After Getting Pregnant, I’m Divorcing My Alpha - Chapter 30
“What did you talk about with my mom?” An Xiangdi had finished helping his father wash the dishes early and then hurried back to his room to boot up the old computer that he rarely used.
“Just some things from when we were kids.” Shen Xiao casually brushed off the topic. “What are you doing?”
An Xiangdi didn’t answer, too focused on installing some software.
The old computer was slow, taking seven or eight minutes to download a program that was only a dozen megabytes.
After fiddling with it for a while, An Xiangdi finally got it working, and a familiar scene appeared on the screen.
“Is this a hotel?” Shen Xiao stood beside An Xiangdi and carefully examined the video footage. He confirmed it was the hotel the crew had booked specifically, An Xiangdi’s room.
“I left a pen there before I left.” An Xiangdi once again felt grateful for his wise decision to buy a spy pen out of curiosity back then.
Shen Xiao recalled the incident where Qiu Cheng had been reported to the Film Association and smiled slightly. His Di was really clever.
“Why did you suddenly decide to be cautious and leave something in the room?”
“When I was packing yesterday, I noticed one of a pair of rings was missing. They were gifts from a sponsor when we were shooting for ‘Cisheng’ magazine.” An Xiangdi explained, “At first, I thought I might have just lost it.”
“You were suspicious?”
“Yes.” He didn’t want to wrong an innocent person, but he also didn’t want to overlook any possibility.
An Xiangdi stared intently at the computer screen, silently hoping it was just his imagination.
Shen Xiao reached out, his warm palm covering An Xiangdi’s eyes. “Don’t stare at it for too long. You’re pregnant now it’s not good for your eyes. I’ll keep an eye on it for you.”
“Then I’ll go take a shower.” After some thought, An Xiangdi decided it was indeed unwise to stare at the screen for too long. Since everything would be recorded anyway, he could always check later if something happened.
“Be careful of your wound.”
“I know.” An Xiangdi responded, grabbing a change of clothes and leaving the room.
Without Shen Xiao’s help, An Xiangdi’s shower was rushed. He barely even spread the shower gel properly before rinsing it off.
After drying himself, he dashed out of the bathroom without putting on any clothes and hurried back to the room.
“How is it? Any movement?”
“Nothing. Why aren’t you wearing any clothes? What if you catch a cold?” Seeing him completely naked, his fair skin glowing under the light, Shen Xiao rushed over anxiously.
He scooped An Xiangdi up, tucked him into the blankets, took the clean underwear from his hand, and helped him put it on.
An Xiangdi’s gaze drifted toward the computer screen, but Shen Xiao shifted his position, blocking the view.
“Let me see.” An Xiangdi pushed him lightly.
“Don’t look. There’s nothing.” Shen Xiao held his hand and nibbled on his fingertips, licking them until they glistened. “Your stomach seems a little rounder now?”
An Xiangdi’s attention was immediately diverted as he looked down at his abdomen.
It did seem slightly rounded, no longer completely flat, though it wasn’t noticeable when he wore clothes.
“Get some rest. I’ll keep an eye on things for you.” Shen Xiao tucked him back under the covers and turned up the air conditioning temperature a bit.
Coaxed by Shen Xiao and surrounded by the rich scent of brandy pheromones, An Xiangdi, despite his reluctance, fell asleep shortly after getting under the covers.
Pregnant and prone to drowsiness, he often fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
Shen Xiao turned off the lights in the room and returned to his computer screen, reading the messages from Yao Honglang while keeping his eyes fixed on the monitor.
Yao Honglang: The police came today but didn’t find anything.
Yao Honglang: The other party was very cautious; nothing was discovered at the set.
Yao Honglang: The crew is panicking now, everyone thinks there’s a mole.
Shen Xiao: Did the police check the traces I mentioned to you yesterday?
Shen Xiao had gone to the surveillance room yesterday to review the footage. Although the camera had been blocked, he noticed that after a period of darkness, the obstruction was manually removed. The surveillance video seemed as if it were covered by a haze.
Given the chaotic situation yesterday and the large number of people on set, Shen Xiao didn’t want to alert anyone, so he didn’t personally check if there were any traces left on the camera. He only mentioned it to Yao Honglang.
Yao Honglang: They checked. It was wiped clean.
Yao Honglang: What do you think it was?
Shen Xiao: Powder.
Yao Honglang: Huh?
Shen Xiao: A makeup puff or something similar.
After sending this message, Shen Xiao had no more interest in replying to Yao Honglang. His gaze remained locked on the computer screen.
An Xiangdi had likely placed the pen containing the hidden camera in the pen holder on the bedside table. The camera was angled toward the room’s entrance. However, due to the room’s layout, it couldn’t capture the door, only half of the hallway and part of the interior. The area near the window on the left was only partially visible in the frame.
A figure appeared in the video. The person entered the room with only the flashlight from their phone, seemingly familiar with the room’s layout. They walked directly to the table where An Xiangdi usually kept his jewelry box.
With the person’s back to the camera and the dim lighting, Shen Xiao couldn’t clearly see what they were doing. It looked as though they were rummaging through things.
After several minutes, the person suddenly turned around, their gaze fixed intently on the direction of the bedside table.
From his computer screen, Shen Xiao felt as if he were locking eyes with this person in the darkness.
