- Chapter 24 - "Drunkenly" Climbing into Bed
In the bedroom, Ye Qinglan was leaning against the headboard reading a book. Under the warm yellow light, she wore only a silk camisole nightgown, her exposed neck and shoulder lines carved like white jade.
Su Jin paused for a moment, feigning dizziness, and staggered into the soft, large bed. The silk nightgown slipped off her shoulder with her movement, revealing a patch of snow white skin.
She half-closed her eyes, pretending to be hazy with drink, and reached out to tug at the corner of Ye Qinglan’s clothes.
“Qinglan…” she drawled with a sweet, greasy trail, her tone aggrieved. “Why… do you never understand my heart…”
When Ye Qinglan looked down, the periphery of her vision caught the wine stain winding down Su Jin’s collarbone.
The dark brown liquid was seeping down along the contours of her skin. The semi-transparent lace, soaked through, clung to her skin, faintly outlining the curves of her chest.
Ye Qinglan’s Adam’s apple rolled imperceptibly. Her fingertips suddenly rose, pressing her thumb lightly against the skin of Su Jin’s neck right where a drop of red wine was about to fall.
“Spilling wine like this,” her voice was lower than usual, the end of her sentence dragging like a cat’s claw scratching the heart, “are you trying to pickle yourself into a side dish to go with the drink?”
The temperature from the fingertips transmitted through the skin. Su Jin had intended to pretend to be drunk and whimper a bit, but the moment Ye Qinglan leaned in and she caught the faint scent of the other’s pheromones, her body went limp.
Her body had adapted to Ye Qinglan much faster than she thought.
The pheromones of the two tangled together in the warm air, just like that night, making her cheeks burn.
She instinctively tried to shrink back, but her lower back bumped into Ye Qinglan’s knee. Instead, she leaned forward further, causing the nightgown which was already open low to pull even wider, exposing skin that shimmered under the light.
Ye Qinglan’s gaze slid down from her collarbone, stopping at the lace soaked in wine, and she suddenly let out a low chuckle.
She curled her finger and lightly tapped Su Jin’s chin with her knuckle, like teasing a bristling cat: “Aren’t you dizzy? How do you still know how to dodge?”
“I…” Su Jin was flustered by the look in her eyes, her tongue tripping. “He-head is so dizzy…”
She deliberately tilted her head, her hair falling to cover her eyes, but she peeked at Ye Qinglan through the strands.
She saw the other woman looking down, long eyelashes casting shadows under her eyes, her finger still lingering at Su Jin’s neck, the pad of her thumb seemingly rubbing the skin stained with wine.
Suddenly, Ye Qinglan leaned in close, her nose almost brushing against Su Jin’s earlobe.
The scent of cedar suddenly intensified, wrapped in her warm breath, burning so hot that Su Jin sharply held her breath.
“The smell of alcohol is so heavy,” she heard Ye Qinglan whisper in her ear, her voice husky like mist, “yet your pheromones are cloyingly sweet. Su Jin, are you actually drunk, or…”
Before she finished speaking, Ye Qinglan’s fingertips had slid along Su Jin’s shoulder line to the collarbone, lightly pressing down on that drop of wine about to fall into the cleavage. With a pinch of her fingertips, she smeared the wine stain away.
“Or do you want me to help you sober up?”
Ye Qinglan looked up, her gaze appearing deep under the warm yellow light, like a cold pool filled with broken stars.
Her fingertips still rested on Su Jin’s collarbone, the red wine stain on her thumb smearing into a small red patch, like an ambiguous hickey.
Su Jin’s heart beat so fast it felt like it would crash out of her chest. She could clearly feel the temperature of Ye Qinglan’s fingertips and the increasingly obvious aggressiveness in the other’s pheromones.
The warm thumb brushed against the delicate skin and went down unceremoniously. The unexpected intimate movement made Su Jin shudder violently, a fragmented gasp escaping her throat.
The pheromones belonging to the two of them intertwined in the air, forming a dizzying, sweet atmosphere that made her almost forget she was acting.
Su Jin instinctively licked her lips, only to taste the residue of wine at the corner of her mouth. Her gaze met Ye Qinglan’s, who was staring intently at her lips, causing her to freeze instantly.
