After Entering a Marriage Agreement with My Benefactor, This Tsundere Beauty Sends Me Money Every Night - Chapter 6
Inside the car, Song Chengchi watched as Bo Jianyan continued to fuss over his appearance. Seeing him looking so “in full bloom,” Song wondered if this was what everyone with a partner was like. He silently turned his head away, wondering if he would have to act like this to find someone. It was quite depressing; his brother, who had been single for ages, suddenly had a partner, while he still had no one.
Bo Jianyan noticed Gu Huai had not replied yet, thinking he might still be busy. At that moment, Gu Huai was finishing his final audition. One can often judge an actor’s skill by their action scenes, and Gu Huai’s scene involved the protagonist being pursued by assassins while on the run. Since it was just an audition, many sets were not ready, so he was essentially performing against a green screen.
Perhaps because he had a unique understanding of the character, Gu Huai’s immersion was exceptionally smooth. He held a sword already stained with blood so deep it looked black. His black robes seemed to merge with the darkness, yet his movements carried the unbridled spirit of a youth. In a matter of moments, he “slit” the throats of several attackers.
Channeling his inner strength into the blade, he moved as if unleashing an infinite sword intent. He swept a cold gaze over the surrounding men in black. If he could not leave alive today, he would take as many of them with him as possible. His body was covered in wounds; some were deep to the bone, while others were mere grazes. He panted slightly, his body weakened by the excessive use of his internal power, but he held on with a “it is either you or me” tenacity until the very end.
When he finally cut down the last assassin, he was so exhausted he nearly collapsed. Gu Huai leaned on his sword, planted firmly in the ground, to keep himself upright. Dragging a body spent to the limit, he left sword marks in the dirt. His fury gradually subsided, but the slight humming of the sword reflected the unease and helplessness of a youth far from home. Finally, his eyes betrayed a sense of wandering confusion.
Gu Huai was still wearing that expression of dazed defiance when he heard a voice say, “Good, it is him.” He snapped back to reality, realizing he had lost himself in the moment, truly becoming that displaced youth. Director Ye was extremely satisfied, his smile widening as he walked over and patted Gu Huai’s shoulder. “Good lad, you are the most suitable person I have seen these past few days. Finally, someone has performed the role exactly as I imagined it.”
The assistant director stepped forward tactfully and said warmly, “Xiao Huai, you worked hard today. Wait for our notice regarding the follow-up.” Gu Huai nodded obediently. “Thank you, Directors.”
After leaving the audition, he finally had time to check his phone. Upon opening WeChat, he saw messages from a certain someone. He still had not quite processed everything that had happened recently, but he figured he should not let his feelings get in the way of money, especially since he was currently penniless. He replied with a “Fine” and sent his location.
Only then did he remember he had not told Ji Chen he passed the audition. He hurriedly called to share the good news. Ji Chen had to confirm it several times before she actually believed that Gu Huai had been chosen by Director Ye, who was legendary for being the pickiest in the industry. After chatting for a bit, Gu Huai was in a great mood. Remembering the location he just sent, he inexplicably scrolled back to his chat with Bo Jianyan. Seeing that his message had not been replied to, his eyes flickered downward, feeling a strange sense of disappointment.
But in the next second, as if reading his mind, a message popped up saying, “Baby, look up.” He looked up and saw someone with eyes full of laughter. The man was so dazzling that, for a moment, it felt like he was the only thing left in Gu Huai’s vision. Gu Huai dazed for a second, his heart rate involuntarily accelerating.
Before he could react, the man reached out and patted his head. “Baby.” Hearing it in person was entirely different from seeing it in text. The tips of Gu Huai’s ears turned pink. After a long pause, he asked, “Why are you calling me that?” Bo Jianyan arched an eyebrow. “Do you not like it? If you do not like it, I will not say it.”
Despite the words, Gu Huai felt that saying he did not like it would make the man sad. He thought about it; since they were about to get married anyway, being called “baby” a few times would not hurt. “It is fine.” Bo Jianyan took the opportunity to grab his hand, a smile playing on his lips. “Alright then, baby.”
Nearby, Song Chengchi’s eyes went wide. He could only think that it was just as expected of Bo the Dog. Being in a relationship for the first time, Gu Huai was quite inexperienced, especially with someone he had only known for a few days. Bo Jianyan said softly, “We have to put on a full show. I have checked the calendar, and the upcoming days are all auspicious. Baby, when do you want to go get our marriage certificate?”
Gu Huai was shocked. “Marriage certificate?” Bo Jianyan, acting like a big-tailed wolf, blinked. “Is something wrong?” Gu Huai hesitated. “My household register is not with me.” After falling out with his family, he had only taken his bank card and ID. He realized now that he had been a bit sloppy.
Sensing Gu Huai’s predicament, Bo Jianyan was not in a rush. “No matter, in a while, I will take you back to my family’s old estate.” Gu Huai was shocked multiple times in a row. He became curious about Bo’s family. Were they pressuring him to marry this hard? Gu Huai’s handsome brows furrowed. Their relationship was truly strange. But he really did not know what to call Bo Jianyan. Calling him by his full name felt too distant, but other titles were even harder for him to say.
After hesitating for a long time, he asked, “Brother Bo, where are we going now?” Song Chengchi really wanted to flee this place. He had zero interest in watching Bo the Dog fish for a wife. And Bo had called it a contract marriage? It was obvious Bo was interested in the guy and was just making his move early.
Bo Jianyan was in an excellent mood. “Where does baby want to go?” Gu Huai decided that if he was going to do this, he had to do it right. He needed to steal his household register from the Gu residence. Otherwise, he would feel bad about the money Bo Jianyan was giving him. “Then I will trouble Brother Bo to drop me home.”
Xie Wenye’s place was not far. Soon, Gu Huai got out of the car. Seeing no one inside, he assumed Xie Wenye was still at work. Life was getting more stressful by the day. According to his father’s usual schedule, there should not be anyone home at this hour. This was the perfect opportunity to steal the household register.
The more Gu Huai thought about it, the more determined he became. He had made a huge scene last time and thought he would never return. Standing before his family’s villa, he could not help but feel a bit sentimental, but he knew exactly how to move to perfectly avoid the cameras and staff.
He skillfully slipped into his father’s study. Luckily, he had known the safe combination since he was a kid. He found the register in no time. The thought of going against his old man felt great. But just as Gu Huai opened the study door to sneak away, he ran straight into someone who hated his guts.
“Gu Huai? You actually have the nerve to come back?”
