- Chapter 8 - The Perfect Lover
He Yunqi raised his eyes nonchalantly, his voice as eerie and chilling as the underworld. “Too much? In three years, you embezzled 45.3% of the profits, acquired five real estate properties in H City, and established several unregistered shell companies and land plots. And you think this is too much?”
He let out a mocking laugh. “President Zhao, it seems you cannot afford to play. Had you spoken up sooner, I might have given you a two percent discount.”
Zhao Pengtai’s face turned gray as he collapsed onto the floor, his strength completely spent. He wondered how He Yunqi knew all this, especially since the man’s relationship with the He family was so strained. Regardless, he truly could not produce such a vast sum of money on short notice.
Xie Jun’s eyes were filled with sarcasm. “A heart is never satisfied, like a snake trying to swallow an elephant. President Zhao, you certainly have quite an appetite.”
“One should only eat a cake as big as one’s ability allows. Why do some people insist on choking themselves to death? What do you think, President Zhao?”
Every mention of “President Zhao” was laced with irony.
Xu Jichuan was somewhat surprised to hear Xie Jun using allegorical sayings. He had certainly made progress.
Xie Jun sneered internally. Did Zhao Pengtai really think a few polite words gave him the capital to bargain? Was his brain connected directly to his gut?
The atmosphere grew increasingly heavy. The bystanders wondered if they could leave. They had come looking for fun, only to find themselves in a slaughterhouse. A massive wave of killing intent hung over them. Was this a case of killing the chicken to warn the monkeys?
They knew that the Seventh Master was flanked by two subordinates who acted like the Black and White Guards of Hell. Now, it seemed the King of Hell himself had appeared alongside them.
Gu He’s skin grew hotter. He inadvertently gripped He Yunqi’s sleeve, struggling to control his restless body as it instinctively tried to lean closer to the man. The clothes on his back were soaked, and his legs felt numb and weak, nearly giving way.
His eyes were misty, a complete blur of intoxication and the effects of the drug. Even so, his consciousness remained clouded.
He Yunqi looked down at the person in his arms, estimating he had reached his limit. He glanced at Zhao Pengtai with utter disdain. “Dispose of him.”
“Seventh Master, I was wrong! I beg you to show mercy and let me go just this once. I beg you!”
Zhao Pengtai no longer cared about his dignity. He knelt before He Yunqi, trembling all over like a pathetic, shivering stray dog. Others might not know He Yunqi’s methods, but Zhao Pengtai had witnessed firsthand how ruthless and cold-blooded he was at the age of twenty. He kowtowed in a panic, pleading for mercy.
Xu Jichuan kicked the groveling man away. Why did he have to be as persistent as a plaster?
“Seventh Master! Seventh Master!” No matter how heart-wrenching the screams behind them became, the decision was final.
By the end of the night, everyone knew that He Yunqi was truly not someone to be provoked.
Xie Jun swallowed hard, feeling nervous. Had the Seventh Master truly taken a liking to this boy? Was his germaphobia cured?
Though he muttered to himself internally, his driving speed did not decrease.
Inside the car, the air conditioning was on. The low temperature cleared Gu He’s chaotic thoughts slightly. Because space was limited, Gu He had been placed in the back seat. His hands were tied with a necktie to prevent him from moving recklessly. He Yunqi sat beside him, the previous air of ambiguity having completely vanished.
Gazing at the street scenery flashing past the window, a few sparks of clarity returned to Gu He’s eyes.
Xie Jun stole a glance at Gu He through the rearview mirror and spoke tentatively. “Seventh Master, how should we handle him later?”
“Wake him up.”
Gu He could only hear rustling voices by his ear. He tried to focus, but he could not hear clearly, and his eyelids felt incredibly heavy.
“Huh? Me? I do not know how.”
“What use are you then?” He Yunqi slowly opened his eyes. His voice was cold, and his thick brows were knit into a nearly invisible arch, making the surrounding pressure feel even lower.
“Understood! I understand!” Xie Jun felt as though something was different, yet somehow the same.
When Gu He regained consciousness again, he had already been brought to a luxury villa.
After helping him inside, Xie Jun quickly placed him on the sofa as if he were a hot potato. This was the Seventh Master’s person; he did not dare to have any improper thoughts. He made a phone call to bring someone over.
In his daze, Gu He felt a sharp sting in his arm. A cool liquid suppressed the burning heat within his body. The injuries at the corners of his eyes and mouth were also treated.
“Seventh Master, the dosage was not large. He will be fully awake in half an hour.” Xie Jun knew He Yunqi; he was not the type of person to act recklessly, nor would he take advantage of someone in danger. The Seventh Master had always been a gentleman.
Noticing He Yunqi’s deepening frown, Xie Jun worried the man’s germaphobia would trigger and cause him to throw the boy out. “I will take him to wash up.”
“Mm.” He Yunqi had just returned, and his affairs were both numerous and difficult. He had also drunk a fair amount of alcohol today. The furrow between his brows deepened, and his lips were pressed thin, as if he were too lazy to speak further. He took off his suit jacket and threw it into the trash. His black shirt clung to his body, faintly outlining his solid muscles as he turned to head upstairs.
After a while, the bathroom door downstairs opened. Xie Jun stood outside hesitantly, nursing a fresh handprint on his face. He called out to the figure on the second floor for help. “Seventh Master.”
He Yunqi had a bath towel wrapped around his waist. The water on his upper body had not been wiped dry, and droplets trailed down the contours of his muscles one by one. His abdominal muscles were clearly defined, and as he raised his hand, the muscles in his arm pulled and bulged, looking very powerful.
“What is it?”
“The kid is likely awake.” Just as Xie Jun had been about to help him undress, he was struck by a lightning-fast slap. Xie Jun had initially wanted to strike back, but then he thought about scaring the boy. Facing those wary eyes, he could only compromise and walk out, leaving a message for the boy to wash up and come out.
He Yunqi looked at the handprint on Xie Jun’s face with some surprise. He had thought the boy was a clever wolf cub, but it turned out he was a wild little fox.
Watching He Yunqi walk down unhurriedly, Xie Jun glanced silently toward the bathroom. Would he wish him a pleasant night?
“His health check score is 90. He has no internet addiction, does not smoke, and does not drink. He is a textbook model student.”
“Mm.”
