After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret - Chapter 19
When Chu Jin heard that, she almost choked.
She picked up her glass and took a sip of water, then shot Xin Ning a warning look.
“Don’t talk nonsense. There’s nothing going on between me and her.”
“Come on, sis, don’t be so stubborn,” Xin Ning replied with a sly smile. “I’ll ask you again when we play Truth or Dare later.”
Chu Jin blinked in confusion.
What on earth was that supposed to mean?
Xin Ning had accidentally overheard the production team talking. After dinner, the group would be playing Truth or Dare in the courtyard.
Sure enough, once they finished eating, the production crew informed them of the plan.
In the courtyard, they arranged chairs and a round table around the double swing, forming a circle.
It was just after sunset, and the night had begun to settle in. The sky outside grew darker, but the small courtyard was lit with strings of lights that twinkled like stars. A warm desk lamp glowed on the table, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
The crew asked everyone to sit in the order of their roommates. As a result, Chu Jin was placed on the swing with Chi Ye.
The early summer breeze was still a bit chilly. Since she was dressed lightly, Chu Jin wrapped herself in a shawl.
Ever since Xin Ning spoiled the surprise, Chu Jin had been quietly dreading this game. She was never lucky in things like this.
When the game officially began, it came as no surprise that she was picked to go first.
“Truth or dare?” Xin Ning asked eagerly.
Chu Jin immediately sensed trouble and chose without hesitation.
“Dare.”
“Alright, then pick a card.”
Xin Ning pointed at the pink box on the table in front of Chu Jin. The box had the word “Dare” written on it. To be fair, everyone would draw their challenge from there.
Chu Jin silently hoped the task wouldn’t be too absurd. After all, this variety show had already pushed the boundaries by putting alphas and omegas in the same house. Who knew what else they would try?
She spent quite some time choosing, then finally picked one card.
She opened it in front of everyone.
“Please show the most recent photo from your phone’s gallery,” Xin Ning read aloud, tilting her head as she carefully pronounced each word.
Then she let out a disappointed sigh.
“This is so boring.”
The huge weight pressing down on Chu Jin’s chest finally disappeared. It looked like luck was still on her side. At least it was not anything outrageous.
She appreciated the production team for being kind. They clearly were not trying to embarrass anyone on purpose.
Feeling relieved, Chu Jin took out her phone without hesitation.
Still, being a cautious celebrity, she decided to take a quick look first.
As soon as she saw the screen, her expression changed. Her eyes widened and she quickly turned off her phone.
Why was it that photo?
Her scalp tingled as panic set in.
Then she remembered the picture. It was taken after dinner that day with Chi Ye. He had been working on his laptop while she secretly snapped a silly selfie of the two of them on the couch.
If anyone saw it, that would be a huge problem.
Never mind exposing their possible relationship. If Chi Ye saw that she had secretly taken a photo of him, he might actually lose it.
Xin Ning noticed her lock the phone and asked curiously, “What’s wrong?”
Chu Jin’s mind raced. Before anyone could grow suspicious, she came up with a perfect excuse.
“This dare isn’t really challenging or interesting. Why don’t I draw another one?”
Luckily, no one questioned her. In fact, the suggestion seemed to excite Xin Ning even more. She smiled brightly and nodded.
“Sure, if we are going to play, let’s go big.”
So Chu Jin picked another card.
By this point, she had a very bad feeling.
She flipped it open and took a look.
She immediately felt that she needed to visit a temple as soon as possible.
Her luck was just too awful.
When Xin Ning saw Chu Jin freeze up, she knew something was up. She quickly snatched the card and read it out loud for everyone.
“Share a gummy candy with the person on your left. By the end, only one and a half centimeters of the candy should remain.”
Everyone reacted instantly and burst into laughter and cheers.
Even Bai Xuqing teased, “The person on your left is Chi Ye.”
Chu Jin felt a headache coming on.
She was not sure if it was the dare itself or the alcohol she had earlier, but when she read the words on the card, they did not feel real.
She kept trying to picture what one and a half centimeters looked like. At that distance, wouldn’t their lips already be touching?
Xin Ning, who was clearly enjoying the drama, quickly got up and went to the production team.
“I want to see what kind of gummy candy they are using.”
“This is a bit too much, isn’t it?” Wen Zhixue still had a polite smile on her face, but her eyes held no trace of humor. In fact, she looked a little displeased.
