- After Breaking Up with the Alpha Villain, I was Forcibly Marked
- Chapter 12 - His Touch
“Xing Xiyan, I have something to say!”
Spotting that familiar, solitary figure in the hallway, Gao Yang’s face lit up with joy. He immediately pulled the youth into a sparsely populated stairwell.
Xing Xiyan’s breathing deepened, and his fingertips curled instinctively. “What do you want to say?”
Gao Yang didn’t beat around the bush. “About what I said before you mentioned you’d consider it. It’s been so long now; shouldn’t you give me an answer?!”
When he had confessed to Xing Xiyan that day, the youth had unusually refrained from rejecting him outright, but he hadn’t given a clear answer either. He had simply brushed him off with a “let me think about it” and then left him hanging, disappearing for over half a month.
This time, Gao Yang was determined to get a result!
The Alpha had exceptionally beautiful eyes; the outer corners tilted upward naturally, giving them a touch of innate charm. Those blue pupils were like a clear, bottomless lake, staring at him unblinkingly. His thoughts were like fish in the water faintly visible and easy to read.
Xing Xiyan did not immediately state his position. Instead, he reached out toward the top of the Alpha’s head and plucked a yellow-green leaf from between the strands of hair, toying with it with interest.
The commotion he had caused that day had been witnessed by the family servants, who leaked the news. When that Omega found out, she fanned the flames and blew the matter out of proportion, disturbing the head of the household. Consequently, Xing Xiyan had been grounded for ten days.
After his punishment ended, he hadn’t chosen to return to the military academy the next day. Instead, he delayed his appearance by another week.
He had thought that after so many days, the Alpha would have lost patience and started looking for someone new. He hadn’t expected the man to still be waiting for his answer.
He was surprisingly well-behaved.
“I’ll just say it plainly: even if you reject me this time, I won’t give up!”
Gao Yang glanced at the leaf between Xing Xiyan’s fingers. Assuming the youth wanted to use the same old excuses to stall him, he decided to make his stance clear first.
“Alright. I accept.”
The corners of Xing Xiyan’s mouth curled into a tiny arc. A few strands of his light-colored hair were ruffled by the breeze, revealing his exquisite, sharply defined brows.
Gao Yang scratched the tip of his burning ear, asking back with a hint of uncertainty, “Really? No regrets?”
Xing Xiyan had actually agreed to date him?!
The “Protagonist Shou” he had been pursuing for two weeks the mission he’d made zero progress on for twenty-two years was finally on the right track? Was the countdown to success beginning?!
Before the joy in his eyes could turn into a boisterous cheer, Xing Xiyan’s slender, well-proportioned index finger pressed against his slightly parted lips. “However, I have one condition…”
“Name it.”
Gao Yang swallowed hard and hurriedly pulled down the hand resting on his lips. He used the interruption as an excuse to hide his erratic heartbeat.
Without a doubt, Xing Xiyan possessed a flawless, peerless face that hit every one of his aesthetic preferences. A single frown or a breath from the youth could unintentionally stir his emotions something he had never felt with other Omegas.
However, a mission was just a mission. Before confirming the other’s feelings, he didn’t dare carelessly lose his heart.
Carefully feeling the warmth from their touching fingers, Xing Xiyan narrowed his eyes. “The premise is… I’m the one on top.”
“Ha! What kind of joke is that?!”
Gao Yang was stunned. He had imagined Xing Xiyan might demand a public proposal or ask him to help seek revenge against the Elvage family. He never imagined the youth would make this specific request.
As the “Protagonist Shou,” to have so little self-awareness as to tell him he wanted to be the top—that was just too bizarre!
Was Xing Xiyan’s understanding of his own “position” unclear, or had Gao Yang not acted “top” enough lately, giving the youth some sort of delusion?
A few obscure, unreadable dark glints flickered in the youth’s eyes. “You aren’t willing?”
Gao Yang’s head nodded furiously or rather, every hair on his body was screaming “no!” “Of course not!”
How could he be willing?
