- Chapter 104 - Extra Chapter 2: Post-Wedding Daily Life (Part 1)
Recently, an auction house in Zhaomu City acquired a piece of spiritual jade with the purest spiritual energy and announced it would be publicly auctioned.
After receiving the news, Qiu Fuxue thought it over for a long time and decided to go to Zhaomu City to get the jade.
With his current cultivation, he was undoubtedly the top cultivator in the immortal sects, but precisely because he had reached the peak, he had not been able to break through for a long time.
Perhaps a pure spiritual body needed some external aid.
Something seemed to be going on in the demon realm, and Jiufang Cangze appeared to be very busy. So, Qiu Fuxue didn’t disturb him and took Xu Wan with him instead.
When they arrived in Zhaomu City, Xu Wan noticed the gazes of the people around them on the street. “Sect Leader, isn’t this too conspicuous?”
Qiu Fuxue’s appearance was very striking. Since they weren’t hiding their identities, others could surely guess who he was and that he was there for the jade.
“I want it to be conspicuous,” Qiu Fuxue said calmly. “When they know I’m here and don’t want to offend the Qianshan Sect, they’ll be more reserved when bidding later.”
Xu Wan understood. It seemed the Sect Leader was determined to get this jade.
By custom, the auction house strictly kept the identities of the bidders confidential. Upon entering, they were greeted by a dedicated attendant.
The building had three floors. Each bidder had a private room. The three walls were solid, and the front was covered by layers of silk curtains.
To bid, one had to ring a bell placed in the center of the room.
The jade was the final item to be auctioned. There were some less valuable trinkets before it, and the bell in Qiu Fuxue’s room hadn’t rung once.
That is, until the jade was presented before him through an illusion.
“Xu Wan, no matter who bids, you follow them immediately and ring the bell.”
“Leave it to me!”
Qiu Fuxue had not hidden his identity when he arrived, and this action was like an open declaration of his intentions. After about four or five rounds of bidding, most of the other bidders knew who was in that room.
Most immortal sects didn’t want to offend the Qianshan Sect over a piece of jade. Xu Wan could clearly feel the competition thinning out.
When the price reached 100,000 spirit stones, his hand was numb from ringing. “Sect Leader, isn’t that enough… how is there still someone daring to raise the price!”
A cold glint flashed in Qiu Fuxue’s eyes. “The bell is coming from the room across from us.”
The group in that room had arrived late, showing up long after the auction had started. They hadn’t even looked at the previous items, making it clear their goal was only the jade.
He had expected to run into a few people who weren’t afraid of death, but he didn’t expect the people across from him to be so arrogant. Now, only the two of them were left, constantly outbidding each other.
The other people watched the show with relish, wanting to know who was bold enough to compete with the person from the Qianshan Sect.
They outbid each other for thirty rounds. The price soared to a million spirit stones, far exceeding the value of the jade.
This was clearly no longer a bid for an item; it was a competition between two forces.
Crack. A crisp sound rang out. A crack appeared on the teacup in Qiu Fuxue’s hand.
Xu Wan’s hand was numb from holding the mallet. He was also furious. “Which fool is this! I’ll beat them up after we leave!”
Things had come to this point. The auction house, afraid of offending either side, brought out a long-standing rule: the two bidders must meet face-to-face to negotiate.
Perhaps one side would back down after finding out the other’s identity. Or perhaps they were rivals who would fight to the death. The auction house only cared about selling the item and wanted no part in personal grudges.
The attendant led them to a room with a curtain hanging in the middle and slowly unveiled it.
“Gentlemen, please.”
Qiu Fuxue froze, his eyes widening slightly. The other person was also a little surprised, a look of astonishment on his face.
“I don’t want the item anymore. I’ll give it to this gentleman,” Qiu Fuxue said magnanimously.
Xu Wan wanted to cry. “All that effort for nothing…”
Seeing him give in so readily, the attendant quickly left to make preparations, secretly wondering which sect or faction could make the Qianshan Sect show such a gesture.
Outside the auction house, Qiu Fuxue played with the jade he had acquired. His lips curled into a slight smile. “I got this treasure without spending a single cent.”
Jiufang Cangze, looking exhausted, was beside him. He sighed and rubbed his forehead. “If I had known it was you, I wouldn’t have fought you for it. Lun Ling’s hand is numb from ringing the bell.”
“That won’t do!” Qiu Fuxue said proudly. “How can something I buy myself be as precious as something you give me?”
On the other side, Xu Wan held out his hands to Lun Ling. His skin was fair and delicate, and it was now a faint red.
“Boohoo… my palms are all red!”
“Heh… so are mine.” Lun Ling was very unhappy with what those two had done today.
He took Xu Wan’s hands into his and gently blew on them a few times. “They won’t be red if I blow on them!”
Xu Wan’s palms tickled, and he giggled. “Since we’re finally in Zhaomu City, let’s go have some fun.”
Lun Ling put his arm around Xu Wan’s shoulder, creating a safe barrier from the crowds. “Zhaomu City is by the sea. Shall I take you to the beach, Wanwan?”
“Okay!”
Qiu Fuxue overheard the conversation of the two behind him. He suddenly remembered the sweet cakes he never got a hundred years ago.
His heart ached. He looked up at the person next to him and quietly held one of his fingers.
Jiufang Cangze turned his hand over, held it in his palm, and played with his fingertips. He gently scratched his palm. “Are you sad, A-Xue?”
In front of him, Qiu Fuxue never hid his emotions. He nodded. “I want some sweet cakes.”
Jiufang Cangze hadn’t forgotten, but at the time, it was just a lie to keep Qiu Fuxue from being sad. He never thought it would become a thorn in their hearts for a hundred years.
To make up for the regret, Jiufang Cangze bought a huge bag of sweet cakes, emptying the pastry shop’s entire stock.
The two sat on a rock by the sea as the soft sunset shone on them.
The sweet cakes weren’t that good anymore. Qiu Fuxue felt a little sick after eating two. He simply put the half-eaten one into Jiufang Cangze’s mouth.
Jiufang Cangze savored the lingering sweetness on his lips. “It’s too sweet. Let’s take it back for Black Ball.”
“He’s only allowed to eat vegetables now,” Qiu Fuxue laughed. He leaned into his embrace and found a comfortable position to rest.
On the beach not far away, Xu Wan had rolled up his pants and was squatting on the sand with his bare feet, catching crabs.
Lun Ling looked at him dotingly. No matter what he caught, he would enthusiastically praise him.
“This is so good…” Qiu Fuxue half-closed his eyes, his breathing lazy.
Jiufang Cangze was confused. “What’s so good?”
Qiu Fuxue let out a satisfied sigh. He got up and kissed those familiar lips.
The sun set, casting their long shadows on the sand.
“I said, it’s so good to have you here.”
