After I Transmigrated into the Novel, I made the Heroine Fall for Me - Chapter 47
The banquet was nearing its end. Gu Shengxiao leaned back in her chair, her expression unreadable as she stared at the empty seat beside her.
Her slender, jade-like fingers brushed across her phone screen, lighting it up to reveal the time, 9:30 PM.
Why isn’t she back yet?
Irritated, Gu Shengxiao glanced toward the entrance. The hall had only one exit, so Fang Qingying would inevitably appear there once she returned.
Yet nearly fifteen minutes had passed, and there was still no sign of her.
With a click of her tongue, Gu Shengxiao scrolled through her contacts, found Fang Qingying’s number, and pressed call.
A cheerful ringtone chimed from the empty chair beside her. She reached over and picked up the small purse left there. Opening it, she realized the careless Fang Qingying hadn’t even taken her phone with her.
Now worried that something might have happened to Fang Qingying, Gu Shengxiao grabbed the forgotten phone and went to find Xiao Lin and Gao Tian.
Without alerting the rest of the guests, the three quietly slipped out of the room.
Meanwhile, Fang Qingying felt dizzy, her ears buzzing with indistinct chatter.
“Why did you knock her out?”
The speaker sounded panicked.
“She was peeking around the corner, probably trying to call for help,” another voice replied, calm and composed, as if this were routine.
“Are you insane? She’s the eldest daughter of the Fang family! If we lay a finger on her, not only will our entire operation be wiped out, but none of us will make it out alive!”
“No one knows I took her. My men have already taken control of the hotel’s surveillance.”
“Besides, this is a masquerade, who’s to say she didn’t come willingly?”
The man glanced at the unconscious Fang Qingying, spinning lies effortlessly.
“She’s beautiful. No surprise, given how well-bred she is.”
“Holy shit, don’t tell me you’re actually thinking of, ” The other voice trembled, as if the mere suggestion made his legs weak.
“Let me remind you, the Fang family in H City is backed by the Fang family in Yanjing. If you dare touch her, they’ll dig up your ancestors eighteen generations, believe me?”
His words seemed to have some effect. The man scoffed. “You three, take her to Room One. What happens next depends on the boss.”
“Yes, sir,” three or four female voices answered in unison.
Fang Qingying could feel someone grab her arm, another supporting her as they dragged her along. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t open her eyes.
By the time Fang Qingying regained consciousness, she heard the muffled sobs of three or four girls nearby.
Rubbing her eyes, she sat up from the couch, her vision still blurred with lingering dizziness.
After a few moments, her mind cleared. She was in a lavishly decorated private room, complete with entertainment facilities.
A table laden with food stood in the center, and by the door sat a menacing man.
Noticing she was awake, he barked, “Eat if you’re hungry. Starve to death, and we’ll toss you into the ocean for the fish.”
Fang Qingying quickly scanned the room, her gaze flickering over the four girls college-aged, by the looks of it.
Her voice icy, she demanded, “Where is this?”
The man at the door didn’t even glance at her. His eyes, when they did land on her, were those of a merchant appraising goods.
Among the four girls, the slightly bolder short-haired girl gently tugged on Fang Qingying’s sleeve and whispered, “Sister, stop talking. He might hit people.”
“Hit people?” Fang Qingying glanced over suspiciously.
Before she could react, the girls pulled her into a huddle on the couch.
“Sister, are you a celebrity too?” asked a long-haired girl with envy in her eyes, her hair cascading down to her waist.
Fang Qingying nodded. “Mhm.”
Her affirmation prompted the other three girls to chime in.
“Sister, were you also betrayed by your agent?”
“I was tricked by a close friend.”
“I’ve been trapped here for two days already.”
All four girls were strikingly beautiful, the kind who would stand out anywhere.
Fang Qingying blinked and lowered her voice. “So, do any of you know where we are?”
She had no idea. After being suddenly knocked unconscious, she’d vaguely heard voices before waking up here.
“They say it’s a masquerade ball, but it’s really just a disguised trading ground. Most people come here willingly. Only a few are either forced or tricked into coming,” the short-haired girl explained, biting her lip nervously. “Like me, my agent forced me. I’ve been here for two days.”
“Trading what?”
“Anything, really. It depends on what you want.”
“Then, what are we doing here?”
Fang Qingying glanced around. The place resembled a holding area, though the conditions weren’t terrible.
“Rumor has it they’re planning to send us to someone higher up,” the long-haired girl muttered, her face pale as she chewed on her finger. “Beyond that, I don’t know.”
“Good food, good treatment, it’s like fattening pigs before slaughter.”
