After Entering a Contract Marriage with a Disabled Alpha - Chapter 19
The commotion had been significant. The Alpha kneeling on the floor was bleeding profusely from his forehead, and it looked quite gruesome. He remained defiant, glaring fixedly at Qin Shen and the boy sitting on his lap, yet he was pinned down by the powerful, cold pressure of the pheromones and couldn’t stand up. He could only watch helplessly as the Omega whom he had so despised slowly blushed in the arms of the “crippled” Alpha he looked down upon.
The shop assistants quickly called the police, and within ten minutes, the officers arrived. It was no small matter for an Alpha to intentionally attempt to harm an Omega in public. After reviewing the surveillance footage, the police approached the troublemaker, who was sitting on the floor drenched in sweat. Fearing he might be aggressive, they handcuffed him and led him to the police car.
The onlookers stared in amazement at the Alpha with the leg disability. Such a one-sided pheromone suppression was rare. It took a long moment for them to remember that even among Alphas, there are vast differences in strength.
“Your boyfriend’s pheromones are so dominant! No wonder you chose him,” a wealthy young lady said to Pei Yu excitedly. “If he were rated, your boyfriend would definitely be S-class!”
“Uh… it’s nothing really. Thank you for the compliment,” Pei Yu replied, looking embarrassed.
Applause broke out in the store as the crowd cast admiring glances at Qin Shen. Pei Yu, still sitting on Qin Shen’s lap, became the center of attention. Feeling so many eyes on him, Pei Yu quickly pried Qin Shen’s arms away and stood up.
Looking at his empty arms, a trace of regret flickered in the depths of Qin Shen’s eyes. The faint, lingering scent of roses remained around his neck. Qin Shen checked Pei Yu’s exposed skin, terrified that the boy had been scratched or bruised somewhere.
“Are you hurt?” Qin Shen asked.
“No,” Pei Yu shook his head. He had dodged in time; how could he have been hurt? Still, when that Alpha attacked with the fire extinguisher, he had been genuinely frightened.
“Sir, may I ask if you and your boyfriend have been harmed?” a police officer asked with concern.
Pei Yu paused slightly. As he looked at Qin Shen, their eyes met. Pei Yu quickly averted his gaze and said in unison with Qin Shen, “No.”
Next, he and Qin Shen had to go to the police station to file a report and give detailed statements. Old Yang put the purchased items in the trunk and drove them over. By the time they finished and walked out of the station, evening had fallen.
As they exited the hall, they happened to run into the Alpha with the head injury. His parents had arrived—a middle-aged man who looked quite successful and a woman adorned with jewels. Seeing Qin Shen and Pei Yu, the two immediately began shouting insults, blaming them for hurting their “precious son” and self-righteously demanding medical fees and compensation for mental distress.
Qin Shen grabbed Pei Yu’s wrist and pulled him behind his back. He raised his eyes slightly, his voice devoid of any warmth. “I will pay the medical fees. But you should focus on how you’re going to get your son out of jail.”
“What do you mean?!” the other party’s eyes widened. “Are you actually going to sue my son? Bring it on!”
Seeing another fight about to break out, the police intervened. The officer had wanted to suggest a private settlement, but Qin Shen’s attitude was exceptionally firm.
“There’s no need to say more,” Qin Shen said. “If one dares to do these things, one must consider the consequences. I will have the company’s legal team contact you.”
Hearing the mention of a professional legal team, the couple and the police froze. Staring at the man who possessed such an extraordinary aura despite being in a wheelchair, the Alpha’s father suddenly realized something. He hurriedly asked the officer for the man’s name.
The officer told him truthfully: “Qin Shen and Pei Yu.” He added a gentle warning: “An Alpha maliciously attacking an Omega is a serious matter. I suggest you settle this privately if possible…”
The rich heir, his head wrapped in bandages, still hadn’t realized the severity of the situation. Thinking his parents would handle anything, he continued to shout from his bench.
