After I Married the Comatose CEO - Chapter 7
Xie Qiu thought his massage technique was wrong. He lifted his palms from the smooth skin and straightened his back. “You should do it. After all, I’m not a professional.”
Muscles like this were hard to build. Now that He Siyan was lying in bed, the process of muscle loss should be slowed down as much as possible. He shouldn’t mess around with it.
“Okay, I’ll do it!” Li Wei took over. “If you ever want to learn, just tell me anytime.”
Xie Qiu nodded. “Alright.”
“Of course, please don’t misunderstand. I’m definitely not trying to be lazy or do less work!” Li Wei suddenly thought of something and explained hurriedly. “I just think that since you are married to the Eldest Young Master, spending more time together will help build your feelings for each other.”
“I know,” Xie Qiu replied with a smile. “Don’t worry. After you leave, I will work on ‘building feelings’ with Mr. He.”
Li Wei nodded repeatedly. “Good, good, good…”
After the daily massage was finished, Li Wei left the room for a while.
Xie Qiu skillfully moved the chair to the bedside. His tone was like he was greeting an old friend: “Good evening, Mr. He. How was your day?”
When no response came, he answered for himself, “My day was quite exciting too.”
Xie Qiu told the story of meeting He Jingchen’s little fan in the cafeteria. By the end, he even amused himself. “When I used to read novels with scenes like that, I thought they were so fake. Would people really talk like that? I didn’t expect to run into it today.”
But when he thought about how the original Xie Qiu might have done many similar things, he couldn’t laugh anymore.
“By the way, I bought my books.” Xie Qiu stood up. “Wait a second, I’ll go get them.”
A moment later, he walked back to the bed holding a few books.
“Mr. He, let me read you a bedtime fairy tale,” Xie Qiu sat back in his chair and said softly. “I grew up in an orphanage. I had an older sister who loved to tell me bedtime stories. But…”
But that sister never got the happy ending from the fairy tales before the end of her life.
However, he still chose to believe in fairy tales. This world was realistic enough; he was willing to keep a small place in his heart filled with romance.
He believed the beast would be saved by the beauty, believed Sleeping Beauty would be woken by the true love’s kiss of a handsome prince, and believed the Little Mermaid’s ending wasn’t turning into sea foam, but becoming a holy and brave soul entering heaven.
Xie Qiu opened the first page of the fairy tale book and began to read softly.
“Far out in the ocean, where the water is as blue as the petals of the loveliest cornflower and as clear as the purest glass…”
Xie Qiu’s voice was clear and pleasant. He intentionally spoke softly, like a bubbling spring flowing through the room.
He wasn’t just reciting from a book; he used a very comfortable tone to tell the story of The Little Mermaid.
To the sound of the low, gentle storytelling, the man lying on the bed remained motionless, yet his expression seemed to unknowingly become peaceful and calm.
“…And so she, along with the other children of the air, mounted the rose-colored clouds and rose up into the sky.”
Xie Qiu stopped. “You see, the Little Mermaid went to heaven in the end.”
Even though the Little Mermaid threw the knife into the waves and sacrificed herself, she had already prepared for her body to turn into foam.
Just as Xie Qiu was about to finish reading the last paragraph, the door was pushed open from the outside.
“You—” He Jingchen saw him and couldn’t help but frown.
Xie Qiu held up the cover of the fairy tale book, proactively proving his innocence: “I wasn’t doing anything. I was just reading to Siyan-ge.”
He Jingchen looked closely at the book cover and was suddenly speechless. “You are reading fairy tales to my brother?”
“What’s wrong with fairy tales?” Xie Qiu smiled. “I recommend the Second Young Master read them too; it would be good for you.”
It would put more beautiful things in his heart, so he wouldn’t always think of him as being so dark.
He Jingchen: “…”
He suspected the other was insulting him, but he had no proof.
Xie Qiu changed the subject at the right time: “Second Young Master, do you need something from me?”
“Who is looking for you?” He Jingchen argued instinctively. “I came to see my brother.”
