Chapter 24: Kidnapping – I Forgive You.

Xu Yinyu had not seen Yu Shujin for two straight months, and her life had become relaxed and comfortable.

She often didn’t stay in her hospital room.

Xu Ruoying frequently ran into Xu Yinyu in Ms. Xu Fanghua’s room.

She would be wearing loose patient clothes, sitting alone by the bed with a straight back, holding a tablet and drawing digitally.

Xu Ruoying pushed the door open, then knocked twice on the doorframe. “Doctor’s rounds.”

Xu Yinyu didn’t even bother to lift her eyelids. “How much longer will my mother’s coma last?”

“Aunt Xu’s coma is due to cerebral cortex damage caused by the car accident and subsequent neurological failure. Her organs are now showing signs of deterioration. If we force her to wake up, it will only accelerate her physical decline and lead to a faster death,” Xu Ruoying answered calmly while checking the patient’s condition.

Xu Yinyu lowered her eyes, her eyelashes drooping like butterfly wings. “I see. Thank you, Doctor Xu.”

“Miss Xu, please return to your room and rest soon. Don’t use the tablet for too long; electronic products are not good for your eyes,” Xu Ruoying said coldly, reluctantly conveying Yu Shujin’s reminder as a messenger.

Xu Yinyu replied, “I’ll go back in a little while.”

Xu Ruoying glanced at the monitor screen with exasperation. She monitors every detail.

In the evening, the drizzle turned into a heavy downpour. Several sharp flashes of lightning pierced the dark night and the curtains, followed by loud, roaring thunder, one after another, intimidating and powerful.

Xu Yinyu rubbed her eyes, listening to the rumbling thunder outside the window. Her heart trembled. A bolt of lightning flashed, immediately followed by a thunderous blast, as if a hole had been torn in the edge of the sky.

She pressed a hand to her frantic chest, turned on the bedside lamp. The soft yellow light dispelled a layer of darkness, and the sounds around her seemed amplified in her ears.

A rhythmic set of footsteps suddenly echoed in the quiet hallway.

Xu Yinyu’s half-asleep state vanished instantly when she realized the footsteps had stopped right outside her door.

She tiptoed out of bed barefoot, taking the small knife from under her pillow and tucking it into the sheath strapped to her leg, then grabbed the fruit knife from the side. Her expression was tense and focused as she pressed herself against the corner of the wall.

The ward door was opened. A woman with hair soaked from the rain pushed the door open, moving lightly and heading straight for the bed. She touched it, found no one, and stamped her foot.

Xu Yinyu clutched the fruit knife and carefully walked along the wall in the darkness. Seeing that the strange woman hadn’t noticed her, she made a dash for the door, intending to leave immediately.

However, the woman behind her wrapped her arms around her waist and covered her mouth.

The fruit knife tightly held in Xu Yinyu’s hand struggled, and though unskilled, she used all her strength to stab the stranger’s lower abdomen.

Xu Yinyu heard a slight yelp of pain near her ear.

Taking advantage of the stranger’s injury, she continuously kicked the door with her legs, attempting to attract the attention of passersby.

But in the next second, the woman behind her struck her hard with a hand chop, knocking her unconscious. The cold lips moved slightly. “Quite feisty.”

Shen Nianbai put the person into a sack, hoisted her onto her back, secured her with a rope, then pulled out a miniature device for smashing glass. With a lift of her hand, the window glass shattered. She used the gap to jump out with Xu Yinyu on her back.

Less than ten minutes after Xu Yinyu’s disappearance, Yu Shujin received a photo from the kidnapping mastermind.

One moment, she was hanging on wires on the film set, the next, the bodyguard assigned to protect Xu Yinyu called, and she learned that Xu Yinyu had been abducted by an organized and purposeful kidnapping group.

Yu Shujin suppressed the panic within her, calmly giving instructions. “Immediately investigate the background and identities of the kidnapping group. Also, prepare a contingency fund.”

While speaking, Yu Shujin stripped off her acting costume, changed into neat trousers and a tight shirt, exchanged a look with Chi Xia, and immediately got into the car, leaving the set.

The downpour hadn’t stopped. Yu Shujin’s car sped like lightning across the road, rushing to the hospital to meet Xu Ruoying.

Before reaching the destination, Yu Shujin’s phone rang violently. She snapped out of her unknown panic, picked up the phone. The caller ID was from an unknown region.

Only the person who kidnapped Xu Yinyu would call her at this hour without showing their region.

She immediately answered, “Hello.”

She tried her best to suppress the tremor in her voice.

“Boss Yu finally agrees to take my call.” It was a familiar female voice, mixed with the loud sounds of thunder and rain.

Shen Nianyan signaled Shen Nianbai to wake up the unconscious Xu Yinyu.

Shen Nianbai pursed her lips, opened a bottle of mineral water, and poured it over Xu Yinyu’s head from top to bottom.

Xu Yinyu instantly woke up. Her hands were tied. She struggled, then saw three women looking at her.

But she thought she heard Yu Shujin’s voice.

Yu Shujin immediately realized what the person who kidnapped Xu Yinyu wanted.

“Boss Shen, what are you doing?”