Slap! He was hit with a heavy backhand.
“Shut your damn mouth! Not another word!” his father barked. He then walked over to Qin Shen, his attitude a complete reversal from his previous aggression. “President Qin, I apologize. This was my son’s fault. Could we perhaps discuss this further…?”
Qin Shen interrupted him: “There is nothing more to discuss.” He looked up at Pei Yu. “Let’s go.”
“Yes,” Pei Yu replied.
“President Qin! President Qin!” The middle-aged man followed them to the luxury car parked in front of the station but was blocked by Old Yang. The car door closed ruthlessly, and the vehicle started.
Pei Yu turned to look back. The middle-aged man’s back was hunched, looking as if he had aged several years in an instant.
“Will that Alpha really be sentenced?” Pei Yu asked from the side.
Qin Shen’s hands rested naturally on his lap, his thumb lightly stroking his watch. “Yes.”
The night had already darkened, and the sky was a hazy gray. The car drove onto the cross-river bridge, where the brilliant lights turned the river’s surface into a shimmering mirror.
“Do you think this treatment is too severe?” Qin Shen asked, his brow slightly furrowed. He understood a young person’s sense of sympathy and mercy. Once a criminal record is established, it affects a person’s entire life, even the next generation. But when Qin Shen remembered the image of that man attacking Pei Yu with a fire extinguisher, a surge of anger rose in his throat.
“Of course not,” Pei Yu said. “If you do something wrong, you should be held responsible.”
The furrow in Qin Shen’s brow smoothed out. He gave a low “Mm,” and after a long pause, he said slowly, “Next time, remember to protect yourself first.”
“I’m not stupid. I was just looking at the shop,” Pei Yu said casually. “Besides, it’s not like I haven’t encountered things like this before.”
Qin Shen’s gaze darkened. “Before?”
“Yeah, I used to be harassed by thugs and delinquents,” Pei Yu said. “Do you remember me wearing glasses? I used them to hide my face.”
These things happened a long time ago. Pei Yu’s tone was flat as he spoke, as if being targeted and harassed in the dark of night was just a past event, a small matter not worth mentioning.
As Pei Yu was speaking, his wrist was suddenly caught. He paused, his clear light-brown eyes looking at Qin Shen.
“Those things will not happen again,” Qin Shen said. “And you don’t need to wear glasses on purpose anymore. You are very beautiful.”
Qin Shen’s words were like a small hammer striking Pei Yu’s heart. He licked his lips and awkwardly withdrew his hand. “I’m not wearing glasses now…”
“Besides, you gave me so much. I could never spend it all in my lifetime. I don’t need to work part-time jobs anymore.”
Qin Shen looked at the boy’s slender neck and let out a soft laugh. “Mm, you’re right.”
“Thank you for defending me just now,” Qin Shen added. “Hearing what you said made me very happy.”
“About saying you’re handsome?” Pei Yu teased. “I wasn’t wrong. You really are many times handsomer than him.”
In Qin Shen’s worldview, his appearance wasn’t something of particular value. But now, he couldn’t help but ask, “Then… do you like it too?”
Pei Yu’s heart warmed. He felt the gaze Qin Shen was using to look at him was a bit too intense. “I suppose everyone likes people who are handsome,” Pei Yu whispered.
Qin Shen raised an eyebrow. “So you like it too?”
Pei Yu licked his lips. “Mm…” Seeing the smile deepening on Qin Shen’s lips, he quickly added, “Don’t misunderstand! I was just talking about your face!”
Qin Shen chuckled. “I didn’t say anything else.”
Pei Yu coughed twice, then suddenly smelled the cedar pheromones drifting toward him again. “Can you… control your pheromones a bit?” Pei Yu said. “Every time they come over, they mess with my heartbeat.”
“Control them?” Qin Shen let out a soft hum.
Pei Yu said, “Yes… sometimes they’re so strong.”
“Do you hate them?” Qin Shen asked back. “Or do you like this scent?”
