After Losing My Memory, I Suddenly Had A Fiancée - Chapter 40
Ji Fanghuai had never been this fierce before. Her eyes were red, her jaw tight, like a little lion with its fur bristling.
Jiang Zhi’s lips trembled slightly, and her eyes flickered.
She had wanted to do these things for a long time, the notion surfacing the day she fell in love with Ji Fanghuai. Now, provoked by Ji Fanghuai, the blood in her body immediately began to boil.
She lowered her head, wanting to take Ji Fanghuai’s lips and tongue, but was coldly avoided.
Jiang Zhi wasn’t angry at all. She simply pulled the quilt over their heads and moved downwards…
The surface of the quilt rose and fell rhythmically.
When Jiang Zhi reappeared, her lips were slick with glistening moisture. Ji Fanghuai was nestled perfectly in her arms, her face flushed, docilely accepting her intimacy.
Jiang Zhi kissed her, letting her taste herself.
Ji Fanghuai pursed her lips and turned her back, letting Jiang Zhi hold her.
The atmosphere on the bed was strangely calm, so calm that their hot bodies gradually cooled down.
Jiang Zhi even felt a little cold and reached out to tuck the quilt in tighter.
“Jiang Zhi, let’s break up,” Ji Fanghuai said flatly, her tone steady and devoid of any fluctuation, as if their recent intimacy had just been a dream.
Jiang Zhi’s voice trembled slightly as she said, “I disagree.”
She was usually eloquent, but now she was silent.
Ji Fanghuai relaxed her body, enjoying this last bit of warmth, and said, “There was no relationship between us to begin with. Breaking up is the best ending.”
Jiang Zhi tightened her grip around her, insisting, “There is! There is a relationship between us.”
“Then why didn’t you go all the way just now? What’s with the pretense? Didn’t you say before that we often argued because of our bedroom activities?” Ji Fanghuai suddenly became hysterical, trying to break free from Jiang Zhi’s embrace.
She found it ridiculous. Jiang Zhi had been fooling her with various excuses, and she had been naive enough to believe it.
The other woman said she was her fiancée, and she believed it.
Jiang Zhi held her tightly and said, “You are afraid of pain.”
“What does that have to do with you!” Ji Fanghuai demanded angrily.
Jiang Zhi said weakly, “I just want you to be happy.”
Ji Fanghuai sneered, “Happiness built on deceit?”
Jiang Zhi fell silent; she only ever went silent when she knew she was in the wrong.
A slight, mocking smile appeared on Ji Fanghuai’s lips. She asked, “You like me? You don’t want to break up?”
Jiang Zhi nodded, as if afraid Ji Fanghuai couldn’t see, and said, “I like you, and I don’t want to.”
“But I don’t like you. I am not your fiancée at all. I am straight. The thought of having been with you all this time makes me feel disgusted right now.”
As if to prove her point, Ji Fanghuai blurted out, “I felt disgusted even just now.”
Jiang Zhi’s face turned ashen, and her stomach clenched in pain.
Ji Fanghuai had her back to Jiang Zhi and didn’t see.
She was in a fit of rage and would say anything. She continued, “I trusted you, that’s why I believed you. But you’ve been lying to me all along, playing me for a fool. Is that fun?”
Jiang Zhi bit her lip and didn’t utter a sound, fine sweat breaking out on her forehead.
“I’m moving out right now.” Ji Fanghuai said as she tried to sit up, but the force of Jiang Zhi’s arm around her was painfully tight.
Unable to break free, she could only stay lying in that position. All her strength seemed to drain away, and sleepiness crept in. She slowly fell asleep in Jiang Zhi’s embrace.
If none of this had happened, they would probably still be swimming in the river of love.
When Ji Fanghuai woke up, she had completely forgotten what she had said. She only knew that she hadn’t been gay before, and everything started when Jiang Zhi claimed she was her fiancée.
She reached back and felt only emptiness.
Jiang Zhi was no longer in the bed.
Ji Fanghuai’s mind was full of: It was all fake. If Jiang Zhi hadn’t said she was her fiancée, none of the subsequent events would have happened between them.
Trust is the foundation. Without trust, even a towering skyscraper will crumble in an instant.
Ji Fanghuai sat up, looking at the messy sheets. Her legs felt a little sore. She went to the bathroom to wash off the stickiness.
Ji Fanghuai changed her clothes and came out.
Aunt Chu sighed, “Did you two quarrel again?”