Ye Qinglan’s gaze lingered on her lips for a few seconds before she suddenly raised her other hand, lightly brushing her thumb over Su Jin’s lower lip. “There’s some here too,” she said softly.
As the fingertip brushed her lip, Su Jin could feel the itching sensation brought by the slight friction.
“Lick it off,” she said.
Those words sent a current through Su Jin’s spine. She snapped her eyes open, only to see a fleeting flash of amusement in Ye Qinglan’s eyes.
The next second, the other woman suddenly backed away half an inch. Her fingertips left Su Jin’s skin as she leaned against the headboard, tilting her head to look at her, her tone regaining a bit of coldness: “It seems you really are drunk; your face is flushed so red.”
Su Jin was stirred to anger by this hot-and-cold attitude. Shamed and irritated, she wished she could just get up and leave.
The System saw through her thoughts and immediately comforted her:
【Host, stay calm! Think about the mission! Now is the best opportunity. Seduce her, pin her down!】
【But look at her! She’s clearly humiliating me!】 Su Jin said in a fit of pique.
【Then conquer her in bed!】
The System said quickly.
【Don’t forget, you are an Alpha! Can’t you handle an Omega?】
【She’s not an Omega, she..】
Su Jin’s voice stopped, suddenly remembering the System didn’t know Ye Qinglan had evolved into an Enigma.
She pretended to break down,
【…How does she look like an Omega? She looks more like an Alpha than I do.】
【Even if she does, she can’t be an Alpha. You’ve already climbed into bed; this is the best start!】 The System cheered her on.
【This proves you can definitely complete the mission! I won’t disturb the Host further. Good luck, Host~】
After the System finished speaking, it immediately vanished.
【Good luck my ass. Hey! Don’t go!】
Su Jin called out in her mind a couple of times, but receiving no answer and confirming the System had left, she breathed a sigh of relief and dropped the act. “It’s already…”
“Shh.” Ye Qinglan covered her mouth, made a gesture, and then looked up at the void, seemingly waiting for something.
A moment later, a voice rang in her ear:
【Su Jin’s system has disappeared. All monitoring has been withdrawn.】
【I will supervise the system monitoring and tell you if it reappears.】
Ye Qinglan’s expression darkened. She looked down at Su Jin and whispered, “What, you can’t keep up the act now?”
Su Jin’s eyes widened slightly. Meeting her gaze, she realized after a moment of stunned silence the system was still there.
“Damn it, why hasn’t that dog system left?” she muttered under her breath, then continued acting.
She pulled down Ye Qinglan’s hand that was covering her mouth. “I’m not faking. I’m really drunk.”
System: ?
Didn’t it say that other system was gone?
Why…
Ye Qinglan didn’t look at it, a curve forming at the corner of her mouth as she watched Su Jin’s performance with great interest.
The system immediately understood her intention and vanished in silence.
Su Jin maintained her drunken posture, humming indistinctly: “Qinglan… I’m so hot…”
She nudged forward, intentionally letting the lace of her clothes rub against Ye Qinglan’s knee. When she looked up, her eyelashes seemed misted over. “Hold me, okay…”
Ye Qinglan’s gaze swept over her inch by inch. The deep V-neck was open to the bottom, and her clothes were hanging off her, barely covering her body.
Ye Qinglan’s eyes darkened, and she suddenly reached out to wrap her arm around Su Jin’s waist.
Unprepared, Su Jin was pulled forward and fell right into her arms.
Her nose hit the soft silk nightgown, smelling the clearer scent of cedar and the faint warmth radiating from the skin beneath.
She froze in Ye Qinglan’s embrace, feeling the other woman’s palm pressing lightly against her lower back through the wet, cold lace.
“Su Jin,” Ye Qinglan’s voice came from above, carrying a hint of imperceptible hoarseness, “do you know what you are doing?”
Buried in her embrace, Su Jin’s heart drummed.
She could feel Ye Qinglan’s fingertips lightly tracing circles on her waist, every touch like igniting a string of sparks.
