Chapter 14: Concealment – Girlfriend
Xu Yinyu’s eyes darkened.
Yu Shujin, wearing a mask and a hat for concealment, showing only a pair of beautiful eyes, walked toward her unhurriedly.
One second, Xu Yinyu was chatting and laughing with Qi Wei. The next moment, upon seeing Yu Shujin, her expression froze, and she stood still, at a loss.
Yu Shujin reached out to Xu Yinyu, and Xu Yinyu instinctively took her hand.
Qi Wei frowned and tugged at Xu Yinyu. “Is this your friend?”
Xu Yinyu nodded.
Yu Shujin raised an eyebrow. “I’m Ah-Yu’s girlfriend. And you are?”
Xu Yinyu’s eyes widened as she looked at Yu Shujin. Due to Qi Wei’s presence, she found it difficult to ask why Yu Shujin was introducing herself like this in public.
Was this just meaningless amusement? Or was it a playful prank for fun?
Even with the layers of disguise, Yu Shujin’s exceptional figure and unique aura were hard to hide, and observant fans might still recognize her.
Xu Yinyu immediately pulled at Yu Shujin’s sleeve and whispered, “New colleague.”
Qi Wei watched Xu Yinyu and Yu Shujin’s small, intimate gestures. She was extremely displeased inside but showed no sign of it. “Girlfriend, huh, Xiao Yu? That’s great! Why don’t you bring your girlfriend along to the department dinner? Let Old Yang and the others see how beautiful your girlfriend is.”
Xu Yinyu was about to decline, but Yu Shujin seized the opportunity.
“Where is it?” Yu Shujin asked.
“Just at the hotpot restaurant in front. Our department booked a private room for a gathering tonight.” Qi Wei smiled. “I didn’t catch your name, though?”
Yu Shujin didn’t speak again; she certainly didn’t want to be recognized by her own employees.
Xu Yinyu spoke with difficulty. “You can just call her Miss Yu.”
The three entered the hotpot restaurant, one after the other.
Qi Wei led the way. Xu Yinyu tried to pull her hand away during the walk, but the attempt failed, and their fingers were intertwined even tighter.
“Xiao Yu is here, come sit down. And who is this?” Team Leader Yang stood up to greet Xu Yinyu, then suddenly noticed the person next to her. She felt she looked familiar, but because of the heavy disguise, she didn’t recognize her right away.
Xu Yinyu smiled and greeted them. She always felt uncomfortable in such settings but maintained superficial politeness.
Yu Shujin coldly scanned everyone in the room. Her beautiful, delicate eyes curved upwards, and she held Xu Yinyu’s hand, introducing herself with a tone that was both distant and firm. “I am Xu Yinyu’s girlfriend. Hello everyone.”
Her gaze naturally carried the pressure of an authority figure.
Xu Yinyu felt like a bomb had gone off in her ear. She instantly turned her head to meet Yu Shujin’s gaze.
She squeezed her eyes up and down at Yu Shujin.
Hinting that she should choose her words carefully.
Xu Yinyu knew Yu Shujin was not someone who liked trouble.
Most of the time, if someone piled up too much trouble in front of her, she would choose to eliminate the person creating the trouble rather than gradually resolving the problem at hand.
Yu Shujin prioritized efficiency. She wouldn’t touch anything that fell below her expected results.
This was evident from the fact that she entered the entertainment industry seven years ago and secured the Movie Queen title in just three years.
Yet now, she was recklessly telling her own employees something that was detrimental rather than beneficial to her career.
Xu Yinyu gripped Yu Shujin’s hand tightly. Her vision went white, and her pale, delicate face looked pitiful now. She stumbled and collapsed against Yu Shujin, the distance between them at this moment too small for a needle to pass through.
“Oh dear, my head hurts so much, Team Leader Yang. I suddenly feel so unwell. I’m truly sorry.” Xu Yinyu spoke weakly.
Yu Shujin naturally tightened her embrace. Although she smiled, her tone was highly demanding. “I need to take Ah-Yu to the hospital. We will treat you all to a meal next time we have the chance.”
Team Leader Yang smoothed things over with a smile. “It’s just dinner. Xiao Yu’s health is much more important. Hurry to the hospital and get registered. How did you get so tired on your first day of work?”
“Exactly,” Qi Wei chimed in. “Xiao Yu, maybe you should take tomorrow off to rest.”
Xu Yinyu waved her hand, feigning weakness. “It’s probably just a common headache, an old problem. I’ll be fine after sleeping it off.”
Xu Yinyu narrowed her eyes and forcefully tugged at Yu Shujin’s collar.
Yu Shujin supported Xu Yinyu, bearing most of her weight.
Whether intentional or not, Yu Shujin specifically walked past Qi Wei. The hand supporting Xu Yinyu squeezed hard, nearly making Xu Yinyu cry out in pain.
“Excuse us.”
Yu Shujin’s eyes were fixed on the woman with the distinctive piercings in front of her. Her gaze, as it swept over her, carried intense contempt and disdain.
Qi Wei was stung by Yu Shujin’s provocation. Her previously concerned eyes instantly trembled. She was about to retaliate but was patted by Team Leader Yang from behind.
Qi Wei stepped aside.
Yu Shujin smiled at Team Leader Yang, then led the ‘sickly and exhausted’ Xu Yinyu out of the private room.
Xu Yinyu looked back, and finding no one following them, immediately tried to distance herself from Yu Shujin.
