After Dumping the Scumbag Top, I Was Relentlessly Chased by a Top-Tier Idol - Chapter 43
The faint furrow in Song Chizheng’s brow was quickly swept away by the sea breeze. He tapped his finger lightly against Jiang Siyuan’s forehead and said, “What are you overthinking for?”
Jiang Siyuan smiled and shook his head, his tone remaining gentle. “I’m not overthinking. I just wanted to tell you that I love you very much.”
Song Chizheng pulled him into his arms. “I know. Don’t think too much.”
“Mm,” Jiang Siyuan responded with a smile, but the hand hanging at his side was clenched into a tight fist.
It really has changed.
If this had happened before, Song Chizheng would have definitely said, “I love you even more.”
The Medical Tent
Lin Yizhou and Shen Xu reached the entrance of the tent just as Nan Qiguang was leading the buzz-cut male actor out.
Seeing Lin Yizhou, Nan Qiguang strode over to him, his face filled with concern. “Yizhou, why are you here? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?”
Lin Yizhou took a step back, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Shen Xu. “I brought a teammate here.”
Seeing that Nan Qiguang was about to say more, Shen Xu cut in first. He looked at Lin Yizhou with a pitiful expression. “Captain, let’s go in. My hand hurts so much.”
Nan Qiguang:
Lin Yizhou nodded. “Captain Nan, we’ll be going in now.”
“Captain,” the buzz-cut actor whispered to Nan Qiguang as they watched the two walk away, “I feel like Shen Xu’s feelings for Captain Lin are the same as yours.”
Nan Qiguang withdrew his gaze and turned to leave, appearing indifferent. “It might not be the same.”
The buzz-cut actor followed him, looking confused.
Lin Yizhou entered first. Shen Xu lagged a few steps behind, and only after confirming the two outside had left did he step inside.
He sat at the table and placed his hand on the surface. Tilting his head, he saw Lin Yizhou looking at him from diagonally across. He curled his lips slightly and then averted his eyes, letting his gaze go blank.
Lin Yizhou felt a bit puzzled. He vaguely felt that something wasn’t quite right.
Ever since Shen Xu inexplicably started talking non-stop back on the beach, things seemed to have shifted…
The team doctor prepared the necessary tools and medicinal liquid. He picked up the scissors and was about to start when Shen Xu called out for him to stop.
Shen Xu’s vacant gaze returned to Lin Yizhou. A smile played at the corner of his mouth. “Captain, why don’t you wait for me outside?”
Their gazes met in the air.
After a moment of silence, Lin Yizhou nodded, stood up, and walked out of the tent.
Once he had left, Shen Xu looked up at the doctor and forced a smile. “Doctor, please be a bit gentle later.”
The team doctor was a robust elderly man with a few stray white hairs visible on his head. He looked kind and amiable when he smiled. Hearing this, he teased, “Young man, when I set your bone the day before yesterday, you didn’t even let out a groan. That was much more painful than this. What’s the matter? You’re afraid of pain today?”
Shen Xu gave a strained smile, his eyes never falling on his own wound. “The nature of this is a bit different from last time.”
Seeing the sweat trickling down his forehead, the doctor couldn’t help but frown slightly. “Is there somewhere else you’re feeling unwell besides this wound?”
Shen Xu shook his head. “No. I’ll have to trouble you.”
The doctor began to clean the wound, chatting with him as he worked. “I heard you pulled someone back?”
Shen Xu looked at him and nodded. “How did you know?”
The doctor smiled and glanced at him. “The actor who came for treatment earlier told me. He used a very admiring tone. Perhaps because of that, your wound is deeper and larger than his.”
“Hiss, it’s all bloody, it looks quite ghast.”
Before he could finish his sentence, the hand in front of him suddenly jerked away. A piece of shredded fabric that should have been gently peeled off was ripped away forcefully.
Fresh blood quickly began to flow from his palm.
The doctor hurriedly used cotton to stop the bleeding, looking reproachfully at the restless patient. However, he saw the patient biting his lip hard; his face was deathly pale, his expression was dazed, cold sweat was pouring down, and his back was hunching further and further.
He looked to be in extreme agony.
“What’s wrong?” The doctor was startled and rushed from behind the table to stand in front of him. “Where else does your body feel uncomfortable?”
Having practiced medicine for nearly forty years, there was no way he didn’t realize that Shen Xu’s state was absolutely not caused by that wound.
“I’m really fine, it just… it just hurts,” Shen Xu looked up, his breathing slightly ragged. “Please, just hurry and treat it.”
The doctor frowned but chose to follow his lead. However, Shen Xu didn’t stay still for long. After a moment, he suddenly pulled his hand away again.
Seeing this, the doctor’s assistant walked over. “Doctor, should I come over and hold his hand down?”
The doctor raised a hand to stop him and shouted toward the outside of the tent, “Young man outside, come in!”
“D—”
The word “Don’t” only made it out as a single sound before Lin Yizhou pulled back the door curtain and walked in. Seeing Shen Xu, who was almost slumped over the table, he hurried over and grabbed his arm. Seeing the man trembling uncontrollably, he asked the doctor, “What happened to him?”
“He says he’s fine. As for what exactly is wrong, let him tell you himself,” the doctor said. “For now, please help me hold him down. Don’t let his hand move so he doesn’t cause more bleeding.”
Shen Xu’s body suddenly gave a violent shudder, and his arm, which had just been repositioned, slid away again.
Lin Yizhou frowned. He moved his hand to Shen Xu’s back and patted it gently. He straightened the man’s hand, held it down, and comforted him: “It’s okay.” He leaned down, getting closer to the doctor, and lowered his voice, “Don’t say the word ‘blood’.”