She bit her lip and decided to throw caution to the wind. She reached out to wrap her arms around the other’s neck, burying her face in the hollow of her shoulder, her voice thick with nasality: “I know… I just want to…”
Before she could finish, Ye Qinglan suddenly lowered her head, her nose brushing against Su Jin’s ear.
Warm breath puffed against her sensitive skin, accompanied by a whisper as light as a sigh: “Want what? To climb into my bed?”
The moment those words fell, Su Jin felt the hand at her waist suddenly tighten, and Ye Qinglan’s lips had already lightly brushed against her earlobe.
“Yes. I wonder if Miss Ye will give me this chance.”
The System was right; this was the best chance to complete the mission. If she missed it, there wouldn’t be a next time.
Ye Qinglan’s eyes were like ink. She flipped over and pinned the person to the bed. “As you wish!”
The night outside turned thick at some point. The warm yellow light projected their overlapping shadows on the wall. Their pheromones spread silently in the quiet bedroom like a gradually tightening net, trapping them both within.
The night was very long. Ye Qinglan lost control once, making Su Jin cry for a long time.
Before falling asleep, Su Jin watched the dim morning light outside the window, thinking muzzily that after stripping away the system, she must kill it.
What a trash mission..
To hell with the system’s Omega..
This sleep was very deep. When she woke again, it was already afternoon.
She was still in Ye Qinglan’s bed, but the person beside her was gone. The spot where Ye Qinglan had been lying lacked warmth; she had been up for a long while.
Su Jin’s waist was sore and her legs were weak. She lay sprawled out with no intention of getting up.
With a ding-dong, the System’s voice rang in her ear.
【Congratulations, Host! The mission is successfully completed~】
The System cheered.
【The 2,000-million reward has been credited~】
Su Jin raised her hand and gave the void a middle finger to express her feelings.
The mission was complete, and the System was in a good mood, playing a little tune while chatting with Su Jin.
【Don’t be unhappy, you enjoyed it too! Although you failed to mark Ye Qinglan, don’t be discouraged. There will be many more opportunities later!】
Su Jin rolled her eyes. She had already been marked by Ye Qinglan, she wouldn’t think about that.
“Do you have anything else? If not, get lost. I don’t want to see you right now,” she cursed.
Just as she finished speaking, Ye Qinglan’s voice came from the doorway: “That’s not what you said when you were climbing into bed last night.”
Su Jin froze, nearly bouncing off the bed.
The sunlight slanted through the gaps in the curtains, hitting the red marks on her lower back. The skin that had been rubbed by Ye Qinglan’s fingertips last night seemed to retain the burning sensation.
She slowly buried her face in the pillow, leaving only half of a bright red ear exposed, her voice muffled: “I blacked out from drinking last night. I don’t remember anything.”
Ye Qinglan walked in carrying a tray, the porcelain spoon clinking against the rim of the bowl.
She placed the breakfast on the nightstand. When she leaned over, the collar of her silk nightgown slipped open, her shoulder line brushing exactly past Su Jin’s nose.
The scent of pheromones mixed with the aroma of porridge surged over. Su Jin secretly inhaled, only to have her chin pinched by Ye Qinglan’s hand.
“Blacked out?” Ye Qinglan’s fingertips stroked the unhealed red mark on her chin, her eyes narrowing slightly. “Then where did these marks come from?”
Her thumb lightly pressed against the bite mark on the side of Su Jin’s neck, where the skin was still a pale pink. “A mosquito bite?”
Su Jin felt her scalp tingle under the gaze. she jerked her head away to dodge, but the movement pulled the muscles in her lower back, causing her to gasp in pain.
Seeing this, Ye Qinglan let out a low laugh and reached out to pull back the duvet.
The cool air hit her, making Su Jin shiver. She said indignantly, “What are you doing!”
Ye Qinglan’s gaze swept over the marks on her body inch by inch, giving an ambiguous smile. “Who was it that held me last night crying ‘Sister Qinglan’ and said…”
She deliberately elongated her tone, watching Su Jin’s ear turn so red it looked like it might bleed, before slowly saying, “…and asked me to be more tender with her.”
“I did not!” Su Jin looked up sharply, only to crash into the laughter filled eyes of Ye Qinglan.
