After Falling for the Handsome CEO - Chapter 24
Chapter 24: Mr. Bai’s New Little Boyfriend
Outside the hospital, Xie Li stood like a frail, sickly beauty, waiting for Yan Yu to pull the car around.
He wore a smile, his skin pale, and the wind tousled his hair slightly, creating a sense of disordered aesthetic that made many passersby turn their heads for a second look.
He took out his phone, clicked on the contact labeled “A-Cheng,” squinted his eyes, and sent a message:
Bu Li: Find a way to make sure that guy surnamed Shen never gets another chance to get close to Yan Yu. They aren’t from the same world; there’s no need for them to have any intersection.
Xu Cheng: As long as Yan Yu doesn’t go looking for him, they likely won’t cross paths much anyway. Besides, didn’t you purposefully let him see that intimate scene between the two of you?
When Xie Li saw the reply, a flicker of a mocking smile flashed in his eyes. He curled his lips and whispered to himself, “How stupid. That wasn’t ‘purposeful.'”
Bu Li: Yan Yu’s attitude toward me is just how things are.
This sentence was simple, yet carried an unspeakable pride.
Yan Yu loved him—only him.
As for Shen Jin, he was merely a tool for Yan Yu to relieve boredom. As long as he agreed to be with Yan Yu and let him do as he pleased… then he guaranteed that Yan Yu would never spare that man surnamed Shen another glance.
Xie Li scrolled through his screen, looking at the photos Xu Cheng had sent. Seeing the handsome young man in the photo eating breakfast alone in the hospital corridor with his head down, he couldn’t help but laugh out loud. His mood brightened considerably: “Still eating breakfast? How cheap.”
“A-Li—”
Yan Yu drove up from the parking lot and called out to him with a smile. He stopped the car beside him and gallantly opened the door, chuckling, “What happened? You look so happy.”
The smile on Xie Li’s face stiffened for a split second before instantly recovering. His thumb flicked across the screen to close the app, and he tucked the phone away.
Maintaining his poise, he smiled gently: “I was just browsing the web and saw something funny. I couldn’t help laughing.”
Yan Yu didn’t know what he had seen, but since Xie Li’s health was poor, his mood was the most important thing. It wasn’t often that something made him laugh so heartily, so Yan Yu smiled along: “Anything that can make A-Li this happy deserves a grand reward!”
The smile in Xie Li’s eyes deepened. He replied nonchalantly, “Yes, if there’s a chance, do give a ‘grand reward.’ It’s been a long time since something so delightful happened.”
Just as Yan Yu was about to drive away, Xie Li suddenly spotted two figures walking out of the hospital. His gaze sharpened, and he feigned surprise: “A-Yu, isn’t that Young Master Bai?”
Standing beside Bai Yujin was the despondent Shen Jin.
Shen Jin kept his head down without saying a word, while Bai Yujin walked beside him, offering words of comfort with a gentle smile on his face… they looked exceptionally close.
Yan Yu’s gaze turned cold instantly. He stared at the two of them, his hands tightening on the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white. A fire of rage began to surge in his chest, and the veins on his forehead became faintly visible.
He had clearly told him—it was a transaction. He would give the money, and Shen Jin would give his body… so why was he going to Bai Yujin now?!
“A-Yu… what’s wrong?” Xie Li called out softly. Seeing Yan Yu’s angry reaction, his heart chilled slightly. He couldn’t understand why Yan Yu would get angry over someone like that.
“I… I’m fine.” Yan Yu snapped back to his senses, gritting his teeth. He took a breath, forcing himself to appear calm, but his eyes remained locked on Shen Jin walking with Bai Yujin.
Was he… really that desperate for money?
Xie Li took in all of Yan Yu’s reactions. His hands clenched into fists, and he bit his lower lip to keep his composure. He then let out a surprised little laugh: “Could that be Mr. Bai’s new little boyfriend? They look quite intimate—and honestly, they make a good match.”
As if ignoring Yan Yu’s darkening expression, Xie Li continued to watch them, remarking casually: “Mr. Bai has been coming to the hospital quite often lately; maybe it’s just to meet him. I heard they sometimes have breakfast together in the hallway. They must have a great relationship.”
Yan Yu’s grip on the steering wheel tightened even more, as if he wanted to crush it.
A strange emotion flooded his heart, making it impossible for him to tell what was wrong with himself. He just felt angry—furious—and it was completely beyond his control.
He even lashed out at Xie Li: “You certainly know a lot!”
Xie Li’s smile froze instantly. His face turned pale, and his voice trembled slightly: “…A-Yu?”
“I…” Yan Yu knew he had lost his temper. How could he treat Xie Li like this because of Shen Jin? Xie Li was in poor health and couldn’t handle shocks.
But for a moment, Yan Yu didn’t want to comfort him. He was so enraged by Shen Jin that he wanted to drive away immediately. Just then, Shen Jin recognized the car and looked over—
Their eyes met, and the air seemed to go still.
Shen Jin thought Yan Yu had already left. He hadn’t expected to see him again. Stunned, he stared at that familiar face, a wave of bitterness washing over him. He couldn’t help but whisper under his breath: “A-Yu…”
However, under his gaze, Yan Yu coldly retracted his eyes, slammed his foot on the accelerator, and drove away without looking back.
