After Breaking Up With The Wealthy Heiress - Chapter 12
Chapter 12
On Thursday night, a fine drizzle began to fall over Liucheng once again. The city cast clear yet blurry reflections upon the wet pavement; the air was humid and hot, making the outdoors feel stifling and strangely quiet.
But the sounds Tan Yunshu made in Fang Yu’s ear were louder than ever before.
Perhaps it was the hotel’s excellent soundproofing that gave Tan Yunshu such courage yes, they had taken a room.
Considering the regret of their previous encounter, Tan Yunshu eventually decided on the same hotel, just two kilometers from the firm where Fang Yu was interning, claiming she wanted to “make it up” to her.
The difference this time was that she didn’t slam the door and leave.
The curtains were drawn tight, letting not a sliver of the night seep in. Fang Yu sat on the bed, calming her breath, while the young mistress sat on her lap, gasping for air. They were pressed close together; a simple tilt of the head brought them to each other’s neck and collarbone. Their breathing was synchronized in a messy rhythm, every subtle tremor acutely captured by the other.
They had just finished another round. Only a single desk lamp was lit, its warm yellow glow haloing their faces and highlighting a thin, glistening layer of sweat.
Fang Yu’s hand rested on Tan Yunshu’s waist, her thumb tracing the skin in a slow, silent caress. After a few seconds, she leaned down, slowly pecking at Tan Yunshu’s shoulder.
“No more… Fang Yu,” Tan Yunshu’s soft, delicate voice whispered in her ear.
Fang Yu didn’t answer. She continued her kisses, turning her head to linger on the other’s neck. Tan Yunshu’s neck had elegant lines, as white as jade and smooth as silk. Mm, the texture is perfect. To avoid leaving any noticeable marks, her kisses were light, but they left the recipient shivering with itchiness.
Tan Yunshu held Fang Yu. She hadn’t fully recovered, so her eyes had been closed, but now, tickled by the kisses, she shrank back slightly. Her eyelashes fluttered twice before opening; her eyes seemed misted over, carrying a bit more allure than usual. Soon, she reached out a hand to hook around Fang Yu’s neck, forcing Fang Yu to look at her.
Without her glasses, Fang Yu looked quite different from her everyday self. Her face was pure and lovely, but now it was tinged with the scent of desire. Her eyes were half-lidded, and the faint flush at the corners of her eyes made her look like a delicious peach.
Tan Yunshu stared at her lips, which were still a bit wet. They were shaped beautifully like flower petals—the corners would press down when she was unhappy and tilt up when she was glad. No matter how you looked at them, they looked “kissable,” and the actual experience was even better than the visual.
At this moment, Fang Yu looked back at Tan Yunshu. Her lips parted slightly as she whispered, “Don’t let there be a next time, Tan Yunshu.”
She couldn’t tell if it was a plea or a notification; she only felt an unavoidable ache in her heart. Because even now, Tan Yunshu hadn’t mentioned taking a photo together. Did she simply lack the awareness? But… this wasn’t something Fang Yu felt she should be the one to bring up.
Tan Yunshu’s eyes curved slightly as she agreed, “Okay, there won’t be.”
Having said that, she leaned in, her long lashes closing like butterfly wings as she pressed against Fang Yu’s soft lips. Fang Yu received the signal, and her fingertips no longer wandered aimlessly.
Outside, the drizzle didn’t stop. The white noise lulled many into a deep sleep, but the sounds within their room continued intermittently.
Both of them slept quite soundly. When Fang Yu woke at 8:00 AM, the young mistress was still asleep typical Tan Yunshu style. Fang Yu stared for a while, then smiled faintly, reached for her glasses, and got up.
The bitterness in her heart remained, but it was far better than it had been a while ago. At least she knew Tan Yunshu cared about her.
She does care, right? Otherwise, she wouldn’t have coaxed her like that it was unprecedented. Combined with Tan Yunshu’s possessiveness as evidence that phrase “You are mine” which she had heard so many times it was hard to conclude that Tan Yunshu didn’t care.
Just like last time, Tan Yunshu woke up after Fang Yu had finished washing. She propped herself up and watched her quietly.
Fang Yu looked back, stepped closer, and asked, “Why are you awake?” It wasn’t noisy here, and her movements had been gentle.
Tan Yunshu pulled her knees up and rested her chin on them. “Nothing.” She paused for two seconds. “I won’t be able to see you for the rest of the week, Fang Yu.”
Actually, this was their usual frequency of meeting, something Fang Yu was accustomed to. But hearing Tan Yunshu phrase it that way made her feel slightly unsettled.
“It’s okay.” Fang Yu wouldn’t pry into what Tan Yunshu was busy with. Sometimes she felt the two of them were like the “snake and rose” or “lion and rabbit” mentioned in Yukio Mishima’s Madame de Sade—only “loving each other” in the night. (1)
She and Tan Yunshu ultimately belonged to two different social classes. Fang Yu had once couldn’t help but wonder what Tan Yunshu saw in her. Was it her poverty? Her obedience? Her face? Or her performance in bed?