He had clearly felt just now that Shen Xu’s reaction intensified the moment he heard that word.
The doctor understood and nodded in agreement.
As Lin Yizhou stood up straight, his waist was suddenly pulled in by a surge of force.
Shen Xu hooked one hand behind Lin Yizhou’s waist and buried his head against his stomach.
After a brief moment of stunned silence, Lin Yizhou placed his hand on Shen Xu’s head and stroked it gently.
Shen Xu’s emotions gradually stabilized, and the treatment proceeded smoothly.
Halfway through, the doctor looked up at the two people holding each other and nodded in approval. His intuition had been correct after all.
The Campsite
About ten minutes later, the doctor snipped off the excess bandage and instructed, “Remember, the wound must not touch water. Come back every half-day to change the dressing.”
“Okay,” Lin Yizhou replied.
By now, there was only half an hour left until the gathering time requested by the director. The two of them left the medical tent and walked slowly back along the beach, both tacitly remaining silent.
As they approached the main group, Pei Yutai saw them and shouted from afar, “Captain! Brother Xu! Hurry back! The black-hearted director is withholding our supplies!”
Director Tu was speechless for a moment. He picked up his megaphone, held it to Pei Yutai’s ear, and said leisurely, “The handover of food requires a sense of ritual, do you understand, young man?”
Pei Yutai jumped three feet away and took off running toward Lin Yizhou.
“Brother Xu, are you okay?” This time, Pei Yutai consciously didn’t crowd around Lin Yizhou but went to Shen Xu’s side instead. “Why is your face so pale?”
Shen Xu curled his lips. “I’m not pale; I’m naturally fair-skinned.”
Pei Yutai:
He was worrying for nothing. The sky might collapse, but his Brother Xu would definitely be fine.
When only the last streak of sunset remained on the horizon, all the guests gathered on the beach. The evening breeze carried a hint of chill as it brushed against everyone.
Director Tu held his large megaphone: “Once again, congratulations to Lin Yizhou’s team for winning today’s final task and obtaining our food gift pack!”
“One point of emphasis: unless otherwise specified, rewards and tools obtained cannot be shared between teams. Once discovered, everything will be confiscated. I hope everyone remembers this.”
“Lin Yizhou’s team can come forward to collect your rewards. Tonight is your own time. I wish everyone a good night’s sleep filled with anticipation for tomorrow~”
The last light of the sunset vanished. The crackling of firewood broke through the darkness, propping up a circle of light.
Lin Yizhou’s team sat around the fire.
A grill was set up over the flames. Amidst the roaring fire, oysters sizzled with oil, their aroma swirling around everyone’s noses.
Around the grill sat six empty rice bowls and three empty vegetable plates. The production team was very generous; not only was the food provided in full, but the seasonings were also complete.
Pei Yutai rubbed his hands together, his Adam’s apple bobbing he looked famished. “Captain, is it almost ready?”
Lin Yizhou picked out some grilled oysters and set them aside. “These are ready to eat. Be careful, they’re hot.”
After saying this, he took new oysters out of the box and placed them one by one on the grill.
Song Chizheng reached out for one, blew on it a few times, and fed it to Jiang Siyuan’s mouth. “Here, be careful of the heat.”
Jiang Siyuan’s eyes lit up. He said sweetly, “Thank you, baby,” and opened his mouth to eat it obediently.
Out of the corners of their eyes, both of them synchronized their gazes toward the person currently adding seasonings to the oysters.
Lin Yizhou put down the seasonings, picked up an oyster, and fed it to Shen Xu.
Shen Xu was stunned for a moment. Feeling the two differently flavored gazes from opposite him, his heart felt complicated.
As if seeing through his thoughts, Lin Yizhou said, “Your hand can’t touch water, right?”
So it was because he was afraid the juice would accidentally spill onto his hand!
Shen Xu had thought… Lin Yizhou had acted this unusually because he saw Song Chizheng feeding Jiang Siyuan.
He had originally intended to wait for the oyster to cool down before eating, but he hadn’t expected to wait for a surprise like this.
His mood brightened instantly. Shen Xu opened his mouth and ate the oyster meat. “Thank you, Captain.”
Seeing this, Pei Yutai praised, “Captain is always so thoughtful!”
Lin Yizhou didn’t say anything but picked up another one and held it to Shen Xu’s mouth.
This time, Shen Xu avoided it slightly. “Captain, you eat one first.”
Lin Yizhou pushed it forward a bit more. “I just finished dinner; I can’t eat anymore.”
Shen Xu followed his lead and ate the oyster from his hand.
Pei Yutai said in surprise, “Captain, you’re full already? There’s still so much left. Didn’t they say this can’t be kept overnight? The director’s team doesn’t provide a fridge.”
Lin Yizhou: “It’s fine. As long as you guys can eat it.”
Pei Yutai sighed. “If only we could share.”
Jiang Siyuan: “Little brother, put those thoughts away. Those two chickens over there are tomorrow’s breakfast; that’s the result of everyone’s hard work.”
Pei Yutai looked up at Jiang Yi by the neighboring fire and said nothing more.
The two chickens seemed to understand the conversation and let out two “clucks.”
Jiang Siyuan took an oyster, blew on it, and held it in front of Song Chizheng. Seeing that the person in front of him wasn’t moving, he asked in confusion, “What’s wrong?”
Song Chizheng shook his head and opened his mouth to eat the oyster.
Jiang Siyuan smiled. “How does it taste?”
Song Chizheng: “For this kind of thing, it’s mainly about the seasoning.”
Jiang Siyuan agreed. “I suppose so.”
Shen Xu gave a cold sneer. “In that case, why don’t you two just eat the seasoning?”