But unexpectedly, Yu Shujin’s desire for acting took over. “Ah-Yu, doesn’t your head hurt? Don’t move around.”
Her tone was gentle, like a caring lover’s inquiry.
But the action of her hand still carried a tyrannical possessiveness, tightly clasping Xu Yinyu’s shoulder from behind, keeping her firmly controlled in her embrace.
“I was acting,” Xu Yinyu quietly told her the truth. “My head doesn’t hurt. You can let go of me now.”
“Oh? Why did you lie, Ah-Yu?” Yu Shujin asked knowingly.
“Liars must be punished, Ah-Yu.”
Yu Shujin’s voice was like that of a captivating succubus tempting a scholar, slowly asking with tender words, drawing you into the dragon’s lair.
By the time you sobered up, she would have already gotten everything she wanted.
As Xu Yinyu was shoved into the back seat of the car, her mind was entirely filled with Yu Shujin’s “punishment,” completely forgetting who the lie was originally intended to help.
After Yu Shujin got into the car, she stated their home address and then pulled up the car divider.
“Naughty little liar.”
After saying that, Yu Shujin kissed Xu Yinyu’s lips. Their mouths and teeth intertwined. Her gaze was intensely focused on Xu Yinyu, making Xu Yinyu blush and close her eyes, with a sense of devout reverence, like presenting a kiss to a deity.
She gently touched the injury on Xu Yinyu’s lip corner, but instantly avoided it. Her tongue invaded Xu Yinyu’s mouth, not letting go of a single inch.
Xu Yinyu’s trauma from the previous days hadn’t faded, and her body was initially very stiff upon feeling Yu Shujin’s touch.
But under Yu Shujin’s constant softening, her body slowly relaxed, and the hands that had been struggling against her chest lost their strength.
So the punishment was… kissing…
Xu Yinyu’s eyes were moist and hazy. She breathed heavily, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
Remembering her question, and taking advantage of Yu Shujin’s seemingly good mood, she spoke up. “Why did you tell my colleagues that you are my girlfriend?”
Yu Shujin’s pleased smile dropped. “Aren’t you?”
“I… I don’t think so.”
Xu Yinyu tried hard to think. She still felt that the relationship between her and Yu Shujin couldn’t be called “girlfriend.” Their relationship wasn’t that bright; they only had a contractual relationship of being kept.
The relationship of sugar baby and sugar daddy was a more accurate fit.
Yu Shujin frowned. “Then why do you kiss me?”
“That’s because you want to,” Xu Yinyu’s mouth was quicker than her brain, revealing the truth.
“I want it, and you accept it,” Yu Shujin wiped away the saliva from Xu Yinyu’s lip. “Isn’t that enough?”
“We’ve done everything that lovers do. Ah-Yu, why are you so silly?”
Yu Shujin’s tone was full of resentment, like a teacher looking at her most troublesome student, filled with both affection and complaint.
But was Xu Yinyu really the one who got it wrong?
Was the definition of a relationship truly as simple and crude as Yu Shujin made it sound?
Who was truly stuck in delusion?
Xu Yinyu moved her lips but ultimately didn’t speak.
Yu Shujin pulled her into her arms. “I don’t like you having dinner with other people, Ah-Yu. Don’t neglect me because of work.”
Xu Yinyu replied, “I know.”
“That woman walking next to you today, the one with all the piercings—I don’t like her. Keep your distance from her.” Yu Shujin’s eye twitched as she recalled Qi Wei’s inappropriate style. She was extremely afraid that Xu Yinyu might take a liking to her one day and get piercings, too, causing herself unnecessary suffering.
Xu Yinyu tilted her head out. “Why? Qi Wei is quite nice to me.”
Yu Shujin said through gritted teeth, “All inexplicable kindness is a clearly priced scheme. You’re a newcomer. On your very first day working in the department, someone is being so attentive to you. Don’t you find that strange?”
That sentence perfectly summarized the relationship between her and Yu Shujin.
Xu Yinyu didn’t want to conflict with Yu Shujin over a colleague, so she sighed and nodded. “Okay.”
Yu Shujin’s eyes instantly lifted, joy radiating across her face. She ruffled Xu Yinyu’s hair. “That’s the right attitude.”
“I specially had Auntie Fang cook your favorite sauerkraut fish today. You must have a lot of adjusting to do on your first day of work, so eat more nutritious food.”
Xu Yinyu nodded. “Shujin, I understand.”
After dinner, Yu Shujin went into the study. The door was closed tight. She was talking to someone, and muffled sounds of admonishment occasionally carried through the door.
Xu Yinyu watched the monitor feed of her mother on her tablet, checking her health status.
She hadn’t visited her mother in a long time. Recently, Yu Shujin had been intentionally or unintentionally brushing aside her requests, and she didn’t dare ask directly.
The visit to her mother kept getting postponed under these circumstances.
Xu Yinyu was anxious. When Yu Shujin finished working in the study, she sat up and looked at Yu Shujin.
Yu Shujin was surprised. “Why aren’t you asleep yet?”
She looked at Xu Yinyu’s pale skin, faint pink lips, and delicate, small face. Under the filter of the desk lamp, she seemed to be shrouded in a hazy moonlight, beautiful beyond compare.
“I have something I want to ask for your help with,” Xu Yinyu said, looking into Yu Shujin’s desire-filled eyes.