“Oh.” Xie Qiu made a gesture. “Then please, go ahead.”
He Jingchen pressed his lips together, but he didn’t move an inch.
Xie Qiu closed the book. “Do you need me to step out?”
“No need.” He Jingchen was a man of few words. He walked to the bedside with his long legs, his gaze falling on the face of the man on the bed.
Xie Qiu thought for a moment and decided to leave first.
Being in the same room as the Second Young Master was risky; the other would likely think he was playing some kind of scheme again.
But just as he stood up, He Jingchen took a step back. “What are you doing?”
Xie Qiu: “…”
He chose to answer with action. With a graceful turn, he drifted toward the door.
Later that evening, Su Wanrong returned.
Her usually elegant and calm face looked a bit tired. As soon as she walked in, she changed out of her high heels and headed for the sofa.
When Xie Qiu came downstairs, he saw her resting on the sofa and immediately lightened his steps.
He walked over and quietly picked up a thin blanket lying nearby.
Just as he draped the blanket over her, Su Wanrong woke up. “Xiao Qiu? When did you get back?”
“I’ve been back for a while.” Xie Qiu stepped back. “I took a shower and read to Siyan-ge for a bit.”
“You read to Siyan?” Su Wanrong perked up. “Tell me, what did you read?”
Xie Qiu replied seriously: “The Little Mermaid.”
“Really?” Su Wanrong acted surprised. “I thought you would read Sleeping Beauty to him.”
Xie Qiu played along and replied: “I’ll arrange that for next time.”
Su Wanrong covered her mouth and laughed. “Xiao Qiu is so cute.”
“Just average,” Xie Qiu replied modestly. “Third best in the city.”
Su Wanrong was filled with smiles. She pulled him by the hand to sit on the sofa and continued talking.
At the same time, He Jingchen stood at the corner of the stairs. Half of his face was under the light, while the other half was hidden in the shadows, making his expression unreadable.
“Second Young Master,” the nanny’s voice rang out. “Do you need anything?”
“No.” He Jingchen said only two words and walked toward the living room as if nothing had happened.
Su Wanrong finally noticed her younger son. “Jingchen, you’re back too.”
He Jingchen replied: “Yes.”
“Then let’s get ready for dinner,” Su Wanrong turned and ordered.
At the dinner table, He Jingchen asked, “Mother, did you go to the group headquarters today?”
Su Wanrong replied simply, “Yes, I went for a meeting.”
Her attitude clearly showed she didn’t want to talk much, but He Jingchen, uncharacteristically, pressed further: “Are there going to be more changes within the group?”
“We can still hold on for now.” Su Wanrong sighed softly. “Focus on your studies. You don’t need to worry about the group’s affairs.”
“I—” He Jingchen wanted to say something, but he forced himself to swallow it back. “I understand.”
Xie Qiu buried his head in his food, wanting no part in their conversation.
The knot between the mother and son had existed for a long time and was bound to explode eventually. The trigger would be He Jingchen wanting to join the He Group early, while Su Wanrong disagreed.
However, none of this had anything to do with him, and it wasn’t something he could control.
After dinner, Xie Qiu returned to his room and checked his phone.
Clicking into WeChat, he noticed a small red dot in his contacts. A stranger had requested to add him with the note: “Bai You.”
Xie Qiu didn’t know who it was, but he clicked “Accept” anyway. What if it was someone the original owner knew?
Soon, a message from the other person popped up.
Bai You: [You’ve got guts, daring to accept my friend request.]
Xie Qiu: [Who are you?]
Bai You: [What are you acting for?]
Xie Qiu: [I’m not acting. I really don’t know you.]
Bai You: [You actually dare to say you don’t know me?]
Bai You: [[Angry face][Angry face][Angry face]]
Looking at the angry emojis in the chat box, a messy face suddenly flashed through Xie Qiu’s mind.
This familiar tone… could it be…
Bai You: [You made me look like a huge fool in the cafeteria today, and you dare say you don’t know me!!!]
