After Losing My Memory, I Suddenly Had A Fiancée - Chapter 37.2
“Mm.” Ji Fanghuai was now granting every request.
“Boss, Ms. Jiang is here.”
“Mm.” Ji Fanghuai gave the conditional reflex ‘mm’ then realized that Jiang Zhi was here. She looked up and saw Jiang Zhi smiling at her. Her heart immediately thumped.
The main reason she came to the coffee shop was that she wanted to go to and from work with Jiang Zhi and be more involved in her life.
Before, Jiang Zhi didn’t let Ji Fanghuai leave the house, but now, as if she knew what she was thinking, she indulged her.
Jiang Zhi said, “Fanghuai.”
Ji Fanghuai: “Let’s go home.”
Ji Fanghuai got into the car and suddenly felt an emptiness in her hand, saying, “I forgot to grab my book. I haven’t finished reading it today.”
“Which book? I’ll go get it for you.” She started to get out of the car.
Ji Fanghuai stopped her from getting out, saying, “I’ll go myself. There’s a pile of books there right now; you wouldn’t know which one it is.”
After the owner next door moved out, Ji Fanghuai set up a free book bar in the coffee shop. She hadn’t done it before for fear of competing with the neighboring owner, but now it was purely for the convenience of reading.
Ji Fanghuai went to the bookshelf to retrieve the book. As she passed the cashier, she saw a man paying with a QR code, and then heard the man add, “I didn’t expect to drink such pure coffee here. I almost thought I was back in B City.”
Ji Fanghuai took his comment as an exaggeration. Just as she was about to leave, she was called out.
“Boss lady?”
A voice suddenly rang out behind her. Ji Fanghuai stopped, turned her head to look around, then pointed to herself, asking blankly, “Are you calling me?”
She wasn’t wearing her uniform today and was dressed in fuzzy clothes. The reason she was there was mainly to read, drink milk tea, watch dramas, and wait for Jiang Zhi to go home together. She didn’t expect anyone to recognize her.
The man pushed up his glasses and smiled, “Your shop used to be in the Chenhe District. I was a regular customer. I didn’t expect you to open another branch here, and the taste is exactly the same. So the boss lady came along too.”
Ji Fanghuai was completely confused: “Chenhe District?”
The man said, “Chunjing Road, Chenhe District, B City.”
Ji Fanghuai was utterly bewildered: “Did you mistake me for someone else? I don’t know you.”
The man said very confidently, “I used to pursue you. I’d recognize you even if you were burnt to ashes.”
Ji Fanghuai: “…”
“No wonder you couldn’t catch me. Goodbye.”
Ji Fanghuai left these words and walked away, but the man’s words were still in her mind when she got back to the car. Could it be that she really had another branch somewhere else?
Jiang Zhi leaned over to fasten her seatbelt and touched her forehead, asking, “Why are you so distracted? You even forgot to fasten your seatbelt.”
Ji Fanghuai shook her head and said, “I’m fine.”
Ji Fanghuai recalled Lin Mianmian had mentioned this before. At the time, she didn’t take it seriously, but now she felt it couldn’t be such a coincidence.
She texted Lin Mianmian about the incident on WeChat.
Lin Mianmian replied quickly, “I told you before that I drank coffee with the same taste in B City last year.”
Ji Fanghuai remembered this and asked Lin Mianmian, replying, “I know, you forgot the shop name, but do you remember the address? Was it Chunjing Road, Chenhe District?”
Lin Mianmian thought for a moment and replied, “I remember it was near a subway station in Chenhe District. It should be the address you mentioned. I’m not familiar with that area. I was following the navigation at the time and forgot.”
Ji Fanghuai’s fingers flew as she replied, “This should be enough.”
Lin Mianmian worried, “Is something wrong?”
Ji Fanghuai pursed her lips and replied, “I’m not sure yet.”
Jiang Zhi saw that she had been looking at her phone since she got into the car, lowered her eyes, and asked, “Who are you chatting with?”
Ji Fanghuai slowly put away her phone and said, “I’m chatting with Mianmian. Xin Ling asked me to talk to Mianmian about the character illustration, so I mentioned it to her.”
Jiang Zhi suddenly smiled and said, “You don’t need to worry about that so much. Xin Ling is just doing it on a whim. Where can’t she find an artist? Miss Lin’s drawing skills are good, but she’s only an amateur artist. Xin Ling is just being playful.”
Ji Fanghuai focused her attention and asked, “Are you saying she has feelings for Mianmian?”
Jiang Zhi shook her head confidently, saying, “That’s not it. She’s a person who loves to play, but she never plays with feelings.”
“Oh.” Ji Fanghuai was still preoccupied with the coffee shop and wasn’t in high spirits. She was still absent-minded during their intimate time that night, although she was quickly aroused. But the things she didn’t know always felt like a thorn stuck in her heart.
Jiang Zhi hugged her and asked, “Something on your mind?”
Ji Fanghuai didn’t evade, saying, “Mm.”
Jiang Zhi was slightly startled, then held her lips again and said, “You’re not allowed to think about anything else now.”
“You’re so overbearing.” Ji Fanghuai responded to Jiang Zhi, lost in the moment.
However, things she hadn’t given much thought to before suddenly flooded her mind, making her start to worry about her relationship.
The weather was getting colder. Since returning from the coffee shop that day, Ji Fanghuai hadn’t wanted to move and stayed curled up at home every day. She chatted with Lin Mianmian on WeChat.
“I feel like Jiang Zhi is hiding something from me.”
Actually, there was no doubt about this, but she didn’t know how to investigate at first, and later she became unwilling to investigate.
Lin Mianmian was shocked, “Is she cheating?”
Ji Fanghuai: “…”
“No.” Ji Fanghuai shared with Lin Mianmian the treatment she received at the grandmother’s house and the incident at the coffee shop.
Lin Mianmian genuinely felt more and more that Ji Fanghuai was from a different world. The things Ji Fanghuai talked about were things she had never experienced.
She said, “Although people often say ‘ignorance is bliss,’ I still think people should live clearly. You can’t stay confused forever.”
Ji Fanghuai wanted to remain confused emotionally, but her reason made her want to know everything. She decided to start with Shen Jing. She had gotten Shen Jing’s contact information the last time they went to the grandmother’s house.
Ji Fanghuai called Shen Jing while Jiang Zhi was at work.
“Fanghuai?” Shen Jing’s tone was somewhat surprised; she seemed not to have expected her to call.
Ji Fanghuai said, “Cousin.”
Then she didn’t know what to say.
“Mm?” Shen Jing had calmed down.
Ji Fanghuai cleared her throat and said, “I have something I’d like to ask you.”
“Go ahead.” Shen Jing’s voice was as calm as ever.
Ji Fanghuai didn’t hide anything and asked directly, “Do you know about my relationship with Jiang Zhi?”
Shen Jing was silent for a long time. Just as Ji Fanghuai thought she wouldn’t answer, she heard Shen Jing say calmly, “Actually, you were straight before.”
“???” Ji Fanghuai froze on the spot.
Was she spaghetti before?