Sunlight danced on her hair, dyeing those eyes which were always cold with warmth. Su Jin was stunned for a moment, only reacting when Ye Qinglan held the spoon to her lips.
The warm white porridge slid down her throat, carrying a faint taste of ginger.
Su Jin only then realized how hungry she was. She couldn’t help but open her mouth for another sip, but was nearly choked when Ye Qinglan suddenly leaned in.
She could feel Ye Qinglan’s breath on her earlobe, carrying a playful smile: “Now you know how to be shy? It wasn’t like this last night.”
Seeing the faint red marks on Ye Qinglan’s collarbone, Su Jin’s cheeks burned. She bit her lip, trying to pull away, but was easily caught by her wrist.
Her fingertips still held the warmth of the porridge, tracing circles on Su Jin’s wrist bone where the skin was so delicate one could see the pale blue veins.
Ye Qinglan suddenly lowered her head, her lips lightly brushing Su Jin’s wrist, her voice husky: “Be good. Finish eating first.”
Su Jin snapped her hand back, her heart feeling as if it were gripped by something, beating fast and chaotic.
She took the porridge from Ye Qinglan’s hand and, regardless of the heat, gulped it down.
Ye Qinglan sat to the side, her fingertips lifting Su Jin’s messy hair, twining it around her finger. “Don’t be in such a hurry; there’s more in the kitchen.”
Su Jin ignored her, focusing on the porridge.
The other woman said to herself, “Zhao Man called this morning. She said the public opinion online has changed. The company is striking while the iron is hot. We can go to the set in a few days.”
“I’m finished!”
Su Jin put the bowl down and moved to get out of bed, only to be pinned against the headboard by Ye Qinglan grabbing her wrist.
The distance between them closed instantly, noses touching, hot breaths intertwining, inseparable.
Su Jin suddenly remembered certain images, her face turning bright red. “Wha-what are you doing!”
Ye Qinglan’s eyes reflected her panicked state, and she suddenly chuckled: “Isn’t this what you wanted?”
Her fingertips slid up Su Jin’s arm, stopping at the red mark in the hollow of her shoulder, her thumb pressing lightly: “You climbed into my bed last night, and today you plan to go back on it?”
Su Jin was flushed all over from the teasing, and the ache in her lower back served as a reminder of last night’s madness.
She bit her lip, wanting to retort, but then heard Ye Qinglan suddenly sigh, her tone carrying a hint of imperceptible seriousness: “Su Jin, next time you want to climb into my bed, can you not wear such an ugly nightgown?”
“Ugly?” Su Jin’s eyes widened. Such sexy battle armor, and she called it ugly?
What kind of aesthetic is that!?
Ye Qinglan’s finger hooked the semi-transparent lace at her chest and gave it a sharp tug; the fabric tore with a sound.
Su Jin cried out, instinctively wanting to cover her chest, but her wrists were held down. She watched as the other woman threw the torn cloth onto the floor, raising an eyebrow: “This kind of material is too coarse even for wiping a table.”
“You…” Su Jin was both shamed and angry.
Then she saw Ye Qinglan pull a silk robe from the nightstand drawer, the color was the moonlight white she liked.
“Wear this,” Ye Qinglan helped her put it on, her fingertips pausing as they brushed her shoulder. “From now on, I will choose your clothes.”
Su Jin froze, watching Ye Qinglan bow her head to help her tie the sash. The sunlight fell on the top of her head, plating it with a soft golden edge.
Her heart softened, and she couldn’t help but whisper, “Hey, you’re out of character.”
Yesterday, the high and mighty Film Queen Ye was sarcastically warning her not to climb into bed. Yet at night, not only did she not throw out the person who climbed into bed, but she also did that with her, and now she was even personally helping her dress and feeding her.
If the system saw this, it would definitely suspect something.
Ye Qinglan’s hand paused. She smoothly pinched Su Jin’s chin, forcing her to look up, returning to her persona: “And in exchange, you will be my lover! As the price for climbing into my bed!”
Su Jin: ?
Hey! Don’t add scenes randomly, it’ll affect my mission!