Xie Qiu: “…”
It really was that little fan of He Jingchen. He had actually chased him all the way to WeChat.
Xie Qiu: [Where did you get my WeChat?]
Bai You: [Hmph, there is nothing I, Bai You, cannot get.]
Xie Qiu: [Confident again, Master Bai.]
Perhaps because the title “Master Bai” worked, the other person didn’t get angry this time.
Bai You: [Was it true when you said today that you have no improper thoughts about Brother Chen?]
Xie Qiu: [Truer than pure gold.]
Bai You: [Then why did you get out of Brother Chen’s car?]
Xie Qiu: [Don’t you know that I am engaged to He Jingchen’s older brother?]
The engagement between the original Xie Qiu and He Siyan should not be a secret in their social circle.
Bai You: [Please, everyone knows the eldest He brother would never actually marry you!]
Xie Qiu: “…”
Bai You: [Besides, no one knows if the eldest He brother can even recover. I thought it was normal for you to switch your feelings to Brother Chen!]
Xie Qiu: [Your logic is sound, but unfortunately, you are completely wrong.]
Bai You: [What do you mean?]
Xie Qiu: [From beginning to end, I have loved only one person. No matter what he becomes, my heart will never change.]
Bai You: [!!!]
Bai You: [I’m sorry! My misunderstanding of you was too deep! I didn’t expect you to be such a loyal and devoted person!]
Xie Qiu smiled and said nothing. This was the charm of the art of language. Since He Siyan would not wake up for now, no one could stop him from talking nonsense. If he could use Master Bai to clear his name from this mess, that would be for the best.
Xie Qiu: [It’s not too late to know now.]
Bai You: [One more thing…]
Xie Qiu: [Go ahead.]
Bai You: [I want to apologize to you for my behavior in the cafeteria today.]
Xie Qiu: [Mm.]
He did not reply with “it’s okay,” because to both the original owner and himself, the word “bastard” was too much. They had no parents, but they were not “bastards.”
Xie Qiu exited WeChat, turned off his phone, and walked toward the sickroom next door. He pushed open the door and went into the bathroom to wash his hands carefully before preparing the towel and warm water.
As the saying goes, practice makes perfect. Xie Qiu was much faster at undressing the man this time. The massage oil had been mostly absorbed by the skin, but the scent of roses still lingered.
Xie Qiu seriously wiped the man’s upper body clean. After hesitating for a moment, he still took off the pajama pants. If he stayed far away from “that area” while wiping, it should be fine, right?
Fortunately, there were no accidents this time, and he finished cleaning the body smoothly.
Xie Qiu let out a quiet sigh of relief. He covered the man with the blanket and sat on the chair by the bed. “Mr. He, you don’t mind if I rest on your bed for a moment, do you?”
“I’ll rest for two minutes and then go back to my room.” He leaned against the edge of the bed and said softly, “Don’t worry, I’ve washed up.”
The sleeping man naturally did not refuse him.
Xie Qiu turned his head and stared at the large, resting hand for a while. He couldn’t help but pick up the hand. While admiring it, he sighed, “So beautiful.”
Actually, he had a “hand fetish” and had very high standards for beautiful hands; it was rare to find a pair that perfectly fit his taste. But the hand in front of him was long and straight with clear joints. The length from fingertip to base was amazing, and there was a small mole between the fingers of his middle hand, which added a sense of sexiness.
The only flaw was that the skin was too pale.
“Mr. He, when I have time, I’ll take you out to get some sun.” Xie Qiu placed the man’s hand against his cheek and yawned. “I’ll let you feel the sunlight, the rain, the birds, and the flowers…”
His voice became lighter and lighter until it disappeared into the air.
After a long while, the hand Xie Qiu was holding moved. This time, the movement was larger than ever before. The pale fingertips pressed against the soft cheek and slid down very slowly, as if trying to trace his outline.
In a state between dreaming and waking, Xie Qiu thought there was a mosquito on his face and slapped it away.
With a “slap” sound, He Siyan’s hand instantly fell back down.
