- Chapter 6 - "In a word—yes or no?"
“I told you to pry his mouth open! What are you dazing off for?!”
“He… he…”
The lackey stammered, his simple face etched with obvious panic.
Vickery had no patience for explanations. He kicked the boy aside and personally reached out to squeeze the youth’s jaw.
The absolute suppression of an Alpha over an Ordinary person meant the youth quickly lost the struggle. His mouth was forced open unnaturally by the external pressure, acting like a vessel for wine, mechanically receiving the liquid that poured down in a torrent.
Too much wine was poured in too quickly, causing the youth to cough repeatedly.
Several trails of rich, moist crimson flowed from the corners of his lips, washing over the hand pinning his cheek and trickling down his delicate chin to his wine-flushed neck. It soaked into his thin, light-colored outer shirt, forming a prominent wet stain a sight that fell perfectly into Gao Chang’s eyes.
Vickery was a fellow student in the Mecha Department; the two of them “interacted” frequently and weren’t exactly strangers.
The youth, however, was a new face he had never seen before. Judging by the brooch on his chest, he seemed to be a junior a year below Gao Chang.
Watching the battered youth who was being bullied without the power to resist, Gao Chang’s heart tightened for no reason. His gaze inadvertently met the light-colored eyes at the center of the vortex, and they locked onto each other for a long time.
The calm he had carefully built-up layer by layer collapsed into dust.
He immediately drew his M9306 micro-pistol and pulled the trigger.
Bang—
In an instant, a streak of blue-violet light grazed a stray lock of brown curly hair at the back of Vickery’s head and embedded itself into the wall at the end of the corridor. Considering the tedious prohibitions of the Imperial Military Academy, he didn’t aim for Vickery’s vitals.
“?!!”
The group mid-assault froze instantly, their faces turning pale as their eyes snapped toward the culprit.
The moment he recognized the figure stepping out from the corner, Vickery was stunned, and his grip on the youth loosened slightly.
“I was wondering who had the nerve to spoil my fun. It turns out to be our old acquaintance—the profligate young master with a head full of nothing but playboy thoughts.” He narrowed his eyes, glancing at Gao Chang’s lower body with a sneer hanging on his lips. “What’s the matter? Instead of coaxing your little lovers in bed, you’ve come to my territory to act wild? Can they not satisfy you, or can you not satisfy them?”
At this, the lackeys erupted into raucous laughter, their voices echoing through the empty corridor.
Gao Chang arched an eyebrow, completely unaffected. He looked Vickery straight in the eye and said suggestively, “That’s not it. A bit of fun in bed can’t compare to the thrill of a good show. Not only can I watch it live, but I can also sell it to the major media outlets. Let everyone in the Empire see the true face of the Alvig family’s eldest grandson, Vickery Alvig.”
“You think they’ll believe you based on a few baseless lies?” The contempt on Vickery’s face faded visibly. He put his hands behind his back, signaling the other lackeys to block Xing Xiyan from view.
No one knew better than he what the consequences would be if this matter gained traction on the Star Network. Public condemnation meant nothing to him, and if he were expelled from the military academy, he could simply change schools. However, the Patriarch’s wrath could bury his entire future.
This was the real reason why, no matter how much he hated that “wild brat” at home, he only dared to strike in places where the family’s spies weren’t planted.
The corners of Gao Chang’s mouth curled up. He lazily raised the silver metal ring on his wrist, which was glowing with a red light. “My optical computer has been recording for over ten minutes. Do you think they’ll believe it or not?!”
From the moment the two lackeys restrained the youth to Vickery forcing the wine down… not a single frame of the necessary footage was missing.
“You dared to film us secretly?!” The veins on Vickery’s temples bulged. He shot a look at the lackeys beside him, preparing to snatch the device by force, but Gao Chang saw through it instantly.
He aimed the barrel at the center of Vickery’s forehead, his tone casual. “I suggest you don’t try anything funny. If I run into trouble, this bracelet will automatically trigger an alarm mode. By then, your offense against your brother and against me won’t be as simple as being posted online. Besides, your life might not be as valuable as mine.”
He didn’t know much about the Alvig family, but he hadn’t missed the basic intelligence. That ancient family, which was powerful enough to rival the Imperial Family, seemed glorious, but it had been plagued by internal strife for centuries and placed extreme emphasis on “survival of the fittest.” This was because the position of Patriarch wasn’t restricted to direct bloodlines; even collateral branches had equal rights to compete.
For someone like Vickery, even with direct blood, there were likely many competitors in his generation. If he died unexpectedly, he’d probably be replaced by another heir in a very short time.
As if hit in the vitals by Gao Chang’s last sentence, Vickery’s face turned from white to green, showing a look of humiliation. He used a handkerchief handed over by a lackey to wipe the red wine from between his fingers. “Name your price.”
Gao Chang’s gaze moved past the two burly Alphas to the huddled figure on the floor. “Simple. Leave your brother behind.”
Vickery’s hand trembled. “What do you mean?!”
“I can choose not to upload your business to the Star Network, on the condition that you trade your brother!” Thinking Vickery hadn’t understood, Gao Chang pointed to the youth on the ground and repeated himself.
