- Chapter 10 - Willfulness. He Jumped into the Trap Woven by the Male Zerg
“Whether this news is true or not has nothing to do with you.”
Adonis looked at his former teammate, his expression cold and sharp. If not for the faint crimson hue that had yet to fade from his ears, Veblen might have been intimidated. But as it stood, Adonis currently lacked any real threat. He resembled a cold blade retracted into its scabbard, heavy and stern.
“I just wanted to say congratulations.” Veblen shrugged, patted Adonis on the shoulder, and teased, “You really should keep a close eye on your male master. I suspect the line of females waiting to become his concubines could stretch for an entire reinforced company.”
He spoke in a voice so low that only Adonis could hear. Once finished, Veblen waved his hand and retreated with his law enforcement team. The room, ravaged by mental power, was certainly no longer habitable.
Adonis remained silent for a moment before apologizing. “I failed to control my mental power just now. If it caused you any fear, I am very sorry.”
The female zerg looked dejected, and Tracy patted his head.
“It is not your fault.” It was merely that his own mental power was too weak.
Tracy recalled the scene of being pinned to the bed, struggling to even breathe, and felt a lingering sense of fear.
“I will wear a pheromone suppressor collar,” Adonis promised, as if having reached a decision.
“What kind of collar?” Tracy raised an eyebrow, genuinely interested.
“A neck collar. It can be linked to your terminal, and it will send an alert whenever my emotions fluctuate.” Adonis opened his terminal and immediately ordered the most expensive version available. “It will be worn right over my Adam’s apple. If I exhibit any overly aggressive behavior that makes you uncomfortable, you can trigger a warning.”
Naturally, the sensation of being electrocuted was hardly pleasant, but it served as a form of security.
Tracy did not refuse the female’s kindness. Indeed, he was far too weak at the moment. Tracy glanced at Adonis, thinking with a sense of pleasure that this could be seen as an act of submission.
The room was drafty and clearly uninhabitable. Adonis had no desire to call the repair team again, so he simply upgraded the male’s suite. Upgrading from an executive suite to a presidential suite cost a significant amount of star coins, but Adonis did not care for the expense.
When he first learned the male was staying in an executive suite, he had been somewhat surprised. Perhaps the famous Kahn family really had declined, if even their male zerg was forced to be so frugal. So, when he offered his own terminal to help upgrade the room, he felt a subtle sense of reality.
This was his male zerg now. It was only right that he offered him the best.
The Hilton Hotel in the Upper City was located in the most bustling downtown area. Naturally, the male and female zergs here had plenty of time to kill, so none were in a rush to sleep. As they set off for the new room, Tracy caught a glimpse of the luxurious dining bar at the end of the hallway. There were many female zergs conversing, and the number of males had clearly increased. They were sipping drinks in the restaurant while their females stood quietly by their sides. The males resting on the top floor observed the two newcomers with gazes of either mockery or curiosity.
The presidential suite at the top was more private than the rooms on the middle floors. It not only featured a terrace for stargazing but also a massive swimming pool.
“I hope you are satisfied with your stay today,” the female zerg stood at the doorway, not entering.
“Very satisfied.” Tracy offered a smile. He looked at the female, who had become calm after shedding his hostility, and once again focused his gaze intently on his face.
Adonis’s face was truly clean. Even after his recent outburst, and despite the two large holes in his military uniform, his pupils remained clear and distinct.
Tracy pulled him down and kissed his eyelashes. In the face of the female’s stunned expression, he flicked his tail-hook and said, “Good night.”
Adonis felt his heart beating far too rapidly. It was too strange. These feelings were just too strange. He felt that the information circulating online was correct: the zergs of the Kahn family were indeed playboys skilled at fluttering the hearts of others. Perhaps he was the lucky one, or perhaps the unlucky one.
Could he satisfy the male zerg? Perhaps, just as Veblen’s meaningful gaze had implied, many females were waiting in line.
Adonis was in a restless mood. When he returned to the manor, he was greeted at the door by his grandfather, Donald, who was filled with rage. The floral decorations that had been set up had all been taken down, and the lively wedding scene had become desolate and cold. The female zergs stood in a line, clearly unsure of whose orders to follow.
“Kneel!” Donald had not been this angry in a long time.
Adonis silently bent his knees. Donald raised his scepter and struck Adonis hard. His back burned with pain.
“You went to the male’s hotel to cause trouble?” the elder questioned.
“Yes,” Adonis replied, his expression blank.
Seeing his grandson’s cold and indifferent attitude, Donald became even more furious. He struck Adonis again with the scepter. For a female zerg, the damage from a walking stick would heal quickly, but Adonis had never been hit before. Moreover, he was a member of his own family, and he had done nothing wrong.
Donald raised the scepter again, but could not bring himself to strike a third time. He hammered the scepter into the floor twice.
“Veblen told me everything. You were angry because the male sent you some ordinary little toys, and you acted like a madman, wanting to torture a bee-tribe female to death and intimidate the male.”
