Chapter 26: The Deal – Is She Hooked?
Xu Yinyu quickly passed out from exhaustion, having focused her mind intensely and overspent her energy.
The utility knife tightly clenched in her hand naturally dropped.
Yu Shujin’s gaze sharpened for a moment. She carried Xu Yinyu to the back seat and picked up the utility knife.
As she stood up and looked towards the top floor of the building, she made eye contact with Shen Nianyan across the distance.
A sense of inevitable victory spread in both women’s eyes.
The ink-like colors were vivid and striking. Yu Shujin’s triumph, though cautiously suppressed, spilled over from the corners of her mouth that she couldn’t control.
“Platinum Court, Uncle Li,” Yu Shujin’s mouth curved slightly. She held Xu Yinyu tightly next to her and buried her face in the other’s neck. Smelling a mix of messy odors, her brow subconsciously furrowed, and her teeth involuntarily ground together, yet she only lingered on Xu Yinyu’s pale neck for a moment.
But Xu Yinyu’s entire body was almost completely embraced by Yu Shujin.
The satisfaction of having recovered what she lost flowed deeply through her body at this moment, planting an insignificant seed in her heart, slowly nurtured by Yu Shujin’s emotions.
However, due to Yu Shujin’s subconscious concealment and premeditated deception, they missed their last chance to open their hearts and truly understand each other.
Yu Shujin would never have thought that the very thing she went to such lengths to obtain, Xu Yinyu had offered her the method for from the start and had never truly refused her closeness.
It made her act like a lawless, mischievous child, demanding one hundred percent attention from Xu Yinyu, lest she be disappointed.
She wanted to receive one hundred percent of Xu Yinyu’s love, but none of Xu Yinyu’s hesitation or difficulty expressing herself.
She was like a demanding, privileged young lady, using her own means and affection, bit by bit, to train the person she loved into the temperament she desired.
She never once asked Xu Yinyu’s opinion.
In her dream, the thunder rolled, rumbling loudly. A pale light flashed outside the ward. Xu Yinyu hugged her knees, hiding in the corner of the room, her eyes cast downwards. She only dared to look at her feet.
Suddenly, an unknown, soft, cold, damp, red organism coiled around her ankle.
Xu Yinyu screamed in fear, struggling with her hands to tear off the tentacles. But it was counterproductive; after the tentacles were torn, they didn’t disappear but multiplied, wrapping around her thighs, her waist, her hands, her neck, and her mouth.
The slippery, sticky sensation was terrifying and spine-chilling.
Xu Yinyu wanted to call for help, but the tentacles covered her mouth. She tried to struggle to draw attention but saw a sinister face lurking in the darkness.
Xu Yinyu abruptly woke up from the nightmare.
She found her face wet. She tried to wipe it with her hand but grabbed Yu Shujin’s hand instead. She slightly straightened her body, naturally pulling away from Yu Shujin.
Yu Shujin noticed Xu Yinyu waking up and squeezed the back of her hand. “Had a nightmare?”
Xu Yinyu wiped her face with her other hand, realizing it was tears.
Hearing Yu Shujin’s question, she instinctively nodded in response.
Yu Shujin was silent for a while, looking at Xu Yinyu with affection and guilt.
Xu Yinyu was taken aback, her face flushed. She waved her hand. “Don’t overthink it, it has nothing to do with you.”
“How could it have nothing to do with it?” Yu Shujin’s voice became muffled, her eyes obscured by her loose hair.
Xu Yinyu couldn’t see the emotion on her face but sensed the other’s intense unease and lingering fear.
“If it weren’t for me, if it weren’t for the Yu family, you wouldn’t have been kidnapped, you wouldn’t have suffered. A-Yu, blame me. I won’t resent you.” Yu Shujin suddenly threw herself onto Xu Yinyu.