“Huh?” Pei Yu paused slightly, not expecting Qin Shen to ask him that. “It smells quite good,” Pei Yu said, his eyes darting around. “It’s… it’s not a matter of liking or disliking it.”
The main issue was that Qin Shen’s pheromones made him have all sorts of wild thoughts. “100% compatibility… it affects me in certain ways,” Pei Yu said, scratching at the seat cushion with his finger.
“In what ways?” Qin Shen pressed.
“…” Pei Yu’s face turned red. He turned his head to look out the window, ignoring Qin Shen. Qin Shen caught sight of the boy’s flushed neck, a faint smile touching his stern brow.
Two days later, after coming home from school, Pei Yu received a package from the suit shop. He unwrapped the suit and tried it on. The chest, underarms, and waist had been adjusted to varying degrees, making it fit his figure perfectly. After checking that everything was fine, Pei Yu sent a message to the shop to confirm and handed the clothes to Aunt Zhou, asking her to help steam them.
“Alright, just leave them there. I’ll have someone do it in a moment,” Aunt Zhou said with a smile, pointing to the living room sofa.
Pei Yu leaned over and placed the clothes down. “Thank you, Aunt Zhou. Sorry for the trouble.”
“It’s no trouble at all,” Aunt Zhou said cheerfully. “It’s what I should do.”
At dinner, Qin Shen took a small sip of lotus root and pork rib soup and brought up the aftermath of the Alpha from the suit shop.
“The case has been formally filed at the station. The Qin Corporation’s legal team has taken over. We will be suing him for verbal abuse and attempted intentional harm to an Omega.”
Qin Shuo and Qin Yiyang had heard about the incident. Qin Yiyang said, “I didn’t expect there to be such ill-mannered Alphas nowadays. He started it; of course, he should be detained.”
“Fortunately, Xiao Yu wasn’t hurt,” Qin Shuo added. “Take two more bodyguards with you from now on to avoid any accidents.”
Qin Shen nodded. “Alright, I’ll consider it.”
Pei Yu was still slowly peeling a boiled shrimp. Seeing this, Qin Shen picked up two shrimps, quickly peeled them, and placed them in Pei Yu’s bowl.
“For me?” Pei Yu looked at the white shrimp meat.
Qin Shen lowered his eyes. “Mm. Eat up.”
Pei Yu smiled. “Then I won’t stand on ceremony.”
Shortly after dinner ended, medical staff from the Qin Corporation’s pheromone research department arrived. They brought professional portable medical equipment to collect pheromone data from both Qin Shen and Pei Yu.
“This was mentioned in the agreement; we might need to draw a little blood,” Qin Shen asked. “Is that alright?”
Pei Yu raised his arm. “Of course, we already agreed on this.”
Qin Shen nodded and signaled the medical staff to begin. He and Pei Yu sat side-by-side, their arms resting on soft cushions with tourniquets tied around them. The boy’s arm was slender, with faint bluish-purple veins winding beneath his snowy skin.
Qin Shen tightened his fist and whispered a warning to Pei Yu, “It might sting a bit.”
The nurse drawing Pei Yu’s blood noticed the tension and said with a smile, “I’ll be as gentle as possible.”
Being specifically comforted made Pei Yu’s ears turn hot. He looked at Qin Shen and muttered softly, “I’ve had blood drawn before. I know it hurts a little.”
The sharp needle pierced the skin, and dark red blood flowed into the vacuum collection tube. No matter how gentle the movements, breaking the skin still hurt; Pei Yu knit his brows slightly, his long eyelashes trembling. His gaze dropped to Qin Shen’s arm—the muscle lines there were much firmer than his own, radiating the strength of a mature Alpha.
After the blood was drawn and the puncture sites were pressed for five minutes, the two tossed their cotton swabs into the bin.
“Now we need to test the changes in President Qin’s internal pheromone data after an ‘exchange,'” the medic said, handing over a sheet. “According to the instructions here, we need to draw blood once after each task is completed. For these next few, we only need to draw blood from President Qin.”