He pointed at the carefully arranged wedding site, furious. “Do you know how many old friends sent me their congratulations? They even bought their interstellar tickets to come here, and because of your willfulness, I had to tell them to cancel! If the male had not been willing to overlook your behavior and let the wedding proceed as planned, I would have beaten you to death.”
Adonis lifted his eyes. “Is the wedding so important? Everyone knows that the Kelson family is nearing its end. Do you have any idea how many of our vassal family heads are paying lip service to us or have submitted applications for independence? As for the commanders of the small legions, few come to report military affairs to you on time. It is just as well they don’t come; I don’t feel like hosting them anyway.”
“You!” Donald was so angry he could hardly breathe, yet he had to admit that this was indeed the truth.
“As long as you get your act together and marry the male early as I requested, won’t all these problems be solved?”
“I am already in the process of marrying.” Adonis stood up. “Is it really such a crime that because I saw something I shouldn’t have and was afraid of repeating the past, I wanted to find an outlet for my emotional flaws?”
Donald gripped his scepter, his fingers trembling slightly as if he had remembered something. “I told you, I conducted an investigation in advance. This male will not be like your father, Litte.”
“Yes, perhaps he won’t be that selfish, cruel, or harsh. Maybe he will leave me a breath of life. I will even be grateful for his benevolence and kindness, and try to ensure that I am still alive to see you on the third day of the wedding.”
Adonis sneered and stood up. Though he said these things, his heart remained heavy. After all, what kind of good male zerg would send him a set of punishment tools before they were even married? Yet, after meeting him, he had found himself drowning in that rare warmth. Perhaps this was his weakness.
After a brief stiffness, the itching sensation on his back began to fade away. Adonis was already exhausted, and the places struck by the scepter were aching terribly.
“Grandfather!” Adonis fell to his knees, feeling a sense of disbelief.
Donald waved his hand, and two green-winged praying mantis warriors clad in black armor stepped forward, pinning him down from both sides. He raised his head, wanting to summon his mental power to fight back, but could exert no strength at all. He widened his eyes, staring at Donald Kelson’s scepter.
“You actually applied an anesthetic in advance!”
Adonis gritted his teeth, like a trapped beast. Both of the mantis warriors holding him had grown up alongside him.
“Young Master,” Pock, who was supporting him, whispered, “This is a good thing. The family head is doing this for your own good. He is afraid you will have pre-wedding anxiety and run away again. The male chosen this time is truly excellent. I think you should compromise.”
“Yes, for the sake of curing your illness and for the honor of the Kelson family, please just endure it.”
“I have already said I don’t want to inherit the Kelson family! This is my female parent’s wish, not mine!” Adonis looked up, glaring angrily at Donald, his stubborn figure unintentionally overlapping with that of his female parent.
Donald remained silent. Adonis’s female parent, Morrison, had been his most outstanding child and the one to whom he had dedicated the most heart. How could he not love the only child left behind by his son? But Morrison had passed away due to mental power riots, leaving him with the pain of burying his own child. Adonis could not walk that same path. If not for the sake of having an heir, and if not because Adonis’s mental power had reached SSS-rank and required a male zerg with a blood connection to help stabilize it, he would not have left the zerg world so early.
“Your life was exchanged for your female parent’s life.” Donald stared at Adonis. His eyes were far less pure than Adonis’s, even carrying a hint of cloudy white due to his old age, but his gaze remained sharp.
The old family head looked steadily at the stubborn Adonis. He had applied the most potent anesthetic to his scepter; even a ten-ton exotic beast would have fallen into a deep sleep within ten minutes. Yet, three minutes had passed, and Adonis remained conscious. He was a natural warrior who could take first place in any competition with slight training, but he was too stubborn. Perhaps due to the overwhelming shadows of his childhood, Adonis hated male zergs.
However, without the help of a male zerg, he would never be promoted to Admiral. Under the influence of mental mania, he would gradually lose control of his body and eventually become an uncontrollable biological weapon. He would be executed.
Donald felt profound sorrow. He had consulted many therapists and read many ancient texts. In a situation like Adonis’s, he could only rely on deep stabilization from a male zerg. Perhaps after only four or five sessions, the mental mania plaguing him would be resolved. He could even have a natural zerg egg. Zerg warriors had incredible resilience and did not die easily. Regardless of what his male master did to him, he would survive and be reborn from the flames.
“This is not just my wish, but your female parent’s wish as well. You know why he chose to stay by your male father, Litte’s, side.”
“This is what you owe Morrison. You must live well, even if you lose your dignity.”
Seeing Adonis hang his head, Donald knew he had listened.
“Pock, take him back to his room. Do not let him out before the wedding.” Donald commanded.
The females took the unconscious Adonis away, while Donald ordered the servants to continue decorating the manor. He hoped the male zerg would not discover any clues.
“There is not much time left. He must get used to it, and he must adapt.”
