- Chapter 4 - There is a Punishment for Naughty Children
If it were anyone else, their heart would likely be pounding with terror, but the person being targeted was none other than Bai Qingxu.
Although Bai Qingxu was considered a lowlife and a scoundrel in the world of ghost hunting, a scene like this failed to frighten him. On the contrary, it made him curve his lips into a smile.
“You want to see me streak, is that it?”
“Giggle.”
Another burst of ear-piercing laughter rang out, sounding like the screech of metal grinding against metal.
Bai Qingxu completely ignored the warning from the telephone. He unhurriedly put on his suit jacket, which had been tossed aside, and walked out of the guest room.
The moment he opened the door, the lights in the hallway began to flicker violently. It looked like a bad connection, flashing on and off in a way that made one’s eyes ache.
“Giggle.”
The spine-chilling laughter echoed through the empty corridor.
Bai Qingxu remained completely unperturbed as he stepped out of the room.
With a loud pop, the lights died completely. The entire hallway was plunged into darkness, and the laughter became even more unrestrained, sounding as if it were coming from right next to Bai Qingxu’s ear.
The sound of dripping water, coming from an unknown source, resonated through the hallway.
Drip. Drip. Drip.
It did not sound like ordinary water. It was the sound that only a viscous liquid makes as it moves across the floor.
Bai Qingxu immediately thought of thick blood. As if to confirm his suspicion, the faint, lingering scent of iron and blood wafted through the air.
The piercing giggles shifted into a long, drawn-out wail that bored into Bai Qingxu’s ears. It felt as though countless fine, long strands of hair were coiling around him.
“Streak?”
Bai Qingxu chuckled. He fastened the last button of his suit and slowly raised his eyes to look at his surroundings. His pupils shimmered in the darkness like stars in the night sky.
He actually quite wanted to see someone streaking, but the protagonist should not be him.
Bai Qingxu twisted his wrists to loosen his joints and expanded his spiritual consciousness.
In an instant, a red mist expanded, surrounding the entire hotel.
The restroom?
That truly was a favorite haunt for evil spirits.
Bai Qingxu gave a soft laugh.
He strolled toward the restroom, as leisurely as if he were out for a walk.
Standing at the restroom entrance, the eerie wailing was now within arm’s reach.
It was still pitch black.
“Oh dear, it is so dark. How about we turn on a light?”
Bai Qingxu spoke to the evil spirit inside the restroom as if he were negotiating.
The silence was heavy.
For a moment, even the evil spirit was rendered silent by Bai Qingxu’s tone.
Bai Qingxu walked over to the switch and pressed it twice at random.
The ceiling light flickered back to life, and the darkness was swept away, completely ignoring the interference caused by the spirit.
Once the lights were on, Bai Qingxu surveyed the restroom.
Dark red blood mixed with fine, black hair was gushing from the faucets. It had already overflowed from the sinks and covered the entire floor like a scarlet carpet.
The light reflected off the blood and hair, creating a bizarre, oily luster.
The light did not dispel the horror; instead, it allowed the terror to stretch even further.
“It is so dirty. I think it is time for a deep clean, do you not agree?”
Bai Qingxu remained unmoved. He merely let out two light chuckles, still acting as if he were having a discussion.
The crying grew piercing, as if trying to shatter Bai Qingxu’s eardrums.
Bai Qingxu tilted his head, looking somewhat innocent as he stepped directly into the blood.
In an instant, the blood covering the floor vanished without a trace, like a popping bubble.
The resentful wailing of the spirit grew longer and more high-pitched, attempting to drive Bai Qingxu away.
“Stop crying.”
Bai Qingxu’s tone remained as gentle as ever.
However, the crying continued intermittently, refusing to stop.
Bai Qingxu shook his head and sighed.
“You really are not being good. There is a punishment for naughty children, you know.”
