After Being Forced Into a Facial Paralysis, the Villain Said I’m Such a Drama Queen - Chapter 35
Lu Jiao dared to curse behind someone’s back, but in front of Lu Wanxing, she was like a quail, wishing she could flee immediately. Every time, even when the other party said nothing and simply looked at her, her legs felt weak.
Lu Wanxing’s expressionless face was simply too terrifying; it made one’s back turn cold. It always reminded her of how Lu Wanxing handled traitors years ago like a god of slaughter.
These cowardly reactions fueled Lu Jiao’s resentment, so she slandered Lu Wanxing even more fiercely in front of others. Most of the rumors outside were spread by her. She spread word that Lu Wanxing was mentally ill and moody, that she was ungrateful, and how pathetic she was as a cripple.
Usually, Lu Wanxing never came this way; why did she come out today?
Lu Jiao dared to tell Sheng Xia and others that this place belonged to her, but she wasn’t bold enough to say it to Lu Wanxing’s face. She glared at Sheng Xia, and seeing her stony, silent face, she felt even more certain that the other woman had intentionally made her look foolish.
It was highly likely that Lu Wanxing had authorized this because she had made a connection with Shangguan Hong, intentionally letting the bodyguard retaliate against her. After all, the relationship between the Shangguan and Lu families had never been good.
But now that the Lu family was clearly on the decline, what was wrong with her simply not wanting to make too many enemies?
Lu Jiao found an excuse for herself. Just as she was about to complain about what the bodyguard had done, she saw Lu Wanxing looking at Sheng Xia and asking, “Are you okay? Did you suffer any grievances?”
Shangguan Hong / Lu Jiao: “???”
Suffer grievances? Who? Who suffered?
Sheng Xia was also a little surprised. She didn’t expect the Eldest Miss to side with her without asking a single question. This feeling caused a subtle joy to overflow in her heart.
It made her feel even more certain that the car accident back then wasn’t as simple as Lu Jiao claimed. Even if it were true, the Eldest Miss wouldn’t have known the accident would happen; her repeated endurance now proved she wasn’t a heartless person who just wanted to brush everything aside.
The biggest victim was likely the Eldest Miss herself…
No matter what, it felt painful. Wu Caifeng and the others kept using that incident to attack the Eldest Miss. Was the reason she rarely came out because she didn’t want to run into people like Lu Jiao?
While the truth hadn’t been fully cleared up, and it was normal for Wu Caifeng and the others to harbor resentment, Sheng Xia subconsciously stood by the Eldest Miss’s side.
“No.” Because she was deep in thought, her reply sounded as if she were being forced to say it.
Lu Wanxing looked at Shangguan Hong, her voice crisp and cold. “If I remember correctly, this is my house.”
Lu Jiao didn’t expect her to expose it so directly. Her face turned green and red, but she still spoke up: “I brought Young Master Shangguan here.”
Hearing this, Lu Wanxing acted surprised. “Ah, is that so? I thought someone had trespassed and was physically attacking my person.”
At this, Lu Jiao’s anger could no longer be suppressed. She blurted out, “It was clearly your bodyguard who injured Young Master Shangguan!”
As she spoke, she didn’t notice Shangguan Hong’s expression. Seeing her say it out loud, his face darkened considerably.
Lu Wanxing gave a light laugh. “Is that so? I heard not long ago that Young Master Shangguan won an international… international what was it again?”
Ah Biao chimed in: “The International Taekwondo Championship.”
“Oh right, an international Taekwondo champion. Since when were they so easily ‘injured’ by a toss?”
Shangguan Hong’s eyes were filled with gloom. He didn’t speak. Lu Jiao realized she might have made him lose face and opened her mouth to speak, but didn’t know what to say. Glancing to the side, she saw two police officers walking over.
Her tone immediately turned to one of disbelief: “You actually called the police?!”
It was another familiar face. Officer Li looked at Sheng Xia, and his first reaction was: “Little sister, is someone bullying you again?”
Lu Wanxing didn’t expect him to say that. A smile flashed in her eyes. “Why can’t I call the police? Before I came, I didn’t know it was you. I called the police out of fear is there a problem?”
Officer Li looked at Lu Wanxing with approval. “Of course there’s no problem. Protecting the personal and property safety of citizens is our responsibility. Private settlements are not recommended; calling the police is the correct move.”
