- Chapter 19 - Tender Fragrance and Soft Jade, "Chi Ling, can you please be a bit better behaved?"
Trainees continuously entered Class C, and soon, the practice room became bustling with people.
Wearing the multi-colored uniforms of their original classes, they gathered in small clusters based almost entirely on color.
Blended into the crowd, Ming Tang and Qi Deng were finally no longer as eye catching as those two lonely, distinct streaks of color from earlier.
The class changing process was swift. Deeply immersed in their own emotions, the trainees didn’t engage in much casual conversation. Each behaved like a student transferring classes, rushing straight into their practice.
“Ming Tang! Someone is looking for you!”
Ming Tang was catching her breath in front of the mirror, resting her hands on her knees to recover from the intense dancing, when she heard someone call out to her from afar.
Looking toward the source of the voice, she could only see a sliver of a water-blue sleeve tucked behind the edge of the doorframe.
Without even needing to think, Ming Tang instantly realized that it was the Class A uniform.
Has Chi Ling come over?
Ming Tang habitually grabbed a couple of tissues to wipe away her sweat, called out a thank you to the unfamiliar classmate, and picked up her pace toward the door.
“Chi… How is it you?”
The moment Ming Tang stepped out of the main door and saw clearly who had arrived, she slammed on the brakes. Her expression and tone shifted instantly.
“Tsk, I knew Chi Ling is the only one in your eyes,” Qiao Xiangshu said at lightning speed. “I came here precisely because of Chi Ling’s situation.”
Only then did Ming Tang notice that Qiao Xiangshu’s chest was heaving violently. She had clearly run all the way here and hadn’t managed to catch her breath yet.
“What’s wrong with Chi Ling?” Ming Tang asked urgently, grabbing Qiao Xiangshu.
Suddenly grabbed by Ming Tang, Qiao Xiangshu trembled involuntarily. Her voice, which wasn’t stable to begin with, shook along with it. “Her body temperature is very high. I just escorted her back to the dorm. She told me to find you. To me, it looks like…”
Ming Tang, of course, understood what the cause was. She waved her hand to stop Qiao Xiangshu from speaking further.
“I know.” Ming Tang’s posture already showed her intention to bolt forward, yet she still took the time to caution her, “Don’t tell anyone else about this.”
“Just go already, it’s not like I’m some big gossip!” Qiao Xiangshu finally breathed a sigh of relief, calming her own breathing.
Judging by Qiao Xiangshu’s description, Chi Ling’s current condition was bound to be optimistic.
If the impact of the irregular heat cycle wasn’t severe, Chi Ling would have come straight to her, or arranged a time and place for Ming Tang to help soothe her.
The two had already developed that kind of unspoken understanding.
But now, Chi Ling’s situation had turned so serious that she had to return directly to the dormitory and have Qiao Xiangshu deliver the message.
Ming Tang’s steps toward the dormitory building grew more and more urgent. The wind howled past her ears, and her breathing lost all rhythm, turning rapid and shallow.
Having only climbed halfway up, Ming Tang already felt her legs aching terribly. For the first time, she began to detest this seemingly endless flight of stairs.
Yet Ming Tang didn’t dare to slow her pace even by a fraction. Clenching her jaw, she used one hand to grip the railing for leverage, pulling herself up floor by floor.
Gasping for air, Ming Tang raised her hand to knock on the door, but it suddenly swung open on its own.
A rich, sweet tea fragrance surged out, instantly enveloping Ming Tang.
The invisible, uncatchable pheromones were like omnipresent threads, gently wrapping around Ming Tang and binding her tighter and tighter.
“Chi Ling!”
Opening the door seemed to have drained the last of Chi Ling’s strength.
Her knees buckled, completely giving out as she fell straight into Ming Tang’s embrace.
The sudden impact caused both of them to stagger. A muffled groan escaped Ming Tang’s throat unexpectedly, but she held Chi Ling steadily, pulling her even closer.
Chi Ling’s arms subconsciously climbed upward to loop around Ming Tang’s neck, their skin pressing together and transferring a scorching body temperature.