Ji Fanghuai’s throat ached. She stayed silent, her face cold.
Aunt Chu didn’t mind her cold expression and said, “Miss Jiang’s complexion wasn’t very good today. She seems to be sick.”
Ji Fanghuai paused, then said, “How she is doing is none of my business anymore.”
Ji Fanghuai went to the bedroom. The messy sheets were too glaring. She changed the sheets and pulled out her suitcase.
The bed and the wardrobe held traces of their life together, but she couldn’t take anything with her because nothing was hers.
“What are you doing?” Jiang Zhi suddenly appeared, her voice sounding somewhat weak.
Ji Fanghuai paused slightly, turned around, and sneered, “Moving out, Miss Jiang. From now on, we have no relationship. Should I even thank you for taking care of me during this time?”
Jiang Zhi had given up on keeping her emotionally. She merely said, “Your body doesn’t allow you to live alone. If something happened, no one would find out.”
“What does that have to do with you? Who are you to me?” Ji Fanghuai mocked, “My fiancée? It was a lie.”
Jiang Zhi looked at her quietly.
Ji Fanghuai suddenly remembered something and said, “Please give me the receipts for my hospital fees. I will give you the money.”
Jiang Zhi suppressed her emotions and asked, “Where will you get the money?”
“That’s none of your concern,” Ji Fanghuai knew she still had property, “I will pay you back even if I have to sell my house.”
She ignored Jiang Zhi. Even if she had to live on the streets, she didn’t want to stay here. Every single thing here reminded her of how ridiculous she had been.
Ji Fanghuai turned to head for the living room.
Other things weren’t hers, but Xixi was certainly hers.
Jiang Zhi called out coldly behind her, “Ji Fanghuai!”
Ji Fanghuai stopped.
Jiang Zhi tried to persuade her, saying, “You have nothing right now. You are safest by my side. Please listen to me, okay?”
Ji Fanghuai instantly flared up and said, “Even if I have nothing, what does that have to do with you! Just because you have everything, you can lie to me? What else could you have lied about! You lied about my feelings! Do you think you’re a saint?”
As she screamed, a headache flared up, and she nearly lost her balance.
Jiang Zhi reached out, then retracted her hand, anxiously saying, “Fanghuai, calm down first. There are no problems that can’t be solved.”
Ji Fanghuai’s head was throbbing. She retorted sarcastically, “As long as you solve the person who raised the problem, right? What are you planning to do? Lock me in this house, watch over me every day? Or are you hoping I develop Stockholm Syndrome? I’m telling you, I’m not that pathetic!”
Jiang Zhi’s expression froze and she said, “Calm down. I don’t want to argue with you, and I won’t stop you from leaving.”
Ji Fanghuai endured the pain in her head and said, “I won’t argue with you if you’re not here.”
Jiang Zhi retreated a few steps and said, “Okay, I won’t argue with you. I’m worried about you leaving right now. You get car sick. Let’s buy the tickets first, and you can go back tomorrow.”
After Jiang Zhi finished speaking, she returned to the living room with a pale face.
Ji Fanghuai gradually calmed down, automatically ignoring Jiang Zhi. She went to ask Aunt Chu for the cat carrier and found an iron cage full of scratches.
Aunt Chu explained, “When Xixi first arrived, it ran everywhere. We were afraid it would run out, so we had to keep it locked up first.”
“If Jiang Zhi hadn’t forcefully brought it home, would it need to run around?” Ji Fanghuai was like an exploded pufferfish now, ready to burst at any moment. She was deeply disappointed in Jiang Zhi.
No wonder the cat didn’t like Jiang Zhi.
Ji Fanghuai finished packing, lay on the guest bedroom bed, but couldn’t fall asleep. She kept recounting the ways Jiang Zhi had deceived her and then began to worry about what she owed.
She didn’t know the exact amount of money in her account because it was linked to Jiang Zhi’s bank card.
All of it belonged to Jiang Zhi, and she would pay her back.
Ji Fanghuai got up as soon as dawn broke. It was past seven. Winter days were always short. Despite lying in bed for nearly twelve hours, the dark circles under her eyes were darker, like a thick layer of ink had been applied.
Ji Fanghuai finished washing up, dressed, and prepared to leave with Xixi.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw Jiang Zhi standing ramrod straight in the doorway.
Ji Fanghuai was startled and flinched back. Seeing it was Jiang Zhi, she said indifferently, “Miss Jiang.”