“That’s a creepy analogy.”
“But isn’t that exactly what’s happening to us?”
Fang Qingying rubbed her arms, a realization dawning on her.
There was a similar plot in the novel where the female lead’s brilliance attracted the attention of villains. Had she somehow stumbled into the female lead’s storyline by accident?
Then it hit her, why hadn’t System 888 warned her about being knocked out?
Was her system really this useless?
888: Pfft. Don’t slander me.
Fang Qingying raised an eyebrow. Oh, so you’re not playing dead anymore? What’s in it for you, sabotaging me like this?
888: I tried to warn you, but you instantly locked me in the blackout room. I just got out.
The electronic voice carried a hint of grievance.
Fang Qingying denied it outright. I didn’t. I was looking for my phone to send a message, why would I lock you up? I don’t even know how to do that.
888: It’s simple, just think about it.
The moment the words left its digital mouth, a glitchy tremor followed.
It had just exposed something.
Fang Qingying: I never did that. Are you trying to pin this on me?
She genuinely hadn’t done it. Then again, she had been panicking when she couldn’t find her phone. Maybe she hadn’t noticed the person behind her. But as for locking 888 away? No, she hadn’t.
888: Are you sure you didn’t?
888 was deeply suspicious. If it wasn’t Fang Qingying, its host, who had blocked it, then who else could have done so?
Fang Qingying shook her head: “888, how do I get out of here?”
Since neither side had any leads, there was no point in dwelling on it. The most important thing now was to leave this place she had no intention of being handed over to someone else as a gift.
888: “Qingqing, I’ll download the map to your phone right now no, wait, directly into your mind.”
However, it acted too quickly.
The phone in Gu Shengxiao’s hand had already received an image sent by a stranger, complete with Fang Qingying’s real-time location.
Fang Qingying herself also received the map and could clearly see where the guards were weakest.
She subtly shifted her position, signaling the other girls to move closer to her. “Do you want to get out of here?”
“I—” The long-haired girl nearly gasped aloud but was quickly muffled by another girl.
“Keep it down. If that guy hears us, we’ll all be in trouble.”
“Mhm, mhm, mhm.” The long-haired girl nodded vigorously to show she understood.
“Which one of you has the best stamina? I need your help to get a long, sturdy rope.”
“There’s nothing here even the cups are plastic.”
At this, the other three girls also lowered their heads.
Fang Qingying bit her lip and asked 888 with a troubled expression if there was any tool that could knock out their captors.
888: “There is. As long as you touch them, I can release an electric current to knock them out. But it can only be used once any more would be harmful to your body.”
“Find a way to block the surveillance. I have a small anti-assault device on me, but it can only be used once. So when the moment comes, we run for this spot.”
As she spoke, Fang Qingying dipped her finger in water and carefully traced a path on the table.
Perhaps because they were huddled together, the cameras failed to catch her subtle movements.
“Mhm, mhm, mhm, we got it.” The four girls clenched their fists and nodded firmly. “Sis, be careful and stay safe.”
Fang Qingying gave a slight nod. As she stood up to approach the man, she swallowed hard and asked 888 one more time if this plan was reliable.
888: “System-certified, guaranteed reliable.”
With trepidation in her heart, Fang Qingying walked up to the menacing man and said, “I want to speak to your supervisor.”
The man scoffed disdainfully. “Pfft, who the hell do you think you are? You want to see the supervisor?”
In his eyes, the five girls in the room were nothing more than “gifts” for some big shot. Otherwise, they would’ve already been dealt with, how dare one of them demand to see the supervisor?
“You can tell your supervisor that my surname is Fang, from the Fang family of Yanjing.” Fang Qingying subtly reached out to touch him while adopting the haughty demeanor of the original host to command his attention.
“HAHAHAHA, Yanjing? Do you even know how far we are from Yanjing? Some cargo you are, acting all high and mighty!” The man stood up from his chair, glaring down at Fang Qingying, who only reached his chest, and spoke with utter contempt.
“A piece of trash like you would never understand my noble status. Know your place and fetch your supervisor! Unless you want to bite off more than you can chew?”
Fang Qingying straightened her back, lifting her chin defiantly as she glared at the other person.
Clearly provoked by her boldness, the opponent raised a hand to strike her.
But Fang Qingying was quicker. She reached out and slapped the person’s shoulder then, inexplicably, a surge of electricity shot from her fingertips.
The current raced through the point of contact, flooding the other’s body before they even realized what was happening. Their entire frame trembled as if electrified.
In the end, they collapsed to the ground, appearing completely stunned.
“Get lost!” Fang Qingying shoved the door open.
