After Little Sweet Omega Runs with the Ball - Chapter 55
Song Shuangtian was dragged by force to the entrance of the Omega obstetrics clinic. Her eyes were vacant, and her expression was one of utter despair. She had maintained this pseudopregnancy for so long that if this were an ancient palace drama, it would be enough to have her sent to the laundry department to scrub rags for a lifetime.
“Can we just forget it?” Song Shuangtian pleaded. “This prenatal checkup is not strictly necessary.”
Ji Mingxue, who had already taken a queue number, spoke with strong disapproval as they stood in the bustling corridor. “Prenatal checkups are vital. If the fetus has a genetic disease or if your body encounters an issue, it is better to find out early. Did you not do prenatal checkups when you were pregnant with Guanguan?”
As soon as Ji Mingxue said this, she fell into a brief silence. Guilt washed over her, and her fingers tightened, nearly crumpling the checkup slip into a paper ball. Her lover had been alone in a nursing home while pregnant with Guanguan, unable to go anywhere and focusing entirely on work. How could she have had the peace of mind to do comprehensive prenatal checkups? It was all because she, the Alpha, had been incompetent. She really deserved to die.
Song Shuangtian watched Ji Mingxue’s rapidly changing expressions and could not fathom what the woman was imagining. Tiantian wanted to run away. Tiantian did not want to get married anymore. In contrast to Song Shuangtian’s lack of expression, the Alpha, who was about to become a mother again, kept opening her phone to order various baby supplies. Song Shuangtian watched her piling things into the shopping cart. Her lips moved, but she eventually just covered her face with both hands.
“Wait until the checkup is finished before talking about that.” Maybe you will not want to be with me anymore, Song Shuangtian thought.
Ji Mingxue placed the orders with a single click. “These are essentials; they need to be bought in advance.”
Song Shuangtian remained silent, not daring to meet Ji Mingxue’s burning gaze. Outside the clinic, the fragile Omega looked dejectedly at the happy couples passing by. She placed a hand on her flat abdomen, feeling apprehensive and a bit guilty. Originally, because Ji Mingxue kept marking her repeatedly, Song Shuangtian had developed a pseudopregnancy. The Omega had felt some anger toward Ji Mingxue, but over time, she saw how Ji Mingxue restrained herself despite the dense Omega pheromones. Only when her emotions reached their peak would the Alpha carefully pierce her gland with her teeth. Ji Mingxue wanted to feed her three meals a day, carried her everywhere, and treated her like a porcelain doll.
“Mmm,” Song Shuangtian hummed softly. She was afraid to imagine Ji Mingxue’s face when she saw the medical report. Song Shuangtian admitted she had her own selfish motives; she had wanted to warn Ji Mingxue and stop her from always thinking about things in bed. She toyed with the pink diamond necklace hanging from her neck, clutching it tightly. She thought that even if Ji Mingxue got angry, she probably would not take back their token of love. If Ji Mingxue did get angry, Song Shuangtian decided she would never collaborate with M Group again. They would break up, and the group would be blacklisted.
Standing at the door waiting to enter the consulting room, Ji Mingxue let out a loud sneeze. Finally, the nurse called their number. Ji Mingxue took Song Shuangtian’s hand and walked in quickly. The Alpha thoughtfully pulled out a chair, inviting the expectant mother to sit down first. This was not a private hospital but one of the best public Omega obstetric hospitals in the capital. The corridor outside was packed with people. Song Shuangtian’s expression was subtle as she wiped the cold sweat from her palms onto Ji Mingxue’s trousers.
After writing a stack of checkup orders, the doctor waved Ji Mingxue out. “We need to do an ultrasound now. Family members, please wait outside.”
Ji Mingxue stood in the room awkwardly. She no longer had the composure of the M Group leader. “Doctor, do you need me to do anything else? Do you need me here to soothe the patient’s emotions?”
Song Shuangtian turned her face away, unwilling to look at her.
