After Marking The Cold and Aloof Omega Senior - Chapter 4
“Senior Sister Sect Leader! It’s me!”
The sword intent halted. Qing Yao looked at Fu Yu’s face: “Little Junior Sister?”
Seeing Qing Yao sheathe her sword, Fu Yu’s heart finally settled.
Qing Yao asked, “Why are you here?”
Fu Yu was momentarily stunned by the question. She studied Qing Yao’s expression, but found her face as stern as usual, revealing no particular emotion. She thought to herself: What does Senior Sister mean by asking this? Didn’t she already ask last night? It sounds as if she’s forgotten last night’s events, as if this were their first meeting this morning.
But how could she forget? After all, last night had been so intense. Fu Yu recalled the melodramatic plots from those cliché dramas she’d watched, this situation seemed quite similar, as if Qing Yao felt last night’s events shouldn’t have happened and it was all Fu Yu’s fault for coming to the cave.
Fu Yu lowered her head and said dejectedly, “Senior Sister Sect Leader, I didn’t come here on purpose.” It was all because of that wretched Xiao Mei.
Seeing that Fu Yu appeared remorseful, Qing Yao said, “Forget it. Just don’t let it happen again.”
Fu Yu quickly looked up. “There won’t be a next time!” Rest assured, if there were, she’d cut off her own fingers.
Qing Yao stopped looking at her and instead scanned their surroundings until she noticed a white jade pendant fallen beside a large rock. She walked over and picked it up.
“Alright, let’s return to the sect,” Qing Yao said.
Watching her reattach the pendant to her belt, Fu Yu remembered, she must have dropped it while fastening Qing Yao’s belt earlier.
“Senior Sister, aren’t you going into seclusion anymore?”
Fu Yu subtly sniffed the air. The scent of fragrant snowflowers was no longer as strong as before. So just one time was enough to get through the estrus cycle, and the pheromones would fade back to their usual level.
The two walked out of the cave one after the other, heading toward the sect.
Fu Yu watched Qing Yao’s back as the morning breeze lifted the hem of her white dress, making it look like a drifting white cloud, untouched by dust. Fu Yu thought, Qing Yao truly was fit to be a sect leader. After what happened last night, she could still appear so composed and unruffled, truly admirable.
Perhaps she was pretending nothing happened to avoid future awkwardness between them?
Lost in her thoughts, Fu Yu’s stomach suddenly betrayed her with a loud, rumbling growl.
Fu Yu was annoyed. Was it really necessary to growl so loudly just from missing one meal? And in front of Senior Sister Qing Yao, no less, she felt so embarrassed and ashamed.
Qing Yao, with her advanced cultivation and heightened senses far beyond ordinary cultivators, naturally heard the “empty city stratagem war drums.” She turned back. “Did you skip breakfast?”
Fu Yu shook her head and casually asked, “What about you?” As she spoke, she reached into her robe to fetch the steamed buns, planning to share one each.
But before she could even pull out the buns, Qing Yao said, “It’s so late, of course I’ve already eaten.”
Fu Yu’s mind stuttered at this. “Senior Sister… you… you still need to eat?”
Qing Yao asked, “Is there a problem?”
Fu Yu felt there probably was a slight problem. With such high cultivation, didn’t most immortal protagonists in xianxia novels abstain from food? Had Qing Yao always eaten? She suspected that Qing Yao left the cave after waking up just to have breakfast. Imagine an ethereal, otherworldly immortal actually using chopsticks to put a chicken drumstick into her mouth. The mental image was truly bizarre.
“Hmm?”
Perhaps because Fu Yu hadn’t responded for a while, Qing Yao let out a melodious hum of inquiry.
Fu Yu said, “I haven’t eaten yet. I brought two buns, would you like one, Senior Sister?”
Qing Yao didn’t look at Fu Yu and continued walking ahead. “What filling are they?”