Shen Nianyan stood in the tallest building in S City, overlooking the entire business district. She stood there confidently and spoke to Yu Shujin, “You know what I want, and I just happen to know the person Boss Yu cares about most. Why don’t we sit down and talk about a deal calmly, a mutually beneficial and friendly deal?”

Yu Shujin gripped her painfully throbbing chest, forcing her tone to be low and cold. “Do you think I would trade the Yu family’s classified technology for a useless toy?”

Shen Nianyan switched the phone call to speakerphone. Xu Yinyu could hear clearly.

“I can give you money, Boss Shen. That is my bottom line.” When Yu Shujin heard Xu Yinyu’s voice, her eyes instantly turned red. The red light came on ahead, she slammed on the brakes, violently hit the steering wheel, and buried her face in her hands, silent tears falling like broken pearls.

“How can I let Boss Yu pay? A transcendent beauty like Miss Xu is difficult for me to acquire even with vast sums of money. Since she’s just a toy to you, why don’t you treat her as a generous gift and let me play with her for two days, then I’ll send her back to you.” Shen Nianyan glanced at Xu Yinyu, her eyes like the sharpest curved knives and the most vicious python. She reached out and caressed Xu Yinyu’s vulnerable neck, her touch chillingly cold.

There was silence on the other end.

Shen Nianyan seemed to have found her pressure point and wasn’t in a hurry for an immediate answer, still smiling gently and softly. “Boss Yu, if you don’t speak, I’ll take it as your default.”

“You know how much I enjoy cherishing girls.”

Xu Yinyu felt her fragile neck encircled by a poisonous snake. She wanted to struggle but was deterred by the two women in front and behind her.

“Shen Nianyan!” Yu Shujin roared.

“Why is Boss Yu angry?” Shen Nianyan hooked her fingers into Xu Yinyu’s hair and said frankly, “Isn’t it better for us to be amicable and generate wealth? I really don’t understand your Yu family’s mentality of wanting to monopolize everything.”

“My patience is also limited. I have tried talking to Boss Yu in various ways before, but they all ended in failure. If this time fails again, I really can’t guarantee what I will do.”

“After all, everyone knows that all of us in the Shen family are crazy.” Shen Nianyan laughed maniacally.

“I want to hear her voice,” Yu Shujin said, word by word.

“Hahahaha,” Shen Nianyan, confident with the hostage in hand, readily agreed. “Fine.”

Shen Nianbai, receiving Shen Nianyan’s instruction, released Xu Yinyu, who had been struggling and making muffled sounds.

Shen Nianyan looked at Xu Yinyu gently. “Beauty, speak.”

Xu Yinyu looked at Shen Nianyan’s greedy, snake-like eyes. She heard Yu Shujin’s voice from the other end of the phone, slightly distorted by static. “A-Yu, tell me, what do you want most?”

Everyone present frowned.

Xu Yinyu, however, showed no sign of despair. She smiled and said, “I want your forgiveness.”

Yu Shujin laughed on the other line, her chest heaving up and down, and clear tears beaded on her curved lips.

Xu Yinyu laughed back at her. “Stop laughing, your laugh sounds terrible.”

Yu Shujin replied, “Okay, I forgive you.”

A flicker of light crossed Xu Yinyu’s eyes.

Shen Nianyan retrieved the phone with a cold look. “Boss Yu, when can we meet to discuss?”

Yu Shujin had already hung up the phone.

Everyone’s expressions changed. Shen Nianyan threw the phone away, forcefully grabbed Xu Yinyu’s collar, and said dangerously, “What did you say to her!”

Xu Yinyu scoffed. “Give up. She and I have long since broken up. Everyone who knows us knows she wishes I’d die outside. I’m just a useful scapegoat she found.”

Shen Nianbai stood with her arms crossed, her expression unmoved. “I’ve done a thorough investigation. She is absolutely important to Yu Shujin, Eldest Sister. We must not panic. Yu Shujin will definitely come to save her.”

Shen Nianqing, who had been observing the monitor nearby, spoke coldly. “It’s just a woman, after all. How can she be worth more than actual gold and silver? Third Sister, your actions this time are truly ridiculous.”

Shen Nianbai glared back. “Second Sister’s previous gun exchange incident, which nearly caused our Shen Group to collapse, wasn’t ridiculous.”

“Enough!” Shen Nianyan didn’t want to hear any more pointless squabbling. “Keep a close eye on her. I don’t believe Yu Shujin is invulnerable, or that even an embroidery needle can’t pierce her.”

Xu Yinyu smiled faintly, her expression calm.

Shen Nianbai looked at her with displeasure. “You still have the nerve to smile. If Yu Shujin really doesn’t come, we’ll execute you immediately and dump you into the deep sea to feed the sharks.”

“She won’t come. You can execute me now,” Xu Yinyu said gently, curling her legs slightly. There was no longing for life in her eyes, only the relief of being executed.

Shen Nianbai cursed under her breath. “Don’t try to die on us here.”

Feeling unsatisfied after cursing, she taped Xu Yinyu’s mouth shut.

Xu Yinyu sat on the floor, neither crying nor causing trouble. She continuously flexed her calves, trying to reach the utility knife strapped to her leg with her bound hands.
