After I Married the Comatose CEO - Chapter 10
Xie Qiu looked uncertain. He reached out and covered the large hand on the wheelchair. “Husband, can you hear me talking?”
The hand under his palm stayed still and let him rub it without moving at all.
Xie Qiu kept testing him: “Husband, I’m going to put the flower back on you now.”
But He Siyan still had no reaction. It was as if the response from before was just another coincidence.
Xie Qiu breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good, that’s good…”
If his husband could really hear all his rambling, he would die of embarrassment. Moreover, he had said so many nonsense things; He Siyan would definitely settle the score with him once he woke up.
“I won’t tease you anymore, husband.” Xie Qiu withdrew his hand. “Let’s just enjoy the sun for a while.”
He took the flower from behind his ear and sat down on the spot. With his hands propped on the grass, he squinted his eyes to feel the sunlight, the breeze, and the scent of flowers in the yard.
After sitting for a while, Xie Qiu felt a bit sleepy. He moved his seat and leaned against the man’s leg to take a nap. Like a little kitten, he curled up lazily by his master’s legs to soak up the sun. It was a peaceful moment.
He Jingchen appeared silently on the porch. He watched the scene from a distance, thinking about who-knows-what.
Not long after, Xie Qiu was startled awake by a woman’s voice.
He followed the sound and saw someone wearing a vintage French-style hat walking gracefully toward him in high heels.
Xie Qiu used the grass to push himself up. “Who are you?”
“It’s me, Xiao Qiu.” He Jing took off her hat, revealing a beautiful and elegant face. “Little Auntie.”
“Oh, it’s Little Auntie.” Xie Qiu realized who she was. “Hello, Little Auntie.”
He Jing pretended to be disappointed. “It seems I need to come to the old house more often, or else Xiao Qiu won’t even recognize me.”
“It’s because Little Auntie was wearing a hat; I was just being slow.” Xie Qiu gave a sweet smile. “Little Auntie is so beautiful, how could I not recognize you?”
“Oh, Xiao Qiu, your mouth is so sweet.” He Jing laughed, covering her mouth. “No wonder my sister-in-law likes you so much.”
Xie Qiu blinked. “Not at all, I’m just telling the truth.”
“Alright, I believe you.” He Jing shifted her gaze to the wheelchair behind him and asked with concern, “How has Siyan been lately?”
“The same as usual,” Xie Qiu replied. “I saw the weather was nice today, so I pushed Siyan-ge out for some sun.”
“Sigh…” He Jing let out a sigh. “Poor child. I wonder when he will finally wake up.”
Xie Qiu replied softly, “I believe it will be soon.”
He Jing’s expression became thoughtful. “Let’s hope so. I think some people are starting to get restless.”
Xie Qiu had no intention of getting involved in rich family drama, so he didn’t say anything.
He Jing suddenly changed the subject. “By the way, Xiao Qiu, aren’t you curious about where your father-in-law—Siyan’s biological father—went?”
Xie Qiu acted like he knew nothing and shook his head. “I don’t know.”
“Siyan’s father was kicked out of the family by the Old Master a long time ago. My sister-in-law worked so hard to raise Siyan, and he finally took control of the He Group, only to end up lying here, letting others take the reward.” He Jing said meaningfully, “If you were my sister-in-law, would you be willing to accept that?”
Xie Qiu lowered his eyes and gave an indirect answer: “Mom has had a very hard time.”
“I’ve said too much.” He Jing stopped herself just in time. “Xiao Qiu, do you know where your mom went?”
Xie Qiu continued, “I’m not sure, Little Auntie. Why don’t you give her a call and ask?”
He Jing didn’t suspect anything. “Okay, then I’ll be going now.”
Xie Qiu replied politely, “Goodbye, Little Auntie.”
He Jing turned to leave, but after a few steps, she looked back. “Xiao Qiu, Little Auntie wants to give you a word of advice: do not trust anyone in the He family.”
Xie Qiu looked a bit confused. “Little Auntie, do you mean…?”
“You will find out slowly.” He Jing left behind that vague sentence and departed.
Xie Qiu stood where he was, thinking about her true intention. The internal struggles of the He family were indeed fierce, but he was currently at the old estate, and he only interacted with a few people.
So, did He Jing mean he should watch out for He Jingchen?
Xie Qiu frowned. Did He Jing suspect that He Jingchen was behind the car accident?
Xie Qiu looked at the man in the wheelchair and asked softly, “Husband, do you know who caused your accident?”
The man, with his eyes tightly closed, naturally did not answer.
In the original book, the truth behind He Siyan’s accident was never mentioned. The only thing Xie Qiu was sure of was that it wasn’t He Jingchen’s doing.
But if this accident wasn’t a mistake, if it was murder, then the real killer was likely hidden within the He family.
Thinking of this, Xie Qiu felt a chill run down his spine.
After a moment, he leaned down slightly and brushed a petal off the man’s shoulder. “The sun is getting stronger. Husband, let’s go back inside.”
He went behind the wheelchair and pushed the man across the grass and back into the house.
The caregiver was dozing off on a chair in the hallway. Hearing the noise, he immediately stood up. “Eldest Young Madam, you’re back.”
“He was out for half an hour today.” Xie Qiu glanced at the clock on the wall. “Next time we can go out earlier and stay a bit longer.”