Xu Yinyu couldn’t handle it and pushed her slightly. “Alright, I don’t blame you. Although it was really scary, how could you guard against a secret thief unless you can predict the future? Hurry up and get off, I can’t breathe.”
Yu Shujin’s eyes dimmed. Listening to Xu Yinyu speak with a forced lightness, her heart was tightly gripped. She looked at the familiar, paper-pale face before her, which was struggling to joke. A strange feeling emerged from between her bones.
She lowered her voice, wanting to say something to comfort Xu Yinyu, but she couldn’t open her mouth.
“What’s wrong?”
Xu Yinyu asked with concern, seeing the sudden somberness in Yu Shujin’s expression.
Yu Shujin rubbed her eyes, got up from Xu Yinyu, pursed her lips, and said softly, “It won’t happen again.”
Xu Yinyu looked confused. “What?”
“I won’t let you be in danger again.” Yu Shujin rested her head on Xu Yinyu’s shoulder, looked up and gently kissed her, following the line of Xu Yinyu’s jaw, moving up to capture Xu Yinyu’s lips.
Yu Shujin gently licked, her beautiful, bright eyes making hearts intoxicated.
Xu Yinyu subconsciously hugged Yu Shujin back, glancing at the partition screen. She placed her hands on Yu Shujin’s neck, responding actively for the first time.
Yu Shujin’s heart was utterly intoxicated.
The kisses they had shared before—when hiding in the hot building, the old fan blowing, sitting on the bamboo mat, their bodies rubbing together—were sweet and tempting.
At this moment, the feelings suppressed for eight years finally vaporized into the air with the intoxicating scent of alcohol, brewing into a more alluring and delicious vintage delicacy.
Just this taste made her forget that trace of hesitation and regret in her heart.
Xu Yinyu backed away slightly.
Yu Shujin immediately chased after her, using a more aggressive posture to hold the back of Xu Yinyu’s head, keeping the person firmly in the palm of her hand at all times.
Finally, she was forcefully pushed away by Xu Yinyu, who was breathing heavily. “Can you… not be so clingy when kissing?”
Yu Shujin looked at the shimmering water in Xu Yinyu’s eyes, tilted her head, and smiled. “Clingy? Shouldn’t you be praising my kissing skills?”
Xu Yinyu was speechless. The car stopped just in time, interrupting their strange direction. She quickly said, “We’ve arrived. Let’s get out.”
Yu Shujin lazily got out of the car, extending a hand to help Xu Yinyu.
Xu Yinyu was eager to shower and wash up. She walked two steps after getting out and realized Yu Shujin was still standing there, unmoving.
Xu Yinyu saw Yu Shujin’s outstretched hand, looked around—there were only a few nearby bodyguards and Uncle Li—and reluctantly returned to pull Yu Shujin along.
“So unromantic,” the melancholic Yu Shujin complained behind her, like an arrogant, expensive Ragdoll cat, beautiful, picky, and intolerant of any neglect.
Xu Yinyu was overwhelmed by drowsiness and could only stiffly execute the commands in her mind.
The two finally returned to the master bedroom together. Yu Shujin immediately buried her face in Xu Yinyu’s neck, sniffing deeply. Only after confirming Xu Yinyu’s body scent was the same hyacinth fragrance as hers did she contentedly turn off the bedside lamp, hold the person in her arms, and fall into a deep sleep.
Shen Nianyan and Xu Ruoying sat opposite each other at the negotiation table, their eyes dark and unreadable.
Shen Nianbai, who had been shot with a tranquilizer, now sat next to Shen Nianyan, fully awake, showing no trace of having fainted.
Finally, Xu Ruoying pushed a USB drive towards Shen Nianyan, and Shen Nianyan signed the letter of commitment and guarantee agreement.
On the surface, both parties appeared wounded and fiercely opposed, but in reality, they were already tightly bound by mutual interests. This transaction only served to deepen and accelerate their cooperation.