Pei Yu looked at the list curiously. It detailed the specific methods and durations for exchanging pheromones:
-
- Hold hands tightly for ten minutes, followed by a blood test.
-
- Hug tightly for ten minutes, followed by a blood test.
-
- Deep kiss for ten minutes, followed by a blood test.
Deep kiss… for ten minutes?!
Will we really not die from lack of oxygen?!
Wait, the main issue wasn’t the oxygen—it was that he had to kiss Qin Shen? Pei Yu’s eyes widened, and he was rendered speechless.
Qin Shen’s expression shifted slightly after reading the list. He asked in a low voice, “Must all of them be completed? Can we choose just two?”
The medic paused and looked at the two suspiciously. As far as she knew, President Qin and Mr. Pei were already married; she assumed exchanging pheromones shouldn’t be a difficult matter. Had she misunderstood?
“If you are uncomfortable with the third item, it can be replaced with…” the medic paused, “a temporary marking.”
“Holding hands and hugging produce relatively small fluctuations,” she explained. “Furthermore, the pheromones present in saliva are second only to blood. This specific data is very important for President Qin’s condition.”
Pei Yu listened quietly from the side. A temporary marking was clearly a more intimate act for AOs than holding hands, hugging, or kissing. But since Pei Yu had only recently differentiated, in his mind, the level of privacy required for a kiss and a temporary marking were about the same—both involved being far too close.
He looked at Qin Shen, unsure of what the man would decide. He expected Qin Shen to go through with it; after all, the man’s affection for him lately had been incredibly obvious. Normally, as an Alpha, it was unlikely he would pass up such an opportunity—especially when there was a perfectly valid medical reason for it.
Kissing?
Pei Yu glanced sideways at Qin Shen’s lips. They were thin, sharply defined, and a pale, clean color. His fingertips had accidentally touched them before; he wondered if they would feel soft when kissed.
As Pei Yu’s thoughts wandered, waiting for Qin Shen to say “I understand” or “Fine,” the man instead pressed his lips into a tight line.
“For now, we’ll only do the first two,” Qin Shen said sternly.
Pei Yu froze, wondering if he had misheard.
The medic hesitated. “But… this might delay your treatment, President Qin.”
For research into pheromone disorder, blood from a 100% match was an excellent sample. More importantly, getting accurate data regarding Qin Shen’s own condition would help them formulate a more detailed pheromone exchange therapy, which would be highly beneficial for his recovery. They had spent years looking for an effective treatment; now that a rare 100% match Omega had appeared, this compatible pheromone could truly turn things around.
Qin Shen, who had endured his condition for years, was indifferent. He said flatly, “Then let it be delayed.”
Sitting on the other side of the living room, Qin Shuo overheard this. Seeing Qin Shen refuse without even consulting Pei Yu, he was so frustrated that he stood up abruptly.
“I’m going upstairs to sleep,” he said, fearing he wouldn’t be able to hold back his temper if he stayed. He genuinely liked the boy, but truth be told, Qin Shen’s health was the most important thing to him. However, he could see that Qin Shen’s attitude toward his illness remained unchanged. The fact that Qin Shen had even accepted a marriage to an Omega for treatment was already a rare compromise. As for how the two actually got along, he didn’t intend to interfere—and he couldn’t even if he tried.
“Grandpa’s going to bed so early?” Pei Yu watched the old man’s retreating back.
Qin Shen paused, then said, “Well, he is getting on in years.”
“…” Standing at the second-floor landing, Qin Shuo’s body shook. I shouldn’t have climbed these stairs!
Seeing Qin Shen’s firm stance, the medical staff didn’t push further. “Then we will only proceed with the first two for now.”
Pei Yu felt a strange tingling in his heart. It was completely different from what he had expected. He thought Qin Shen would use this chance to at least ask if he wanted to kiss; he didn’t expect the man to reject it outright.