Jiang Zhi looked like she hadn’t slept all night. She was wearing the same clothes as yesterday, her face pale and bloodless, every strand of hair showing fatigue.
Jiang Zhi forced a smile and said, “One more thing. You don’t need to think about paying me back. I was the one who lied to you. Consider that compensation for your emotional distress. Please accept it.”
Ji Fanghuai didn’t want to owe her the favor. “I don’t need it.”
Jiang Zhi wanted to take her hand but only managed to catch the corner of her sleeve. She smiled bitterly, “Fanghuai, please, I’m begging you.”
Ji Fanghuai then recalled that Jiang Zhi seemed unwell. She softened for a moment but hardened her heart when she looked at Xixi. It could just be a ploy.
Emotional distress compensation, then.
Ji Fanghuai held Xixi and rode the elevator downstairs. As soon as she stepped out, she saw the assistant driving at the bottom of the building.
Ji Fanghuai didn’t want to see anyone connected to Jiang Zhi. The assistant was just a tool for monitoring her.
She wanted to go back.
The assistant quickly ran over and said, “Miss Ji, CEO Jiang said this will be the last time she sends you off.”
The words “the last time” pierced Ji Fanghuai’s heart like a needle. Her chest felt heavy, and her heart was faintly aching.
Ji Fanghuai nodded and got into the car.
The trunk was full of cat food.
The cat food Jiang Zhi gave Xixi was imported. Xixi was used to it, and now, seeing the cat food, it became cheerful, meowing in Ji Fanghuai’s arms.
The assistant said, “CEO Jiang said she won’t be keeping a cat anymore. Take these with you, otherwise, they’ll just be…”
Ji Fanghuai asked, “Just be what?”
The assistant said, “They’ll be trash.”
Ji Fanghuai’s hands trembled slightly as she held Xixi.
The assistant drove Ji Fanghuai to the high-speed rail station and accompanied her all the way. Ji Fanghuai returned to her home in City B in a daze, only to realize she didn’t even have a key.
Jiang Zhi seemed to have anticipated everything. The assistant produced a key and opened the door.
Ji Fanghuai thanked her, didn’t ask her to stay, and then stood staring at the empty house. Jiang Zhi wasn’t here…
Jiang Zhi looked at the empty room. Although only one person and one cat were missing, she felt as if she had lost everything in her life. The phone rang abruptly.
It was the assistant’s call.
Jiang Zhi’s throat was a little dry and hoarse. She asked, “Arrived?”
The assistant said, “CEO Jiang, everything is settled. Miss Ji looks very calm, but I’m worried she might do something, and she kept holding her head while in the car. It might be a headache.”
“Stay in a nearby hotel for now. I’ll arrange the rest.” Jiang Zhi found Lin Mianmian’s number, called her, gave her instructions, and then continued drinking her wine.
She had already asked Aunt Chu to take time off. The house was pitch black.
Not a single light was on.
As if she were all alone.
Jiang Zhi didn’t know how much she had drunk.
The doorbell and the phone rang constantly, but Jiang Zhi seemed not to hear them until a figure stood before her, backlit.
Jiang Zhi’s eyes lit up, and she called out, “Fanghuai?”
“Fanghuai what? It’s me,” Xin Ling said irritably.
Jiang Zhi started fumbling for her phone. Xin Ling dragged her up from the floor, saying as she pulled, “Did you crawl into a wine vat? Don’t you know how much your stomach can handle? All you remember is Ji Fanghuai. Now look what happened…”
Xin Ling hadn’t finished her sentence when Jiang Zhi flipped over and pressed her onto the carpet, her face inching closer…
Xin Ling pushed her away, protesting, “What the heck are you doing? We’re good friends. You don’t need to be so desperate.”
Jiang Zhi leaned in, sniffed, and said, “Is it disgusting to be with a woman? She said I was disgusting…”
Xin Ling, whose chest was being pressed, gasped, “Hey, why are you crying? You’re a domineering CEO, you’re not supposed to cry.”
“She’s not a straight woman at all. She’s never even been in a relationship. ‘Straight woman’ was just an excuse to reject same-sex pursuers. She was so passionate before, but she actually said that being with me was disgusting.”
Jiang Zhi finished speaking in a tone of distress, burying her head in Xin Ling’s shoulder, her own shoulders trembling slightly.
Xin Ling tried to push her away, but she didn’t move. She was at a loss, saying, “Hey, hey, why are you crying? I thought you were supposed to be a heartless CEO.”