Many people in high society preferred to settle things privately, sometimes even touching the bottom line of the law and causing them a lot of trouble. Someone like Lu Wanxing, who had such legal awareness, naturally earned their favor.
In this round, Lu Wanxing won completely. Lu Jiao and Shangguan Hong wanted to curse but couldn’t find a reason.
However, no one expected Lu Wanxing to be so ruthless. A few men approached from not far away, the logos of the Dog Catching Team printed on their uniforms.
Lu Wanxing acted as if she had a poor memory, tapping her finger on the wheelchair armrest. “Hmm, sorry. I thought I heard two dogs barking from a distance just now. I was a bit scared, so I called them over.”
She brushed her long hair to the side, her tone casual. “You know, dogs that haven’t had their rabies shots are just like people without an upbringing both are quite dangerous.”
This was a wealthy area, and the property management was very thorough. There had indeed been incidents where lost dogs injured people, so a dedicated dog-catching team had been established. Seeing no dogs now, they simply felt relieved.
“Miss Lu, if there’s nothing else, we’ll head out. If this happens again, feel free to call us.”
Lu Wanxing nodded and turned to Shangguan Hong. “Young Master Shangguan, in case you don’t know the way out, let these staff members escort you.”
Shangguan Hong could least tolerate Lu Wanxing’s dismissive attitude. For years, he had treated her as a rival and a mortal enemy, wanting her to fear and be wary of him. Instead, Lu Wanxing ignored him completely which felt more humiliating than a slap to the face.
Shangguan Hong’s eyes were full of malice. He gave a cold laugh and turned to leave. Seeing him leave without even looking at her, Lu Jiao glared at Sheng Xia, feeling it was all her fault.
Suddenly, a gust of wind blew. A grain of sand got into Sheng Xia’s eye. she quickly lowered her head to try and get it out. Her eye turned red, but she still felt a foreign object inside.
She turned her body slightly, tilting her head back to blink it out. The moment a tear fell, she finally felt comfortable.
She reached into her pocket but found no tissues, remembering she had left them on the desk.
Just as she was about to wipe it away with her hand, a tissue appeared before her eyes. The Eldest Miss had handed it over from her side.
Under the sunlight, Lu Wanxing’s hand looked as smooth as milk, her fingers long and well-defined.
[The live stream chat begins to scroll rapidly with comments about the “length” and “suppleness” of the fingers, with some users making suggestive jokes and others telling them not to corrupt Sheng Xia.]
Sheng Xia didn’t notice this interlude. She took the tissue and explained, “I just got some sand in my eye.”
But Lu Wanxing didn’t believe her.
Although Sheng Xia had a high combat value, she was ultimately just a kid who hadn’t experienced many scenes like this. Especially since Lu Jiao’s words were so nasty; if she hadn’t come, the girl would have been bullied miserably.
If Sheng Xia had directly said she was aggrieved, it would be one thing, but this quiet shedding of tears made Lu Wanxing feel a bit of pity especially since the girl’s eyes were as red as a little rabbit’s, a clear attempt at a cover-up.
So pitiful.
The Eldest Miss’s tone softened slightly. She said, “Hmm. Do you want me to blow on it for you?”
Sheng Xia blinked. She already felt much better, but it was rare for the Eldest Miss to take the initiative to be close. She pursed her lips, hesitated, and then nodded.
She stepped forward, preparing to bend down. Her gaze accidentally fell on Lu Wanxing’s chest, dazzled by the snowy softness. Her legs went weak, and she landed on the ground with a thud, kneeling.
In that instant, Sheng Xia wanted to curl herself into a ball and throw herself away.
After a long silence, the Eldest Miss’s light laughter came from above. “You seem to really like this posture.”
No! I don’t! I didn’t! I didn’t want to!
Sheng Xia wanted to cry but had no tears. She looked up at the Eldest Miss, once again wishing the woman could read the “pie chart” in her eyes, letting the 100% shame be transmitted through her big eyes.
With a smile in her eyes, Lu Wanxing looked at Sheng Xia’s flushed face and leaned forward to blow into her eye. “Does that feel better?”