Qin Shen asked, “Do you want to go back to the bedroom? I can come back down to draw blood once we’re done.”
Pei Yu shook his head. “No need. It’s just holding hands and hugging. We can do it here; just ask the staff to step away for a bit.” It was inconvenient to move the wheelchair up and down repeatedly anyway.
Pei Yu stood up to return the list to the medic. He looked down at the bridge of Qin Shen’s high nose and deep-set eyes, and a thought flickered in his mind. He suddenly blurted out, “Actually… a kiss isn’t a big deal, right?”
The room suddenly fell into silence. The nurse packing the medical instruments paused, looking up curiously at the boy and President Qin.
Qin Shen’s dark eyes sank completely. He asked huskily, “Do you know what you are saying?”
The directness of his gaze made Pei Yu’s heart skip a beat. The overwhelming courage that had surged through him moments ago instantly vanished. But thinking about how Qin Shen had protected him these past few days and the gifts he had received… from any angle, he was the beneficiary here. Meanwhile, the progress on Qin Shen’s treatment was moving slowly.
Just as Qin Shen knew him, Pei Yu knew that at a moment like this, he would definitely help.
“I know. It’s just a kiss, not a marking,” Pei Yu pretended to be calm, though his palms were starting to sweat. He tried to lighten the mood with a joke: “Don’t tell me you’ve never kissed anyone before?”
Qin Shen gripped the armrests tightly, the knuckles on the back of his hands protruding clearly. He fell into silence.
“…” Pei Yu was shocked. So Qin Shen really hasn’t kissed anyone?!
His surprise was so obvious and blunt that even Qin Shen felt a bit self-conscious. Is not having kissed anyone that strange?
The medical staff nearby all bowed their heads, pretending to be busy with their work while wishing they were suddenly deaf.
Two seconds later, Qin Shen opened his lips and said in a calm tone, “That’s normal, isn’t it?”
Pei Yu took a sharp breath. “Indeed… very normal.”
So what if he’s nearly thirty and hasn’t kissed anyone?! He was making a mountain out of a molehill.
Pei Yu took a deep breath and said, “Then let’s add the kiss. I can accept it.”
Qin Shen’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his voice sounding a bit raspy. “If… you don’t mind.”
Forty minutes later, the first two items of the pheromone exchange were successfully completed in the living room, and Qin Shen had two more tubes of blood drawn. Just from the hugging, Pei Yu felt a bit overwhelmed. Fortunately, Qin Shen had controlled his pheromones well this time, not releasing as much as before. Pei Yu’s complexion looked mostly normal, save for his slightly red ears.
Only the last task remained. Since a kiss couldn’t possibly happen in the living room, they prepared to go back to the room to finish it and then come back down.
Pei Yu followed Qin Shen into the elevator. Once the doors closed and they were alone in the enclosed space, the pressure increased tenfold. He looked down at the man’s broad back and wondered if his words in the living room had hurt Qin Shen’s pride. After all, expressing shock in front of so many people about him never having kissed at his age might have seemed biased.
Pei Yu thought about it, lightly patted Qin Shen’s shoulder, and said softly, “I was just too surprised earlier. Please don’t take it to heart.”
“I won’t,” Qin Shen said, lowering his eyes.
“That’s good.” Pei Yu smiled. “As for kissing, it’s my first time too, so it’s a fair trade.”
Qin Shen looked up at Pei Yu, who currently seemed particularly carefree and indifferent. His Adam’s apple rolled. “Are you sure it’s a fair trade?”
Pei Yu: “Yeah, both are first kisses.”
Qin Shen’s eyes darkened, and he said calmly, “Mm. Then try not to cry when we do it.”
With a ding, the elevator doors opened. After Qin Shen exited, Pei Yu remained frozen on the spot.
Pei Yu’s face flushed bright red, his heart dangling in his chest. He glared at Qin Shen’s back and shouted in a mix of shame and annoyance, “Who says I’ll be the one crying?!”