Setting aside the fact that he had never been the one on the bottom, in every sense of the word, he was a pure Alpha. His physiological structure was worlds apart from an Omega’s. If he really took the bottom role, wouldn’t it hurt like hell?
Sensing that the youth seemed a bit unhappy, he quickly reined in his wild thoughts and adopted a pleading tone. “Can we discuss this? How about a different condition?”
“No.” Xing Xiyan was unmoved. “The one down there… is too dirty. I don’t like it.”
Hearing his reasoning, Gao Yang was left in a state of disarray. “Wait, I… how is it… how is it dirty?!”
Was he being… disgusted by Xing Xiyan?
He was actually being rejected for being “dirty”?!
“The Star Network says you’ve changed playmates fifty-six times in the last few years. You must have been with those Omegas quite a few times.”
Xing Xiyan looked at the leaf that had been crushed into countless tiny pieces in his palm. His voice held a hint of jealousy that even surprised himself.
A new boyfriend every week, only to search for a “perfect substitute” among different Omegas. Once the novelty wore off, he would leave and never look back. He was both affectionate and heartless, decadent and selfish.
“Those are all fake news stories fabricated by unscrupulous media just to get clicks! They’re slandering me!”
Learning that his dead “black history” was the culprit behind the Protagonist Shou’s desire to “revolt” and take the top position, Gao Yang’s face flushed red with anger.
He didn’t realize that his red-faced, desperate explanation looked exactly like the shame and anger of someone who had been “caught in the act.” It was not at all convincing to Xing Xiyan.
“Senior’s love is only worth this much, it seems.” Xing Xiyan brushed the debris off his hands, and his gaze toward Gao Yang suddenly became distant. “Since you aren’t willing, there’s nothing more to say.”
Gao Yang’s heart tightened at that unfamiliar look. “Can’t we just try dating casually for a bit first? As for what you mentioned… why don’t we talk about it later?”
He could tell that with Xing Xiyan’s personality, if things fell through this time, getting close again would be harder than reaching the stars, let alone completing the mission.
Xing Xiyan lowered his eyes, letting his bangs hide the dark undercurrents within them. He spoke in a haunting tone: “Is that how Senior used to coax them as well?”
“No… nothing of the sort.”
Hearing the youth put it that way, Gao Yang felt a strange sense of guilt.
Just as he was racking his brain for a way to smooth things over, Xing Xiyan spoke again: “Senior should find someone else. I’m a normal person with physiological needs. Toward the person I like, I cannot be ‘desireless’ as you suggest.”
What he wanted was absolute possession.
Sensing that the youth truly intended to break off all ties, Gao Yang pressed his aching brow and decided to take a step back. “Does it have to be a fixed position? Can’t we take turns?”
If he had known beforehand that the “Protagonist Shou” was a relationship perfectionist with a “cleanliness” complex, he would have spent his entire fortune to gag those media outlets and keep them from leaking a single word.
The only response he received was an expressionless glance from the youth. Then, Xing Xiyan turned to leave with decisive, crisp footsteps.
Seeing Xing Xiyan move to cut ties immediately, Gao Yang panicked. He spread his arms and legs to block the youth’s path. “The bottom, right? Fine, the bottom it is! I’m willing!”
It was just sacrificing himself for his career; what was so hard to accept! Xing Xiyan was just a normal person; even if he differentiated into an Omega, he’d be frail and weak. Gao Yang was an Alpha; in terms of physical strength and everything else, he clearly held the upper hand. The youth couldn’t possibly do much to him.
Before he could finish his mental preparation, Xing Xiyan suddenly raised a hand against his chest and pushed hard, forcing him into the corner.
Thud. Gao Yang’s head hit the cold alloy wall, making a dull sound.
“Holy shit, why did you push me?”
He rubbed the back of his head and, unsurprisingly, felt a small bump forming. Just as he was about to sharply demand what kind of nerve Xing Xiyan was hitting, the youth was one step ahead. He gripped Gao Yang’s neck and pinned him firmly against the wall.
A hot, humid kiss took advantage of the opening, completely sealing his breath.