Fu Yu was surprised Qing Yao would ask. She didn’t know the filling either, so she took a bite of one. “It’s cilantro filling, really fragrant. Are you sure you don’t want one, Senior Sister?”
“No need.”
Fu Yu had no choice but to eat as she walked, her gaze fixed intently on Qing Yao.
Since transmigrating, she had rarely been alone with Qing Yao, let alone spoken to her. The few sentences they had just exchanged were already the most Qing Yao had spoken to her in a single day.
Qing Yao had always been a woman of few words, so Fu Yu was genuinely taken aback that she had said this much.
Perhaps it was because last night, when Qing Yao was suffering from her emotional cycle, Fu Yu happened to appear. Whether or not it broke the cultivation method of detachment was another matter, but she had indeed alleviated her suffering.
Moreover, given what had happened between them, their relationship was inevitably different from others.
After entering the mountain gate, the two parted ways and returned to their respective rooms.
As soon as Fu Yu returned, she flopped onto the bed like a salted fish, staring blankly at the green canopy above without blinking.
The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Just then, Xiao Mei suddenly spoke up. [Congratulations, Fu Yu. First objective achieved.]
Fu Yu was startled and frowned. Hey, could you give me a heads-up before you speak? You scared me to death.
[Xiao Mei always talks like this. It’s your fault for being so lost in thought. What, were you thinking about Qing Yao?]
Fu Yu: Get lost. Why would I think about her?
Xiao Mei: [Xiao Mei reminds you, don’t think that just because you’ve slept with Qing Yao, you’ve successfully conquered her. It can’t be that simple.]
Fu Yu wasn’t surprised: Yeah, yeah, the usual routine is to win her heart.
Xiao Mei: [Our Fu Yu is such a clever little cutie.]
Fu Yu: …Thanks a lot.
Xiao Mei quieted down for a while, and Fu Yu finally got a moment of peace. But before she could fully enjoy it, Xiao Mei stirred up trouble again.
[Fu Yu, to improve system functionality and enhance user experience, there’s a questionnaire for you to fill out now.]
Fu Yu was about to explode: Get lost.
[Completing it will reward you with ten spirit stones, and there’s a surprise bonus waiting for you.]
Fu Yu sat up: Alright, I’m ready.
A worker’s spirit is a worker’s soul, if the pay is good, everything’s negotiable.
A shimmering screen, about the size of a tablet, appeared in front of Fu Yu. The screen first displayed the survey’s theme: “First Experience of Love.” After three seconds, the words vanished, replaced by a multiple-choice question:
During your first time with your CP, who was on top?
A. You were on top
B. She was on top
C. Side position
D. Other
Fu Yu nearly spat blood: Xiao Mei, are you insane?! You promised to protect my privacy and not spy, and now you’re trying to trick me into answering like this?
When Xiao Mei was in answer mode, it usually ignored other questions, as if it had transformed from a super-intelligent robot into a dumb one.
Fine, if you ignore me, I’ll ignore you too. After all the tossing and turning last night, she was exhausted. Sleep first, respect to rest!
With that, Fu Yu closed her eyes and fell asleep.
When she woke up again, it was already afternoon. She was still groggy and had almost forgotten about the questionnaire.
But as soon as she opened her eyes, she was startled once more.
Fu Yu: Xiao Mei, are you ever going to stop? Why is this screen still here
It seems that if she doesn’t finish the questions, this screen will keep haunting her relentlessly.
Gritting her teeth, Fu Yu began to accept the “investigation.”
For the first question, she chose D.
The second question: Based on your answer to the first question, what was the position? If it’s too embarrassing to describe, you can draw it.
Below the question appeared a blank box for drawing.
Fu Yu felt something was off. Why did this survey keep circling back to last night’s events? After a moment’s thought, she seemed to realize something and grew even angrier.
Fu Yu: Xiao Mei I don’t want the ten spirit stones or the easter egg anymore. I’m giving up on this survey!