“I need you to go out now,” the doctor said.
Ji Mingxue pursed her lips. “But,” she wanted to say more, but a heartless curtain cut off her view. The doctor grumbled, “It is not her first child. Alphas these days are so impatient.”
The leader who commanded the industry stood there wordlessly. What if Tiantian gets nervous? Ji Mingxue took the payment slip with some hesitation and hurried to pay the fees.
Song Shuangtian lay on the bed in despair. She pulled up her shirt, letting the doctor smear the sticky liquid onto her flat belly.
“You are pregnant again?” Dr. Du had met Song Shuangtian a few times. To be precise, Dr. Du was one of the doctors who had delivered Guanguan. She was a bit incredulous to see Song Shuangtian and realized the situation when she saw Ji Mingxue accompanying her. Dr. Du had been a classmate of Madam Qiu and was essentially an elder to Song Shuangtian.
“I am not pregnant,” Song Shuangtian said.
Dr. Du opened Song Shuangtian’s previous medical records and saw the words “pseudopregnancy phenomenon” written clearly. She thought she had misread it and refreshed the page, but the text remained the same. “There really is a pseudopregnancy phenomenon. I always thought it was a legend with a tiny probability of occurring.”
Song Shuangtian covered her eyes in despair.
“Heavens, how long did your Alpha hold back to mark such a high concentration of pheromones into your gland?”
“Ji Mingxue does not know it is a pseudopregnancy,” Song Shuangtian whispered. “So, can you help me find a way?”
Dr. Du looked at Song Shuangtian with the conflicted expression of a gentle elder looking at a junior. “As a doctor, I cannot lie.” Her finger tapped the pink diamond necklace hanging from Song Shuangtian’s neck. Many people would not even buy a piece of rock candy that large. Ji Mingxue was good to Song Shuangtian, and her anxiety earlier did not seem faked.
“I can bribe you,” Song Shuangtian said.
Dr. Du laughed. “Doctors do not accept bribes.”
“My aunt just finished her surgery and is doing well. I can let you see her,” Song Shuangtian offered.
Dr. Du’s expression froze. Her hand holding the ultrasound probe suddenly tightened. Beauty does not fade with age; Dr. Du had a head of white hair, and though her skin was no longer young, she remained elegant. Beauty and grace endure in the river of time. She finished all the checkups in silence. “Fine,” Dr. Du said.
Ji Mingxue returned hurriedly after paying. She paced anxiously outside the blue curtain, more nervous than a first-time Alpha partner. She waited for what felt like a century, though it was likely only three minutes. The curtain was pulled back, and Song Shuangtian walked out, leaning weakly against Ji Mingxue. Out of the Alpha’s sight, the Omega winked frantically at Dr. Du.
Ji Mingxue asked urgently, “Doctor, how is Song Shuangtian’s body?”
Dr. Du smiled. “As you can see, there is no fetus in Song Shuangtian’s belly.”
“But I saw one, it is,” Ji Mingxue pointed to a moving area on the ultrasound image that looked like fetal movement.
Dr. Du’s smile was perfect. “That is the stomach. Your Omega wife has a very standard stomach. It is more beautiful than those in textbooks. It is the most perfect stomach I have seen in my medical career.”
Ji Mingxue went silent. Song Shuangtian’s heart was in her throat. She mouthed silently and frantically, Think of my aunt!
Dr. Du acted as if she had not seen Song Shuangtian’s plea. “I am unfortunately here to tell you that the child has been miscarried.”
Song Shuangtian: !!! Ji Mingxue: ?!
The family members waiting at the door, who had been impatient, suddenly stopped their complaints upon hearing this. Heavens, an Omega miscarriage? That was scandalous. How sad this young couple must be. The pregnant women and their families at the door cast reproachful looks at Ji Mingxue. It was all because this Alpha had not taken good care of her Omega. Omegas conceive easily and do not miscarry easily; this Alpha must not have been attentive. But looking at her shocked and lost expression, they hoped she would learn her lesson this time. Ji Mingxue’s expression at this moment was more terrifying than if she had heard her group had gone bankrupt.
