- After Being Forced into a Marriage with My Empress Consort
- Chapter 5 - The Gift: A Damned Misunderstanding
Therese asked for quite a while, but Florson still would not tell him what the big gift was.
He assumed it must be the dowry.
After all, if he was going to get married, the male Zerg could not possibly show up empty-handed and become a live-in son-in-law. That sounded like a kept man or a gigolo.
“Regarding the split we discussed, how much are you giving me?”
Florson shook his head and asked in surprise: “How much more do you want?”
He continued righteously: “Male Zergs do not receive dowries. We only bring the property of our male spouses and concubines back to the family; there is no such thing as giving it back to them.”
“It is not a dowry. I am talking about my share!”
“What money do you have? Were you not picked up from the Trash Star by me?” Florson was even more surprised than he was.
Therese: “…”
He flicked his tail hook: “Are you not planning to honor what you said back then?”
He needed money very badly right now.
Although he had switched to a new terminal, the card linked to it was still his card from the United Bank on the Trash Star, and the star coins inside were pitifully few.
Consumption on the First High-Rank Star was calculated in contribution points, and only very elite military Zergs could live here.
Therese felt that even the water here was made of gold, and every sip was so expensive it made his heart ache.
Now that Florson was trying to renege on his debt, he certainly would not agree to it.
However, Florson had his reasons: “Most of your half must be used to pay for your residency fees.”
Florson raised his eyebrows: “Residency on the First High-Rank Star is very expensive! The family’s public funds paid for it in advance; do you not need to pay it back?”
Before Therese could refute, Florson added: “Besides, you still want to bring your male parent here.”
Florson bent his fingers: “You have to register his household, find a new residence, pay the round-trip starship fare, and most importantly, pull strings to get his name onto the very few spots available in this year’s talent introduction list for male Zergs…”
Florson glanced at Therese’s increasingly serious expression and shrugged: “This one million contribution points sounds like a lot, but it flows out like water once you start spending it. If you ask me, you should stop trying to bring your male parent over. Just send him a sum of money and let him live on a third-rank star. Is that not better?”
“No.” Therese frowned.
Jonah’s health was poor, and he was getting old.
He had dedicated his life to Therese, focusing solely on watching him grow up. It could be said that in Jonah’s eyes, Therese was his only reason for existing.
He still remembered the scene where Jonah wiped away his tears, determined to say goodbye to him forever.
If there were no accidents, he would never be able to leave the First High-Rank Star again, and Jonah would never be able to afford the ticket to reach the First High-Rank Star in his lifetime.
Therese had sworn that he would bring his male parent here, no matter the cost.
Therefore, after Florson finished calculating the expenses, he stopped fighting for that dowry.
“Florson, since you took the money, please take this matter to heart.” Therese gritted his teeth.
He looked at the only male Zerg with whom he shared a blood relation on this planet.
He did not seem very reliable, but he was the only one he could depend on for now.
He did not yet have the capital to have a falling out with him.
“Don’t worry, leave it to me!”
Florson patted his chest and winked at Therese.
“Therese, your male spouse is a tough character. The Zergs of the Kelson family never eat for free. Just urge him to go out more often and slaughter some alien beasts. Why worry about not having contribution points to spend in the future?”
Florson’s skin was naturally thick, and Therese ignored him.
He would be self-reliant soon enough anyway.
Florson felt ignored, but he did not care.
The money was in his pocket, and he would never spit it out.
Therese could not do anything about him, either. His legal team was not just for show.
Fight with him? Come back in a few years!
Florson was extremely satisfied. This was the most generous income he had received recently.
It was just strange—all the Zerg eggs he had hatched lately were female; not a single male Zerg.
It would be nice if they were all male.
Florson looked at his terminal balance with melancholy, regretting that the family could not find more lost male descendants.
But having one was also quite good.
The air rail arrived to take him to his leisure activities.
Drinking a peach-branch sparkling champagne that cost 20,000 contribution points per glass, he felt a rare moment of guilt.
So, with a wave of his hand, he transferred 5,000 star coins to Therese with the note: “Go buy two new outfits to wear for the wedding.”