Fang Yu had no way of knowing, so she eventually stopped thinking about it. She knew that at this stage, Tan Yunshu wouldn’t do these intimate things with anyone else only with her. This was the main reason for her massive emotional swing upon seeing that photo. Now that the misunderstanding was cleared, she and Tan Yunshu were still one-on-one. Tan Yunshu didn’t like anyone else.
As for “dating”… once Tan Yunshu graduated, it would be fine. Even if she didn’t know why Tan Yunshu had set that restriction, it didn’t stop her from feeling there was a chance. She could keep the relationship hidden from everyone, including her own mother.
For now, she couldn’t forget the Tan Yunshu who had held an umbrella for her that day. There’s a saying online: “Love is a tilted umbrella.” She thought it must be so.
Tan Yunshu maintained her posture. Hearing Fang Yu’s “It’s okay,” her brow twitched, and her tone darkened. “Why is it ‘okay’?”
“Because we were always like this. It’s only recently that the frequency has been higher.”
Fang Yu gave her honest answer. She took a few steps, took off her pajamas, and grabbed her underwear from the sofa. With her back to Tan Yunshu, she began to fasten the hooks. This time, Tan Yunshu didn’t come over to help. She watched Fang Yu’s nimble movements, an unreadable emotion flickering in her eyes.
When Fang Yu turned around, Tan Yunshu regained her playful look. “Why didn’t you let me help?”
“I’ll be late,” Fang Yu said seriously.
Tan Yunshu let out a soft laugh, sounding helpless. “Late over there, and late over here too.”
“I woke up late today.”
Tan Yunshu checked the time and threw back the covers, her nightgown dancing with her movements. “Give me a few minutes.”
“Okay.”
There was still some time left; they didn’t have to rush too much. Fang Yu found it faster to take a shared bike from here, so she wasn’t that anxious. She pulled open the curtains and opened the window. Since they were on a high floor, she couldn’t smell the post-rain dampness of the soil. All she saw was the grey sky, congested traffic, and the busy crowd.
She took a few deep breaths. Before she could turn around, Tan Yunshu embraced her waist again, the scent of mint filling her nose.
The city had long since awoken. Rainwater lingering on the leaves of street trees slowly dripped onto the hurried office workers. Various noises merged together to open the curtain of a new day. Behind the curtains where no one could peek, the two young women made the most of their time, engaged in deep and shallow kisses they didn’t want to end.
At 10:30 AM, Tan Yunshu received a call from Shen Yingzhi while driving back to the Tan residence. Shen Yingzhi was furious that Tan Yunshu hadn’t told her about going to Beijing. She called specifically to vent: “If I hadn’t seen your name on the list, how much longer were you planning to keep me in the dark?”
“Wow! Tan Yunshu! You’ve grown so distant from me!”
A charity association in Beijing had launched a seven-day cruise event and sent invitations to many entrepreneurs and celebrities. Usually, such events had nothing to do with Tan Yunshu, but this time her brother, Tan Yunxu, was taking her along.
“How can that be considered keeping you in the dark?” Tan Yunshu said airily. “I just wanted to give you a surprise, Shen Yingzhi.”
Shen Yingzhi: “Heh.”
But Tan Yunshu’s explanation pacified her slightly. Then she found it strange: “But why did your brother think of bringing you this time?”
“I don’t know.” Tan Yunshu turned the steering wheel, her emotions flat. She didn’t want to continue this topic with Shen Yingzhi. “See you tomorrow night, Yingzhi.”
“Fine. Wait, you’re out right now?” Shen Yingzhi heard the car’s music.
“Mm,” Tan Yunshu said. “Just got back from my ‘Cinnabar Mole’.”
“…Last time you called her ‘White Moonlight’.” Shen Yingzhi was speechless.
Tan Yunshu smiled, chatted a bit more, and hung up. The sky was gloomy, and so was Tan Yunshu’s mood.
Not long after, she drove into the Tan family estate. This estate was located in a high-end residential cluster in Liucheng, adjacent to several scenic areas. Surrounded by mountains and water, it occupied a prime natural ecosystem with pleasant scenery and fresh air it was a well-known luxury manor in Liucheng.
The Tan, Shen, and Liang families all lived here.
Ten minutes later, she entered the Tan villa. The hired nannies were performing their duties in uniform. She saw Fang Qin and quietly withdrew her gaze. Turning her eyes, she saw her mother, Ms. Cui Wan, napping on the sofa in front of the giant floor-to-ceiling window, and the butler, Uncle Chang, patrolling the garden outside.
The weather was bad, and the flowers in the garden looked wilted. Tan Yunshu walked over slowly, leaned down to tuck the thin blanket around her mother, and then headed up the spiral staircase.
Just as she sat down on her room’s balcony, she received a message from Fang Yu and an Alipay notification.
Xiao Yu: Transferred the room fee to you, Tan Yunshu. Xiao Yu: I will miss you very much.
Tan Yunshu looked at the messages, her lips twitching slightly. She didn’t reply. Without the person in front of her, her interest was low.
But after ten minutes, she opened her eyes, switched back to the chat with Fang Yu, and replied with a cold face: So well-behaved.