Vickery cast a glance behind him, filled with doubt. “You know each other?!” How did he not know that the waste Xing Xiyan had actually hooked up with the Gao family?
“Of course… I don’t.” Gao Chang twirled the short pistol in his hand. “It’s just that I truly can’t bear to watch him be ruined by a bunch of bastards like you who don’t know how to cherish a beauty.”
Hearing Gao Chang’s clear concern for the “wild brat” Xing Xiyan, Vickery couldn’t help but laugh mockingly. “Truly living up to your reputation. You can even develop a lustful heart for a piece of waste!”
All that talk with the gun and the threats after circling around so much, it turned out he was just infatuated with Xing Xiyan’s face.
Gao Chang lifted his eyelids, hitting back without showing weakness. “That’s right. Thanks to you, the ‘big brother,’ I was able to see your brother’s moving side. I should thank you for that.”
“You…” Vickery choked. The insult he was about to spit out got stuck in his throat, neither going up nor down.
Hearing the two of them using him as a bargaining chip, the youth lying on the ground trembled. He pushed against the floor with his palms to stand up, but the drug mixed in the wine took effect. His vision blurred, and he fell back heavily.
Gao Chang didn’t miss the subtle sounds coming from behind the two lackeys. He didn’t want to waste any more time dealing with Vickery. “I’m not a very patient person. In a word yes or no?”
“As long as you delete the recording, he’s yours!” Vickery couldn’t wait for someone else to deal with Xing Xiyan. Taking the opportunity to throw that “hot potato” out of the family early, he proposed the counter-condition without hesitation the moment Gao Chang finished speaking.
As for Xing Xiyan’s “purity,” it was no longer within his consideration.
To his surprise, the request he just made was rejected by Gao Chang in the next second. “Impossible.”
Vickery’s eyes widened. “What did you say?!”
Gao Chang blinked innocently. “I only gave you a choice between ‘handing your brother over to me’ and ‘not uploading your video to the Star Network.’ I never said I would delete the video.”
“You… you’re simply shameless!!” Vickery’s fists were tightly clenched, and his jaw creaked. He was beyond livid. He had heard that Gao Chang was a profligate brainless fool who liked to play with Omegas’ feelings, but he never expected the other party to have such a shameless side, actually daring to try and “trap a white wolf with empty hands”!
Even more infuriating was that, currently, he couldn’t even find a way to deal with him.
“Such a good leverage shouldn’t be handed over so quickly, right?! Don’t worry, until I think of the next condition, I won’t leak a single word of your dirty laundry.” Gao Chang’s tone was leisurely, completely ignoring Vickery’s bluster.
“Remember what you said today. Let’s go!” Vickery wanted to rush forward and beat him up but was wary of the other’s unpredictable behavior. His expression shifted repeatedly. After weighing his options, he finally threw Xing Xiyan aside and left with his lackeys in a huff.
Once the silhouettes of Vickery and his lackeys disappeared at the end of the corridor, Gao Chang put the pistol back into its holster.
Because the drug was taking effect, the youth was now curled up with his eyes tightly shut, his teeth biting his lower lip hard. A red flush spread from his cheeks all the way down his neck. The tiny blood vessels under his skin were faintly visible, bulging in shallow curves. Within that noble and refined aura was a trace of captivating decadence.
Even though Gao Chang had lived in this world for over twenty years and had seen countless beauties, he couldn’t help but be stunned by this sight. For a few short seconds, he even forgot to breathe.
He knelt down and reached out to wipe the residue from the youth’s face.
In the next instant, the youth raised a slender, gaunt hand and violently slapped away the handkerchief he offered.
“Get… out…”
Xing Xiyan’s eyelids were halfway open. In his brown eyes, which were saturated with desire, a flash of wariness flickered.
Gao Chang didn’t get angry at the youth’s ungrateful behavior. He cleared his throat and offered a subtle reminder. “It’s not that I want to say it, but in your current situation, just holding it in won’t help.”
The youth’s current state was very similar to an Omega in heat. Clearly, Vickery’s bottle of wine had been mixed with other things, such as drugs containing heat-inducing components.
Fortunately, the other party was an ordinary person who hadn’t entered differentiation; he wouldn’t have any physiological effect on Gao Chang beyond the visual impact. Otherwise, with such a lethal face, if he were truly an Omega in heat, Gao Chang might not be able to maintain his reason like this. Worse, he might have devolved into a beast with nothing but the desire to mark in his head.
“…”
Xing Xiyan turned his head away, arching his back and tightening his trembling lower limbs. He struggled to suppress the strange heat rushing through his body with the few remains of his reason.
Crimson beads of blood welled up from his bitten lip, accompanied by an uncontrollable, broken low moan that flickered past Gao Chang’s field of vision.
Seeing that the youth intended to hold out until the end, Gao Chang’s heart softened. Without a word, he put his arm around the youth’s waist to support him and walked toward the elevators.
Sensing the youth’s struggle to break free, he quickly stabilized his posture, grabbed the other’s hands firmly, and explained quickly, “Hey, don’t be afraid. I’m just taking you to a guest room to rest. It’s not safe to keep lying here. I promise! I won’t do anything to you. Ahem… at least, not without your consent.”
