After Escaping My Paranoid Wife's Control - Chapter 18
Upon arriving at the Yongan Department Store, Song Yu and Ying Man first went to check out the counter, and then stood next to it to roughly calculate the foot traffic of the surrounding counters.
Song Yu said, “The location, the foot traffic, and the quality of the customer base are all very good.”
Ying Man said, “Then I’ll contact the mall management to ask about specific matters like the rent, and see if we can lease it.”
“Our company doesn’t have much money left in its account,” Song Yu said. “I’ll have the accountant press for payments a few more times later to find a way to get some cash back, so it won’t delay us leasing the counter.”
Ying Man glanced at Song Yu and said with a smile, “I’ve noticed you’re quite decisive today, not hesitant and indecisive like before.”
Song Yu smiled.
The reason she used to hesitate was that during the early stages of starting the business, she lacked experience and was therefore overly cautious.
During those eleven years she spent with Ji Mingsui, although Ji Mingsui did not allow her to work, she had still seen much of the world at various meetings and events in her capacity as the group’s chairwoman.
Living life over again, she naturally spoke and acted with more determination and decisiveness than before.
Thinking about the events of her past life, Song Yu had ten thousand complaints she wanted to vent in her heart.
In her past life, the dynamic between her and Ji Mingsui was that she made the decisions on minor household matters, while Ji Mingsui made the decisions on major household matters.
But Ji Mingsui was a lunatic whose way of thinking differed from normal people. In Ji Mingsui’s eyes, the biggest thing in their home was her, so things related to her such as her food, clothing, housing, and transportation counted as major matters.
Things unrelated to her such as the group’s development, control over the family’s finances, and interpersonal networking within the vanity fair were all minor matters.
Because of this, her domestic status had always been warped.
If you said her domestic status was low, the formulation of the company’s development strategy, financial cooperation with major enterprises, and the implementation and adjustment of various tasks within the group could not proceed at all without her signature of approval.
But if you said her domestic status was high, she couldn’t even choose what color of underpants, bra, and socks to wear when going out today; it had to be decided by Ji Mingsui.
However, this kind of distortion also caused her to be particularly bold when making decisions regarding work-related matters.
In fact, her current personality was much more suited for the specific stage of an early startup than it had been eleven years ago.
After looking at the counter, Song Yu said to Ying Man, “I’m not going back to the company with you.”
She casually made up an excuse: “Yongan Department Store is close to the subway station.”
In reality, she wasn’t going back to the company because she didn’t want to stay in the same space as Ji Mingsui anymore.
It saved her from having her heart itch with unbearable craving and being unable to sit still because of the scent on Ji Mingsui’s body while awake, and from having all sorts of messy, stimulating, and shameful dreams because of the scent on Ji Mingsui’s body after falling asleep.
Song Yu said to Ying Man, “I’ll find a cafe to work from this afternoon, and when it’s time to clock off, I’ll take the subway straight home from here.”
“Alright,” Ying Man nodded. “Taking the subway home from here is indeed very convenient.”
After Ying Man left, Song Yu found a cafe and ordered a cup of sweet milk.
She said she was working, but a startup company barely had any work to be done.
So she drank her sweet milk while playing on her phone, and every ten minutes or so, she would sniff the coat that carried Ji Mingsui’s scent to satisfy her craving, idling away the time in the cafe until it was time to leave work.
On her way home, just as Song Yu squeezed onto the subway, she received a message from Ying Man.
Ying Man: Are you really not going to the bar with me tonight?
Song Yu: Not going.
Ying Man: Is it that you don’t like younger girls?
Ying Man: Then should I call a few older sisters over?
Ying Man: Or someone the same age as the two of us?
Song Yu: Not going!
Ying Man: I know an older sister who is 10 years older than us. She runs a portrait studio and is incredibly fashionable.
Song Yu: Not going!!
Ying Man: I also have a friend from the same graduating class who is currently working as a kindergarten teacher. She has a very gentle personality.
Song Yu: Are you finished yet?
Song Yu: I already said I’m not going.
Song Yu: Not going!!!
Song Yu curled her lip.
Ying Man was really something, forcing her to use three exclamation marks to demonstrate her resolve.
“Tell me the truth,” Ying Man changed to sending a voice message. “Do you have someone you like?”
Song Yu: …Yes.
Ying Man was curious, “Who is it?”
Song Yu: It’s an unrequited crush.
Song Yu: So it’s a secret.
Ying Man raised an eyebrow, “An unrequited crush, and keeping it a secret from me.”
“Then it must definitely be someone I know.”
She and Song Yu didn’t go to the same university, so their friend groups didn’t overlap.
Furthermore, having known Song Yu for so many years, she understood Song Yu’s personality very well; Song Yu was not the type to fall in love at first sight.
Only after spending a long time with someone would Song Yu gradually develop feelings for them.