“What’s the problem? It is for entertainment,” Yan Sisi disagreed.
This was nothing compared to what she had seen in bars. Sharing a gummy candy was far from being an actual kiss.
She even secretly hoped she would get this dare later. She would love to share a gummy with Bai Bai.
“I agree,” Bai Xuqing added.
Hearing that made Yan Sisi’s mood instantly brighten. She leaned back slightly and glanced at Chi Ye, her expression unreadable.
“Don’t you think so, Chi Ye?”
Chu Jin was now full of regret. She should have just chosen truth earlier. At worst, she could have lied and made something up. Anything would have been better than this.
She did not even dare look at Chi Ye.
She imagined he must be fuming inside but was holding back only because they were live on camera.
As Yan Sisi tried to joke with him, Chi Ye simply swirled the wine in his glass, took a small sip, and calmly answered.
“Yes.”
What?
Chi Ye actually said yes?
Chu Jin felt surprised.
Even though her heart was in turmoil, she kept a calm expression. Still, her curiosity got the better of her, and she couldn’t help but glance sideways at Chi Ye.
She did not expect their eyes to meet.
Chi Ye’s gaze was deep and unreadable, just like always. Her expression showed no emotion, making it impossible to tell what she was thinking.
Chi Ye was also dressed lightly today. She wore only a thin black shirt, and now that the night breeze had picked up, the fabric fluttered slightly against her slender shoulders. Chu Jin’s eyes drifted, almost involuntarily, to the curve of her collarbone hidden beneath the neckline.
Because of the shadows, she could not see the tiny mole that she knew was there.
Perhaps it was the wine, or maybe the moment, but with a slight buzz in her head, Chu Jin found herself lingering on Chi Ye’s figure longer than she should have. She completely forgot about her surroundings.
“What is it?”
Chi Ye’s voice was cool and clear, like the evening breeze, carrying a hint of moisture.
The question snapped Chu Jin out of her thoughts. She felt flustered, like she had been caught doing something wrong. Clearing her throat, she blurted out a random question.
“Are you cold?”
“No.”
“I’m not cold either.” Chu Jin’s mind was already blank, and she was just saying whatever came to her. She opened her shawl. “The alcohol is kicking in. I’m feeling a bit warm.”
She really was feeling warm now, though she wasn’t sure if it was from the wine or from her momentary desire toward Chi Ye while tipsy.
“You are.” Chi Ye looked at her calmly and added, “Your face is completely red.”
Chu Jin quickly looked away, her voice losing confidence.
“Then I must be drunk.”
Just then, Xin Ning came over with the gummy candies.
She was holding a small bag filled with dozens of colorful pieces.
Grinning from ear to ear, Xin Ning handed the bag to Chu Jin.
“Here, pick a color you like.”
Chu Jin took the bag, still hoping to get out of it.
“How about we switch to something else?” she asked.
Sharing a single gummy with someone was already awkward. Doing it with Chi Ye, and with the risk of their lips touching, was something she simply could not imagine.
“The person on your left has no complaints. What are you afraid of?” Xin Ning raised an eyebrow with a teasing smile.
“Exactly. Chi Ye hasn’t said a word,” Yan Sisi chimed in.
Chu Jin glanced at Chi Ye, who remained completely silent.
She looked indifferent, as if this had nothing to do with her, as if she were only a bystander.
Chu Jin turned to look at Yan Sisi, who was now whispering with Bai Xuqing. Both of them had soft smiles on their faces and looked rather sweet together.
Still unwilling to give in, Chu Jin looked back at Chi Ye, trying hard to communicate with her through eye contact.
This was not the time to be jealous or get back at anyone. She was willing to act out anything else, but such intimate contact in front of everyone seemed a little inappropriate. Wasn’t this crossing the line?
But Chi Ye ignored her completely.
“Fine.” Chu Jin gave up, sighing to herself. Chi Ye really was stubborn. She would rather kiss another woman than back down.
So be it. If she had to sell a bit of charm, then so be it. After all, Chi Ye was paying her well. Besides, her lips looked soft and probably felt nice to kiss too.
Chu Jin opened the candy wrapper and picked out a pink gummy.
“Forgive me, President Chi,” she muttered under her breath.
Then she placed one end of the candy in her mouth and lifted the other end to press it gently against Chi Ye’s lips.