With the tender fragrance and soft jade in her arms, Ming Tang found herself at a loss once again.
It was the first time she had ever smelled Chi Ling’s pheromones so intensely. The passionate white tea fragrance almost drowned her.
Ming Tang closed her eyes and took a deep breath, wanting to calm her current haywire heartbeat. Unexpectedly, the suddenly surging pheromones felt like a sip of strong, burning liquor, causing a more turbulent wave to rise within her already heated blood.
Ming Tang swallowed futilely a few times, but her consciousness was starting to grow hazy.
The bitter orange pheromones belonging to Ming Tang began to dissipate into the sweetened white tea fragrance, and soon, the crisp, bitter aroma was entirely submerged.
“It hurts… pheromones…” Chi Ling murmured softly, “Give me… your pheromones…”
Ming Tang shook her head, trying to clear her increasingly groggy mind, only to feel two soft, hot lips pressing against the side of her neck.
“…Don’t move around.” A flash of clarity returned to Ming Tang’s eyes. She stiffened and leaned away, her voice inevitably turning hoarse.
Controlled entirely by her heat, how could Chi Ling understand what Ming Tang was saying? She only felt that the source of comfort had suddenly moved further away.
Chi Ling whimpered and whined about her discomfort, continuing to press forward to seek out the gland at the back of Ming Tang’s neck.
Ming Tang had to split her mind three ways.
She had to release gentle, soothing pheromones to avoid stimulating Chi Ling, she had to maintain a proper distance while holding the currently boneless Chi Ling and she even had to suppress her own instincts triggered by the dense Omega pheromones.
Yet Chi Ling, entirely trapped in her heat cycle, single-mindedly desired the comfort of an Alpha. After being avoided by Ming Tang, her only thought was to keep getting closer to the Alpha before her.
Left with no choice and unable to dodge the restless Chi Ling who was clearly weak all over yet still unmanageable. Ming Tang could only raise her hand to cover the lower half of Chi Ling’s face, halting her boundaryless, reckless intimacy.
“Mmh…”
Her mouth covered, Chi Ling didn’t get angry. She merely hummed a soft, tender sound to express her dissatisfaction.
“It’s okay,” Ming Tang comforted her in a low voice. “You want pheromones, and I’ll give them to you. Just like before, don’t rush, let’s take it slow.”
Scorching breaths blew against Ming Tang’s palm, so hot that Ming Tang instinctively tightened her hand, pressing her palm directly against Chi Ling’s lips.
The clenched fingers suddenly loosened, and Ming Tang hastily withdrew her hand. Yet that soft, burning sensation remained vividly branded onto her palm.
The slightest touch was enough to make Ming Tang nearly drown in the trap the Omega had laid out specifically for her.
Looking at Chi Ling’s uncharacteristic state, Ming Tang didn’t know whether it was out of Alpha instinct or her special feelings for Chi Ling, but she felt a sudden urge to kiss those vivid, soft lips.
“Chi Ling, can you please be a bit better behaved?”
Ming Tang lowered her head and asked softly, though it didn’t quite sound like she was asking Chi Ling.
Chi Ling didn’t answer either. She merely nuzzled greedily into Ming Tang’s embrace. Her hands were pulled down from Ming Tang’s neck, yet she stubbornly looped them right back.
Ming Tang bit her lower lip hard, using the sharp sting of pain to maintain her final thread of clarity. She reached out, gathered Chi Ling’s wrists together in one hand, and held her in her arms with Chi Ling’s back facing her.
Pheromones poured unrestrainedly out from her gland, the crisp scent diluting the overly sweet white tea.
Ming Tang heard Chi Ling let out a soft, satisfied sigh.
Ming Tang couldn’t tell exactly how much time had passed, but the temperature of the person in her arms finally began to return to a normal level.
“Chi Ling.”
“Mmh…?” Chi Ling responded somewhat sluggishly.
Ming Tang’s voice carried a dry roughness from not speaking for a long time. “Don’t go to the training session later, okay? I’ll inform the mentor. You should rest in the dorm today.”