The caregiver carried He Siyan back to the bed for daily care.
Xie Qiu sat on the edge of the bed to observe, then copied the caregiver’s movements to turn the man over, gently patting his back and hips with his hand.
“Eldest Young Madam, your technique is very accurate,” the caregiver complimented. “If this keeps up, I’ll be out of a job soon.”
“It’s okay, really,” Xie Qiu replied modestly. “You are still the professional one.”
As lunch time approached, Xie Qiu went downstairs to eat.
Su Wanrong was already back. Her face didn’t look very good, but she smiled when she saw him. “Xiao Qiu, how was the sun today?”
Xie Qiu smiled back. “I was afraid of sunburn, so I pushed my husband back to the room after a short while.”
Su Wanrong praised him, “Xiao Qiu did the right thing. You have to take it slow, step by step.”
“By the way, Mom, Little Auntie came to the house today.” Xie Qiu asked casually, “Did she contact you later?”
“Yes, she called me.” Su Wanrong paused. “Xiao Qiu, she didn’t say anything to you, did she?”
Xie Qiu kept a straight face. “No, we just chatted a little.”
“Good, I see.” Su Wanrong smiled. “Your Little Auntie is a good person, and she truly cares for Siyan.”
Xie Qiu understood. These two women—the mother and the aunt—were likely on the same side.
He replied with a smile, “Mm-hmm, I like Little Auntie too.”
“By the way, where is Jingchen?” Su Wanrong suddenly remembered her younger son. “Xiao Qiu, have you seen Jingchen?”
Xie Qiu shook his head. “No, I haven’t seen Xiao Chen at all today.”
“Never mind, let him be.” Su Wanrong didn’t ask further and called out, “Uncle Lin, we can get lunch ready.”
Uncle Lin replied, “Yes, Madam.”
Time flew by. In the blink of an eye, it had been a full month since Xie Qiu arrived at the He family home.
He was a fast learner and wasn’t afraid of hard work. He became more and more skilled at taking care of his “husband,” and the time he spent with him grew longer every day.
During this month, there was no news from the Xie family. No one contacted him, as if this adopted son had already fulfilled his only value.
If the original owner were still here, he might have been a bit sad, but Xie Qiu felt nothing. The current situation was exactly what he wanted. It was best if the Xie family never looked for him again; nothing good ever came from them.
Xie Qiu occasionally missed the people from his own world, like his friends from the orphanage, but for some reason, the longer he stayed in this world, the more blurry his old memories became. It felt as if his previous life was just a long dream, and this was the real life.
“The human brain is quite amazing,” Xie Qiu muttered softly as he sat by the bed. “If I couldn’t still remember law terms so easily, I’d think I was getting amnesia.”
He stopped worrying about what he couldn’t understand and picked up the fairy tale book from the nightstand. “Let’s see what story we should read today.”
Xie Qiu turned to the bookmarked page and smiled. “Finally, the story I’ve been looking forward to the most.”
He adjusted his seat and began to read softly, “Once upon a time, there was a King and Queen who had been married for a long time, but they had no children.”
The moonlight was like silver, and the man sleeping on the bed looked peaceful.
Xie Qiu glanced at the man and continued reading, “…The prince climbed to the room at the very top. When he opened the door, he saw the sleeping princess. She was so beautiful that the prince stared at her without even blinking. As he watched, he couldn’t help but kiss the princess. At that very moment, the princess miraculously woke up.”
Reading to this point, he stopped and leaned closer to the bed, asking with a grin, “Husband, if I kiss you, will you wake up?”
The large hand resting at the man’s side moved slightly.
Xie Qiu was staring intently at the man’s face and didn’t notice the small movement.
Even though he wasn’t a prince and He Siyan wasn’t a princess, what if? What if the miracles from fairy tales really happened?
His warm breath got closer and closer, carrying the fresh scent of pomegranate body wash. Because of his nerves, his breathing was a bit unsteady as it brushed against the man’s face.
He Siyan’s hand on the bed suddenly gripped the sheet, pulling so hard the fabric twisted out of shape.
Fortunately, Xie Qiu straightened up and muttered to himself, “Forget it. I shouldn’t take advantage of my husband while he’s like this.”
He looked down and happened to see the movement of the man’s hand. He was stunned for a moment.
In all this time, it was the first time he had seen his husband in a coma make such a big movement.
Logically speaking, he hadn’t really done anything just now.
Wait, could a kiss be a form of stimulation for He Siyan?
Xie Qiu felt a surge of excitement. He leaned down again and gave the handsome, thin face a loud “muah” kiss.
His soft, full lips landed on the cheek, leaving a faint damp mark. The man’s thick, dark eyelashes began to tremble, and the rising and falling of his chest became more obvious.
Noticing these changes, Xie Qiu was happy. He teased him on purpose: “You are my husband, what’s wrong with me giving you a kiss!”
After saying that, his own face turned red from his own boldness.
But in the next second, Xie Qiu discovered with surprise that the spot he had just kissed had turned red.
That red color was very easy to see on the man’s pale skin. It spread to the base of his ear at a speed visible to the eye, turning the whole area bright red.
Xie Qiu opened his round eyes wide and even started to stutter: “Hu—Husband, are you okay?”