The “little deer” in Sheng Xia’s heart was already having a massive nosebleed by the riverside. She was already dazed by the beauty’s proximity; with this extra gesture, she felt one step away from fainting.
In this moment, she felt that being forced to be “paralyzed” (stoic) was truly a good thing.
Lu Wanxing saw that Sheng Xia had completely forgotten the previous incident. Like finding something fun to play with, she deliberately leaned in closer. As the distance between them closed, Sheng Xia’s body went stiff, not daring to move.
“Not speaking? Do you need another ‘huff’?” It was entirely the tone of teasing a child, but because they were so close, Sheng Xia felt as if the Eldest Miss’s body heat was being transmitted through those words, burning her until she was hot all over.
Sheng Xia dared not move. Ah Biao, who had just finished seeing the people out; Xiao Qi, who had rushed over; Uncle Li; Da Hu; and Er Wen all of them saw this scene and stood frozen.
Ki-ki-kissed? They kissed?!
Holy crap! What just happened??
Uncle Li was very conflicted. Uncle Li was in great pain. Uncle Li felt he was bearing far too much.
Ever since he passed Sheng Xia’s room a few days ago and accidentally heard the phrase “take off your clothes,” Uncle Li began to suffer from insomnia.
The next day, when he couldn’t find Sheng Xia and heard things like “bear with it a little” coming from the Eldest Miss’s room, Uncle Li began to feel dazed.
Later, when Sheng Xia came down with the phone the Eldest Miss bought her and said she wanted more tonic soup, Uncle Li began to hold back tears.
He wasn’t against the Eldest Miss falling in love, nor did he think there was anything wrong with her being with a girl. As long as the Eldest Miss was happy.
But…
But Xiao Xia is still a minor! Even if they started dating, it should be gradual. They’d only known each other for a few months isn’t moving to the “later stages” a bit too fast?
Uncle Li kept this secret and couldn’t sleep. Every day, he made extra delicious food for Sheng Xia, hoping to make up for it and ensure the life between her and the Eldest Miss was harmonious.
Now that the matter was exposed, he was finally no longer the only one suffering the burden of knowing about the Eldest Miss’s romance. Seeing the incredulous looks on the faces of Ah Biao, Xiao Qi, Da Hu, and Er Wen, Uncle Li felt he had found strategic partners.
Gathering the four of them, Uncle Li held an emergency meeting.
“We must act as if we don’t know, understood?” At the very least, they had to wait until Sheng Xia became an adult and finished the College Entrance Exam before the relationship could be brought into the open.
Ah Biao and Xiao Qi hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
But Da Hu and Er Wen thought about it and felt conflicted. “But what if Boss feels sad all by herself?”
Between the Eldest Miss and their Boss, the Boss was definitely the weaker party. If they had a conflict, Sheng Xia wouldn’t even have anyone to talk to.
This made sense. In the end, the five of them huddled together and decided to get Sheng Xia to open up to them so they could form a strategic alliance.
The Eldest Miss had been single until now and hadn’t seemed to like anyone; they needed to seize this opportunity and strive to go from love to marriage in one smooth journey.
“Then who will be the scout to investigate the situation?”
The five of them looked at each other, and finally, their eyes landed on Uncle Li.
In that instant, Uncle Li felt the weight of responsibility on his shoulders, as if a light were shining behind him.
Uncle Li went. He went with the earnest expectations of the other four.
He pulled Sheng Xia to a corner and whispered, “Xiao Xia, what were you and the Eldest Miss doing just now?”
Sheng Xia was confused, not quite understanding why Uncle Li was asking. “I got sand in my eye, and the Eldest Miss was helping me blow it out.”
Thinking of the Eldest Miss’s gentle appearance just now, Sheng Xia felt a bit shy. The Eldest Miss’s eyes are so beautiful, like amber.
“Sand in the eye…” Uncle Li repeated. He found it hard to believe. He thought: Is this kid afraid I’ll object, so she’s planning to hide it?
“Xiao Xia, even though you haven’t been here long, I think you’re a good kid, you know?” So don’t hide it from me, tell me!
His eyes were full of a thirst for knowledge, but unfortunately, Sheng Xia didn’t get his deeper meaning. She just nodded. “You’re also very kind, Uncle Li.”