An intense discomfort, as if being secretly watched, washed over him. His heartbeat quickened, and his lips pressed tightly together. If he wasn’t mistaken, this person was the makeup artist responsible for An Xiangdi’s styling. They had also done An Xiangdi’s makeup for other events before, so this wasn’t their first collaboration.
The person walked straight to the bedside table. Shen Xiao thought they had discovered the pen with the hidden camera, and his heart leaped into his throat.
But instead, the person slowly crouched down, opened the bedside table drawer, and pulled out a bottle of men’s cologne that An Xiangdi always carried with him.
If Shen Xiao remembered correctly, that cologne was a gift from An Xiangdi’s fan. It had a subtle, elegant scent, and An Xiangdi loved it.
Shen Xiao watched as the intruder unscrewed the cap of the cologne bottle, spritzed some on themselves, and then walked to the wardrobe beside the bed. Opening the wardrobe door, they rummaged through An Xiangdi’s clothes and hugged them tightly to their chest.
This disturbing process lasted for two whole hours. Finally, the makeup artist returned to the bedside table, picked up a silver earring that An Xiangdi had left behind, and left the room.
Shen Xiao sat rigidly in front of the computer screen. The room was dead silent, with only the hum of the computer’s cooling fan and the steady, peaceful sound of An Xiangdi breathing deeply in his sleep.
Shen Xiao’s hand gripping the mouse gradually tightened. He compressed the video on his computer into a file, sent one copy to Yao Honglang’s email and another to his own phone. After completing these tasks, he uninstalled the software, cleared the browser history, and shut down the computer.
Sitting alone in the darkness, Shen Xiao sent a message to Yao Honglang with a grim expression.
Shen Xiao: I sent you an email.
Shen Xiao: Delete the video after watching it.
Shen Xiao: Before Di and I return, I want this person removed from the crew.
Yao Honglang, accustomed to his nocturnal lifestyle, immediately opened the email to check the content Shen Xiao had sent upon receiving the message. After watching the video, he was horrified.
Yao Honglang: Shit! Is this a sasaeng fan?
Yao Honglang: I’ll handle it right now. I won’t be sleeping tonight.
Shen Xiao: Have the police collect evidence from the room. There are fingerprints everywhere you know what she touched.
Shen Xiao: Also, a ring given to Di by a sponsor was taken by her. Don’t retrieve it; destroy it.
Shen Xiao: Burn everything she touched, except for the evidence. I’ll buy him new ones.
Shen Xiao: Retrieve the pen from the bedside table for me. Give it to me privately when I return.
Shen Xiao had no intention of leaking the contents of the video. Such filth was for his eyes only An Xiangdi shouldn’t have to know about the existence of such a person.
Yao Honglang replied with an “OK” and went silent. It wasn’t until dawn that he reported the results.
Yao Honglang: It’s handled.
Yao Honglang: The person was taken away by the police.
Yao Honglang: That makeup artist is an Omega. She’s been secretly following An Xiangdi from crew to crew for a long time.
Yao Honglang: She was the one behind the table incident. She couldn’t have An Xiangdi and wanted to cause him to miscarry.
Yao Honglang: She claimed to know An Xiangdi well, saying he would definitely step in to help.
“Yao Honglang” recalled a message.
“Yao Honglang” recalled another message.
Realizing that the word “miscarry” was too harsh, Yao Honglang recalled two messages in a row and resent a revised version.
Yao Honglang: She was the one behind the table incident.
Yao Honglang: We were lucky she was also the one who submitted the story to the hot search.
Shen Xiao stared intently at the last message. Having stayed up all night, dark circles shadowed his eyes, and his expression was grim.
Shen Xiao: It wasn’t luck.
If An Xiangdi hadn’t been cautious, it might have taken him much longer to discover that such a terrifying threat had been lurking around An Xiangdi.
Shen Xiao: Bring Xiao Gu back. Di will be happy to see him. Shen Xiao: Remember to apologize to Xiao Gu. Although the kid is timid, he’s always done well in handling Di’s matters.
A hint of embarrassment crossed Yao Honglang’s face behind his glasses. Even a top-tier agent could face setbacks. Thinking of Xiao Gu, whom he had wrongly accused, he quickly replied.
Yao Honglang: Understood.
Turning off his phone, Shen Xiao glanced at the bed.
An Xiangdi, sound asleep, had turned over, with only half his head visible above the covers.
Shen Xiao walked over and gently pulled back the blanket. Just as he was about to kiss him, An Xiangdi slowly opened his eyes, disturbed by the morning discomfort that arrived on time.
“Awake?” Shen Xiao held his hand.
An Xiangdi waved dismissively, his stomach churning with acidity, making him feel unwell. After several bouts of dry heaving, he gradually began to recover.
“You didn’t sleep all night? Why do you look like you’ve been stealing?” An Xiangdi swallowed, noticing the dark circles under Shen Xiao’s eyes.
“I was keeping an eye on the video for you, but there was no one,” Shen Xiao lied without batting an eye.
“Ah? Then I must have lost the ring.” An Xiangdi ruffled his messy hair and scooted a bit further into the bed. “Stay and sleep with me a little longer.”
Shen Xiao replied “Okay,” slipped under the covers, and pulled An Xiangdi, warm as a little furnace, into his arms.