Ji Mingxue looked at Song Shuangtian in disbelief, and Song Shuangtian looked back at her. Both saw utter confusion in the other’s eyes. Doctors do not see patients during the hospital’s lunch break. Song Shuangtian sat in the corridor, watching Ji Mingxue go back to find Dr. Du alone. She let out a sigh of despair. The beautiful Omega’s eyes lost their light, and she buried her face in her hands. She hoped Dr. Du would be reliable.
The hospital was never a happy place. The stinging scent of disinfectant filled the corridor. Song Shuangtian pressed her hand to her abdomen. At this moment, she wished there really was a child in her belly.
“It is impossible for Song Shuangtian to be pregnant in this life. You, as an Alpha, should be clear on this,” Dr. Du said to Ji Mingxue in the office. Ji Mingxue had almost never experienced a situation where another person sat while she stood to listen to a lecture.
“But you just said she miscarried,” Ji Mingxue said.
“I was teasing you,” Dr. Du replied.
Ji Mingxue looked at the wall full of honorary banners. “Thank you for your kindness. Please do not do it next time.”
Dr. Du spread out Song Shuangtian’s past medical records in front of Ji Mingxue, who immediately flipped through them. This was not something a doctor should show a family member, but given that Ji Mingxue was a shareholder of the hospital and M Group was involved in the medical industry, no one could stop her if she truly wanted to check. The Alpha studied every line of text. “Pseudopregnancy?” She knew the words individually, but together, she did not understand their meaning. After Dr. Du explained, Ji Mingxue’s expression became one of realization and complexity.
“It was because my pheromone concentration was too high and I marked her repeatedly that Song Shuangtian’s body produced a pseudopregnancy reaction.”
“Restraint is a virtue for an Alpha,” Dr. Du said.
Ji Mingxue’s clenched fingers slowly relaxed. If she said she was not disappointed, she would be lying. She was a bit angry that Song Shuangtian had lied to her, but what kind of mood was her Omega in when she used the pregnancy test? Considering Song Shuangtian had been throwing pillows at her lately, Ji Mingxue did not doubt that her Tiantian sincerely disliked her at times. Pregnancy is a walk through the gates of hell. Only someone who has been pregnant knows the pain of brushing past death. The birth of new life requires the old life to burn its flame.
Dr. Du observed Ji Mingxue’s expression and raised an eyebrow when she saw the disappointment. Refined egoists from big families like Ji Mingxue were often like this, wanting as many heirs as possible to pick the best, without considering the feelings of the Omega. The female doctor waited for Ji Mingxue to ask how to successfully conceive, but to her surprise, Ji Mingxue looked relieved. “That is great then.”
“What?” Dr. Du asked.
“One child is enough for Song Shuangtian and me. Giving birth is too hard on the body. I do not want Song Shuangtian to go through it again.”
Dr. Du was surprised for a few seconds. She remembered her beautiful Omega junior waiting silently to fade away in the nursing home in that small southwestern city.
The office door was pushed open. Song Shuangtian looked up, silently waiting for Ji Mingxue to get angry and argue with her. Ji Mingxue gripped the medical records. “Tiantian, I.”
Song Shuangtian spoke quickly. “I want to break up with you. Reborn will not consider collaborating with M Group. Give up on that!”
Ji Mingxue looked at the fierce Omega and gently took her into her arms. There were always people in the hospital corridor, so Ji Mingxue took Song Shuangtian to a quiet stairwell. The white walls were covered in countless prayers for safety. The Alpha, wearing a loose suit, had slightly messy hair. Her gaze toward Song Shuangtian was so gentle that Song Shuangtian almost thought Ji Mingxue had not learned about the pseudopregnancy, but thought they really were having another child.