“Biao-ge called me just now, he probably needs me for something.” Sheng Xia was thinking about other things and didn’t notice Uncle Li’s look of Oh, the kid has grown up and is rebellious now, she has secrets from this old man disappointment.
Uncle Li failed to gather intelligence. Plan B was activated.
During training, A-Biao looked at Sheng Xia and hesitated to speak. Xiao Qi also glanced at her from time to time. Da Hu and Er Wen’s eyes were practically glued to her.
Sheng Xia felt goosebumps rising. She checked her clothes but found nothing wrong.
Worrying that Sheng Xia would be embarrassed with too many people around, Ah Biao signaled for the others to retreat. When only the two of them were left, he asked, “Xiao Xia, what were you and the Eldest Miss doing just now?”
Asked the same question again, Sheng Xia countered, “Biao-ge, why are you asking this?”
A-Biao laughed it off. “Oh, it’s just been a while since we talked. I’m just looking out for you.”
“Sand got in my eye, and the Eldest Miss helped me blow it out.” Sheng Xia was getting tired of saying it. Seeing her expression, A-Biao thought she didn’t want to talk about it. He hesitated, then patted her shoulder and said, “Though it’s hard, I will support you.”
While he said that, he was wondering who had initiated it. He asked again, “Did you ask for a ‘blow’ or did the Eldest Miss offer it herself?” Girls are usually shy. Codes, I get it!
“The Eldest Miss said it.” Thinking of this, Sheng Xia felt the Eldest Miss was truly a good person. The people outside rumored she was vicious and unreasonable, or that she was reclusive it was all lies!
“I know the Eldest Miss is a very good person.” Sheng Xia’s eyes were firm as she promised Ah Biao, “I will definitely protect her well and be good to her!”
She guessed they might still not trust her, so she was prepared to show them her determination.
Hearing that the Eldest Miss had taken the initiative, A-Biao was shocked. He hadn’t expected the “iron tree to blossom.” Seeing Sheng Xia’s resolve, he felt a sense of grand ambition.
“Xiao Xia, don’t worry! If anything happens in the future, just tell me! Biao-ge will definitely help you!”
The two of them were talking at cross-purposes, but somehow they ended up on the same wavelength. They almost became sworn brothers, but Ah Biao felt that Sheng Xia would eventually become the Boss’s wife, so that would be taking advantage, and he declined.
Ah Biao felt that while he didn’t get a definitive answer, he had a lead. Thus, Plan C was launched: Da Hu and Er Wen took the lead.
Seeing Sheng Xia approach, they immediately stated their position: “Boss, you should know that no matter what you do, we will support you.”
Er Wen added, “Da Hu is right. So, given our relationship, you wouldn’t want to tell us that you just had sand in your eye and the Eldest Miss helped you blow it out, right?”
Sheng Xia: “???”
“Yeah, it’s exactly as you said.”
Da Hu’s heart shattered. “Boss! I know things are hard between you and the Eldest Miss, but that’s no reason to hide it from us!”
Sheng Xia was completely bewildered by the series of questions today.
Wait…
The Eldest Miss was literally just blowing into my eye. I told the truth and that’s not okay? What am I supposed to say?
That the Eldest Miss was kissing me??? People would think I’m crazy.
Sheng Xia gave each of them a punch and went back to the villa. When it was time for dinner, Uncle Li looked at them with eyes full of motherly/fatherly affection.
Sheng Xia couldn’t read minds; she just thought it was strange. Lu Wanxing, hearing Uncle Li’s inner voice repeatedly saying “Not bad, not bad,” couldn’t help but say, “Uncle Li, you seem to be in a good mood today.”
Uncle Li beamed. “It’s okay, it’s okay.”
Uncle Li’s thought: She’s serving food, she’s serving food! Xiao Xia is so thoughtful, not bad! When will the Eldest Miss serve some back?
Lu Wanxing’s hand paused while eating. She hesitated. Thinking that Sheng Xia had suffered some grievances today and indeed needed comforting, she used the serving chopsticks to place a chicken leg in Sheng Xia’s bowl.
In that instant, Uncle Li’s heart practically wailed with joy. It’s mutual! It’s mutual! Their feelings are mutual!
The Eldest Miss, who had only served a piece of food: “…”
Is Uncle Li… insane?
