint of curiosity and teasing, Chu Jin tightened her grip on Chi Ye’s shoulders and bit off a big piece of the candy.
Their noses were almost touching. They could feel each other’s breath clearly.
Chi Ye was surprised and instinctively raised her hand to press it against Chu Jin’s chest.
Everyone around them gasped.
Xin Ning spoke up to remind them, “You still have more to go. That’s at least five centimeters left.”
Chu Jin could feel the pressure from Chi Ye’s hand. Chi Ye would not even look at her and seemed uncomfortable.
That one second sobered Chu Jin up more than anything else.
She wisely bit off the candy, let go of Chi Ye’s shoulders, and took a step back.
“I give up.”
“What?” The group looked disappointed.
They had been so close. Why give up now?
“I admit defeat,” Chu Jin repeated, this time with no room for discussion.
Chi Ye’s expression returned to her usual calm, though there was an extra layer of coldness. She took the leftover gummy candy from her mouth and threw it into the trash.
Chu Jin happened to see that.
Her eyes darkened slightly, but she said nothing.
Knowing she had broken the rules of the game, Chu Jin picked up a glass from the table and downed the rest of the wine in one gulp.
The glass had been more than half full, but she finished it all at once.
Xin Ning sensed the shift in the mood and did not push further. She moved on and called for the next person.
Chu Jin curled up again on the swing, wrapped in her shawl. Her eyelids drooped, making her look sleepy, but her mind was a complete mess.
She kept thinking about what had just happened.
She wanted to slap herself.
She had really crossed a line. Drinking had completely messed her up.
After what happened, Chu Jin could clearly feel that Chi Ye was upset.
She did not dare look at her.
It was not until Chi Ye’s turn came to choose between truth or dare that Chu Jin finally looked her way again.
She could still see the anger in her expression.
Chu Jin quickly looked away, afraid she might make it worse.
“Truth.”
Chi Ye’s voice was calm.
Wen Zhixue looked around at the others and asked excitedly, “What should we ask? Anyone have a good one?”
Xin Ning jumped in quickly.
“Do you like someone right now?”
“Yes, someone from this show. Is there someone here you like?” Wen Zhixue added more clearly.
Chi Ye paused, her expression turning darker.
“Yes.”
Chu Jin raised an eyebrow slightly.
That answer was not surprising.
Her eyes moved naturally toward Yan Sisi.
“Wow,” Wen Zhixue smiled and pressed further. “Who is it?”
Chi Ye refused to answer.
“That is the second question.”
With no answer to satisfy their curiosity, the game moved on. After it ended, the night was getting late, and the production team began revealing the results of the anonymous messages everyone had sent the day before.
As the gathering came to an end, the production team posed one final question.
“Has your romantic interest changed since yesterday?”
Xin Ning and Yan Sisi replied in unison, “No change!”
The others, however, admitted that their feelings had shifted. Then, everyone turned their attention to Chi Ye and Chu Jin, the only two who had not answered yet.
Chi Ye responded first.
“It can change.”
No one was surprised by that answer.
Yesterday, she had messaged Yan Sisi in an attempt to provoke jealousy. Today, it made sense that she would send it to the person she truly liked.
Chu Jin rubbed the tassels on her shawl between her fingers and replied casually,
“Probably.”
That marked the official end of the activity, and everyone was free to return to their rooms to rest.
Chu Jin decided to sit outside a little longer. She watched as the others left one by one, and once the courtyard finally quieted down, her thoughts became clearer.
Everything that had just happened still felt unreal, like a dream. She did not even dare to check the comments in the livestream.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed.
It was a message from her close friend Song Xunyu, who had sent several excited emoji stickers in a row.
[Real couples are the most fun to ship!]
[You two were about to kiss! Why did you stop?]
Chu Jin replied irritably,
[We are not a real couple. It’s just a contract.]
But Song Xunyu had already lost all sense of reason.
[I don’t care. You two are legally married.]
[Please just kiss her next time.]
[If you’re too shy, at least kiss her in private and record it for me.]
Chu Jin’s mind was already a mess. Reading those messages only made her feel more guilty and flustered. She scolded Song Xunyu a little and put her phone away.
It was nearly nine o’clock before she finally went upstairs.
As soon as she opened the door, she heard the sound of running water from the bathroom.
Chi Ye must have been taking a shower.
Chu Jin let out a sigh of relief. At least she would not have to help Chi Ye bathe tonight.
Still, Chi Ye probably would not want to see her either.
Chu Jin suddenly felt uneasy.
She had signed a contract to take care of Chi Ye. By right, she should have stayed with her. But instead, she had lingered downstairs for so long.
Maybe Chi Ye had been waiting for her.
As Chu Jin was still lost in thought, the sound of water stopped.
Her breath caught for a moment.
The room was so quiet, she could hear her own heartbeat. Her focus remained fixed on the direction of the bathroom, straining to hear any movement from inside.
Time passed slowly. Chi Ye took her time blow-drying her hair. Only after a while did the bathroom door finally open.
A faint floral scent drifted into the room. Chi Ye had already changed into a silk nightgown.
Feeling Chi Ye’s gaze, Chu Jin became a little uneasy.
She decided to speak first.
“How is your wound?”
Her eyes dropped to Chi Ye’s hand and noticed that the bandage was wet.
Without thinking, Chu Jin walked up to her and gently took her hand.
“If it gets wet, it might get infected. Let me change the dressing.”
She felt guilty. She had spent so much time downstairs and had completely forgotten that Chi Ye was injured.
Chu Jin could tell Chi Ye wanted to refuse, so she spoke before she could.
“Be good. Let me take care of it.”