“Stop acting crazy. I was just scaring you earlier. I will not cut off the collaboration with M Group. We are still family.” Ji Mingxue’s sudden tenderness made Song Shuangtian a bit afraid. The Alpha’s arms held the Omega’s shoulders tightly, and she pressed her soft lips against Song Shuangtian’s gland.
“We only have Guanguan, and she is great. Guanguan can inherit all our family property; there will be no other children to fight for it, and you do not need to lie on a cold delivery table again.”
The Omega’s soft body leaned into the Alpha’s arms. She trembled slightly and tried several times to struggle out of the embrace, but Ji Mingxue held her firmly. A soft kiss landed on the Omega’s forehead. If Ji Mingxue were angry, Song Shuangtian could be fierce, but Ji Mingxue’s gentleness left her at a loss.
“Alright, I am sorry. I should not have lied to you about being pregnant.” Song Shuangtian was awkward. “Let me go. If someone films the current President of M Group taking advantage of someone in a hospital, the PR department will threaten to resign again.”
A faint scent of orange blossoms drifted from the Omega’s gland. Ji Mingxue kissed the swollen area with restraint. Song Shuangtian’s gland was always lustrous and full. No matter how much she was bullied the night before, the wound would heal by morning, and it would be filled again with an inexhaustible supply of pheromone liquid. Unfortunately, she had to exercise restraint. Ji Mingxue’s arms were like iron, and Song Shuangtian could not push her away.
“You cannot mark me here,” Song Shuangtian said with a glare.
“Do not struggle. Let me kiss you once.” In the narrow stairwell, the Alpha cherished the Omega’s gland with a kiss while twirling the Omega’s long hair in her fingers.
“Do you really not want another child?”
“There is no need. Guanguan is fine.” Song Shuangtian looked awkward but stopped struggling.
“So, you finished renovating the small building?” Song Shuangtian looked at Ji Mingxue, who was acting like a showy peacock, driving her flashy red sports car to the front of the old Song residence.
“Time was limited, so I only renovated the small building where you used to live. The other two villas are still in the planning stages. Perhaps we can use them to display limited edition jewelry and watches from Reborn and M Group, or use them as wine cellars or for other purposes. In short, I will change these two buildings until no trace of the original remains.” Ji Mingxue looked down on the Song family. Of course, all of this depended on Song Shuangtian’s wishes.
“You already bought the old residence. It is up to your planning,” Song Shuangtian said.
Ji Mingxue thought Song Shuangtian was unhappy and immediately took out her phone to start the paperwork. “I will transfer the title to you. This place belongs to our Chairperson anyway.”
Song Shuangtian waved her hand, signaling there was no need. She smiled at Ji Mingxue’s display of wealth and found her a bit cute. Sunlight streamed through the tall trees onto the French windows, casting long shadows across the living and dining rooms. The Alpha held the Omega’s hand, having lost all the restraint and calm of a CEO.
“Look at this painting. It was the last work the artist completed before he died. You like collecting this type of art; I will keep an eye out internationally for you.” Ji Mingxue pointed to a large painting of blooming magnolias.
Song Shuangtian gave a half-smile. “Do you like it, or do I like it?”
Ji Mingxue smiled. “There are several magnolia trees planted in the courtyard. They will bloom next early spring. Before they bloom, the Chairperson can appreciate this one.”
Ji Mingxue took Song Shuangtian on a tour of the villa. Unsurprisingly, it was decorated according to Song Shuangtian’s preferences. All the artworks inside were sourced from around the world by Ji Mingxue to cater to Song Shuangtian’s taste. Anyone could see Ji Mingxue’s hard work during this time.
“The house needs to air out for six months. We can move in during the second half of the year.” Ji Mingxue pushed open the bedroom door. Inside was a bed larger than king size. “The mattress quality is excellent. The Chairperson can lie down to experience it.”
“How good is the quality?” Song Shuangtian asked with a half-smile.