After Xu Ruoying left, Shen Nianbai picked up the USB drive with her arms crossed, a smile gracing her lips. “I can’t believe the thing we’ve been pursuing for so long was so easily obtained just by acting out a villain’s script.”
Shen Nianqing snatched the USB drive from Shen Nianbai’s hand. “A successful outcome is completeness. Why are you overthinking it?”
“Second Sister, don’t you think Yu Shujin is gentle and mild in public, ruthless and vicious in business, but unusually vulnerable in front of that young woman?”
She didn’t even dare to let her subordinates speak loudly.
Shen Nianqing glanced at her. “Otherwise?”
“Otherwise what?” Shen Nianbai still hadn’t grasped it. “She made us play the villains and then acted as the hero to save the beauty. Damn, she wouldn’t have fallen for Miss Xu, would she?”
Shen Nianyan and Shen Nianqing both rolled their eyes.
“Then I truly want to know why else she would do it if she didn’t like her. Did she just want to scare people purely for fun?” Shen Nianqing was exasperated into laughter.
Shen Nianbai’s innocent, puppy-like eyes looked guileless at the moment. “Is liking someone that complicated? Wouldn’t it be easier to just snatch them and lock them up?”
Shen Nianqing frowned slightly. She and Shen Nianyan had long been immersed in the business world, unwilling to treat people genuinely. When desire arose, they simply found a solution, never having taught Shen Nianbai a correct view of love.
However, being born into the Shen family, perhaps having a correct view of love would be a greater disaster.
So, she kept silent.
She only said vaguely, “You’ll know once you fall for someone.”
Shen Nianbai ‘oh-ed.’ Her bright, round eyes looked like a damp moon, but her sharp face carried an inherent aura of menace.
Her mere presence exuded a powerful sense of oppression.
She strode out of the meeting room and closed the door behind her.
“Eldest Sister, I’m going to lead the team to research this new biotechnology,” Shen Nianqing said.
Shen Nianyan made a gesture to wait. “Don’t you feel that Yu Shujin was a little too easy to talk to this time?”
Shen Nianqing paused. “Eldest Sister doesn’t trust what she gave us? Should we still continue the research based on this?”
“I haven’t decided yet. I just don’t believe in my heart that Yu Shujin would make such a huge concession for one woman.” Shen Nianyan pondered. “The main thing is, she’s not the type of person who takes losses.”
“That’s true. I was highly suspicious before, too. But when I saw her disregard everything and break into this place just to take that young woman away, I thought she might actually be hooked.”
“Furthermore, we didn’t inform her of the time and place of the snatching beforehand, only showing our hand at the very last moment. Even if she wanted to scheme, she didn’t have enough time.”
Shen Nianqing reasoned.
Shen Nianyan’s furrowed brow remained for a long time. “Perhaps I’m overthinking. Our plan was flawless to begin with.”
Shen Nianqing gripped the USB drive, smiling. “And it’s also thanks to her being hooked this time.”
Shen Nianyan relaxed her expression, looking out over the long, dark night. “Yes. This time, I am determined to restore the Shen Group to its former glory.”
Xu Yinyu woke up to find herself alone. She reached out and felt the space next to her was still cool, so Yu Shujin must have left some time ago.
She slowly washed up, noticing a medical bandage on the spot where her skin was grazed yesterday.
She pursed her lips, looking at herself in the mirror, smiling with a mouth full of toothpaste foam.
After washing up, Xu Yinyu immediately sent Yu Shujin a text message.
A-Yu: Thank you for taking care of my wound ˙˙
Yu Shujin took a sip of cold water on the set, sitting in the business car. When her phone suddenly vibrated with the special contact notification, the hand reaching to cap the bottle immediately changed direction, picking up the phone.
The lips of the cold and beautiful immortal curved slightly, and the bright light scattered across her face. At that moment, the bonds of love fell into the mortal world, and all sin was buried in the abyss, revealing only the beauty of the immortal’s disguise.
