- Chapter 100 - The Demon Realm as Dowry
Initially, the joy of their reunion left them with too much to say, and the first few days were spent in intimacy. Now, they finally had a moment to pause and take a good, long look at each other.
Jiufang Cangze hadn’t changed much; he had simply returned to his appearance from before he lost his cultivation. Qiu Fuxue , on the other hand, had changed a great deal.
Jiufang Cangze’s fingertip lifted a lock of white hair. “A-Xue, I’ve been wanting to ask. Is this the result of your cultivation?”
“Probably,” Qiu Fuxue gave an ambiguous answer. He, however, thought it was due to his century of longing.
He conjured a dagger in his palm and cut a lock of both their hair. After mixing them, he placed them into a pouch.
Jiufang Cangze hugged him from behind, his hands reaching into his clothes. He asked, knowing the answer, “What are you doing, A-Xue?”
Qiu Fuxue felt for him after a century apart and was willing to forgive all his naughty behavior. He didn’t mind and simply answered, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Jiufang Cangze felt as if a little cub was scratching his heart. He leaned down and rubbed his face against Qiu Fuxue’s neck. He sighed. “A-Xue… how can I possibly love you enough?”
These intimate words fell on Qiu Fuxue’s ears. He could always give the right answer. “Then promise me you won’t ever leave again.”
Jiufang Cangze didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He just found his A-Xue to be so endearing. He hugged and kissed him for a long time before finally getting up.
He opened the door and stretched into the sunlight, stepping out without looking down. He almost tripped and fell flat on his face.
“…What is that!”
He turned around angrily and saw a giant ball of white fur curled up by the door.
The ball of fur moved after hearing his voice. It opened a pair of light blue eyes, perked up its ears, and then swung out a tail, staring at him blankly.
“Awoo…?”
Jiufang Cangze crossed his arms, his expression serious as he sized it up. “Where did this fat dog come from?”
He was more concerned about why a fat dog was sleeping at A-Xue’s door. What if it tripped him one day?
Qiu Fuxue heard the commotion. He nonchalantly put on his clothes and walked out. “Huh? Black Ball , why are you sleeping here?”
Black Ball’s eyes looked a little innocent.
“AWOOOOO—!”
Don’t you know why I’m sleeping here? Why didn’t you open the door for three days and three nights?
Qiu Fuxue slapped his forehead. He had been too dazed from sleep. Black Ball’s bed was right next to his, but they had been doing things that weren’t suitable for children…
Jiufang Cangze rubbed his eyes, a little disbelieving. “That’s Black Ball?”
He spread his arms to measure it. “I thought Black Ball was only as big as my hand. A-Xue, how did you feed him until he’s so fat?”
Qiu Fuxue held Black Ball’s paw. He felt like it had gotten fatter again. “Sigh… I’ve already strictly limited his food, but…”
“I fed him!” Xu Wan appeared out of nowhere, proudly seeking praise.
“My Lord, you haven’t left the house for a few days, so you wouldn’t know! Black Ball ate two more bowls of rice than usual yesterday!”
Qiu Fuxue shrugged and continued his sentence from before. “…But I couldn’t stop someone from feeding him.”
This was the first time Jiufang Cangze had seen Xu Wan since he returned. Only Lun Ling knew about his return, and he had eagerly run to see Qiu Fuxue.
The timid boy from before had grown taller. He was less shy, and his soft features had sharpened, his face becoming more defined.
Jiufang Cangze looked him over, keenly sensing an unusual aura. “Xu Wan, you cultivated the Dao?”
Xu Wan rubbed Black Ball’s tail, his smile bright. “Yes! Elder Li Yun encouraged me!”
“Why didn’t you cultivate the demonic way?” Jiufang Cangze raised an eyebrow. “You could have been with your Lun Ling. There are a lot of vacant positions for the Shadow Guard.”
Xu Wan pouted. “I went to the demon realm to see it. The air is too gloomy; it doesn’t suit me.”
“He even compared the two…”
Qiu Fuxue put his hand over his mouth to hide a laugh. “See? My Qianshan Sect is more popular than your Azure Sea Palace.”
Hearing that, Jiufang Cangze was instantly unhappy. His rebuttal, however, was a little insincere. “That’s because when you went there before… anyway, it’s a lot better now than you think!”
With that, he didn’t even bother to ask for his consent. He carried Qiu Fuxue into his arms in a domineering, bandit-like way and kidnapped him to the demon realm.
The two disappeared in a flash of red light. Black Ball was so anxious it started running in circles. His master was gone again!
Xu Wan meaningfully patted its head. “Sigh, My Lord and Sect Leader are the true lovers.”
As for Black Ball, it was just a happy accident.
Jiufang Cangze carried Qiu Fuxue the entire way, only putting him down by the Flowing Light River.
Qiu Fuxue touched his reddened, hot cheeks and chastised him. “You’re not allowed to carry me so suddenly again!”
Jiufang Cangze raised his hands in surrender. “Okay, okay! I won’t dare to next time.”
With the Nine Fiends exterminated, the Flowing Light River had lost its former dazzling brilliance. Without the stars in the water, it looked like a normal river.
Qiu Fuxue scooped up a handful of water and then let it fall through his fingers. “Compared to before, the Azure Sea Palace is much quieter.”
The most obvious difference was that there were no guards or maids going back and forth on the paths.
Jiufang Cangze patted his pocket. He didn’t have a handkerchief, so he used his sleeve to wipe Qiu Fuxue’s hands dry. His eyes were full of a smile. “It’s fine. It has waited for the most important person. That person likes peace and quiet, so it’s good for it to be a little calmer.”
In front of them was Jiufang Cangze’s bedchamber. Qiu Fuxue, for convenience, simply climbed in through the half-open window.
It had been so many years since he had done something like this that his movements were a little clumsy.
Jiufang Cangze followed him in, teasingly. “Is this how A-Xue used to climb in through windows?”
Qiu Fuxue’s cheeks were flushed. “I never climbed into your bedchamber before!”
The rebuilt bedchamber hadn’t changed much. It was still just a table, a desk, and a bed. The only difference was that the desk was no longer piled high with paperwork.
Qiu Fuxue looked at all the empty corners, thinking that if he lived here, he would fill them all up, especially since Black Ball had so many beloved toys.
Seeing him staring, Jiufang Cangze pulled his hand. “A-Xue?”
Qiu Fuxue gave a soft smile. “It’s nothing. I was just thinking about how to make this bedchamber useful to me.”
“Let alone one bedchamber,” Jiufang Cangze raised his hand and caressed the hair by his temples. “How about I offer the entire demon realm as a dowry to marry the Immortal Lord?”
“Then I will offer the Qianshan Sect as my dowry.” Qiu Fuxue’s imposing manner didn’t lose in the slightest.
Jiufang Cangze laughed and started acting shamelessly. “A-Xue, let’s take turns. I’ll be your Sect Leader’s wife, and you can be my Demon Queen.”
“Of course, we’ll get married.” Qiu Fuxue moved closer, but kept a teasing distance. “But for something this important, you have to go with me to invite the Primordial God back so he can be our witness.”