Then, he happily clutched his money and hugged a beautiful sub-Zerg: “Let us go! My wallet is flush lately; if you want to buy anything, just ask me!”
“My lord, you are truly so generous lately!”
The little sub-Zerg had stars in his eyes: “But will your male spouse be angry if he smells the pheromones on you?”
Florson was their big client, but more importantly, the Zerg who paid the bills behind the big client was the one who mattered.
“I do not need him to pay my bills lately.” Florson snorted, thinking of the new wealthy backer he had recently secured, and swirled his drink.
But the Zerg at home did need to be disciplined, otherwise, he would not know how powerful he was.
“Take me to see the new toys you have released.” Florson set down his champagne glass, and the tray collided with the glass, making a crisp sound.
The sub-Zerg knew he had said the wrong thing, lowered his head submissively, and hurriedly bowed to lead Florson to the toy room.
Male Zergs on the First High-Rank Star were frequent visitors to high-end clubs.
For a more affluent life, most of them chose strong military Zergs as their marriage partners.
However, male Zergs were significantly weaker than female Zergs.
This was not only reflected in their physique; the more painful aspect was the suppression of mental power.
No matter how much a high-ranking Zerg restrained themselves, the coldness and murderous intent carved into their bones made it difficult for them to bow their heads, which greatly hurt the male Zergs’ self-esteem.
Without sufficient protection, they would never dare to get close to these human-shaped murder weapons. Only when the Zergs were extremely weak would they dare to approach, then force themselves to endure the discomfort and end the task hastily.
How could one make a Zerg become weak and powerless? This required the assistance of some tools.
Florson picked up a silver iron chain, tugged it, and tested the strength.
“This is made of refined steel. Without the password, it is very difficult for even an S-class Zerg to break free.”
“What about an SSS-class Zerg?”
The sub-Zerg was clearly stunned for a moment: “Such a high-level Zerg?”
His tone was hesitant, but out of a desire to promote the product, he gritted his teeth and lied: “An SSS-level Zerg is no problem, either!”
Florson nodded with satisfaction: “Pack it up!”
He considered himself very kind to his nephew. Although he still could not bear to bring him here to spend money, the gift had to be prepared properly.
He looked at some new models of biters and selected a few whips with moderate softness and hardness, asking the sub-Zerg salesperson to pack them all up.
“Where is it being delivered?”
Florson scratched his head. In three days, Therese would no longer be staying at the hotel, so it would be better to deliver it directly to his new home.
So he called for an express delivery service, packed the box, which was packaged very beautifully, and sent it directly to the home of Major Adonis on George Avenue.
This was also a small display of authority. He believed that after Adonis saw it, he would think twice and be more respectful to Therese.
“Major, your package has arrived.”
Adonis, who was working, received the image from the apartment door.
He frowned.
He had not purchased anything recently.
“Just leave it there.”
Looking at the large pink box, he could not help but think of a certain pink-haired male Zerg.
What was that?
Adonis chose to sign for it, and then his terminal immediately synchronized a list of the goods.
When he saw the items on the list, his expression instantly became even colder.
He knew he could not escape it.
The face that had been somewhat hazy and dreamy in his memory instantly became detestable.
“Major?” Seeing his abnormality, the Zergs who were assembling cars to prepare for the wedding venue could not help but stop.
The mental field of an SSS-level Zerg was terrifying; the antennae of the Zergs present drooped in submission, and their legs could not stop trembling.
“Cancel the wedding decorations. Notify the Zergs of the major legions that they do not need to come to observe the ceremony.” This military Zerg’s expression was chilling, as if quenched in ice dregs.
“Just prepare a starship; when the time comes, go to the hotel to pick up the Zerg. None of the rituals are needed; keep everything simple.”
“But the family head…” Donald was joyfully beginning to decorate the estate and had invited Zergs from all the major families as guests.
“Am I the one getting married, or is he? Tell Grandfather that if the male Zerg is not happy, I do not have to go through with this marriage.”
After saying this, Adonis locked himself directly into the training room.
The Zergs present stopped their work one after another and looked at each other.
What could they do now?