Ji Mingxue rubbed her nose. “It will not collapse no matter what.” Then, Ji Mingxue pressed a button on the wall, and a mirror immediately popped out from the ceiling. “I specifically had a craftsman make this mechanism. The position is exactly facing the bed.”
Song Shuangtian was moved to angry laughter. “I am sleeping in the guest room.” She stepped on Ji Mingxue’s shoe.
“To show our deep affection, there is no second bedroom or guest room in the villa.” Ji Mingxue was not angry about being stepped on; she even wanted Song Shuangtian to step on her again.
Song Shuangtian was silent. Pervert. If Ji Mingxue had a tail, it would be wagging.
The only thing left to see was a small door at the end of the corridor. Song Shuangtian stopped Ji Mingxue, who was about to go downstairs. The Omega raised her chin proudly. “What is in this room?”
Ji Mingxue’s expression froze. “A storage room. It is not anywhere important.”
Song Shuangtian turned to open the door. Ji Mingxue ignored her image and ran forward to block the entrance. “It really is just a storage room. It is full of messy things and very dusty. It will make the Chairperson cough.”
“The Chairperson commands you to open the door now.” If it were just a small corner storage room, Song Shuangtian would not have asked. But what kind of storage room has a solid gold doorknob? Given the Alpha’s flashy style, it could not be anything ordinary.
Ji Mingxue pursed her lips. “Chairperson, it is getting late. It is time for dinner. I will cook for you.”
Song Shuangtian remained expressionless, feeling more and more suspicious. “The Chairperson is not hungry.”
Ji Mingxue sighed. Her Chairperson was perfect in every way, but she was too sharp; not a single clue escaped her eyes. Ji Mingxue rubbed her nose and used a key to open the last door. The dark room was lit up. It was full of things, but it was not a storage room. There were rabbit plushies on the storage cabinets, half-used erasers, a pleated skirt that was clearly a primary school uniform, a towel embroidered with a rabbit pattern, and a bookshelf full of fairy tales and business enlightenment courses. Everything was arranged perfectly. There was no dust. There was no dirt. It had been treated with care.
Song Shuangtian picked up a high school uniform. The shock on her face slowly receded as she looked back at Ji Mingxue. “Why do you have these things?”
Ji Mingxue no longer intended to keep it from her. “These are all the things you left behind in the small building. I collected everything related to you here. I felt your personal belongings should not be thrown into the recycling bin with the construction waste.”
In contrast, Ji Mingxue had thrown away everything else related to the Song family. The large room was filled with the traces of Song Shuangtian growing up. The Alpha took a high school uniform with an embroidered crest on the chest from Song Shuangtian’s hand. The uniform was draped over Song Shuangtian. Ji Mingxue hugged her high school Tiantian from behind.
“Our Chairperson has grown taller.”
Song Shuangtian was instantly flushed with embarrassment and anger. “Ji Mingxue!” She knew that all the touching moments were fake; this pervert’s head was full of nothing but yellow waste. “Why are my high school desk and chair here?!” There were even scratches on the desk that Song Shuangtian had carved with a ruler in her spare time. Song Shuangtian was furious. This chair could not have been in her house’s small building; Ji Mingxue must have gone to her high school to buy it.
Ji Mingxue pressed the uniformed Song Shuangtian onto the clean high school desk, parting her legs to put on black knee-high socks. “This is the desk and chair you sat at. I do not want anyone else sitting here.” Ji Mingxue, like an elegant and dignified lady, took the high school tie and tied a standard Windsor knot around Song Shuangtian’s neck. The Alpha tightened the tie, forcing the Omega’s neck forward.
“Mmm, you. You have gone too far.”
“Since Tiantian is not pregnant, can we do something other than biting your neck?” The Alpha pulled the tie, forcing the Omega closer. “I attended this academy for high school as well, though I skipped a grade. Perhaps you could call me Senior.”
