- After Getting Involved In A Love Triangle With My Mortal Enemy From A Past Life, All I Want To Do Is Lie Down And Relax
- Chapter 30 - You Forced My Hand
Friday, the final day of the second week, was another full day of free activities. Most of the guests were in the living room, except for Bai Chen and Sang Luo.
They were out on a date because of Bai Chen’s reward from the first week, which allowed him to invite any guest to a location of his choosing for a date during the second week. Sang Luo did not know Bai Chen’s true purpose, but his own goal was to find out if Bai Chen had memories of their previous life.
The idea of rebirth was bizarre, and transmigrating into a book was even more surreal. After Sang Luo was poisoned to death in his past life, he had lost consciousness completely. When he woke up, he was not in hell as he had expected, but in a vast, white room. Aside from a book floating in the center, there was nothing else in the room. He was cautious, only approaching the book after confirming there was no danger.
He did not know how long it took him to finish reading the book. The moment he closed it, he appeared in the world of the story as a cannon fodder character with the same name. Through various coincidences, he met Huo Xun again. Even without his memories at the time, he knew instinctively that this was the man engraved upon his soul. He had initially thought it was a coincidence until he saw Bai Chen on the dating show. Suddenly, the coincidence became suspicious. It felt less like chance and more like a conspiracy.
Although he had his suspicions, they were not yet confirmed. He needed to hear the truth from Bai Chen. However, Bai Chen was tight-lipped and always skillfully diverted the conversation. After several attempts, Sang Luo realized it was intentional. He knew he would not get any information from Bai Chen, so the date was a waste of time and entirely meaningless.
“I am going back,” Sang Luo said curtly, turning to leave.
Bai Chen froze. He understood Sang Luo’s thoughts, but he could not speak the truth. The smile disappeared from his face, leaving it blank. Watching Sang Luo’s retreating back, Bai Chen’s hand stiffened as he reached out, eventually letting it drop. He knew Sang Luo did not remember that they had met in their previous life. At that time, Bai Chen was not Huo Xun’s right-hand man, but a lowly, desperate assassin.
In the afternoon, the production team conducted a group interview. This was not an individual session but a collective one. The most genuine first reactions and the underlying tensions between the guests were the main attractions. Even the director attended, showing the importance of this interview.
“After living together for nearly two weeks, does the person who makes your heart flutter feel the same way about you?” The director looked at his cue card. “Before we begin, let us announce this week’s fund rankings. In first place is Ms. Qin Yibing.”
Huo Xun and Sang Luo ranked second and third respectively, even when adding the funds from the first week. Qin Yibing, a savvy heiress who had returned from abroad, put effort into every task. While others more or less did not care since it was just a mission, Qin Yibing was unexpectedly serious. As she put it, every investment must yield a return.
She had forward-thinking ideas and bold thoughts. She spent money when necessary and never hesitated when it came to earning it. She could enjoy the thrill of spending money but also throw all her energy into her work. It was no wonder she took first place.
“First, what is the reward related to?” Qin Yibing asked. She wore a sexy, sharp short skirt and high heels, projecting a powerful aura. Today, her makeup was more intricate than usual.
“This is a dating show, so naturally it is related to romance,” the director replied, assuming Qin Yibing was just livening up the atmosphere. “You will be satisfied.”
“Then there is no need. Give the opportunity to the second place winner.” After saying this, Qin Yibing walked to the center of the room with her long legs. “I would like to tell everyone: Qingqing and I are together. We will not be back next week. We are going on our honeymoon.”
She spoke with a generous smile, her eyes fixed on Chu Yuqing on the sofa. The latter stood up, her face flushed deep red. “That is right. We are together.”
Qin Yibing took Chu Yuqing’s hand firmly, her voice cool and elegant. “Everyone, we have had a whirlwind marriage. The wedding will be in about two months. Remember to come.”
This shocked everyone. Once the guests processed the news, they were incredulous but offered sincere blessings. The director also recovered from his confusion and scratched his head with a smile. “I miscalculated.”
He continued, “Fine, but I am changing the rules.” As soon as he said this, the guests knew the director was up to no good. “The reward is delayed until next week, and the content of the reward has changed.”
Huo Xun was in second place. He was indifferent to these things and had no objections. The much-anticipated interview followed.
“We will start in order, beginning with the first person.”
Sang Luo was somewhat dazed until it was Huo Xun’s turn to be interviewed.
“Mr. Huo, what is your ideal type?”
“The person I love is my ideal type.”
“Wow, how romantic.” The director looked at the camera. “On behalf of the fans, I must ask: does the person Mr. Huo loves also love him?”
Huo Xun was silent for a moment before whispering, “I do not know.”
“I have a message for you from a fan. Do you want to hear it?”
“What message?”
The director cleared his throat. “CEO Huo, if you like them, then go for it! Do not be timid. Just pin them against the wall and kiss them; that is half the battle won.” The director laughed and continued, “Just kidding. I want to say that sincerity is key. Do not just blindly try to please them; show your personal charm and understand what the person you love actually needs. We have always supported you, and your choice is always right.”
“I am proud to be your fan. I hope you are never disappointed or downcast. Relationships involve two people, and the same goes for your future life. If you think it is right, we agree as well.”
The director was somewhat moved. “Your fans are truly amazing.”
Huo Xun lowered his head, thinking about those words. He did not speak for a long time. The director sighed; this was as much as he could do.
The rest of the interview was standard, except for Chen Jing, who openly confessed his feelings to Huo Xun. Liu Zhiya had the strongest reaction to Chen Jing’s confession. She had long known she could not leave this threat unchecked. As long as Chen Jing appeared before Huo Xun, she felt a sense of crisis.
“You forced my hand.”
In Liu Zhiya’s eyes, she only saw Huo Xun. Everyone else was an obstacle. Back in her room, she hesitated for a while before finally calling her manager. “Do you still have the medicine you mentioned last time?”
“Of course. Take it with you next week and get Huo Xun to drink it. After one night, you will be Mrs. Huo.” The manager was ecstatic but knew Liu Zhiya’s concerns. “Do not worry about Huo Xun refusing. This medicine has a hallucinogenic effect; he will see you as whoever he wants you to be.”
“Fine, it is settled.” Liu Zhiya bit her lip, her expression becoming increasingly obsessive. “First, get rid of that bitch Chen Jing. Threaten him with evidence of his scandals and make sure he does not come back next week.”
“No problem. Leave it to me.”
To Liu Zhiya, Chen Jing was just a flea. While he was not a threat, he was annoying. Only by getting rid of him could she have peace of mind. She fantasized about becoming the CEO’s wife, wielding power, and dealing with Sang Luo easily. However, she did not know that the flea she looked down upon was also digging up dirt on her and had already found something that could crush her.