The only people who could spend time with Song Yu day and night, and whom she also knew, were the few people in the company.
Ying Man said, “First, rule out me.”
The relationship between her and Song Yu was pure friendship.
“Next, rule out Ji Mingsui. If you liked Ji Mingsui, you definitely wouldn’t have fired her.”
Song Yu smiled.
Ying Man acted as if she had been friends with her for many years and understood her completely, yet right off the bat, she ruled out Ji Mingsui, with whom she had been in a relationship for eleven years.
Ying Man asked, “Is it Sister Qing or Lanxi?”
There were 5 people in the company in total. Excluding Song Yu herself, and ruling out her and Ji Mingsui, all that was left was the accountant Yang Qingqing and the intern Shen Lanxi.
Song Yu replied, “Neither of them.”
Ying Man shook her head, “Impossible.”
Song Yu said to Ying Man, “I’m not lying to you, it really isn’t either of them.”
Hearing the station announcement coming over the broadcast, she ended the conversation, “Not chatting with you anymore, I’ve reached my station.”
After exiting the subway station, Song Yu walked for more than 10 minutes before arriving at the neighborhood where she rented her apartment.
There is a convenience store at the entrance of the neighborhood.
Song Yu walked in and bought two cans of ice-cold beer and two bags of original-flavored potato chips.
In the past, her beer intake started at six cans minimum, but she had already decided to quit drinking in this lifetime, so this time she was very restrained and only bought two cans of ice-cold beer.
Two cans of ice-cold beer was an amount that would make her tipsy but would not cause a blackout.
Blacking out was far too dangerous.
She never wanted to black out again in this lifetime.
After paying, Song Yu carried the transparent shopping bag and left the convenience store with a face full of smiles.
Ying Man couldn’t celebrate with her, so she would celebrate by herself tonight.
To celebrate a new life.
To celebrate the upcoming freedom.
To celebrate that she could soon secretly become Ji Mingsui’s “wife fan” (devoted fangirl) without Ji Mingsui knowing about it.
Heh.
At the same time, on the second floor of the gym across the street.
While sweating profusely on the treadmill, Ji Mingsui was observing Song Yu, who had just walked out of the convenience store, through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the gym.
This gym was located right across the street from the neighborhood where Song Yu rented her apartment.
The front of the cardio fitness area on the second floor featured an entire wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, making it extremely convenient for her to monitor Song Yu.
Therefore, she left work two hours early today specifically to come to this gym and sign up for a fitness membership card.
Seeing through the floor-to-ceiling window that the transparent shopping bag in Song Yu’s hand contained only two cans of beer, Ji Mingsui frowned slightly.
Song Yu’s alcohol tolerance was quite good; two cans of beer were not enough to get Song Yu drunk.
It looked like she had to find a way to make Song Yu drink a few more cans of beer, so that she could take advantage of Song Yu’s alcohol-induced blackout tonight to stay at Song Yu’s home overnight.
Song Yu had been deliberately indulged by her for so many years; suddenly leaving her must feel excruciatingly suffocating.
But she wasn’t doing any better than Song Yu.
Song Yu was merely feeling physically suffocated.
Whereas she—not just her body, but her mind even more so was intensely craving Song Yu’s roughness and fierceness.
Once Song Yu entered the neighborhood and her figure completely vanished, Ji Mingsui pressed the stop button on the treadmill.
“Phew—”
Matching the rhythm of the treadmill, she slowly brought her steps to a halt.
To facilitate posture correction, large mirrors were installed on every wall of the gym.
Ji Mingsui walked to the front of a mirror and took off the athletic jacket she was wearing.
She looked at herself in the mirror.
After taking off the athletic jacket, only a sports camisole was left on her upper body.
The black sports camisole left most of the skin on her upper body exposed to the air.
The black athletic shorts on her lower body outlined her curves even more distinctly.
Ji Mingsui picked up her phone, opened the camera app, struck a pose, and took a selfie facing the mirror.
After selecting the option “Visible to Song Yu Only,” she used that selfie to post an update to her Moments.
[Ji Mingsui: Working out to meet a better version of myself, fitness ing.]
After posting to her Moments, Ji Mingsui looked at herself in the mirror once more.
The corners of her mouth curled up into a slight smile.
Song Yu had been craving her to that dog-like extent during the day; after returning home at night, she would definitely scroll through her Moments to satisfy her craving.
Based on her understanding of Song Yu, if Song Yu saw the selfie she had just posted where she had deliberately exposed her arms, chest, waist, and thighs her reaction would definitely be intense enough to make her drink a few more cans of ice-cold beer to cool down.
Then, once Song Yu was drunk, she could take advantage of Song Yu’s alcohol-induced blackout to go to Song Yu’s home and let Song Yu ruthlessly deal with and torment her, thereby properly soothing her body and mind, which had become restless because she couldn’t grasp Song Yu’s every move at all times.