[No, no! My dear, just tell me. I’m dying of curiosity!] As soon as she finished speaking, Xiao Mei realized she had slipped up.
Sure enough, she had been tricked by Xiao Mei. There was no survey at all, it was just Xiao Mei abusing her authority to pry into Fu Yu’s private affairs.
Fu Yu: You’re just a system, why are you so nosy?
Xiao Mei whined, [I’m a matchmaker-type system, naturally interested in all matters of romance. If it weren’t for the mandatory privacy settings, I could handle any level of explicitness. Forget cave play, any kind of play is fine, even orgies.]
Fu Yu: ?
Farewell.
Xiao Mei: [Oh well, if you won’t tell me, forget it. But I’ll still give you the ten spirit stones and the easter egg.]
As Xiao Mei spoke, ten dazzling, golden, high-grade spirit stones materialized out of thin air by Fu Yu’s bedside.
Fu Yu was nearly blinded by their brilliance!
Fu Yu: What’s this? There really is a reward?
Xiao Mei: [Of course! You completed the “first blood” mission quite well. This reward was pre-set.]
Fu Yu hugged the spirit stones: Stupid Xiao Mei, you actually tricked me. Why not just give me the stones directly? And what about the easter egg? What is it?
Then, right next to the spirit stones, a blank sheet of paper and a fine brush appeared.
Fu Yu stared at the paper and brush, confused: What’s this?
Xiao Mei: [It’s a piece of paper and a brush.]
Fu Yu was speechless: Who doesn’t know that?
Xiao Mei: [But this isn’t just any ordinary paper and brush. Its name is “Page of Fate.”]
Fu Yu: Page of Fate?
Xiao Mei: [Write a segment of the plot on it, and afterward, events will truly unfold according to what you’ve written. Hence, it’s called the Page of Fate.]
Fu Yu was ecstatic: So, you mean I can control the plot?
Xiao Mei: [Don’t celebrate too soon. It requires your blood as ink to write, and there’s only this one page. So, use it carefully. Xiao Mei suggests you avoid using it unless it’s absolutely necessary.]
Fu Yu quickly stored the spirit stones and the Page of Fate in her treasure pouch.
Though the pouch was only palm-sized, its capacity was at least that of a ten-square-meter room. This was one of the few assets her original self had left her.
After putting away her things, she rushed to the dressing mirror to freshen up and redo her makeup.
Xiao Mei was curious: [Fu Yu, you usually can’t be bothered with makeup. Why are you putting it on now?]
As she filled in her eyebrows, Fu Yu replied to Xiao Mei: Because I’ve decided to do something big.
Once she was ready, Fu Yu took out a brocade box from her treasure pouch.
She opened it and looked inside, a pair of large, white, bean sprout-shaped objects lay quietly within.
Xiao Mei: [Why are you taking out your Bluetooth earphones? These are the only things you brought with you when you crossed over. You usually guard them so preciously.]
Fu Yu didn’t answer. Clutching the brocade box, she left her room.
She arrived at the entrance of Xiangxue Garden, Qing Yao’s courtyard, hesitated for a moment, and finally stepped inside.
Based on her past understanding of Qing Yao, at this hour, she wouldn’t be handling official duties. She must have just woken from her afternoon rest and was likely practicing calligraphy in her study.
Qing Yao’s passion for studying calligraphy was well-known throughout the sect.
Arriving at the door of Qing Yao’s study, she peered through the open window and indeed saw Qing Yao inside practicing calligraphy. As far as she could see, Qing Yao was alone in the room.
Summoning her courage, she rushed straight in, charging directly up to the desk where Qing Yao was practicing calligraphy, and blurted out quickly: “Senior Sister, about what happened last night, I’ll take responsibility. Let’s become cultivation partners!”
Hearing this, Qing Yao, who had been deeply focused on her calligraphy, lifted her head and looked at Fu Yu with confusion, slowly saying: “What?”
